This was my favorite spot when I lived here for grad school a few years ago, so it was top on my list of places to revisit on my recent trip to ATL.

The vibe in this place is awesome at any time.  I love that it can be a bar, a lounge, a coffee shop, a date spot, etc. all in one.   I agree the original luster seems to have waned a bit, but it's still a favorite after all these years.

The Boston Cheesecake was always my favorite, and still does not disappoint!  I still wish I had tried the mint chocolate cake though - it was huge and looked divine.  The coffees are good, the dinner items are decent and the seafood appetizer was damn near amazing.

Cafe Intermezzo, won't you please open a location in DC??

When we arrived it was quite crowded.  It seems to be a cross between a bar, cafe and restaurant all within the first 15 steps inside.

The menus are unnecessarily long with too many options of coffees, desserts and after dinner drinks.  As others have written- the location is quite dated.

If your are looking for dessert after a nice dinner (somewhere else)  and Intermezzo is on your way home- take out.

I heard people talk about this place all the time when I first moved to midtown. I never knew what it was for years but finally went in about 2003 or 2004, right about the time I became old enough to enjoy it, if you know what I mean.

I know a lot of people come here for desserts. I have never really been a dessert person, and when I do, I stick to the basics. I like chocolate cake, ice cream (though I am going to try and give that up), and maybe a cookie. I am not a fan of desserts with fruit on them which this place seems to have in spades. I have heard good things though.

The best thing about this place to me is the drink menu. They have a lot of interesting beers, but most are bottled, which I understand at a small place. Their specialty is their long list of mixed drinks, which are always quite exciting. There are pages and pages of concoctions that will amaze you.

I was turned off this place at first because the first time I went my friend ran over my foot in the parking lot when I was attempting to help her park. I was not too amused, but that was mainly due to her poor driving skills than Intermezzo having a crappy parking lot.

I really like the lighting in there, as darker places fit my personality better. Too many lights reflecting off my skin might blind people, and I like darkness anyway.

Intermezzo should get three stars from me solely because of their extensive dessert menu.  However, with all other factors considered, I am not impressed.  The Buckhead location has turned a tad rundown and does not seem what it used to be.

The place is stuck with an identity crisis: "Are we a cafe?"  "Are we a restaurant?" or "Are we a bar?"

Yesterday I encountered this disarray of existence with the groups present at the Cafe:  One loud group of boys who should have been at a sports bar sat smack dab in the middle of one of Intermezzo's rooms.  I had to change seats because I could not hear myself think.  Others came and scurried along because of their dissatisfaction with the noise.

Next, the service sucked.  Our server was absent and took forever to get our drinks.  Also, the dessert person did not know her cakes from her pies, and got a couple of the dessert descriptions mixed up.  Thankfully, the bartender was there to save us and quickly corrected her mistakes.

My Mediterranean wrap was OK, and I loved my Franziskaner Hefe-Weissier which, at 16.9 ounces, hit the spot.

Our Almond Chocolate Cake was great, but was supposed to be served heated up and clearly wasn't... Either that or our server took too long to pick it up which certainly may have been the case.

One last gripe, the bill did not match the prices on the menu.  My Cafe Intermezzo was supposed to be $3.50 but came on the bill as $4.  My sandwich was supposed to be $7.50 but came on the bill as $8.50.  Hence, beware of the $.50-$1.00 increase of menu items (on the bill, that is).  Typically I would have said something, but we just wanted to get the hell outta there at that point.

My conclusion after my last Intermezzo experience is to take it to the Perimeter location next time... I will keep my fingers crossed they will have better service and environment, because I really want to continue liking Intermezzo.

The first time I went here was for a dinner date with my husband. Looking at the atmosphere we knew that it was a cozy place to have a good conversation. When we got the menu it was a bit overwhelming with the book of drinks. The dinner menu was a lot smaller so it was easier to get through. I ordered lasagna and he got the turkey burger. Both was just ok.
Then we went back for another date and all we ordered was the cake and it was the best think I have had in my life. He had the cheese cake and I had the cannoli cake and WOW!!. if you go here go only for the desserts and the drinks because they will excite and please you.

