Tuna salad, greek salad, and criss-cut fries are the best. 15mins to bake the fries, so make sure you have the time. They'll give you a heads up about that anyway. The pizza is garbage. Thick, doughy crust and canned mushrooms. gross.

Owned by brothers, one is usually miserable and the other is very friendly. With the exception of the driver, the staff is changing every 6mos or so and they continue to hire the worst people in Cambridge. Even worse than those silver spoon college kids that intoxicate Cambridge. But it doesn't matter because the food is always fresh and the yogurt is something to always look forward to.

    My dear foodies,

I will try to keep this as short as possible because I know "Time is money". I have been ordering my lunch from Cafe Kiraz for almost 5 years. I do work in the area and sometimes I get to lazy to get off my chair and grab lunch so I just call them.
    1) They are ALWAYS smiling and VERY, VERY, VERY nice. I can feel when someone is smiling on the phone. Trust me.
    2) They know they're customers by their first name. I have a bit of an accent and sometimes it is hard when you order stuff, but this people....they already know where I am and what my name is. I know...I know...they have my # in their computer system but still....they remember my name...and where I am coming from.
    3) When you pay $7 - $8 for a sub, you wanna make sure is big enough to fill you up. There is so much turkey breast..and green apples....and nuts....and goat cheese...that you can even split the food with your co-workers. If they deserve it. :)
    4) THEY HAVE THE BEST JASMINE RICE I have ever had. EVER.

If you go in to pick up your stuff, they are nice to you, all the guys are so cute :) and they make sure you are happy.

Last but not least....the drivers....they deserve their tips and more. They are nice, sociable and if you are in a bad mood, they will say something funny to cheer you up.

FOOD TO TRY: meatball sub (I am addicted to it), Jasmine rice, any of the frozen yoghurts, green apple and nuts sandwich.

    Love ya'! :)

I learnt a lesson.  I had dismissed this place, merely because their food is not very nice.  One Saturday morning, having entered the realm of the unwell, I had to leave S&S (for the last time, odious place).  I had still not eaten nor had coffee, so I ducked in here in desperation.

They looked after me very well.  They saw I was none too lively and it seemed mere humane hospitality to them.

    Bless them.

I like this place although I have never been in it.  I have vendors bring lunch into my office about once a week and this place is on the rotation of places I send them to pick up food.  So far so good as I have not ordered anything I did not like.  I just had the Patriots pastrami slash corned beef sandwich which was good.  I have also had the chicken and peppers wrap which was also good.  Give it a shot!

Meh. Don't expect much from the food. It's cheap and the menu is admittedly more extensive than the typical sub/pizza joint, but quality is uneven at best.

I've had dry, mealy falafel here and I was really disappointed. I feel like I've been to similar takeout joints and have been happy with the falafel there. I knew not to expect Falafel King levels of greatness, but I hoped it would at least be decent...or not so dry. Blegh.

The best bet here is probably the traditional greasy takeout food. Meatball subs are everything a meatball sub should be. Have I had better? Yeah. But I paid more. And this is the prototypical meatball sub. Nothing wrong with that.

The garlic bread is also delicious. You really can't go wrong with garlic and butter.

The salad selection does give Cafe Kiraz a boost-- many more options than just about anywhere I've seen. A little pricey, but it's a lot of food, and a better salad than most. But again, don't expect the best or freshest salad in the world. The tomatoes are going to be pink and watery. You get what you get, but at least you have a variety of options-- I like the salad with grilled tofu myself. It's good for two meals!

The frozen yogurt is good. Another thing you can't go wrong with. But I wish they had a few more mix-in options. When I lived nearer to the Back Bay/Northeastern area I remember carrot cake frozen yogurt being ubiquitous. And it was my favorite. Why no carrot cake love, Cafe Kiraz? Whyyyyy?

But I am pretty fond of my alternative, which is usually some combination of chocolate, peanut butter, and marshmallow flavors. Mmm, s'moresy.

The service is pretty meh, and I've had a few issues with delivery here and there.

Overall I think Cafe Kiraz is a decent choice if you've got a hankering for garlic bread, a salad beyond the garden variety (har har), or frozen yogurt. But it's nothing to go out of your way for.

