I found this spot on Yelp, it had decent reviews so the boyfriend and I tried it out for a late weekday breakfast.

We were seated quickly there weren't that many people there for a weekday. We sat on the patio since it was a gorgeous day. The servers were nice the atmosphere was great the chairs were a little uncomfortable so I took 1/2 a star. I took another half star because they didn't have croissants!!! Our waiter informed us that another table had gotten the last ones!! A "French" restaurant running out of croissants is to me like Mickey D's running out of hamburgers...it just shouldn't happen.
Other than that my omelette was huge (smoked salmon, Swiss cheese, onions, mushrooms) and the potatoes au gratin were a little on the bland side but tasty with a little S&P. The boyfriend ordered the breakfast sandwich but since there were no more croissants they served it on a French baguette which he didn't mind. We also split the triple berry muffin (which was the last one they had) and it was good but as the boyfriend pointed out could have used just a touch more sugar.

Just a hint if your going to use the check-in offer let them know beforehand because once I tried to use it for my free latte they said the ticket had already been printed so I couldn't have my vanilla latte for free.

Overall it was a good experience and I would definitely go back and even try the lunch or dinner menu.

I came here today with my family hoping to have a nice brunch with our mom on Mother's Day. It's too bad the waitress we had wasn't very nice to us, we had to wait 45 minutes for our food to come out, and then once it finally did, they had messed up my sister's order--they gave her salad instead of fruit. But that was fine, whatever, no big deal. But then a few minutes later my cousin realizes that the chicken in her salad is undercooked!! Then we look at the chicken in my uncle's sandwich and his is undercooked too!

I guess the (cooked) food was ok, and I understand that they were busy, but undercooked chicken is just not ok. They did give us 2 cupcakes at the end to apologize but I don't think cupcakes can make up for the risk of salmonella and a week of vomiting and diarrhea...

    Won't be coming back here.

We walked into a busy place, but with tables empty outside, one couple waiting in front of us, and the greeter nowhere to be found. Eventually he materialized, on the phone, and made us wait for another 5 minutes.

We were finally seated on the patio. There was live music (a guitarist), and it was a nice day. Didn't like the wobbly, too small table and chairs. The waiter was nice, but slow. As for the menu having an insert telling us to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere, blah blah? Show, not tell, people.

We ordered the truffle burger and "le fancy brunch" (croissant w/fritatta covered in hollandaise sauce, potatoes au gratin, fruit and 2 tiny chocolate chip pancakes), along with OJs and an espesso. He ordered the burger medium rare... and it came out, 30 or so minutes later, very well done. Mine must've been done first and sitting, because it was lukewarm. We mentioned the burger issue to the waiter, and he brought us out a free croissant (he didn't offer to give us another burger, although we didn't have time to wait either). My croissant/fritatta was ok, but I didn't care for the potatoes or pancakes. At least I had the fruit!

$37 for everything, before tip. Would not come here again.

I love the patio of this place. You feel like you're in France, even though I have never been there. Some days they have live music! The owner (I think he's the owner) seems very nice and welcoming to every customer that enters his establishment. The food is not to die for but it's definitely okay.

Come here with a group of 2 to 4 on a sunny day and enjoy the patio and some live music :)

Cafe Laurent is a wonderful little French place with a great ambiance.  They recently redecorated, so the place looks fresh and fantastic!

I have been here for brunch on the weekends and for lunch during the week.  They are always moderately crowded, so you know that the food is good, but not too crowded that you have to wait outside for an hour.  I've never had trouble getting a table within a reasonable amount of time.

The service is always friendly and the food is delicious and comes out in generous portions.  Their baked goods are also to die for.  I will definitely be back.

This is rare but I'm actually adding a star for the decor and location as it was nicely situated in a residential neighborhood near a park with plenty of street parking, and the cafe itself was cutely decorated. I loved the patio, which was so packed we couldn't sit there, but appreciated how nice it would be to hang out on a nice LA morning. Otherwise, the food here gets 3 stars.

I suspected that this place had something to do with Bistro Laurent on Sepulveda (see my review!) but didn't know until we met up with friends here who have lived in Culver City forever, and explained that the Bistro was started by the same partner who had opened this cafe. Now I get the design resemblance as both places have a great European-cozy feel.

The food was good but not phenomenal, kind of forgettable; whereas the food at Bistro Laurent was great and we'd definitely go back there again. I had the Eggs Benedict atop a croissant and it was tasty but again, nothing to jump up and down about; I felt the same way about the hubster's croque madame. We had their version of French Toast which was delicious, almost like rolled oats and bread with fruit. Such a lovely texture and flavor.

