Provincetown, MA
Without ANY question THE BEST PLACE FOR BREAKFAST. The food is WONDERFUL. I'd eat there every day if I could afford it (both in terms of wallet and my waistline). Specifically I love their eggs benedict creations as well as their omelets. I've never been there for dinner, but it goes from very trendy to very romantic at night.

This used to be the best place in town but I think they have a new chef who is not up to par any more. It used to be a five, but I had some very vinegary eggs benny on Monday...not very tasty. However, it is a standard for breakfast nonetheless. New hopes for this year!

If you want to experience the negative attitude of an old bitchy male waiter, angry at the world and intent on driving away customers, then go eat here.
Otherwise walk out, like I did.
Note to the owner of Cafe Heaven: one of your workers needs a VERY long vacation. -

I asked Yelp where to do breakfast in Provincetown, and it told me to go to Café Heaven. It was right!
It's a tiny place, so good luck getting a table right away. It took us about 10 minutes. But once you do get in, you'll find that food-wise, the place is definitely aptly named. The selection is good enough that someone who doesn't generally do eggs like myself still has no trouble finding a good breakfast. I got banana cornmeal pancakes, sweet Portuguese bread with strawberry butter, and linguicia. Everything was great, and the pancakes were actually better than I had expected.
I think the best part about Café Heaven, though, is it's one of the few places I've been since we arrived here that actually doesn't ream you on the price. Everything was reasonable! Not something you see too often here.
If the question is "breakfast in Provincetown," the answer is "Café Heaven." -
Review from Susan R.
Adorable place.
You will typically have to wait to sit... but it is totally worth it- might be the second best brunch in Ptown (after Victor's drag brunch).
The homemade jam as well as the fresh OJ are off-the-charts good. Food is also typically very well prepared. A really fabulous Bellini.
I am not gonna lie though... I have yet to have adequate service here and when I am sleepy and hungover and starving... you have GOT to be more friendly. Sorry, but I had to deduct a star for that... it's key at brunch.Listed in: So... you're in Provincetown.

Adorable & charming setting, good service & great food. Lots of seats packed into this little gem.
Loved that "half portions" were available. -
Review from Joe A.

I have eaten at Cafe Heaven for breakfast and dinner. The cafe is a typical Ptown bistro. Breakfast and brunch seem more popular. Dinner features primarily salads and pasta. There is a create your own pasta option where you can choose from penne, linguine, or angel hair pasta and a choice of three sauces; marinara, alfredo, or garlic aioli. Then choose mix ins like sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms, capers etc. My garlic aioli was a bit bland despite the presence of a lot of whole garlic cloves.
They also have a very good list of wines by the glass.
Breakfast and brunch are very good. Lots of choices and well prepared breakfast items. The service is good and efficient with pleasant servers. -
Review from Quinn E.
I've been coming to this place for years, only for breakfast. And it's definitely lost its luster. Some of the food is still pretty good (the menu hasn't changed much and the specials are typically a rotating door of 3 things- cinnamon roll french toast, banana pancakes and some omelet), with the standouts being the french toast options. Even though the menu is largely the same, the food just isn't as special as it once was. Maybe I'm sick of the same old thing, but I'm a regular at lots of restaurants, can order the same thing over and over, and if it's really good, I will not get sick of it. Here, I'm bored.
With that said, the homemade English Muffin is a thing of beauty. It is outstanding, huge, and perfect with some jam. The coffee is also fantastic. Rich, dark and smooth. Same as I like my men.
Check the bill though. I was overcharged for my 2-egg basic breakfast. It was supposed to be something like $7.75 and showed on the bill as $9, which is exorbitant even for a tourist town. Regardless of whether it's too expensive, they need to at least charge the same prices that are listed on the menu.
Like virtually everyone has said, service is lacking. I think they have 1.5 waiters for the whole place or something. I've never had my water/coffee refilled at a reasonble rate.Listed in: Breaks from Boston

Review from Chris C.
This place, unfortunately only open May - Sept or so, is great.
It's run as two seperate resturants -- one for brunch and lunch, and by seperate people for dinner.
Both have pluses, the only minus being that everythihng isn't available all day.
Brunch is your standard brunch fare, done well, and reasonably priced (esp. for P'Town.)
But I think the place really shines after 5pm as a small, charming, casual dinner place, and i can't rave enough about the burgers, which are juicy and delicious. They are available in premade combinations such as "Greek" (feta, black olive tapenade), etc. (Of you can put together your own version.) Anyway you have them, they are seriously some of the best burgers anywwhere. No question the best in P'Town.
(And in a fishing village, that i'm telling you to have a gourmet hambuger, that's saying something.) -
Review from Shannon M.

