Cafe Marika
2 reviews for Cafe Marika
I came here to listen to an impromptu concert by Megan Slankard. After driving through a somewhat scary set of neighbourhoods I arrived at this hungarian-ish cafe/bistro. I had a chicken broth, chocolate mousse cake and a couple hefeweizen. The meal was decent but not extraordinary. It was reasonably priced at 12 total.
The music was actually pretty good, and I enjoyed my first go at SF based artist Megan Slankard. I grabbed a couple of CDs, and got to know a couple local promoters... and the owner of Marika.
A fun, casual little place in Collinwood, next to (and connected to) the Arts Collinwood gallery. Great pastries and baked goods, but a minimal beer selection (though what they have, when they have it, is choice) and a tendency to run out of the best stuff on the menu.
All in all it is a nice place to stop in for a drink or bite if you are perusing the gallery next door, but if you are catching a show, the food at the Beachland is just as good, if not better.