This is a decent option for breakfast/brunch on a weekend that wasn't packed, and wasn't populated with obnoxious wanna-be's eating their egg-whites and fat-free drinks like you get in Beverly Hills or WeHo. It's a solid neighborhood joint with a big menu. We may try lunch or dinner here just to see what that's like.

This is a real neighborhood restaurant. The surprise is that the neighborhood isn't in Paris but Culver City. It feels very authentically French. The food is excellent, the environment--especially the outdoor patio--is lovely (clearly there's a plant-lover in residence), and the service is friendly and prompt. I had enjoyed breakfasts and lunches here, had occasionally stopped just for a cup of coffee, but had bemoaned the fact that they weren't open for dinner. But NOW they are, and I am a happy camper.  I love a great salad at any time of day, and theirs are terrific. Not to mention their croque monsieur and madame on those special Francophil days. I'm happily working my way through their menu with a very bon appetit.

Such a lovely gem in Culver City!  When weather permits, be sure to sit outside during weekend breakfast/brunch service time.  There was an accordion player the last time we went which totally enhanced our dining experience. The food was very delicious, all 4 of us ordered different things and we all enjoyed it.  The portion was pretty good and the price was pretty reasonable for this side of the town.

Even though this place is on the small side and gets pretty packed during the weekend, they never ever tried to rush us off just so they can turn the table again.  They truly want you to sit there and enjoy your food.  Thank you for that Cafe Laurent!  We will be back :)

When you walk in, it's like--"ooh! french cafe! with french people!" lol Go outside to the patio and it's super cute!

So i went there for brunch and got the benedict with canadian bacon and potato gratin. My friend got the veggie omelet with a fruit bowl.

Honestly food was blahhh! Coffee was not good. The portion of my meal was too little for the price. Suprisingly the omelet was a generous portion but it was still decent--I can probably make a better omelet.

Overall, everything was bland. Presentation of the food is very nice but don't be fooled by the book cover. Nothing extraordinary. Maybe a little worse than ordinary. Never going back there.

Cafe Laurent, how do I love thee? This place is awesome. The food is excellent (an omlette that involves both brie AND avocado? Shut the front door), and everything is really fresh. The food beat out my other culver city brunch spot by a long shot in the taste department, and the atmosphere is really cute and inviting (we found out talking to the staff that they just redid all the decor). They don't serve alcohol, but you can bring your own. I'm definitely going to bring some champagne for mimosas and crepes next time! The whole staff here is super nice, and the owner is a riot and really sweet. Almost everyone here speaks French, and they have live music on the patio. Love love love this place, highly recommend, and will definitely be going back.

Went here for brunch on Easter.  Staff is VERY friendly, but pace of service is very European...slow.  Food was okay.  I've had better croque madame.  I was actually surprised it was served on wheat bread.  I would've preferred some thicker toast (instead of two slices) or maybe on some harder bread.  Noms.

My sister tried their omelet with avocado, brie, turkey and mushrooms. They are generous with the portions.

They do not serve alcohol here, but you can bring your own bottle and they'll uncork for $5.

I may come back here, but no rush.

We went on a sunday around noon with 4 people total. The parking wasn't bad. There was plenty of parking on the street surrounding the park.

We made reservations and were a little late but they seated us very quickly outside. The whole atmosphere screams "we're a legit french place". All the servers have a french accent, the decorations are french, all of the menu items start with Le, and they even had a guy on an accordion playing in the courtyard.

After several minutes of debating what to get, I ended up making my own omelet with Spinach, Goat Cheese, and Sun-dried tomatoes. Two of my friends got the french toast, which came out a little unexpected. All of the items they list on the menu under the french toast is actually in the french toast... including the croissant. Interestingly, the toast wasn't really toast... it was more like bread pudding.

The reason why I have a low rating of this place is because the service was extremely slow. I have been to brunch places much busier than Cafe Laurent, but it does not take 45 minutes to cook 2 omelets and 2 "french toasts". Their excuse was that they had a lot of people to serve inside the restaurant who arrived before us. As she's explaining this, I'm staring at a woman sitting at a table by herself, who arrived 15 minutes after us and is already half way through her meal.

It's in a rather curious spot in culver city and the atmosphere was nice, but it was such a bad experience that I will be trying other places before I come back here again.

Can't believe how long its taken me to try this place...Went for my bday brekky last weekend, mellow quaint spot. Only thing is no champagne which is a MUST most of the time for this foodie. Fret not grape lovers, you can byob, and there is a liquor store a couple of buildings down, problem solved, woot!