I had an AMAZING lunch here and a really really good breakfast.
For lunch I had the Cubano...which is my new favorite sandwich! Black forrest ham, pulled pork, pickles, mustard and deliciousness. Ordered a cup of their lemon chicken asparagus soup and really enjoyed that. It tasted like a fancy chicken noodle soup.
For breakfast I ordered an omelette. I was really happy to see such a nice selection of cheese, meats, and vegetables to choose from, and the side of home fries were good. The orange juice tasted fresh squeezed, and while I wasn't a fan of the blueberry pancakes, my boyfriend loved them. They are made with a wheat flour which is fine, but I prefer plain, fluffy, buttermilk pancakes. Aka bisquick pancakes.
The service was friendly and quick, but we were also there during the off season and it wasn't busy. It is small, so I can easily see it getting super crazy during the summer when there are hoards of impatient people waiting in line to eat. -

Cranbury, NJ
Cafe Heaven is not worth the hype. First they told us 5 minute wait, only to leave us outside for 40 mins, and forget about us altogether until I politely reminded them. They said they had accidentally crossed us off the list, but weren't apologetic.
On to the food: I had the eggs benedict over crab cakes and some bacon. I tried a bite of my girlfriend's french toast. It was all okay. The hollandaise sauce on the benedict was certainly not the usual, it was lighter than most and somewhat mustardy (had visible mustard seeds). The eggs were fine; nothing to write home about. The hashbrowns were garlicky and tasted like any hashbrowns anywhere (like Friendly's on I-95). The crab cakes were mostly bread, not much crab. Regarding the french toast; it was eggy and not seasoned at all (would a pinch of cinnamon been too much to ask?). I could make better at home.
Atmosphere: Cramped. We were wedged in between a couple of hung over beach boys on one side and a French Canadian couple (carrying all their beach supplies, including backpacks, beach umbrella and CHAIRS) on the other. Even with out the beach supplies, the place is very tight. The waiters had to hover behind us to take our orders. In fact, I never did get a good look at the waiter, but he must've been hot because the beach boys kept flirting with him. The murals on the wall are bland and sad -- think "The Scream" without the guy screaming in the middle of it.
Price: Who are all these people writing in to say how affordable this place is?? We paid $50 for breakfast (including tip)...BREAKFAST.
We went in with high hopes given the reviews we read on Yelp. We left disappointed. Save your money and head to Chach on Shank Painter Rd. (across from the Stop & Shop); the wait staff can be prickly but the food is MUCH better, especially the french toast. -

Small and out of the way while still on the main road. I'd never had french toast made with a croissant before and it was lovely! Our waiter was polite and the place was very clean. The art/signs in there were quite pretty/funny as well.

Cafe Heaven came highly recommended. Sadly it just didn't meet our very humble standards. I asked for an egg and bacon sandwich and was told that it was too complicated for the chef to prepare, but if I insisted it would cost me $4 more than the egg and bacon breakfast. Disappointing and miserable,

Packed in, cheek by jowl. Good, quick service. Breakfast was good -- appreciated the salad vs home fries option. And yes, the homemade english muffins are a standout. The cornmeal pancakes are very sweet, but that's what you'd expect. Not a place to linger.

This place was so amazing that once we tried it we couldn't wait to go back the next morning!
The service was wonderful (super friendly and efficient), the coffee was good, and the food was really good. My personal favorite was the "make your own omelet" - the spinach-avocado-brie omelet was perfect. Though some of the other people in our group thought the Eggs Benedict were outstanding.
I'm definitely going back next time I'm in Ptown! -

