This was much better than we expected!  The service was great and the food excellent.  My husband had Chicken Marsala Gnocchi and I had the eggplant moussaka which is the second best I've ever had.  Really enjoyed this place!

Maybe my expectations were too high?  With all the five star reviews, I really expected something great.  It was, as the stars indicate, A-OK.

Pros: Warm and inviting.  Yummy pita and hummus (our appetizer).  Seemed like a pretty good menu.  Pasta Acropolis had lots of chunky veggies.

Cons: We were never told the specials, even though I heard our server repeating it to all the tables seated after we were.  I was disappointed because I heard salmon which I would probably have gotten if it was offered to me.  Also, my husband's lamb chop was unevenly cooked.  You could literally see the line through it, top half medium, bottom half well done.  Weird.  I understand there's a bone in there which can make it difficult, but we go out to eat so someone else can cook that stuff evenly for us!

Overall, three stars.  It was good.  Not great, but good.

"More pita please!" Were the words my youngest niece continually asked the waitress. We love Cafe Langley, and have been going for years. There are a few good restaurants on Whidbey Island, but nothing compares with the deliciousness and warm ambiance of Cafe Langley, located in...Langley.

I took my nieces out to a movie and dinner as a Christmas present, and hands down, we decided this is where we should go. Both of them love trying new foods, and especially love the egg lemon soup they serve there (sadly it wasn't the soup d'jour, but somehow the girls were able to move on), and would devour if by the bucketful if allowed. They also love the homemade grilled pita that comes with every meal. I, personally, suggest you add the babaganouj to your order with the pita, because it doesn't get any richer and creamier than that.

The little one decided she was fine with a plate of noodles and cheese (which I was fine with, because it is a fairly expensive restaurant), and the older one and I decided to split an ample Greek Salad, and the Greek Sampler plate. It was more than enough food for us! The little one also had quite a helping of salad as well-fresh feta, olives, cucumbers, lettuce, red onion, and kalamata olives. Sooo good.

The Greek Sampler consisted of lambo gyro meat (niece got that), chicken kebab thighs (we shared), feta with onion, banana peppers, cucumber and tomato (we shared), 2 spanakopita (we fought over those), and tzaiki sauce to die for (it was scraped clean within minutes). They also brought out rice and a spinach dish that was sort of like the inside of spanakopita. I ate that before the niece realized what it was.

As if this wasn't enough, we decided we should have dessert, because, really that's why we'd come. I asked the girls if they wanted their own, because, according to them, all kids have a second stomach used only for desserts, but they thought they were too full. We ordered 2 Russian Creams with Raspberries. THIS. DESSERT. IS. TO. DIE. FOR. Creamy and perfect with a whole berry raspberry sauce. We had to teach the little one to "savor" it as she was inhaling great mouthfuls at a rapidly increasing pace. Halfway through she looked over at me and said, "I've learned my lesson. Next time I want my own."

    We'll be going back.

We spent the day on Whidbey Island and went to Langley first.  We were hungry, so I googled and found Langley Cafe.  I had expected a "cafe" of some sort, with sandwiches, etc - so it was a nice surprise to find we wound up in a Mediterranean restaurant.

We were really pleased, everything was satisfying and very good.  I got the falafel sandwich - the falafel was really moist, the tzatziki sauce was creamy and the pita itself tasted a bit buttery.  The Greek salad (on the side) tasted as fresh as can be.  The grape leaves (that we got as an app) were wonderful and tasted a little different (better) than the grape leaves I've had before and my one and a half year old son LOVED them.  The service was also perfect.

We were too full to order dessert, but judging by the reviews, we'll have to go back for that.

We always eat here when we're on Whidbey Island. The food is always fresh and delicious. One of the best veggie pitas I've ever had. Also, they have a vegetarian section of their menu with an amazing veggie plate.

We've lucked out and arrived just before the rush each time so never made reservations. But the place always fills up before we finish our meal.

The pita bread that is complimentary was warm and soft and I could have eaten several baskets of it. Yum!

This was a delightful surprise, as I'd have to admit I didn't expect so much from a Whidbey Island cafe right in the midst of a very populated (and captive) tourist area.  Although this place offers no views of the water, it was a cozy little place and we had a nice window seat good for people watching.  Our server was energetic, friendly and on top of her game.

Some once told me, always get the special.  And I'm glad I did (got the last one for the day too)!  The baked Pisticio (basically a Greek lasagne) was one of the most delicious Mediterranean dishes I've ever enjoyed.  The side Greek salad was good too, with a nice amount of tomatoes, olives and feta cheese.

Best sit down lunch in Langley. The Mediterranean menu is appealing. The lamb is always perfectly prepared. The specials are usually good. The staff is attentive and friendly. Locals love it. If you want to eat there during summer evenings, be sure to make a reservation.

UPDATE - Since I am no longer eating red meat (and I can't eat dairy), I find it difficult to find much to eat here for dinner, but I do still like it for lunch. The specials are varied and always offer something different and appealing.

The Yelp guidance system directed us to this spot, based on prior reviews. We had a great meal, a crisp Greek salad, a mixed grill with a lamb chop to die for and a marinated flank steak.  Great flavors, friendly service and reasonable prices, we will definitely go back.  JC

Completely average. However, I've had much better gyro meat in food courts and I don't think they have an autodoner. A bit pricey, too. We'll try some places on Second St. next time, instead.

On my road trip up Whidbey Island this past weekend, I first stopped in Langley to explore and have lunch. I didn't really know what I was in the mood for or what was a good bet. But the menu at Cafe Langley looked good and decently priced so I gave it a whirl.