The food was fresh, nice portions for French dining and yes, all that you've read is true about the scalloped potatoes. The spinach quiche wasn't bad, and my babe was a fan of his omlette. Prices arent bad, and service is friendly. Sit outside on the cute lil patio, bring your bubbles, and enjoy a mellow kickback lil space.

Café Laurent is located on Overland Ave in Culver City right next to the Plunge. It's a cozy little French café with a great little dining patio as wel as interior dining room.

My partner in crime and I stopped by for a late brunch on a Saturday. Each of us ordered an omlette: (in English) the Atlantic (with salmon bits) and the Spanish (with chorizo).

The Atlantic was definitely the better tasting one, but both were well-made and cooked nicely: fluffy and well-seasoned.

The hosts and waiters were very warm and friendly. I'd be willing to go back.

Although I was a bit saddened that a few of their items are reserved solely for Sunday brunch and that the Yelp check-in offer for a free latte is only valid on weekdays.

I came here for brunch today with some friends and was quite impressed. I loved the eggs Benedict with salmon, though I wish it were served on something that were more substantial than a croissant. The croissant was a little tough and hard to cut. In any case, the eggs were done perfectly and I liked the potatoes, tomatoes, and avocado on the side. I thought my Americano was great and my friend enjoyed his espresso.

If it weren't ever so slightly out of my usual price range, I'd come back all the time.

Was looking for a lazy Sunday brunch spot and didn't want to wait in line somewhere too fancy.  Found this place on yet and it was just a few minute drive from my apartment so decided to try it out.  They got me with the outdoor patio.

It is tucked in a nice little corner next to a recreational park, ample street parking near by.  We were seated right away.

If you check in from FourSquare you can get a free latte with any omelette order.  The boyfriend got a hazelnut latte, which was good, nothing extra special.

He ordered the avocado and ham omelet which is HUGE, I don't know how many eggs went into that, but it was literally a size of a football.  It was delicious but due to the quantity he was not able to finish it.

I got the croque madame which was very good, very nice thick slice of bread.  The egg was prepared perfectly and nicely seasoned.  Got it with a side of fruit, which is mostly cantaloupe.

The service was decent, was left alone a lot of time to enjoy the weather and conversation.  Other reviews says that there is live music on Sundays.  Definitely think this is a great local joint to come to when you don't want the hustle and bustle of the brunch rush in Beverly Hills/Melrose.

Had a very satisfying lunch noming on Croque Madame, french version of ham and cheese sandwich w/ a sunny side egg on top. Delicious and not too heavy in flavor. Comes with a small leafy salad w/ tomatos and dressing, scallop potatos and bread w/ butter and olive spread in the beginning. I'll be back!

The breakfast here was really, really good and for the price, a steal. The servers were nice, the bus boys were nice, in general everyone was nice. At 8 am on Saturday we were the only people in the restaurant until about 8:30 am and that part was nice.

I had the waffle with bananas and she had the eggs benedict, special on top of croissants. AMAZING food! Seriously... and filling, but not heavy at the same time.

The parking situation here is pretty good too, street parking is plentiful in the morning and the best part for LA, FREE!

My only complaint is that they double charged my meal. I though that it was simply an extra hold on my account, but I actually got charged twice after the pending transaction date expired. A simple call to my bank got the problem fixed, but said problems are IRRITATING to deal with!

    I'll be back.

My friends and I went to this restaurant because of the Yelp reviews. The waiters were very nice.
When I checked into Yelp upon arriving at the restaurant, it offered me a deal - free latte when you order an omlette. So we did that, and I showed the waiter the offer.
A little bit later the manager? came up and asked to see the offer. I showed him my phone. He was like, 'normally that's just for weekdays, but I'll give it to you today.'
SHEESH... a $2-3 coffee is that big of a deal to you guys? AND no where on my phone offer did it indicate it was just for weekdays.
I thought that was kind of douchey.
Food was ok... Only had a crossiant, and kind of felt heavy in my stomach afterwards.
    Probably won't go back.

Like most of you, I hate making mistakes.  We came to the wrong spot and even without a reservation, They offered to sit us anyway(90% full).  Looking over the V-day Menu we noticed it was BYOW...Perfect.  We turned around went home grabbed a Friend's Bottle we had been looking to open.
The coursed meal was everything you hope for, small pauses between each course to sip and converse and Delicious food.  The Potato Leak soup was a home-run.  The Onion soup was enjoyed as was the two salads.  The Lamb was perfectly cooked with a nice sear for some texture!  The Filet was in a delightful cream sauce that was not overbearing as they tend to be!
The only issue...Out of the Chocolate desert(Choc freak and the bottle of Bedrock would have been happily consumed with some bitter Choc Pot)  But the Tart they did bring us was a 10/10 just not enough Chocolate...hehe
We of course will be back to try their dinner menu(Start opening for Dinner in March), and look forward to now trying the Brunch which seems to get rave reviews!

