Wow, this is an amazing spot. Swing the door open and feel the great vibe. Friendly and mellow atmosphere, delicious, inexpensive coffee. Went here on a whim and will be back. These people are going beyond a cafe- operating at a higher level.

This little joint makes a better cappuccino than the green and white place ever imagined. Nice selection of breakfast pastry and great sandwiches made with quality ingredients. Really glad I work near by.

The best cafe joint in my city. Great food, delicious tea/coffee & fantastic customer service. So proud to have such a neat cafe in LHTS.

What can I say the heights is my city and the Cafe is my stop for coffee; Breakfast sandwiches and a healthy snack! The employees are fast, efficient and cool at what they do. I love the location, outdoor seating and Free Wi-Fi plus when I'm biking it they provide a bike rack for convenience and the ambiance is mellow and eccentric at the same time.
Prices are decent and food is simple but exceptional in the taste! I've been to many coffee spots but this one makes you feel at home and at ease. If you ain't afraid of the hood, and are ready for whats good check out the Cafe in The Heights!
Variety is the spice of life and they got it! -

I lalala- LOVE this place. Has a nice atmosphere, excellent friendly staff, and is really a hidden gem. It's one of a kind in Lincoln Heights. How much better can it get than a cup of freshly ground and brewed coffee? It's a nice, aromatic, naturally sweet blend.
And their Tuna sandwiches are a MUST! Best tuna i've ever had! Tender browned turkey is delicious too! Makes my mouth water just thinking about it! The prices are just right and trust me you get more than what you pay for! These people don't go light on the servings. I say you skip the $5 footlong and head straight here for a sandwhich& add a bag of some Dirty Chips! As for hot teas i'd recommend White Orchard or if your in the mood for a cold iced tea ask them to make you a peach iced tea. It is delicious after a long hot day. Long story short; I've never been dissapointed with the food or service! This place is a must try (: -

Nice lil cafe clean fair priced offers great goods. I had the tuna on wheat and a blackberry iced tea also took home some jalapeno and cheese bagels which i'm proud to report were the best I've ever tasted baked on sight upstair. all the other foods and drinks they had to offer were very appealing too. I have to agree with the other review Cafe in the Heights is a hidden gem. I'm glad I stumbled across it. they offer wi-fi have a great atmosphere display local art, have a good vibe and a pleasant young staff (thoses are hard to come by now adays) all and all great experience I would go back and yes I told my friends and family now I'm telling you. go check it out !!! :)

There is a sharp contrast between the lincoln heights neighborhood outside and this quaint and very cute cafe. Great hot cocoa. Tasty sandwiches. Superb service from VERY nice cashier. Probably the only one of its kind in this area. Reasonable prices for such a nice looking place.
The first time I walked in I was in shock -- what the hell is this cute cafe doing across from the yellow eyesore of Lincoln High School? Am I in another city? This does NOT look like Mexican food?!?! WTH.
Don't come here expecting a burrito or tacos, amigos. But do come here for something delightfully outta place in lincoln heights. Wish I came here more when I went to LHS.
I'll be back for hot cocoa. :) -

This place is a refreshing little cafe....in the Heights.
I heard about this amazing Pumpkin drink they had (from here on Yelp!) back in December so I rushed over the next morning. A very young boy (12ish?) let us in since they were just opening (maybe the owners son?) he was extremely polite and pleasant and so was the older girl behind the counter. I ordered the two drinks that were on the Specials menu but was sad to hear that they no longer had the two drink - I was a day late - they ran out of the seasonal ingredients the day before.
I was pretty bummed, but I still ordered a basic espresso drink. It came out well, with just a tad too much bite, probably from the beans they were using. I'll be back for a few more drinks and see how the barista handles the machine. -

Just had a late meeting with a couple of colleagues at Cafe in the Heights, and I was impressed with three things:
1. GOOD pumpkin chai tea! You can tell it's real pumpkin. Yum.
2. HUGE meeting room in back, through the door to the bathrooms (which open off the meeting room). Thanks for letting us move there for our meeting even though it was just the three of us. Seemed ideal for movie nights, art shows, open mic, maybe a cozy musician venue (I was going to say "band" but a drum kit plus guitar, bass, keyboards, singer... that would take up a fifth of the room right there).
3. GRACIOUS staff let us stay well past closing time. I won't say how long because I don't want to obligate them to do it for everyone, but I really appreciate it. Plus, their credit card machine was down when we arrived so they served us our drinks without hesitation, without pay, and said they would come back & charge us later (which they did when machine was back in service). And they did all this BEFORE we had tipped them a dime. So I made sure to slip some cash into the tip jar on our way out. The guy who took our orders earlier noticed me do it, and actually said "Wow, thanks, really it was no big deal". Since when does a barista act like you tipped him too much, or your tip was beyond the call of duty? Well... since I stumbled upon this delightful little coffeehouse gem.
If all their drinks are as good as that chai, and all their service as good as those two guys we met, then this is a genuinely amazing coffee house. I am looking for an excuse to return, this time with more time to spend in the front of the place, and more money to spend sampling their other wares. -