I just got a grilled chicken with prosciutto, except the prosciutto was just some gnarly ham. I know prosciutto is kind of like ham, but it's not ham, so don't put prosciutto on the menu if you're serving ham, because it's lying. I got a meatball sub there that was pretty decent but after this slimy mess of a sandwich I think I'm all set with Cafe Kiraz.

Ah, Cafe Kiraz, my feelings for you are oh so conflicting.

Why I really, really like you:
    - Quick delivery (like 25 minutes!)
    -Tasty food (flavor-wise)
    -Great salad/sandwich options
-Lots of options for those of us who don't eat animal products
-THEY HAVE BEETS. I love beets.
    -Laaaaaaarge portions.

Why I always hesitate to order from you:
-Dry falafel (it tasted good, but was dry! sadface.)
    -Icky hummus
-The veggies in my sandwich weren't mixed up well...half was lettuce, and half was tomatoes...
-The pita isn't too flavorful, either.

I know this review seems more on the negative side, but I can honestly say that I did enjoy my meal tonight. At the moment, I am a super stressed student and have no food in the house....so hello, http://foodler.com. It was super easy to order, too.
Try this place out! Just avoid the "bad" bits.

PS- Opt out of their sprouts...they're just stringy and flavorless.

Ordered through seamless for something quick to eat. The menu had many, many options- especially there ice cream and milk shake menu. I put in special instructions for lots of ketchup and got none. Other than that my experience was good. I had a grilled chicken sandwich that had a sun dried tomato spread and it was amazing! The delivery time was quick and it was HOT when I received my order :)

Their sandwiches are so damn tasty. They're fresh, well made & just full of good taste. Making a good sandwiches is an art form & they know how to do it. They have grilled paninis, wraps, salads, sandwiches & a whole other list of items on their menu. The other bonus is they deliver & have ice cream, tofu ice cream w/ tons of toppings. Yummy goodness.

I've been a loyal Cafe Kiraz customer since I moved to Boston. That's five years worth of ordering takeaway, delivery, and referring countless friends and colleagues to this place.

Today they lost my business for good. I don't know who was working during the lunch rush, but the wonderful sort of F you kiss off that I got today has me done with this place for good.

My delivery order was super late and I was worried that the driver might have gotten lost. I called and was asked to hold. Two minutes went by and it was obvious I'd been forgotten about. (Yes, two full minutes - my phone has a timer on it). I called back and quickly asked the woman on the phone whether the driver was having some trouble getting to my place of business b/c I'd had some missed calls from an unfamiliar number. Her response? "I'm really busy and I can't check on that ::click::" - yup - she hung up the phone on me.

When my sandwich did arrive the delivery driver just left it with my door man. I went down to retrieve it and it was GROSS. Missing a bunch of the things I'd ordered (and been charged for) totally dried out, crumbling, and on a wrap that tasted completely stale.

After five years the love affair is over. Take your business elsewhere. Me? I'll just order from PIta Pit from now on.

Cafe only two blocks from my apartment with a tasty and expansive menu including any flavor of fro yo you can image? One would think I would be there on a weekly basis.  Instead, I have had to make a pact with my husband never to return there.  Why? THE STAFF ARE MISERABLE. Or, I should clarify, the manager is miserable.  I have been there only a handful of times, and each time he found some way to ruin the visit.  He has yelled at other staff in front of me, made snarky comments as I am trying to order, and on one occasion got into a straight up argument with my husband about why he felt it was totally normal for him to have pictures of sandwiches on his menu that he does not actually sell.... My advice is skip the experience altogether, but if you desperately need some fro yo on a Sunday afternoon, make sure you have your shields up.

I used to go to Cafe Kiraz for sandwiches (the Bruins sandwich is usually delicious), but I've had such bad experiences with the staff that I won't go back.

The workers in the store aren't always helpful or friendly. I think their customer service needs an overhaul. They've screwed up pick-up orders by overcharging me (for salads, at that), and have put me in really tough situations for parties and events. **Make sure you get them to tell you the prices up-front when you order, and be vocal if something (like a salad) seems way too expensive.** I got charged $50 for one, for example. That being said, the owner has contacted me and apologized about things that have happened. I respect that, but it doesn't change what all has gone down.