Cafe Heaven you made my day.
and saved that trip to p-town from being a culinary flop.
walking down the street looking on the right, and the boy on the left, trying to choose a restaurant, the boy says "cafe heaven?"
I was like "omg, cafe "heaven?" of course not", as I turned to look at him. Across there was this white facade with huge windows, flowers on the tables in the windows, and a light airy room. and said what about this? the boys laughs (or does he smirk?) and says let's go
I had the special scrambled eggs with spinach caramelized onions and cheese. it was (mind the cheesy pun) heavenly. and don't let me start on the home fries that came with it: crunchy on the outside but cooked through and perfectly seasoned with herbs. I never thought I would crave having breakfast/brunch out until this meal.
the boy had a roast beef sandwich with dijon spinach and gruyere (i think) and it was perfectly toasted, loaded with beef..
coffee was quite good and the waiters quite attentive at refiling.
this brings me to the only beef I had with the place: the attitude. if the guys working there were a bit friendlier (it was the end of the shift etc.. but still!, this would have been a five star.
we were there off season later april) so the place was not completely packed but still enough people to feel like a buzzing but calm place. -

Astoria, Queens, NY
This quaint little pasta shack totally refueled my carb level after a day of sauntering about P-Town in the sun, shopping, drinking and basically wearing ourselves out!
The draw to this place? Build your own pasta! Choose a pasta type, a sauce and then as MANY INGREDIENTS AS YOU WANT. There is no limit! Go nuts! Just read your choices slowly or the waiter might snap at you.
One kitschy highlight: the chef popped out of the kitchen at one point with a slice of cake and announced loudly to the 32-seat establishment that it was Christian's birthday (another patron whom we did not know) and the restaurant broke out into applause and then a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday. Quirky. But fun.Listed in: Day Trips to Provincetown

The first time I went here I was very literally in heaven.
Cornmeal and banana pancakes and freshly squeezed juices of all sorts and sizes, and pancakes.
And good coffee.
Did I mention the pancakes?
They were so good, they even made the raging migraine worth it. (Migraine solely caused by my own health problems that will not apply to anyone else's meals.)
The second time, I was with difficult self-professed foodies who disregarded everyone else's advice to pick instead the most boring, questionable food on the menu so they could insult it to bits. Which they proceeded to do at great length. Some might even say entirely unnecessary length. But not I.
When they were through with that they managed to ruin my eggs florentine for me by stealing some of the sauce and then insulting it.
True, it wasn't de rigeur Hollandaise. But it was trying to be inventive, or something, and it was passable - although nothing could have lived up to the memory of the pancakes from the time before. (Which I was in the mood to gracefully accept until the eggs had been forcibly purloined and then publicly humiliated. Besides, I just hate it when other people talk smack about MY food in the waiter's hearing... but that's another subject for another time.)
Anyway, my advice is to stick with the pancakes and happy co-diners.
I have also heard the sausages are quite tasty.
Mmmmm, pancakes! -
Review from Dawn E.
Let's start with service. I wasn't around for the whole "wait in the rain" issue so I won't judge on it since I personally didn't hear tone or understand intent. I do understand that a small place might, indeed, fill up quickly (and this place did not long after we were seated) and I've also been the victim of a large party seated with only a few people and then those few people don't even order drinks but just waited around for an hour and I lost an entire round of income - so I see that side of it too.
I didn't find the menu that expansive, and I also went with the Build Your Own Pasta dish. Our food came out fast and all at the same time, which was perfect for a group that wanted to get in gelato and a few more shops before their boat embarked home. Upon first bite, I found the pasta to be lackluster but as the flavors settled together it got more and more delicious, but, then, I hand chose all of the ingredients so who gets the credit here, me or them? The penne was perfectly cooked, I ought to add.
I found the server to be sarcastic and charming at the same time, but I do agree that they should have no issue with multiple credit cards. I never understand why some servers make such a huge deal out of this when, have been one myself, I find it's truly not a big deal at all.
Overall, I enjoyed my meal, my water stayed full, and my company, although damp, was sublime.
P.S. The cocktail glasses stink.Listed in: YEL-P-Town!!!

Ahh....for those of you that know me...I practically go gonzo for a really great Eggs Benedict. This place was awesome!!
The service was excellent, friendly, quick with the Java and menu's.
The best part was the Eggs Benny perfectly poached, perfectly delish and coffee with half and half to start my day.
Once properly fueled I was off to shop till I dropped!! -