I came to Cafe Laurent and fell in love. The food is good, the waiters are friendly, and there is a lovely outdoor area to eat that makes you feel so far removed from the busy West Side.

My family and I ordered a variety of foods, from a salmon omelette, to a crepe provencale, to some chicken sandwiches. We all were pretty pleased, except for my sister who said her crepe lacked exciting flavor. Still, despite this place's "B" rating from the health department, we are all still alive.

Beware, though, that this place is run by French people, so don't expect lightning-quick service. That's fine by me, because I hate restaurants that make you feel rush and where staff hover over you, but some people might mistake the French style for "arrogance" or for being ignored. Just know what you're getting into: at least a one-hour experience.

All in all, the menu has a lot of interesting and good food on it, and I'd love to return when I'm in the area.

The check-in offer for the free latte (with purchase of omelette) is valid only on weekdays. When I viewed it on my smartphone, I didn't read that anywhere! BUT the owner or manager dressed in a dress shirt and slacks was very nice and gave It to me anyway. I'd really like to give this place high reviews for their service, but nothing about the food was phenomenal. Yes, it was good and edible, but nothing about it brings me back. I had the L'Espagnole omelette, the chorizo was unevenly scattered, the potatoes were delicious, I couldn't taste the panela (similar to mozzarella cheese but dryer). I got a side of fruit, which had grapes, pineapple, apple, honey dew, and cantaloupe. It was good, but get the side of potatoes instead! They have either melted cheese or some kind of gravy on top, and it was delish!

My last day in LA and my friend decides to take me to this place which is down the street from where she lives. Such a quaint little french cafe! Our waiter even had a french accent! Loved it!

Food:  So, as we sat down, they gave us bread and butter with jam. Yum! The butter reminded me of butter we had in Paris.  Maybe my palette doesn't quite remember how butter tasted like in Paris but, it was pretty dang good! As I'm munching on the bread and butter, I'm looking over the menu. My friend suggest that I try the Les Ouef Benedict and explained to me that there was some potato side thingy. That got me to order it! So,as our orders came, I was in awed at how yummy it looked! I've only had eggs benedicts once and it was pretty dang good! I tried the side potatoes first. YUM! I am such a starch junky that I was drooling...(ok not literally). I looked at the eggs (which was set on a croissant i might mention!) and I used my fork to try the hollandaise sauce. Yum! It was this yolky taste (which i love!!) I carefully poke my fork thru the yolk and POP! comes out the yolk from the eggs. It was a eggy mess! The eggs benedict came with three options, which were, canadian ham, mushrooms? and something else but I can't remember =[. Combing with the croissant and ham, it was a really nice texture. My dish came with three slices of avocado too! I combined all of them together and it was a delicious delight!  I left the tomatoes to my friends to munch on cause I'm not a veggie person. All in all,I would like to go back and try other stuff!

Service: Very friendly. They refilled our waters super quickly, which i really liked. The food came out quick while we chit chatted.

Ambiance: As said above, cute little cafe! Wish we sat outside though..we didn't even know we were allowed until other customers arrived! Heh.

Place is quaint, food is delish, outdoor patio seating is nice for brunch. One complaint is that they run out of butter croissants close to 11am, which is when i would like to have brunch on a wknd.
I loved their nutella crepes with bananas & strawberries. The meal was light and i didn't feel too guilty afterwards.
Their eggs benedict were pretty dang good~ bf ordered them, and i stole half of it! boy, i love sharing ;)
It's pretty much a packed house during the times i go, so sometimes i just grab a some butter croissants (if any) to go~

I have had great French food from several restaurants in LA. This is NOT one of those great places unfortunately. The food was OK hence the rating however the service was poor. We saw our waiter a total of two times. Once when we had to flag him down to place our order after waiting for 10- 15 minutes to get acknowledged, and then twice when we had to flag him down to get our check. For everything else in between we had to beg anyone that we could make eye contact with. And it was not even that busy. We live right down the street however I will be glad to drive a little and get a better experience next time.

I will preface with saying that I just completed a class studying queuing theory (including the psychology behind waiting in lines)...Cafe Laurent's waitstaff did NOT take said class.

When we came in, there was no structure or way to "put your name on a list"  in fact, it wasn't even clear to us why we were waiting.  It was just my boyfriend and myself and there were about 3 free tables.  Maybe one of them needed bussing, but to me that shouldn't have been a game stopper.