I'll say that I really like the sandwiches, and that the salads are okay, but the pizza is way too greasy for my taste.

It's been a while since I've been here since I moved out of the neighborhood. I used to love their curry chicken salad sandwich. It was one of my favorite things ever to eat. With apples and shredded carrots. It was brilliant.

Now, I'm a vegetarian. I think it might be different. But they have a fantastic selection, and good quality stuff.

They deliver. Sometime soon I'm going to see if I can get them to deliver to my new location (it's not THAT far, just not next to my laundromat anymore). I'll update this then. But I do really like this place. The people are nice - not very friendly, but always courteous and helpful, and they'll give you what you ask for, which isn't something you can always expect. Kids these days!

Fro-yo gets the chicks and gay boys a flockin' like Hugh Hefner or Donna Summer's up in there. Maybe this 3.5 star review could be bolstered up if my exchange with the cashier hadn't gone like this:

Me: Hi there, can I get a bbq chicken sandwich, please?
    Her: Huh?
    Me: A bbq chicken sandwich.
    Her: Um. In a wrap?
    Me: Nope, a sandwich, please.
    Her: You want bread?
    Me: Yes, please.
    Her: Here or to go?
    Me: Do you have wi-fi?
    Her: Huh?
    Me: Wi-fi?
    Her: What?
Me: Wireless internet. Do you have it?
    Her: Uh. No.
    Me: Okay, to-go then. Thanks.

That was a difficult conversation. Phew. Though the guys were nice. Then ten minutes later, after looking around the messy (thought not dirty) cafe with bright walls and hordes of hurried employees scurrying back and forth. I got my sandwich on a delightfully toasted roll, to-go. Now there was enough chicken to be a hen and her whole brood but it was briny and slathered in this red, sweet and sour Chinese food sauce looking stuff that was really unappetizing. I think I'm guilty of ordering the wrong thing. Visit #2 shall commence sometime next week. Or I'll take advantage of that free delivery.

    Update:
Ordered the chili. NOT vegetarian like their menu says. And it seriously tasted like someone dumped a pint of vinegar into it. It wasn't thick or hearty like I'd been expecting. Totally inedible.

So I called them and they promptly delivered the Italian Wedding soup as suggested but I was so, so disappointed when I tried it. The sodium burn was worse than a can of Progresso's. It tasted like hospital food. Have I been going to the same restaurant as all of you?

I can't believe this little hole in the wall has such amazing tofu sandwiches and salads etc.  Beware if you order a frozen yogurt - they give you a full pint!  Their foccacia is great.  I think the potato salad has bacon in it, but that seems to be the only thing on the menu that isn't clearly marked non vegetarian.  The marinated and grilled tofu is yummy.   I do not recommend the garden salad as it's basically just iceberg lettuce and is unfortunately the only salad you can get in a soup or sandwich combo.  Otherwise, everything I've had there is great.

Edit - I was hesitant to try the falafel as I thought it may not be one of their strong suits, but woo hoo!  I was dead wrong, it's really flavorful - get it with humus and pickles and you're set.  Their hot sauce is Frank's Red Hot, so don't bother.  Garden vegetable soup is great too.  Baklava rocked my world.  The only thing I do not like about Kiraz is that although everything they serve is gutbustingly HUGE, I have to finish every bite because it's that good.

I'm so glad this place is nearby! $7 minimum for delivery and no delivery fee! We got the HS2 (turkey, onion, swiss, tomato, pesto, mesculun mix) on wheat bread and a #35 sandwich (fresh mozzarella, tomato, basil) on a French roll. Both were solid, but nothing we couldn't make ourselves. But did we want to make it ourselves? No. That's why we called Kiraz!

My tomato, basil mozzarella was a little bland, actually, so I dipped it in my own olive oil/balsamic vinegar mixture. The French roll was the perfect texture. Good "stuff"-to-bread ratio, too.

I also got a frozen yogurt with raspberry - pretty good stuff. Just don't expect Berry Line/Pinkberry-type froyo. This is old-school, TCBY kinda froyo.

The woman taking my order could've been friendlier, but she did her job, took our order and everything went according to plan.

Frozen yogurt... ehh, it's good, but not creamy and fatty...  I'll stick with ice cream.   Eat dessert... go FULL FAT.....