I have to say, I was NOT impressed with Café Heaven. Five people from a party of ten arrive at the restaurant. The restaurant was empty, save for one table. A thunderstorm had just rolled in, and it was raining outside. Not only does the waiter refuse to seat anyone until the entire party arrives, but he insists they wait OUTSIDE in the rain (no patio or eaves under which they can seek shelter). Why? Because the restaurant "might fill up." I would have walked away right then and there. But I didn't, because I was the one everyone was waiting for.
However, I'm not just complaining about the severe-weather treatment; I wasn't impressed with anything inside either. The menu was small and rather uncreative - the most popular dish was a 'make your own pasta,' and the waiter complained under his breath (translation: in my ear) when people ordered too many items. The bar menu was terrible - one bottom shelf brand of wine and liquor for each category (think: Jose tequila and Cavit wine). The food itself was okay, but nothing I couldn't make in 15 minutes at home. And when the bill came, the waiter refused to take more than 4 credit cards (as one former waiter at the table put it - 'bullshit, if he can take one he can take ten').
The one positive I noticed was that most of the 'add ons' for the 'make your own pasta' did not cost extra; you could add one or a dozen items, and it still cost $13.95 (except meat - meatballs, chicken, fish & sausage was extra). -

The best thing about Cafe Heaven is that it has lasted at least 3 years in P'town!
The breakfast is one of the BEST I've had anywhere. HOMEMADE GRANOLA will knock your sox off- have it with yummy vanilla yogurt. The rest of the breakfast menu is divine as well.
At lunch/dinner, they have a build your own pasta thing, and needless to say, the pasta is the BOMB!
I eat here daily, sometimes twice a day when in Provincetown. LOVE IT! -

This place would have gotten a solid 4 star rating had it not been for the "bitchy queen" (as one of my fellow diners dubbed him) that was serving us. We had a party of 10 (7 of whom are fellow yelpers) and 5 of us went into the restaurant and told them that there were 5 others coming in and they were 4 blocks away. We were told to go back outside and wait IN THE POURING RAIN for the others to get there, even though there was only one other table of 4 in the entire restaurant. We were told that the restaurant was going to fill up in a few minutes. after 5 minutes the others arrived and we were seated. The server remained curt with us during the remainder of the meal, but I am over him so let's move on and leave him in his bitter little world.
The food was really good we all pretty much ordered pasta. and everyone liked what they ordered. I got the angel hair with a garlic aioli which was fresh and light tasting without being overbearing. This restaurant did hit on two personal pet peeves of mine, serving wine in little itty bitty wine glasses filled to the top and 3 tined forks (wine should not be served in a little juice glass and the fork thing is just a personal things that works my last nerve, and yes I know it is odd...).
All in all, I would go back and give it a try, the food was tasty and a good value. I would just peek in and see if that server is working. If I see him, I will continue walking down Commercial Street...Listed in: Prancing Through Provincetown

I don't ever write reviews on yelp, but a review for this restaurant is necessary. 99% of New York City restaurants give better service than this one (I've lived in New York for over a year now).
After telling us the wait time was 30 minutes, we ended up having to wait almost an hour to get seated - even after seeing multiple tables opening up and being given to other people in line. After we got sat down, it took forever to get served, and the waiter and hostess had anger issues. The waiter ended up yelling (literally!) at another another table of four (his face was 1cm away from one of the guys' faces!) to get out of the restaurant because they were apparently being rude and loud.
After that happened, the restaurant went silent. Either way, it scared the hell out of me and the service got even worse after that. I almost started complaining about the service but I feared that if I had, he might've exploded even more obnoxiously on me and my friends. In any case, I'm never going to this restaurant again in my life.
Not even the food was worth the money - it was decent, but nothing special for a somewhat expensive meal. -

Dining at Cafe Heaven is a vacation in itself!
Over-the-top amazing food, impeccable service, and, delightful atmosphere with huge windows, white tables, fresh flowers, big paintings by a local Wellfleet artist, and clouds painted on the ceiling! It feels breezy inside!
And, the experience is beautiful for brunch (fluffy banana pancakes and amazing omelettes!), and really romantic for dinner. It does get noisy for lunch (people talk louder, it seems in the middle of the day; have you ever noticed that? ;) ).
If you like garlic, as I do, I highly recommend the Mediterranean shrimp with feta, Kalamata olives, roasted garlic, and tomatoes in a garlic aioli. It's perfectly combined, and not a bit oily. The arugula salad is amazing, and the seared sea scallops were perfectly done!
I do not, however, recommend the mussels salad, which comes chilled; the mussels are hard. The desserts were simple (chocolate cake, apple pie, etc. We chose, instead to go to the Purple Feather -- a great choice).
But, all in all, Cafe Heaven is every bit of heaven -- and quite a vacation in itself -- with wonderful food, attentive, kind service, in an open, breezy, beautiful setting.Listed in: Provincetown