First review, here we go. Damn this is a dissapointing place as far as city places go. I let some friends of mine talk me to coming down here saying I needed to try more foods and see new things. I already do that all the time just living here in Atlanta. I didnt need to wait 15 minutes to order my food which wasnt that impressive anyway. I didnt need to wait close to 30 minutes to get my food which is twice the price and half the quality you can get a from Penera Bread. They got a lot of different alcohol but I dont drink. They do have a really good coffee milkshake with real coffee adn real ice cream but i can make that at home. I bet i would like it more if I drank and my sisters cake was really good that earns it an extra star for 2 stars.

Disclaimer:

I have not been to this establishment since 1999 when I was a senior in high school, so I can not really tell you if this place is as I remember it.  I was disappointed to read another yelper's review that this place has become a little run down.  So, this review is purely for nostalgia.  To continue...

Growing up in an Atlanta suburb, this was where my friends and I would go to be adventurous and act "sophisticated" in Buckhead.  We started going here the summer after our junior year, and made it a tradition for about the next two years.  We even dubbed ourselves as a secret society, and all kept copies of the menus with each member's names written inside.  It sounds pretty silly looking back, but we had a great time.  Somehow even with our baby faces, we managed to get served brandy and cigars while underage.  I guess our less than stellar fake ID's did the trick.  Great times were had sitting on the patio out back and I still have the pictures to prove it.  Also, the desserts were amazing.  I miss this place, and hope to have a intermezzo club reunion here one day.

A friend suggested we meet here for coffee and a bite. Having never been, we were on our way. Our waitress was very nice, the place was dead on that particular Saturday morning.

The eggs over Croissant with potatoes was enjoyable. The potatoes were covered in a bit too much oil for my liking, it made them come across as bland.

I am not a coffee drinker but their Toffee Coffe-cino was amazing! Served up hot, with whip cream on top and chocolate chips. It would be perfect as a dessert. Excited to see one close to work, will have to try that one out!

I've been here a lot in the past, but I'm going to rate it based solely on my last experience.

It was my birthday and I wanted to just go out and have some dinner and hang out with a few friends. We ate at Uncle Julios and then decided to head to Cafe Intermezzo which is across the street because they have an awesome selection of wine, spirits and coffee.

One of my friends and I decided to try absinthe. I had been wanting to for a long time, but never have. I know enough about it to know how it's supposed to be served (with a slotted spoon, some sugar cubes and ice water). What we got was a shot of absinthe in a glass. Nothing to actually prepare it the way you're supposed to.

Ok, absinthe is about 150 proof so we were drinking it straight. It was so potent, it was literally clearing out my sinuses like vick's vapor rub.

We asked the waitress if they had slotted spoons and asked for some water. They didn't have any slotted spoons so we had to improvise and use the sugar cubes from the table and a regular spoon and that didn't work out so well but it was better than drinking it straight. gawd.

It's great that you serve absinthe. Hooray! I finally tried it, something I hadn't done when I lived in NYC or when I had been to Canada recently but come on! At least serve it the proper way. I think my throat was literally burned drinking it straight.

I will go here (or maybe one of the other locations) in the future, but I won't be ordering anything out of the ordinary.

This cafe has a very nice and intimate atmosphere to it, and the decorations/designs help you feel cozy. We came in on a Friday early evening for some tea, coffee drinks, and desserts. I kinda wish we were coming in for breakfast/lunch/dinner so we could try some items on their extensive menus.

Unfortunately, as far as the coffee drink and desserts go, I wasn't thoroughly impressed. I love white-chocolate and decided to try their hot white-chocolate drink. They only had large cups (around $6-8), and I figured I'd take home the remainder of my drink. The hot-chocolate ended up being way too sweet and surprisingly did not taste like white-chocolate.. ended up not taking that home. As for the desserts, the girls and I shared two of of the many available options the cafe offered. There was nothing particularly special about the cakes, and I think the cake selection lost its magic on me whenever the bartender told us that the cakes actually came in from a different bakery.

I did, however, think the restrooms were really awesome. And I'd also come back but to try a different dessert, a different hot drink, and possibly some food.

Eh, this place is overrated, in my opinion.  It's got a certain bourgeois/yuppie appeal, but it's not really my cup of tea.  There's a certain pretense that this place exudes that turns me off.  Okay, I get it -- a coffee house that is supposed to be European.  I saw a review on Trip Advisor where the summary line was, "Good coffee, but pretentious, overpriced, and bad service..."   I think that is a decent representation of my own views.