4 Stars = "Yay! I'm a fan."
Like a neighbor's newborn child I've watched Cafe in the Heights take its baby steps slowly the past few months. When their sign was posted announcing to the world who they intend to be, I thought what silly people would venture in a coffee shop here? Though hundreds of cars pass by their storefront each day I reckon most of them still view Lincoln Heights as a slum and will never stop for anything more than a cheap gas fill-up at the Shell. But there are those of us who live in this slum and I for one am ecstatic about having a local coffee spot to call my own.
Now that CITH is ready to serve the community I'm unashamedly filled with a sense of pride - the kind where you tell people you went to school with the best wedding photographer in LA even though it has nothing to do with you, yea that embarrassing kind. I was even excited to get one of those "First to review" ribbons from Yelp but was inexplicabily beaten to the punch.
I paid them a maiden visit on Friday thinking they've already opened but was told their grand opening was the next day. They served me anyway and chatted for a bit. The prices were fair and the latte was good. The owners are fellow Lincoln HS alums so you know the venture is not entirely business, there is a sense of giving back.
If there is one drawback it'd be the parking. They do not have a lot, DO NOT PARK IN ADJACENT RODEO GRILL (formerly Taco Bravo) LOT. I parked in there for 5 minutes and they were quick to stick a note on my window, with 5 strips of tape no less. I get the point, one strip is enough. Aren't we going green guys? Geez!!!
Good thing I had my tasty latte to wash out that sourness. -

Working in the neighborhood can be a little difficult when it comes to food options. Most of the time you are stuck between Mexican food or fast food. I was very excited when I saw this place was going to open up. Fortunately, this place did not disappoint.
Though the coffee is not my favorite, the chai lattes are amazing. Right now, they have pumpkin chai lattes made with real pumpkin which are superb.
The sandwiches are a good option also. They are very generous with the meat and are well priced.
They have free wi-fi and comfy chairs and tables to lounge in. -

Cafe in the Heights is good for a quick caffeine stop in the neighborhood. I want them to really thrive because there isn't much in the way of coffee on North Broadway. In fact, I think they pretty much have the market all to themselves as far as coffee goes. I think it's a family run store because there was a 14yo kid working behind the counter when I was there. He rocked it though. Walked me though the menu, offered suggestions, and make my drink pretty quickly. There was free wifi. They need to improve the music and overall and the place seemed a little dark. I feel like they do almost no advertising at all. They are located near Montecito Heights and I know there are a ton of people who are crazy for good coffee up there on the hill; they need to do some marketing and let people know they're open and ready to brew just down the hill. Overall, I wish them much luck and success.

This super chill cafe was the perfect place to stop by for some quick r&r while on a group bike ride last saturday night. I locked my bike outside and went in looking for the a simple drink to quench my thirst. The mango italian soda did the trick. My friend got a chocolate chip scone, which was really yummy - like a big, cakey cookie. The owner was really cool and let us (i.e. anyone in a group of about 30+ cyclists) use the restroom in the back, which, to my pleasant surprise, was a casual group meeting-ish space with art on the walls. The cafe had just had their grand opening earlier that afternoon, so the workers gave away left over dulce de leches to anyone who wanted one. Great service, and looks like a great neighborhood space to stop by for a latte and a couple hours of quiet reading on a rainy afternoon. I'd drop by again if i'm in the area.

OK, so I was looking for a local coffee shop near the hospital. I parked outside on the street and was skeptical about the joint since the area is GHETTO. This place is especially cute inside, however (a redeeming quality since the shop can't be blamed for it's surrounding environment). The internet was not working... otherwise I would have given it 4 stars. I had a mocha; quality was alright, neither the best nor the worst I've had.The music was soothing, and not too loud. I'll come back here if I'm near the area and have nothing to do, if anything, for the chill ambiance.

For me, this place is great. The sandwiches are good and reasonably priced. Great drinks (coffee, tea, juices) and desserts. It's usually pretty quiet and the wifi works well -- I come here regularly to work on my laptop. If it's loud, they don't mind if you work in the back meeting room. That young kid who works here is also awesome -- so polite. I'm glad Lincoln Heights has this place! Very lowkey which is perfect for what I need.

Now I know this is a new spot and am completely happy that there is a cafe in Lincoln Heights. That being said there are some ups and downs to this cafe. The drinks are good and the prices are really good, the pastries are tasty (albeit from Costco) but inconsistent. Sometimes they have a large choice other times its really slim pickings and whats there might be on the stale side. The staff although very nice is made up of some employees who have really good customer skills and can multitask to others who seem to be really struggling with customer interactions and handling more than one item at a time. Again the staff are all nice and I really wish them well but I think they could use uniform training on all of the tasks, coffee making, and customer handling so they are all wonderful and present a consistent experience for the customer. The look of the place is very modern, music is good and I will continue to support this establishment but they are in need of some improvement. you might have a really good experience or, like some reviewed, you might get a drink you cant drink or someone who wont smile or greet you and mumble. Still the pros outweigh the cons for this place for now.

I really wanted to like this place, as I live nearby and we don't really have a local coffee shop. Stopped in today to get a nonfat latte and it was undrinkable. I took two sips and threw it away. Never done that before. The service was really confused too. I would forgive that because they are still new, but I can't forgive the horrible latte.