Eggplant wrap....  HUGE...  but not much flavor..  didn't taste any seasonings at all.   More of a peppers wrap than an eggplant wrap, so much peppers, so little eggplant.  A bit disappointed at that.

At $6 something-  good for wallet, but not for tastebuds.  Banana-walnut frozen yogurt I had could've used more banana flavor too.

Go out of my way to eat here?  Probably not, but I'll definitely stop in for a frozen yogurt if I'm on that street.  Nice guys, very friendly.

It might sound silly, but if Cafe Kiraz somehow sprouted a shapely pair of legs then walked to my apartment and told me that I could have all of their magnificent double stuffed sandwiches I could eat as so's long as I broke up with my girlfriend, well, I'd be single and disgustingly fat.

The thing about the Kiraz menu is that it sneaks up on you. The first couple times you order - had you not sampled the food beforehand - it's possible to think that the place is above average and worth ordering from again.

And that's when those crafty Kiraz-ians have you in their clutches; drawing you in like freshman frat boys to a cardboard cutout swimsuit model selling light beer.

The food here is deceptively fantastic. Take for example the vegetable soup; the broth actually tastes like something much more than warm water with a hint of whatever veggie medley has been stewing in it for the past five days and the vegetables themselves are more than just overcooked, limp, tasteless stalks of gross. The straight-from-the-garden integrity remains floating in a delightfully spicy/tangy juice. Outstanding stuff. Also recommended is the chicken and rice soup. Forget everything else you've ever had. The stuff be the bomb.

However, in my mind the best things the Cafe Kiraz has to offer are their incredible, gut-busting double-stuffed sandwiches.

    Oh. My. Lord.

You know, I've heard it said that it's near impossible to screw up a sandwich, but it's difficult to get one absolutely perfect. Kiraz has done just that with their combinations of turkey, roast beef, corned beef, bacon, Russian dressing, pickles and red onion piled Hancock Tower high between two toasted pieces of some of the best foccacia you'll ever have. Each one of these masterpieces is named after a different Boston sports team and unlike the Bruins or the Celtics, they're all winners.

The wraps from Kiraz are - much like the D-listers on VH1's 'Celebrity Fit Club' - on the plus size - every ingredient packed to the point of bursting in some tasty, tasty bread, while their prices would put any blue-light special at K-Mart to shame. Six bucks for a wrap that will last a normal-sized person for at least two days and would feed a Nicole Richie for at least a month. Maybe two.

I confess, I've only had the frozen yogurt once and the flavor was peanut butter. It tasted like peanut butter and wasn't annoyingly thick. Personally, that's all I look for in a frozen yogurt so Kiraz is still batting a thousand on my scorecard.

Cafe Kiraz is a necessity on any food sampling that is to be done while in the Boston/Cambridge/Somerville area. Really.

Cafe Kiraz will always be special because it is forever linked with my first time being injured with a spoon.

I got a dangerously sharp spoon with my tasty frozen yogurt and soon noticed my delicious frozen confection was covered in crimson blood. My blood. But it was tasty so I finished it anyways as it was no reason to waste a perfectly good dessert or my perfectly good blood.

My vampiric moment aside: Sandwiches are good, drinks are good, but do skip the pizza. It's just tasteless and all around disappointing. The calzones are considerably better. In general it's wonderful to see what appears to be your typical pizza/sandwich joint that's so vegetarian/vegan friendly and serves ample amounts of caffeine. While Kiraz is great for take out but the inside is a bit chaotic (the workers who I assume are all family-members argue a lot) and the seating uncomfortable and stuck in cluttered corners.

The search for good pizza in Cambridge continues.

Finallllly made it out to Kiraz for lunch. There was a little confusion regarding the definition of a "roll" and what the prepositions surrounding that word might imply ('on' versus 'in', long story), but the owner went out of his way to make it all better. The result? Yumminess, an appeased customer, an extra star on Yelp, and a happy belly.

We got some of their famous fro yo to go. We watched in fascination as the guy inserted a giant yogurt log into an old school machine. For a mere $3.25 we hightailed it out of there with a large yogurt-packed container, complete with butterfinger bits. Thankfully, we only got one to share, because two of us could barely finish the thing.