People mostly come here for the desserts and coffee (rather than for a meal), and I've found the desserts to be hit or miss.  Many of them look better than they taste, and they're not always fresh.  That's not unexpected since the desserts are baked elsewhere and shipped in (frozen?).  Some are quite good, but it's really a crap shoot.  The service is usually pretty inattentive, too: it can take a long time to get your check.  Also, I'm not a fan of the cramped interior seating (some might call it cozy or "European", but it's too close for my tastes).

So, it may seem that 2.5 stars is a bit harsh, but Yelp doesn't give me much resolution to work with here (since three stars is A-OK, and I only give that to places I might actually go out of my own volition).  Part of my rating is very subjective: some people may find the cramped (marketing substitute word --"intimate") faux European atmosphere more attractive or conducive to a nice post-date dessert.   But for me, the atmosphere is more of a turn off and just generally over-hyped.  The service isn't good, $5 parking on the weekends, inconsistent, eh.

This place was one of the first restaurants I visited when I first started regularly going to Atlanta, and really got me excited about the Atlanta food scene.  Intermezzo is a nice little restaurant that's perfect for a late night hangout.  The folks who run Intermezzo have clearly made dessert and drinks their priority.

What do I mean by that?  Well, for starters, their drink menu is 20+ pages long, with a good chunk of that devoted to non-alcoholic drinks like coffee and hot chocolate.  On top of that, they have a very large dessert case with all kind of cakes, cheesecakes, and pies.  Meanwhile, their entree menu is relatively small and underwhelming.

The dinner entrees themselves are pretty average.  There's nothing very special here.  Brunch is better, wish stuff like the egg and croissant sandwich.  But the drinks and desserts are where this place really shines.  They have a number of really tasty hot chocolates, like a mexican hot chocolate and a white hot chocolate.  All come in mugs that are about twice as big as you're expecting and are very tasty.  But when it comes time for dessert, the meal gets the most exciting.

There's something really neat about looking at all of the desserts in the case.  None of them are labeled, which is annoying at first until you realize they have somebody standing there who has all of them memorized and you are supposed to ask them about different things that interest you.  It's really fun.  I always end up going with something that has chocolate and peanut butter or oreos in it, but they have lots of great fruit-based cakes and pies as well as the more traditional sugary stuff.  And every dessert I've tried there has been delicious.

Great place to go.  If I was able to find a dinner entree that I absolutely loved, I'd be happy to give them five stars.  As it is, its still the best place to go for a late night dessert and drinks.

Expensive=really good quality? Maybe. Pros: nice venue, good selection of desserts and drinks, great berry tiramisu, good (looking) waiters. Cons: lack of parking, okay quality of selection, expensive. I had fun when I went, but I don't know if I'd go back again.

When I do get in the mood to drink coffee, I'm usually also in the mood for some relaxed, European-styled surroundings, so I'm glad there are places like Intermezzo. It reminds me of a cafe I used to frequent years ago, during a study abroad trip in Italy. (My worldly travels, let me show you them.) The only thing it's lacking is a view of the Tuscan hillside, but I'll overlook that... for now! Last night I had the cafe cubano latte, which was not only delicious, but served with a cute little heart shape swirled into in the foam. It made me smile-- don't judge me, dammit!

The desserts never really win me over. Nothing ever looks too appetizing, but if you read my review of Marietta Diner, you'll understand my feelings on giant cakes in glass cases. I think the atmosphere at Intermezzo is more appealing than the food. It's not really someplace I would go specifically for dinner, but it excels as an after-dinner spot for coffee and late night conversation. The lighting is just dim enough to be relaxing, without putting people to sleep.

My only actual gripe is the pay parking. Whaaaat. I hate you, Buckhead. Fortunately there are places nearby to park and walk to avoid it.

Wait, I lied; another gripe is the lack of smoking on the patio. I know I'm in a minority here, but there is no denying that coffee and cigarettes just GO together!

Maybe I'm just a good old fashioned box cakemix girl, maybe I like to buy the refrigerated cookie packages and bake those as a treat, or maybe I'm the lame-o who likes Kraft's Mac & Cheese (old school powder mix) which makes my entire review IRRELEVANT... but...