So we stood by the door, waiting to be seated.  Soon after we got there, a crowd was waiting by the door, and no one had started a list.  We ended up getting skipped by two older gentlemen (which I didn't mind, I'm always a fan of respecting the elderly, but that just shows there was a break in their system).

Anyway, when we finally got a seat, it took over 10 mins to get us a menu.  I ended up pulling up the menu on my phone so that we'd be ready to order once the waitress got over to us.

Literally 2 minutes before we were about to get up and walk out, she came, took our order.

I must say, for all the wait, lack of service, etc., I was hoping for the food to be spectacular...It wasn't.  I don't think I'll bother myself with that headache again.

On a nice note (since I don't like leaving reviews without a single redeeming factor) - I thoroughly enjoyed the lavender motif, with lavender sprigs on the table, growing outside, etc.  It's one of my favorite plants.

I really wanted to like this place so I gave it 2 chances.  The first time i ordered pancakes and they were raw on the inside.  Nothing ruins your appetite more than biting into raw pancake batter.

The second (and last) time I went there I ordered the eggs benedict with croissant.  I was told they were out of croissants. 11am on a monday and already out of croissants?  Not cool. So I switched my order to the breakfast sandwich.  The sandwich came out with no cheese.  I asked the waitress and she said. "Oh he must have forgot."  How do you forget cheese on a bacon egg and cheese sandwich? (Especially when I was one of 3 customers there and the other 2 already had their food.)

This place is really out of touch with what it takes to keep customers coming back.  Au revoir!

Sunday brunch! Great service, lots of delicious menu choices! We had the mushroom, brie & avocado omelet & the French toast (made from brioche) and are planning to head back another time!

Before heading back home, the SO and I decided to have breakfast here. We arrived at 8:15am and there were more people in line for to-go orders than there were sitting down. There was only one person to serve the counter and the tables so getting a table was slow even though they were almost all open.

I ordered the eggs benedict with smoked salmon. It comes with potatoes au gratin and slices of tomato and avocado. The SO ordered the "la complete" omelette which had brie, i think mushrooms, and turkey (or ham, whichever you prefer).

My breakfast came out a little on the runny side but it was still good. If it were not for the salmon, the dish would have been very bland.  The omelette was good but I'm not not the biggest fan of brie so I had one bite and I was just fine finishing my own breakfast. Usually we like to trade dishes in the middle of the meal just to change things up.. but we stuck to  what we ordered this time.

Service was suuuuuuuuuper slow. We ordered one iced coffee which wasn't even ready until AFTER we paid for the meal. The iced coffee was not even iced by the time we walked back to the car. It was terrible.

I understand how it can be hard to manage the to-go orders and all the dine-in customers, but they should really have an extra person on hand during the first hour of business on a Sunday. I did notice someone else who came in at 9am but by that time we were on our way out.

I think if I wasn't on a time crunch to get back to the airport I would have enjoyed my meal more and not cared so much about the slow service. I will be back but next time it will be on a morning when I have extra time to spare.

I came here for the first time for breakfast. The eggs benedict was insanely delicious but the staff was a little slow.

Went for lunch today and once again, the Bisquet Salad blew me away.

Basically, great food, decent service, cute location (with out door seating and relatively convenient street parking) and reasonable prices. Not a place to take your boss from out of town but definitely a cute neighborhood cafe. I'll definitely continue to explore their menu.

I knew that I wanted to serve quiche to go with the Ham I was serving for Chrinstmas Eve dinner. And a friend suggested I try Cafe Laurent.  I ordered 1 Loraine and 2 spinach. They were out of this world delicious!
Whenever I want quiche I know where to go!

This was bad and overpriced.  We started with a crab pupusa - terrible.  Rarely is there something I will not eat - this was dry, tasteless and a large chunk of flour with a teaspoon of crab.
Next was a salad of baby spinach with salsa - terrible.  I've seen a better salad prepared by 8 year olds.  Presentation was awful, flavor was better than the pupusa, but not by much.
My husband has the filet - tiny, I mean tiny!  The flavor was good though - he said, I didn't try it as it was the size of a silver dollar and about 1/4 thick.  I had a crepe that was average - mushrooms and cheese.
The only redeeming quality of this experience was the butter sugar crepe my husband ordered for dessert.  The rest was a borderline mess.

    Not authentic French at all!!!!
    Great portions and friendly attitudes.
    What a rip off ;)

It was a great find and breakfast was fantastic.
I'll go there again for sure.
