Luiza is awesome!
Their Smoked Salmon Bagel (with: creamed cheese, tomatoes, spinach, and capers) was pretty darn good! It satisfied my approximately 2-week long craving. They weren't stingy on the smoked salmon portion either which was awesome!
I enjoyed the Sugar & Butter Crepe as well. It was simple yet deeply satisfying. Although Pistachio Gelato is my absolute favorite, their's had an aftertaste that was reminiscent of Pecan Praline ice cream that I didn't enjoy.Listed in: Places you MUST try!

Review from Brian C.
Daly City, CA
Was recommended this place by K's sister, she went here for desert crepes and when K was craving them also, we went over here. Located in Bayhill Shopping Center, I didn't realize this place was right next to one of my newly discovered go to places for burgers, Big Mouth Burger. Parking is plentiful here and Cafe Grillades has outdoor seating for nice days like the day I visited.
Inside, the place is small but quaint. It seemed like everyone knew each other because the hostess was talking to someone who was leaving and also went over to a couple of different tables to talk to the customers personally. A nice touch that not many restaurants can boast to know their clientele so well.
We were seated, not something i'm used to while eating desert crepes at asian places but a nice change. First thing I noticed was that it was rather pricey. $7.95 for the cheapest desert crepe, adding another 2.95 for gelato. I'm used to desert crepes around $5.00 at genki's with the ice cream already included. We decided to try the banana creme brulee crepe which arrived about 10 min after ordered. The taste was of a traditional, thicker crepe with a pancake like consistency. Inside, were bananas, yogurt and a sugar brulee type on the top. Served on the side was creme fraiche. The yogurt added a weird element to the mixture, I thought the crepe was ok besides for the yogurt. Overall, the crepe was thick and the ratio of filling to crepe wasn't what I was used to.
Maybe personal taste or not, Cafe Grillades wasn't what I expected for desert crepes and even trying to make the best of it, wasn't someplace I would try again because of the price and the quality of product.
On a side note, Cafe Grillades participates in a program that if you pay with your American Express, they will give you $5 off after you spend $5. -

This review is LONG over due.
Don't listen to anything or read any other reviews about this place. Just pay close attention and I promise you'll leave feeling fulfilled like you never felt before...
YOU MUST ORDER THIS:
1) Hamburger / w Beef Bacon + Chedder, Medium Well (still juicy no blood).
After you've eaten that YOU must have:
2) Banana Creme Brulle Crepe and make sure to add Nutela, and a side of Dark Chocolate Gelato. There isn't a better Crepe in the West. I haven't been to France, so not sure about Europe... but damn it's good. I mean serious. No really. I'm not playing. Try it.
If you honestly try this - and it's not the best thing that you've eaten for a month. Message me and I will remove this review.
Just be sure to hit the GYM to put good use of all that protein and carbs. -

Decent chicken pesto crepes, also had the caesar salad which was cool. My biggest problem with this place was it took about 40 minutes to get my order with only about 3 other groups dining.

Review from Leana L.
My coworkers raved about this place, so when they decided to go again, I didn't hesitate to go with them!
I ordered the savory chicken pesto buckwheat crepe. It came out within about 10 minutes It was a pretty good serving when it came out, but while the crepe itself was large, the filling didn't fill it in its entirety. Nonetheless, it was quite tasty and I finished up the pesto-coated chicken and potatoes.
I was stuffed, but my coworkers ordered a few of the dessert crepes and I tried a bite of each. I have to say, my favorite was the Mango Crepe Brule.
From start to finish (ie getting the check squared away), it probably took us almost 2 hours. Service was pretty slow and we got a little restless at times. However, I think those dessert crepes helped redeem this place. Everything else is just okay. -

Surprising and delightful. From the outside, you might think that Grillades is only a breakfast/crepe place, but they offer quite a variety on the menu, with a slight Mediterranean influence. Clean interior, excellent service, high quality food, well-prepared.
The burger place in the same plaza may just have lost half of my business. -

I dropped by this place for to go. It was easy to order, friendly staff and good size crepes. I got one order of banana & creme, and another mango crepe. It was very yummy! Location was easy to freeways, and late open hours.

Service is spectacular. The servers are nice and bubbly, and the food is really good. I got a burger, it was delicious and cooked perfectly. My boyfriend got the french onion soup...which I was not a fan of, but he really enjoyed.
Five star cards work here! :) -

Do not get the buckwheat flour crepes!
Get a savory crepe with normal flour and you will not be dissapointed. I've had most on the menu, and the ingredients balance together perfectly, and the crepes are just the right texture and flavor.
The buckwheat crepes are burnt, hard, crunchy, disgusting things, that if I made in my kitchen, I would throw out instantly. -

I drove from the east bay to come here and it was well worth it. Their food is super good and the owner was more than nice. great service!