I didn't think the desserts were all that.  I ordered a Amaretto cake and some ice-cream.  I really think the cake was not good.  I was so disappointed.  Slightly hard.  I didn't like the Amaretto flavoring (and I like amaretto).  The ice-cream scoops were tiny and "eh"...

I did like the ambiance.  Nice cozy spot.  Neat little place.  But I probably won't visit again.  I'm sorry.  I know this spot is like a highly recommended dessert place.  :(

I feel bad giving it a so-so review.  I may try it once more and try something else.  I don't give up that easy... lol.  I'll review again when I go again.

I'm a little torn because I've been to Intermezzo a few times and each one has been a vastly different experience. The first time, the waitstaff was really attentive and the food creative and tasty, the second time was an average run-of-the-mill experience, and the most recent would have garnered a two star rating on its own.

The dessert selection is fantastic, which is why it's so sad that our server was so uncaring-- we asked her for recommendations and instead of recommending anything, she stubbornly told us what was popular. The coffee was also a little meh-- we did the Nutella iced coffee and it was not quite as yummy as we'd hoped. The Nutella crepes, on the other hand, just about made up for the rest of the experience.

I'd definitely give them a chance again, I think the food is quality and it seems like the rest of the waitstaff was pretty upset to hear that our server was flat out ignoring us, so they're on the list to try again and hopefully elicit a better rating.

Somehow I've lived in the ATL for a year and just managed to come to Intermezzo yesterday for a coffee date. All in all, a good experience. But from the top...

First of all the parking situation was terrible. $5 for parking behind a strip mall, are you joking?? I can understand that on a busy Friday or Saturday night with Blufin right next door, but on a Sunday afternoon? I'd like my coffee with a little less price-gouging, please. So of course I parked at Wendy's, bought a 99c diet coke so I felt justified in parking there, and then walked over to Cafe Intermezzo praying that my car would not be towed.

The restaurant itself is really cute. We sat on the patio, which was wonderful! Very relaxed and intimate, good for talking as it wasn't too loud. Our coffee date turned out to be wine and cheese, which was fine by me! I had the house Merlot which was fine, and the cheese plate was definitely more than enough for two people. Service was friendly and prompt, our waitress came back often to check on us, and generally did her job well.

I would definitely come back soon to hang out on the patio some more. I want to try the desserts next time since I've heard so many good things about them!

This is a wonderful place for a date and it is the place for deserts in Atlanta.

The restaurant is cozy and has smaller rooms to give it more atmosphere. The back patio is also a great place to hang out most of the year. They are open on weekends to 3AM :)

The dinner menu is not big but there are a number of good things on there. However the real treat is the desert bar. They have just about anything you could imagine in terms of deserts. In general the food is very good quality.

The drinks menu is also extensive and of good quality.  It might take you some time to decide.

The only negative aspect of the place is service. It is of varying quality. You can get very good service and directly terrible service.

As much as I wanted to give Cafe Intermezzo 4 stars, I just can't. The service we got last night was terrible.

We arrived around 1am for the tail end of a bachelorette party. We were seated quickly on the patio as soon as most of our group arrived. The host was helpful and put together several tables so we could all sit together. Then our waitress came and things went downhill from there.

The bride to be asked her for a recommendation on dessert. Instead of saying what she liked, she simply listed the most popular items. Well that's great, but what did she like? I guess we'll never know. After she took our initial order and brought our food and drinks, she pretty much ignored our table. Several people tried to flag her down when we wanted our check to no avail. Finally one of the members of our party got up and told the host that we were being ignored. Only then did we see our check.

The food was great. I had an espresso with Nutella and split a Nutella and strawberry crepe. It was worth the higher price. The kitchen definitely had their act together. I just expected much better service from a place like this and I'm willing to give them another try when I'm in the neighborhood.

Generally better than the Perimeter location.  Service can be hit or miss, coffee is average, desserts are good.

A little too expensive for what it's worth (the desserts especially, $7-$9? Seriously?) and I haven't really sampled the food recently.

I don't mind sitting on the outside patio and the 3am weekend closing time is a plus.  Not a bad place when it's not crowded.

What I love most about Cafe Intermezzo is the atmosphere. It's dimly lit, and the tables are small so you are having a very intimate chat with whomever you're with.