Other than the surly queen we had encountered, I did like the build your own pasta. Although, there isn't much of a choice other than the build your own, there were only a few other options on the menu as well as their specials chalk boards.
The biggest + was that you can add as much as you want to your pasta without an extra charge and that was a big + in my book.
The place was a bit small, but it added to its charm. -

Café Heaven is one of the best breakfast experiences that I've had in Provincetown. I like the small dinning room and the cozy vibe. The food is very good and my coffee cup was never empty.
If all my experiences are like my first, I'm going to be a regular at Café Heaven.

Great but busy breakfast place in the heart of Provincetown.
loved it. had the manchego, tomato and ham scramble. came with the most delicious homefries. this girl needs ketchup with her homefries and was all set to pout when our waiter didn't bring any (and was too busy to return fast enough) but once I ate one I was like wtf, who needs ketchup?? coffee was a little weak but refills were frequent. tables are cramped together so you're almost sitting on people. i normally hate that but we had a nice lady from long island sitting next to us by herself and she started chatting with us and for once i wasn't annoyed. Would definitely have breakfast here again. -

The food is good, but probably not worth a long wait. The posted hours appear to be arbitrary. The sign says "OPEN 8-2". We went at 1:10 and were told "Sorry, we're closed." Always seems strange to me when businesses don't do as they advertise and turn away business.

We had delicious omlettes and English Muffins that are not only homemade but unbelievably good. The eggs benedict are served on that very same homemade English Muffin with your choice of meat - including baked ham and smoked salmon. There is a sign that says "Maximum Seating 22 People." This is a cosy place and there is a direct view of the kitchen. Lovely and attentive wait service. We usually find ourselves asking for lots of refills for the water and we didn't have to ask once. Great place if you want a late brunch - served until 3pm.

Cafe Heaven an slightly upscale diner in a teeny little storefront. It's perfect for breakfast, good for lunch, and very, very reasonably priced. I have not tried dinner but I'm guessing that's a good bet too, if that's the sort of thing you want for dinner.
The breakfast is so good that I found myself debating between breakfast food and lunch food at lunch time, and coming down on the side a of another breakfast. Corn and banana pancakes - really delicious! -

In P-town with g to the ays over Labor Day and went here for breakies on a lovely Saturday morning.
It's a tiny place -- but packs a lot of punch with charm and a great street view of passers-by.
I had a yummy egg breakfast -- they lace them with crack or something like that. And had a cup of coffee served out of a soup bowl. It was an interesting way to drink coffee and i LOVED it.
If you are in the area, stop by for a lil nibble and people-watching. -

I love this place- went for lunch then breakfast. Got the roast beef horseradish on a baguette. It was delicious. After I took a few bites our waiter came with another roast beef sandwich and told me he had made a mistake and gave me the wrong roast beef sandwiches .informed me that he had the correct sandwich look on my face depicted fear!!! I am loyal to a fault; I wasn't sure I wanted to let go of the original. Then again; what if it was better???? I negotiated and has 1/2 of each. Outstanding in both cases.
Breakfast also great, Croissant French toast to die for yet wish was a bit more. Turned around and saw a choc late cake that looked equally great. My fiend's omelet avocado and Gorgonzola cheese reportedly tasty. My head was down concentrating on the FT. Coffee was good but I am suggesting adding some flavored on the list. Great Job!!! -

Always dependably delicious. Coffee isn't stellar, but the food is.
Eggs benedict is great, and made in various ways (I love it with salmon). Greek yogurt and their granola also fantastic, and a nice dish to split with friends if you are hungry for something more substantial.
Highly recommended if you are headed out for breakfast in town. -

it was wet and soggy outside so waitress put up with me being a cold ass and gave me hot water and made their fantastic mojito-lemonade drink without ice.
The artichoke dip was one of the best. didn't look like a creamy spinachy mess I have seen before overloaded with parm. The dip was a solid flaked pieces that easily could have been put on pasta with it's mild taste. You could actually taste the artichoke.
The build your own past was fantastic for $13.95. Be wise on your choices..The sun dried tomatoes (the anchovy of the vegetable world) gave everything a chicken bullion taste, which was my fault. it still was a dream I and very few would like. Feta,Gorgonzola, Kalamata olives, basil & sun dried