"Meditereinien" Crepe in the Organic Buckwheat was very good. It's vegetarian but full of flavor. Don't see on the menu online, but had, artichoke hearts, tomato, feta, kalamata olives - Simple but delicious. Obvious they live up to their promise of using quality ingredients.
I went during off hours; plenty of room, very friendly/hospitable people. Very tastefully decorated.
Was able to plug in and take advantage of free wifi. Need to go back when I have time and room for dessert. -

Heavenly crepe! If my friend did not recommend this place, I'd never have thought there's a little piece of heaven awaits in this tiny down to earth cafe.
I tried the couscous dishes. They were alright. However, the dessert crepes and the gelato were sooooooo delightful! I had the banana brulee crepe with chocolate gelato. The crepe itself was soft and contained a slight sweetness. Inside the crepe is full of goodness... The gelato was so rich, almost chewy... A swirl of nutella sauce can only make things better. I'd just come back for desserts again and again :) -

Yelp came through again.
They only had three breakfast crepes. I had the San Franciscan with egg, potato and beef bacon which came with a side of salad. It was delicious with the right amount of sauce on the crepe and salad. But since I have a sweet tooth, I was hoping for any type of sweet syrup.
My wife had the Roma sandwich which she enjoyed. I tried some and the bread was excellent. When we come back to San Bruno, we'll definitely keep this place in mind. -

Used to really like this place because it's one of the few places in SB that offers crepes. But my recent visit turned out to be my last.
Total fail on their ham and cheese panini and strawberry nutella crepe. Everything about these dishes was just wayyy off.
Plus, I ended up spending close to 30 bucks and I was still hungry! -

When i am in need of something sweet.. this is where I go! Have been going here for years!
The best is their Banana Creme Brulle Crepe. Can't go wrong with that one. I'm not usually a crepe person but because of that one item.. its hard to resist! -

I've been to Cafe Grillades over 20 times, my husband over 50 (last 5-6 years). Hands down we come back over and over again because of the food and service.
Sometimes I don't get Yelpers, I read some really negative reviews before going in last time and dreaded it, had the staff changed, slow service, mediocre food, cockroaches? What?
And I was worried for nothing, service was amazing as always and whom I think is the owner's wife (no uniform) was pleasant, on a super busy lunch day service came back to check on us. They are always refilling water. The owner himself has often served us and is incredibly attentive, remembering us (the other staff do as well).
I've brought family, friends, picky ones and they love the place. Last time I brought a friend, was with her husband and small child. They are so particular that if one thing is wrong they will send it back no matter what.
Well, this time was no different. My friend thought she ordered a crepe, but had ordered a panini (because only they come with the choice of salad or fries). When it came she sent it back, no fuss from the server. The server was completely understanding even though it was my friend who made the error and the food came back within a reasonable amount of time.
My suggestions:
Algiers Merguez, chicken pesto (panini or crepe), any of the strip steak ones. Both the buckwheat and flour crepes are wonderful (the fact that there is even a choice is pretty amazing). I love the flavored mayonnaise that comes with the fries. Also dessert whether it be gelato or a sweet crepe is nice. The one I had most recently and loved was the mango brulee. -

I've been there twice. The 2nd and last time we were there we had a really bad experience with service. We were seated and I had to flag down a waiter to take our order after waiting about ten minutes. The place was full, but they had a full compliment of staff. Two other tables had similar issues with service during our short stay. The waitress didn't come back after she delivered our food. I had to ask the owner for the check, who was texting and not paying attention to her clientele.
Hello! Do you know what customer service is?!
The chicken pesto crepe was a little soggy for my taste. The taste was good, but they skimped on the chicken.
I really hope the owner reads this and learns from it, as I believe in 2nd chances. Good Luck.... I may or may not be back in 3 months. -

YOU HAVE TO COME HERE!! This is what I'm talking about. If you want CREPES, this is where you REALLY get the Crepes of all crepes for breakfast, lunch, dinner AND dessert, also servings of paninis, sandwiches, salads, also may I add that they have vegetarian options! So that made it more of a plus. AND this is why they won #1 Best of the Bay List for Best Crepes. Go on their website first to see what you want, prob order for pick up since it does get super busy on the weekends. That's all I gotta say...
BTW, came on a Sunday morning for brunch. This place is little so seating is limited. At least there's a few outdoor seats.
Everything's fresh. Made to order.
Glad they became better with customer service, because those students (sorry) were not cuttin it - were all over the place & confused.
SIDE NOTE: PLEASE TRY the garlic aioli - WOW! -

I love Crepes!
My friends and I were craving for sweets especially crepes! After a quick stop from CVS, my friend and I stopped at Cafe Grillades for some sweets and I ordered the crepe with Nutella and strawberries (I forgot what its called). We took it to go since we were running on our own schedules. When I got home I took a small bite of the crepe and boy did I feel like ordering more of those crepes! It was so freaking good that I honestly regret splitting my crepe with my friend. =( haha But it was definitely worth trying out their crepes!
Its located in a convenient plaza with a starbucks, CVS, etc. and parking isn't hard either. -

Five stars is a lot but I loved this place and can't dock them for anything so have to go with a five. Cute decor, excellent service and delicious food. I had the ratatouille crepe and my bf had la mexicaine. Both crepes were REALLY good. And the harissa on the side added the nicest spice. We also started out sharing a delicious spinach salad with housemade vinaigrette. I can't wait to go back here. And I love the photo of the owner and the President.
I'm surprised about the comments re service. Both of the servers (one was the owner) who attended to us were excellent. They timed our salad and entrees perfectly.
Buckwheat vs. flour crepe- pick the one that would best go with the filling. We both had the buckwheat crepe, which is so delicious, but the flour crepes looked really good coming out of the kitchen. -