I was there on a Friday evening and I was hesitant to order a full plate as I had other plans after dinner. So I ordered a hummus plate (delish), but was pleasantly surprised when one of the other people at the table ordered a pesto dish that was not a massive portion on a huge plate (as you may see at other restaurants). The portion size was just right so it wasn't like you were overeating or anything.

The drink menu is extensive to say the least! Soooo many choices. I had a strawberry champagne thingy that was pretty tasty. I did not order desert, but I was impressed by their selection and will definitely do that next time.

Oh, but parking is a PROBLEM. At least it was on a Friday evening. Your best bet is to pay the parking attendant, so be sure to have the $5 cash or so on hand to do that.

Can't wait to go back!

If you want to take a girl, on a girlie night, or if you are a girl with the girls, than this place should be in your after-dinner plans. They have a 50 page drink menu, a stellar outdoor patio, and deserts that even make meat-and-potatoes men melt. All-in-all it is a great place to pass the time, chat, and indulge in sinful desert eating.

Intermezzo does a great job of surrounding you in a European experience. You can come early and pick a great table, no reservations. Once you have a table, feel free to kick back and sit there as long as you like. If you can resist the deserts, you are a better man than I. Good luck.

Love Cafe Intermezzo! Fabulous desserts, wonderful hot chocolate, breakfast any time, charming atmosphere, great service. What more can I say?

Not too many choices for those with dietary restrictions (dairy, gluten, etc.) although the hummus and veggies is a pretty safe choice.

Also have wi-fi. Have had a few working meetings here, which worked out well. WAY better than a Starbucks!

Never again!!!  Never again . . .

Of course, this is what I said after visiting Intermezzo in Perimeter.  Should have followed my own advice.

My girls and I were cabbing our way to Eclipse and decided to stop by Intermezzo for a nice meal and pre-cocktails.  It was 11:30 pm on a Sunday night, Memorial weekend, busy busy.  We asked if they were still serving alcohol, YES!  They were, but we only had 30 minutes left to order.  After being seated, our waitress showed up, I have no idea what she said, and then she left.  25 minutes later, we're ready for our drinks.  She finally arrives but sadly informs us that the bar did last call already.....and our argument was that if she had not disappeared for 25 minutes, last call wouldn't have happened, or she could have told us she was going on a break and we would have gladly ordered drinks from the bar.

I'm annoyed just thinking about it.  So I will make this short.

The waitress takes our orders.  Our waters and sweet teas arrive (it's now 40 minutes later).  My salad arrives 20 minutes later.  I pick and poke at it realizing this is not what I had ordered.  My friends' meals arrive 10 minutes later, I alert the waitress that my order was incorrect.  She gives me an awkward look and stares at the food saying, "Are you sure?"  "YES!!  I am sure."  She grabs my plate and 2 minutes later (quickest service all night) returns with the correct salad and smiles.  The only thing I remember thinking was "I hope she didn't return my salad to it's proper owner because I chewed a few pieces.  And I hope he didn't chew on this salad either."  I turn to the waitress and kindly ask to cancel my order and to remove the salad from the table and the bill.  She asks if I would like to order something else.  I say no.  She says it again.  I say no, again.  10 minutes of staring at an empty glass of sweet tea, she returns to refill my friends drink.  But only after carrying the glass to 2 other tables and holding conversations directly over the glass, refilling it in the same glass, and then giving it to my friend.  Thanks.  We would love a side of your saliva tonight.  The manager was very apathetic as if she were siding with her waitress.  It's understandable that she's busy, but there is no excuse for rude behavior and unsanitary practices......while your bartenders are making out at the bar and 5 minutes later, arguing and crying.

Alright alright, I meant to keep this short.

Our waitress slams the bill down, hovers over us....just waiting.  I mean, really what the hell are you waiting on??  We're not going to dine and dash when we barely even dined and you barely even dashed.    My friends let her know we weren't ready with the bill (they're definately more outspoken than I am) and she storms off like a mad little 5 year old.  The entire ordeal took a little over an hour and a half.  Our bill was not more than $30.00.

A $5.00 tip when it should have been zero, but it could have been $20.00.

I love the idea of the place.  Food looks really good.   But they need to invest in a better training program for their staff.

