Quincy, CA
This ia a very lovely, family owned restaurant with a great romantic setting. The food is always bought fresh everyday and this is how the chef bases his menu. A little pricey, but delish.

This restaurant makes you realize the difference between a cook and a chef. Don't bother reading the menu (although the Cobb salad is, by FAR, the best I've ever had), because Patrick (chef) or staff will come by to tell you the daily lunch/dinner specials. All meals are served with a light appetizer, cup of soup, entree, and dessert...all of which are made by Patrick.
Patrick also caters to the wine bar and Dunn's coffee shop.
Yummy Yummy in my tummy!!! -

The only place you want to eat in Quincy.
Patrick has a passion for what he does and you will taste it in every mouthful. His chicken pan seared in duck fat is out of this frickin world.
I had the Cobb Salad...best I've ever had. The dessert of sponge cake with apricot compote melted in my mouth! -

This was my fourth visit to Cafe Le Coq for dinner. Outstanding food in an area where you would not expect this quality. Quincy is a great get-away destination in the American Valley of Plumas County. Maybe the food would be four stars in the San Francisco Bay Area; however, the price is a fraction what it would be in a high-priced area. All dinners are five course including appetizer, soup, salad, entree and dessert. Beer and wine only without a bar area. There is delightful outdoor seating in the spring, summer and early fall.
The restaurant is in the home of the chef, Patrick Le Coq, on Main Street. The older home is delightful with mature gardens. Some home-grown items appear in the dinners. The wine selection could be more complete, but you are in an area that does not support high prices. So there is no hard sell of expensive wine.
Patrick takes time to come out and explain the menu. Needless to say, we will be back! -

Super charming. Good/very-good food & service at a very reasonable price. Kinda weird in that they've got lots of entree choices (beef, chicken, duck, several fishes, etc), and then you can choose however you want it prepared (as long as they've got the ingredients; they were outta herbs de Provence for my salmon).
I think I'd rather see them limit the menu choices a bit & allow them to make those selections great, but it is unique... Definitely worth a look for a good meal in Quincy. -

On a short trip to Quincy I had a wonderful dining experience at this real French restaurant. It is a 5 course meal with appetizer, soup, salad and dessert preset with a fairly wide choice of main entrees.
All the food was cooked perfectly, arrived at the proper temperature and the entree was esthetically pleasing. This restaurant is what eating out used to be and is rarely found anymore. No pretentiousness, just good food. Wine choices are limited, but my choice of red was quite good and the serving was more than ample. Service was good and the price was a steal compared to the Bay Area. The only negative is the high noise level. -

This place utterly blew me away! I went with a large group and we took over the place for the evening. The chef, Patrick LeCoq came out and personally explained the menu choices. The meal started with some pate on toasts, which was quite good, well seasoned. This was followed by a perfect home-made clam chowder. The chowder was not heavy and perfectly seasoned, with just the right balance of clams, potatoes and celery. After this came a salad (the only "blah" portion of the dinner).
As for the main dishes -- My table opted for a New York Steak with tarragon butter sauce, a "dirty rice" with chicken and prawns, and a traditional beef bourguignon. I ate half of the first two and tasted the bourguignon. The steak and dirty rice were excellent, but the bourguignon absolutely blew my mind! I have never had such good bourguignon, from any restaurant or my own kitchen. Patrick was nice enough to share his bourguignon-making techniques with me. (I made it last night and it is da bomb!)
Also outstanding were the carrots in butter and the twice-baked potato that graced the sides of the steak and bourguignon plates. Done to perfection, positively delectable.
By the way, the tab for the dinner (without drinks) was less than $25. This may have been negotiated in advance (and may explain the salad), but for the food that came out of that kitchen, it was a steal.
The dessert was a birthday cake for one of our group. That was so-so, but I don't know if it was brought in or made there.
The ambiance is charming as well, with lovely gardens, a small aviary in the backyard with ducks and geese, and the lovely Patrick and his wife.
This place is worth the trip up along the gorgeous Feather River. -

Ran our vehicle into a snow bank above Bucks Lake (my fault) didn't get to town until late and found this oasis open & waiting for us (happy to say my fault again!) Surprisingly good food, eclectic decor and good service. It made freezing our butts off a worthwhile endeavor!! Next time this place will be our destination! We shall return!!!

My coworkers and I showed up at Cafe le Coq with high expectations, but we didn't even get a chance to experience it. It was 12:30 on a Friday afternoon, there were about 12 people seated, and they turned us away. The busser asked the chef if he wanted to seat another party, and the chef gave a quick "No." The busser then told us that the chef didn't want to make anymore food today and turned us away. Even if the food is good, I will never eat here because of the terrible customer service.

Quincy, CA
This is really the foodie's refuge in Quincy. Patrick LeCoq, the irrepressible chef/owner, fields a surprisingly wide menu which is usually matched by an equal number of specials. His duck, lamb and fish dishes are particularly good, although I've never heard anyone have anything but favorable comments for his beef, pork and chicken offerings.
Meals are a five-course affair; a starter which includes a sampling of the chef's charcuterie skills, progresses through soup, salad and main courses finishing with dessert. With the exception of the main course the offering is fixed -- and uniformly delicious.
Offerings are surprisingly inexpensive; overhead is low, there are no tablecloths and napkins are paper; everything goes into the food. -

We stumbled upon this lovely little restaurant on a holiday weekend when most others were closed. The food was great, the atmosphere cozy and our server, Rachel, was a kick. When we pass through Quincy again, we'll definately stop in for a meal.

What an unexpected gem! Patrick, the owner/chef is a very outgoing Frenchman. We were in town for a BMW motorcycle rally and went to Cafe Le Coq to celebrate a birthday. We had a delightful, 5-course meal (rack of lamb), a nice bottle Malbec and the bill was under $80. A lovely 5-course meal for two and a bottle of wine is impossible at that price in the bay area. The place is charming, the food very good, the staff friendly, and the prices attractive. We'll be back!