A solid addition to the delivery option list .

This place is great in so many ways but lacks in minimal  ways... if I can put it that way. Let's start with why it's so great:

1). They deliver ( it's nice when you're confined in your house because its raining, or simply, you're just too damn lazy to leave your house, or both).

2). Not only do they deliver food, they deliver coffee/lattes to you (again, if you're too lazy to get some...you get the point).

3). They have a large menu of things to order from: hot and cold sandwiches, different types of bread to choose from, wraps, soups, ice cream and yogurt, smoothies and more...

4). You can get olive pate on your sandwich--yum.

Now for it lacks a little...:

1).   If you like meat but not want to eat/taste more meat then bread on your sandwich, this not is the place for you. I hate it but I will still order from them. The annoyance will endure when you have to take out the meat with your fingers. One might qualify this as sheer laziness but, still, its more annoying then laziness...

2). The latte is not that great (but if you're lazy too go out and buy one-- the latte is not Starbucks).

All and all, this place is "orderable". They seem to use fresh ingredients  in the sandwiches and wraps. They have olive pate--who does that! Love it. And its not nasty Chinese delivery that probably has MSG in the food.

Honestly, I'm not a frozen yogurt person. Ice cream always tasted better and seemed like a better use of calories. But nary a week goes by before I'm back again at Cafe Kiraz for my fro yo fix-- it's just so damn good. Usually a fan of chocolate-based dessert items, I tasted a friend's and found an unbelievable combo--mango and raspberry. It tastes like heaven, the fruit tastes fresh and just-chunky-enough, and the portions are enormous.

As far as food goes, I don't usually get it, but when I do, it's been so-so, perhaps a little overpriced for what it is. The ambience leaves a little to be desired--I sometimes walk up the street a block heading NW to a little park on the street corner (which also leaves something to be desired) to enjoy my fro yo on a nice day.

My vote: 5 stars for the yogurt, 3.5 for everything else.

Yelpers were right, I was wrong about this place, so a rereview. The salads are pretty good, with lots of yummy ingredients. Take the mesclun salad, with sun-dried tomatoes, black olives, goat cheese, and very fresh avocado slices. Or the spinach and grilled chicken salad, with pine nuts, sun-dried tomatoes, shredded parmesan, and olives.

I've tried the frozen yogurt (e.g., blended with cookies and pistachios), both fat-free and sugar-free, and the frozen tofu (e.g., blended with pistachios and walnuts). All are excellent. The brownie sundae is pretty yummy.

Delivery is good, prices are very low. The pizzas and calzones are much more than adequate. Some of the wraps are pretty good.

I recommend Cafe Kiraz for delivery through http://www.campusfood.com or http://www.foodler.com.

Care to customize your meal?  The Kiraz experience is liberating in that they have all the ingredients imaginable for wraps, sandwiches, pizzas and salads.  Carefully constructed sandwiches to your exacting specifications is the norm.   They also have innumerable ingredients - ranging from candybars to nuts - to fill your frozen yogurt.

This is the place to eat cheaply, healthily... and it tastes great.

    A neighborhood favorite!

fro yo delivery = Awesome. Good healthy food. It's nice to not have to resort to pizza & calzones if you are feeling like a shut in. I like their stuffed pita's and salads. They offer a good spread and it's not all cheese & dough.
I ordered through foodler and I'm noticing a trend of all restaurants ignoring order directions on the website. But, I guess those are the breaks of having a middle man.

Great place to go for a frozen yogurt on a warm evening. The pizza is ok, and nothing is too expensive.

The only issue I've ever had is with the service. There seems to be one guy working there who actually works and the other employees just stand around avoiding eye contact with you because they know they're being useless.

My roommate thinks Cafe Kiraz looks like a convenience store. It kind of reminds me of the snack shop at Crane Beach with its swinging screen door at the entrance.

Either way, when I'm too lazy to get off my ass and pick up lunch, I order from this place on foodler. I always get the BLT with mayo on foccacia, and some other small item to meet my delivery minimum of $7.

The sandwich always tastes good, but sometimes makes me feel full and gross. Sometimes, I order a Nantucket Nectar juice and get Snapple instead, or a pellegrino comes as a poland spring water. meh.