I've also heard that they have a cockroach infestation from a former kitchen employee.  But that was a year and a half ago.

Ive been to Cafe Intermezzo twice now and both times were fairly average.

First off the service can take a while here which is kind of mind boggling since they just have to cut you a piece of an already made cake.

Parking was difficult on a weekend during the mid-afternoon so I can imagine it gets real bad during the evenings.

The dessert and coffee were ok but not worth the hefty price tag in my opinion.

All of those stars are for the atmosphere and concept of this place. Good for a date or an afternoon of work, Cafe Intermezzo fits the bill pretty often. Unfortunately they just don't seem to be able to pull it all off all of the time.

On my last visit our waitress was a ditz, to say the least. She didn't have a handle on the menu and just seemed to be pretty slow on the pick up. I had a croque monsieur that was alright, but pretty much every other one I've had elsewhere was better. The worst part of the day was when I ordered chai and received a french press full of chai-colored water. Seriously. Zero flavor, not even all that hot. I couldn't muster more than one sip.

Cafe Intermezzo has free wifi and the food outside of the desserts is tolerable, but I'd really only come here if someone else wanted to.

I really like Cafe Intermezzo. It's true what they say...good place for a date because of the lighting, menu items for sharing with an emphasis on the desserts. The service is friendly but not overly so and the crowd is diverse.

Highly recommend the scallop and sausage skewers. Great coffees, great Chai....in a nutshell, universal good bet.

The date place that held its own over the last seemingly decade or so. Mind you, I've never been on a date here... but after adding up desserts, drinks, coffee, and tables so tiny that you MUST bump knees with your fellow diner (oh, and not to mention the dim lighting), well, any way you dice it, it screams date.

What it does not scream is 'daytime,' - which is where I had my most recent experience.

A few thoughts and a small study in contradiction:

- they had free wi-fi!! but only 2 outlets for computers.
- they had a awesome drink selection!! but the server was a bit perplexed with what a pelligrino was.
- the service is very laid back, and you don't mind camping out there for 2 or four hours or so! but that can kinda suck if you need to order something.
- they have sandwiches!! but no chips.

As for the food, I had a feta and portobello crepe, which was actually pretty tasty, alongside some very strong black coffee. And the huge pelligrino, of course.

my ex boyfriend and i would come to either this location or the other location without fail whenever i was in atlanta. this place is the perfect date spot, the perfect lunch spot, the perfect tea spot, the perfect anything spot. the ambiance of intermezzo is AMAZING. very low key. people dreaming into the person at their tables eyes. my favorite thing here is the mexican hot chocolate. i would move to atlanta just to drink this. the desserts are perfect ive tried so many that i cant name them all but the fact that ur able to go look at the dessert you want, eye it out and then eat it is priceless... this is a hidden atlanta gem

Not the best place to take a group of people since they ARE NOT very good at splitting multiple checks. But it is perfect for an intimate, romantic night out with your SO or close friends. The desserts are probably the best in Atlanta, hands down. I don't think anyone would argue with me about that. The prices are a little on the steep side. It's definitely a place you'll want to splurge at. The drinks menu is extensive and it always takes me forever to order mine because I like trying new things. Prices here are a bit more reasonable for a drink, at least the ones I've had.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE try the curry mushroom appetizer. I've forgotten what it's really called but if you come across it on the menu, give it try! The fruit and cheese platter is served bigger than I expected and I liked that about that dish. I have yet to try more main dishes, as I mostly come to Intermezzo late and specifically for their dessert, but I wouldn't rule it out. I love the sound of their crepes!

I had a conversation about Intermezzo the other night with a girlfriend. We agree that it's completely hackneyed to go on a first date here, or any date for that matter--just because it's pretty much glorified as one of the most romantic establishments in the city. I prefer to pal it up at Intermezzo instead.

I'm sure the 100 other Intermezzo reviews on Yelp praise the extensive libation and dessert selections. I appreciate the variety of fine liqueurs, such as Chambord, one of my faves. I most recently sipped a Kir Royale (Chambord and champagne) in the dimly lit front area, savoring the raspberry flavor.

I find the food so-so. I appreciate the ability to eat breakfast all day.

And what's up with the ladies' restroom? Over the speaker, there's always an educational foreign language tape playing.

