I just went by this business because I realized its totally a place I've walked by a million times but every time I get to Steinway and 35th Ave I go right towards the movie theatre and never left....well...I was in for a treat! The owners are SUPER nice and sweet and their coffee is fresh and hot plus they have a lot of other cool stuff.
I had a soft and buttery croissant with eggs and cheese and it was freshly made and really good. I also noticed they will make you yogurt smoothies with mango, pineapple whatev etc. They also have those aloe drinks, never had them but they look yummy and healthy. Anyways check this place out and enjoy!
This was an excellent spot to sit and have lunch. With a mellow atmosphere, and few seats (maybe a total of 10 inside), it never really gets overwhelmingly crowded. This does however mean that it isn't great for groups larger than 2 or so. The Philly cheese steak was very good as well as the coffee. The gentleman who took my order (I think it might have been the owner) had a very "Mi casa es su casa" feel. I did read the other posts on this and went expecting to head in there and do some work. Unfortunately, the free wi-fi is touch and go. It was completely out while I was there and the cashier didn't seem to have anything that he could do about it so I had to relocate after I ate. I would definitely go back for food, but not to work.
Bypass those other coffee shop choices on 35th Ave.
This place is locally owned, uses quality products and delivers with a smile.
I'm thankful for their:
early (and late) hours
good tunes
sandwiches
sweets
& wifi
Cafe Latte caught my eye as I passed by on my bike the other day but I didn't have time to eat there. Based on what I had seen from a quick inspection of the place I knew I had to return. So, today I had lunch there and was delighted to find a great little place in the neighborhood for a soup, sandwich, coffee or juice. This place has character and charm with exposed brick walls, high ceilings with antique tin, high glass doors that open onto the street and aluminum fixtures. The food is equally good. I had a escarole and bean soup and a Philly sandwich which were excellent. The soup was made-from-scratch and had a nice garlic accent with a very thick texture and very generous serving and the Philly was classic but not too greasy. I had a cappuccino which was very generously portioned if not a little too milky for my tastes but I'm sure the owner would be happy to adjust my preference. In addition to the great ambiance and food I have to say the vibe of the people working there is a breath of fresh air. So, I'm hoping I found my little joint to hang out in for my morning Joe and afternoon 'wich. You never know what you'll find if you look.