Good call on my part! The Mediterranean themed menu made it so hard to choose, as many dishes sounded quite delicious. It was the mango salsa (see my review of Taco del Mar) that drew me to their tuna sandwich (served in pita bread!). As the picture I uploaded here will attest, the sandwich and accompanying greek salad were colorful and very nicely presented. What the picture will not attest to is how delicious and fresh the sandwich was. Good pieces of tuna steak with some sort of tasty sauce and the yummy mango salsa. I think I could have eaten two! The salad was also good and fresh, but maybe could have been a bit bigger, and that's my only complaint.

It wasn't too busy around noon on a Saturday, so the service was good. Four stars for sure, maybe even four and a half, but I'd wait until having another meal to go all out with five. Let's hope I get the chance someday!

My boyfriend's mom recommend this place to us.

The food was average. We got a greek salad, crab cakes and pita bread. We split everything.

The salad was really fresh, and good balance of lettuce to dressing. The crab cakes were small, but the sauces that came with them were really good! We requested tzatziki sauce with the pita bread, and it was average.

The service was so-so, our waitress was nice and our food came out quick. I do appreciate that she offered to clear the window seat for us. It was nice to see the dogs walking by and people nervously parallel park. We also loved to see the water.

This isn't on the top of my list when we come back to Langley but it is worth checking them out.

P.S. This place is listed as "Best Places to Kiss in WA"...give your sweetheart a kiss while there!

We arrived in Langley on a gray day and the food at Langley Cafe was a perfect introduction to the best of Whidbey Island.  We started with fresh, warm, and flaky spanakopita followed by the crab cake sandwich.  YUM!  The crab was unbelievably fresh, and garnished with a fresh mango-cilantro salsa served with Greek salad.

The best part was the uber-fresh seafood.  My boyfriend raved about his seafood platter as well, calamari, prawns, and white fish fried up with chips.  A little pricy, but it's the dawn of tourist season here on Whidbey, and considering this place is located in the heart of Langley on a touristy block, I guess that explains the hike in prices.  I'd eat here again.

My husband and I have eaten here three times, and each time we are quite impressed by the food and ambiance.  If you like lamb, their shish kabobs are huge!  They seemed a bit smaller last weekend than I remembered from before, but it's been a year and a half since we've been there.  I'd definiately order them medium, as we couldn't remember what we had ordered last time, so ordered them medium rare, which was just a slightly grilled rare.  It didn't tasted all that done, but it was still quite flavorful.   The hummus and pita bread are great!  Wish they could have added more (bigger) veggies, though.  And the desserts...  Make sure you save room for dessert.  My hubby's fav was the raspberry cream.  I adored the chocolate pot du creme.  We split a meal just so we would have room for dessert.  Yumm....

Came to Langley on a short weekend afternoon getaway before the sun disappears for the winter.  Never been here so decided to stop in at the cutesy little town.  After browsing around stopped here for lunch.  First greeted by a warm staff in a small, cozy dining area.  First thing our server did was turn down the music as it was a little loud, although I didn't notice until she said something.  It did make conversation much easier.  Had a gyro and greek salad, gf had a tuna sandwich.  Defitely would come back again

I enjoyed the Fruit Del Mar pasta dish and it was fantastic. Tons of mussels, scallops, and shrimp. The Raspberry Russian Cream dessert is good too. I would not plan going there with a large group. It is slightly cramped. We had 5 and felt crowded. I would also not bring kids here unless they are more adventurous eaters.

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious dinner Monday for our anniversary. My steel head salmon was cooked to perfection as was the sole stuffed with crab that my husband enjoyed.
The waitress seemed a bit subdued but helpful. Unfortunately after giving us our dessert with a lighted candle she came back right away and stuck the check holder right beside the lip of the dessert plate as if to say "that's it I'm done with you folks, move on." I can understand this tacky habit in a diner but in a 4 star restaurant I want the courtesy of waiting till I ask for the bill. Unfortunately this seems to be a growing trend in many nice restaurants.
The prices were reasonable. And the icing on the cake is the restaurant along with other Langley establishments donated 10% of their proceeds for the evening to Doctors without  Borders for Haiti.
All in all a good experience. I will come again as I have for years enjoyed this place for special nights out.

dinner saturday night was between 2 places: cafe langley and prima bistro, the italian place 2 doors down - both had 2 vegetarian options on the menu. hubby chose cafe langley.

the 2 items they offer are pasta acropolis and a vegetarian platter. the pasta was boring and bland, and had very little pasta under a huge mound of sauce. the vegetarian platter is a combo of babaganoush (the worst i've ever had, tasted bad and was pureed like baby food), hummus (too much garlic even for me), dolmas (small but very well spiced), spanakopita (overcooked, not enough filling), and marinated eggplant (eh).

middle eastern/mediterranean are usually the type of place where i can get traditional food that is vegetarian and done well. here they must focus solely on the meat, as other reviewers seem to like it a lot. we won't be back.

I had the Mediterranean Stew. It was very delicious. It was jamb-packed with seafood. My partner had the Pasta Bouboulina. It was good, but for the price, they could have used only chicken breast meat. The service was prompt and friendly.

We've been to Cafe Langley several times and it never disappoints. It's a great find for Whidbey Island. We're big fans of Mediterranean food. It's very warm and cozy inside and smells fantastic. We're always greeted with open arms there and get fantastic service to boot! I have my favorites on the menu - ahi wrap, chicken tortellini, greek salad, chicken sandwich etc. and love them all.

I had a beef gyros sandwich and the Greek egg lemon soup. Both were excellent. The sandwich was huge and full of veggies and large strips of freshly grilled meat. Nice atmosphere and good menu selection of Mediterranean dishes.