"Hola. Me llamo Maria."
"Hello. My name is Maria."

A waitress once told me the purpose is to enhance Intermezzo's international appeal, but I'd rather hear some La Chicane...

FOOD: Went for brunch on Sunday and ordered:
1. Nutella crepe - yum! Bananas and generous filling of nutella topped with powdered sugar and walnuts. I could eat this all day! Good thing I don't know how to make crepes..... but I hear they are easy to make....
2. Intermezzo omelet - probably made from 3-4 eggs judging by the size. Swiss cheese and veggies (mushroom, spinach, tomato). Needed salt but otherwise good, but something that I could have anywhere.....including in my kitchen.
3. Rosemary poatoes - came with the omelet (also choice of toast). Waaaay too oily and average in flavor. Bleh.
SERVICE: A bit slow but no complaints.
CONCLUSION: I like Intermezzo's food, mostly the sweets. Meal food seems to be just ok. Knowing my sweet tooth I'll be back :)

I love it. Is the only place i have found where i can drink the absinthe :)

Coffee is good, and the other drinks based on coffee are good as well. The place is quiet and nice, the service usually is good. It's my little european bar, it looks like bars in Italy.

I have breakfast (actually, in the other one in danwoody) at cafe intermezzo every saturday (or either sunday) morning. Cappuccino italiano and Croissant.

Cafe Intermezzo.......hhmmm.... So I've driven past here on several trips to the Buckhead area.  The intimate lighting through the windows always caught my attention.  So, a girlfriend called and wanted a late dinner.  She suggested Intermezzos.

Now this review is 6 years late, so I don't remember much.  And the fact that I'm writing it 6 years later and can't remeber anything, let's you know that I have not returned, right? Right! I'll keep it short and sweet. Had the Quiche.....become extremely ill.....never returned.

Intermezzo has been a long time favorite of mine.  Even before it became the hip trendy place to go.  There aren't many cafe's that can set the scene for a date like Intermezzo.  it is best when it is warm out and they open the french doors along Peachtree St..  You can always check out the back patio.  Patrons can enjoy many things on the menu.  I think the quility lies in their drink menu and their dessert menu!

If you haven't been, you gotta go!

My favorites are the moon pie, mexican hot chocolate, and any of those wonderful drinks from the bar!

Food update up in here.  I ate there last night.  Taking into account the price/quality ratio, I would have to say this falls in the sucks ass category.  I had the avocado/almond salad with scallops on top.  It was fine, but pretty small, but they ingredients were ok.  Main gripe is the pygmy scallops they put on the salad.  Where the hell do you find scallops that small.  Somebody answer me.  Isn't it illegal to poach baby scallops?  I thought I read there was a law passed or something.

Date's food looked aight.  Nothing too great.

Had a chocolate cake thingy.  Not bad again, better than my dinner probably.  That's not high praise.

Taking into account everything, food would have to get 3-3.5 stars from me.  If it wasn't so damn expensive, I would probably rank it a little higher.  But really the main problem is I f'ed myself with the scale, because 3 stars is edible, anything below means the place should burn to the ground basically.  So really I have a very narrow window to work with.  Now you know.  But anyway, this place is still fine to stop by late hours and grab a bite.  But be prepared to pay.

Anywyay quit reading this crap and go eat something.  That's what I'm gonna do.

Lunch time!

My friend took me to this adorable cafe while I visited Atlanta and it totally hit the spot.  It was a Saturday afternoon and the weather was dreary outside. We wanted a place to have some coffee and dessert- and this place fit the bill perfectly.

There is only one thing I can think of that can make coffee and dessert more fun.... SPIKED coffee and dessert!   I had this very yummy cafe mocha with a shot of amaretto in it- delish.   Then my friend and I shared some desserts- my favorite was the fruit tart dish, but the oreo cookie cheesecake was also tasty, but a bit heavy.   The portions of the desserts are pretty large, so bring an appetite.   I really enjoyed the atmosphere- it reminded me of a cafe in Europe where you can pass a leisurely few hours chatting with friends and noshing on some really tasty snacks.   It's also not too loud, so you can have an actual conversation with friends.  So, all in all, a very charming cafe with a great atmosphere and a very large selection of desserts and creative coffee dishes- highly recommended!