Today, one of the employees called me to clarify a question on my order, and their delivery to Cambridgeport and Inman has always been speedy...so small mistakes and heartburn aside, three shiny ones for Cafe Kiraz.

I love Kiraz because of the melty ooey gooey hot grilled HS5 (prosciutto, tomatoes, mozzarella, basil leaves-- I recommend getting it on focaccia), the grilled peach and plum salad, and the frozen yogurt with a huge varieties of mix-ins- for totally reasonable prices.  We get delivery from them, and they come almost all the way to Davis Square for us!  The only thing is it usually takes about an hour- but I think it's just because we're far away.  When we get take out, it's very fast- and always very delicious.  My roommates also love the buffalo chicken calzone.  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

EDIT: All of a sudden, they started coming faster on delivery!  SUPER!  Now I have no complaints whatsoever.

The review I am giving this place is hard to write because it is based on the service.  The food from Cafe Kiraz is incredible.  They have a wonderful selection, everything is delicious, and they cater to vegetarians which is very important to me.

But the customer service is some of the worst I have experienced EVER and I eat out a lot and get a lot of food delivered to my job.  Literally - I don't know what the F! is wrong with these people, especially the delivery guys.

The first time we got food delivered from them, the driver didn't get out the car, made me come outside to get a bunch of food, and had the nerve to complain about his tip.

The second time wasn't so bad...the delivery guy actually had the decency to get out of his car and come to the lobby of my job, and call me to come downstairs to get my food...and waited for me to come pick up the food...unlike the next guy.

Mind you, these are THE ONLY PEOPLE that do that.  Everyone else comes right to my desk to drop off the food, especially if it is a large order.

The third time was really the charm.  This jerk face calls me to come pick up the food downstairs...fine...no problem.  Used to their sucky attitude...I literally take 3 minutes (if that) to get downstairs to the lobby, which is a public lobby filled with people, and I am looking around for a man with a bag that could be from kiraz...

I see a gentleman standing by a bag and figure its him so I walk up to him and ask him...are you from Cafe Kiraz?  No I'm not he says...sorry.  Thanks.

So I'm looking around the lobby like where is this guy, he JUST called me.

Then it hits me...the bag next to the guy I had just asked is my food.

Yes people, the delivery man couldn't wait the 3 minutes it took me to get downstairs, so he LEFT OUR FOOD ON THE FLOOR IN A PUBLIC LOBBY.  This is after being tipped $8.00 for literally drving 3 minutes from Hampshire Street over to Memorial drive in Kendall.

Again, the food - amazing.  But I can't deal with miserable people who apparently hate doing their job.  I could understand if I was rude and didn't tip well, but every one else that I order from, I have a great relationship with the drivers and the people who actually work the restaurant.  I do a lot of catering and we order food about 3-4 times a week for lunch.

I'm sure it is completely different when you go there and get the food from the restaurant, but as far as delivery goes, the worst experience I have ever had.

Ever since the glorious day several months ago when I was browsing Foodler for dinner and opted for Kiraz's smoked salmon, caper, and goat cheese sandwich, I have been madly in love with this place.

Everything I've ever ordered has been delicious (with a special nod to the above mentioned salmon sandwich, as well as the tuna melt) and they have always honored my requests for bread substitutions (the wheat bread is much better than the french roll).  I have a growing collection of plastic tubs from their frozen yogurt, which is perfect and available in dozens of flavors, though I almost always pick the mint chocolate.  Also notable are the milkshakes, which can be made with any of the froyo flavors.  There are inherent dangers involved in having a local supplier of cheap, deliverable froyo, but hey, it's fat free.

Delivery is almost always extremely fast, and when it isn't the delivery guys apologize.  Once I swear my order came within fifteen minutes.  I also enjoy taking the walk over there sometimes.  It's comfy and low-key inside, the staff are friendly, and it's on the way to the Kendall theater!

I find the prices very reasonable, especially considering that portions are huge and you can often get two meals out of a single sandwich.  The sheer variety of offerings, from sandwiches to salads to pizza, can't be beat.  The menu includes lots of creative and unexpected options that you won't find at the local sub/pizza joint.

Kiraz is my favorite place to order food, and I love it very much.