Cafe Grillades is like everything you would expect from an Italian restaurant. You got your crepes, you got your gelato, you got your ratatouille, you got your salads, burgers, and sandwiches. It's a pretty fascinating place to eat at. I love their crepes because they always know how to create perfect ones with fresh and sweet berries, a touch of brown sugar, and NUTELLA! Crepes from this cafe is a must-have. This restaurant is fantastic for breakfast as well, since they serve great breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, and egg servings. But what really caught my attention are their sandwiches; All the best meat/fish/veggies that you can put into a sandwich. Go here for a great breakfast, lunch, and dinner next time you are around in SF or San Bruno

Cafe Grillades helped me stage an intervention for my friend with L.A. roots; she wanted to take me to all the chain restaurants in San Bruno. blah!
First the shopping center caters to residents -- not tourists or mallrats.
Second there are PLENTY of choices on the menu -- familiar savory or sweet / dessert crepes, Mediterranean and North African fare, and gelati.
I had the Algiers Merguez crepe b/c the couscous entree seemed too overwhelming. Yay for HOMEMADE spicy lamb & beef sausage, which was lean but slightly dry. Guess I'm a juicy braten art von mädchen! Tender potatoes, carmelized onions and melted jack with crema fresca really sealed the deal. BTW two thumbs up on the option of a flour-based crepe or buckwheat! The latter is more gritty and less fluffy, but I like it.
We ended with the banana crepe brulee -- so tempting to pair it with creme brulee gelato! Good thing we split this because the sliced bananas, brown sugar, caramelized topping on the fluffy flour crepe was so sweet... food coma if you don't order an espresso or coffee! :)
Finally, this restaurant is inviting like the attentive service we receive. I could see myself as a regular ... so I could get through that menu! There's a nook for semi-private parties or a simple family style meal. LOVE it! -

With all honesty, this place is the reason I created a yelp account. Cafe Grillades deserves to be recognized for their amazing food/menu. My fiancee ordered the Garlic & Beef pizza crepe... It was huge and it tasted soooo good with the sautéed fresh spinach and tomatoes. I had the Tex Mex Cheese Steak panini. The thin sliced steak was incredibly tasty and tender. Unfortunately, we were on our vacation and can't go back yet as much as I want to :( The service was okay, but it was understandable since there was only one server and quite a bit of people. Overall, I was very impressed with the food and I highly recommend!!!

My newest love interest. From my first visit, I decided I was going to have to return several times because there were just way too many yummy-sounding crepes and I only have one stomach.
I love that you can sub your flour-based crepe for buckwheat, which doesn't taste all that great but has fewer carbs. I've tried the smoked salmon crepe with creme fraiche which was simple but delicious - I could savor both the creme fraiche and the smoky taste of the salmon without either overwhelming the other. I've also had the New York, which is kind of like a cheesesteak in crepe form. Even their basic home potatoes surprised me.
But to me, the stars of the menus are the dessert crepes. OMG. The Banana Crepe Brulee - with its freshly sliced bananas, brwn sugar, creme fraiche and caramelized top - is TO DIE. My second fave is Pomme Canelle which has sauteed apples, brown sugar, almonds and raisins.
The place is intimate and cozy and service is attentive. I really love this place for brunch, but bring a friend so you can share because you'll have a hard time deciding on just one thing :) -

Move over Crepevine...Cafe Grillades has got you beat on the savory crepes. Yup, this place is my favorite place to get savory crepes in the Bay. I had a breakfast crepe on a visit to SoCal last year and was looking for a place similar. Checked out the menu here, checked it out one day and come here whenever I crave for it.
New York Crepe- My FAVE! Grilled steak, swiss cheese, onions, mushrooms and tomatoes. They dont skimp on the steak. And even though it is cut small it is not dried out.
San Franciscan- Egg, bacon and potatoes with cream fraiche. Good, but I had it after work one day and it was a bit more breakfast-y. Don't get me wrong because I looove breakfast food...I should have saved this for another day.
Tex Mex Cheese Steak- Very good. Though I dont like spicy too much I think the avacado lightened it up for me which was nice.
Crepes come with a salad. However, I prefer my crepes with potatoes. Most times they'll let me substitute the salad for potatoes (depending on the server)...the potatoes are served with a homemade garlic aioli (sooooooooo good). Once I couldnt substitute my salad for potatoes so I had to order a side...the portion is bigger when you order it that way (and I knew I couldnt finish it), but the garlic aioli is so good I HAD to get it.
The paninis are a decent size. I've never had one myself, but the bf gets them sometimes and he's pretty satisfied with them. The sizes are decent
One of these days I will have a dessert crepe. Hard to believe that I havent yet, but I'm usually stuffed after my meal that there's no room. -
Review from Kathy V.
Crepes for dessert? Yes I'm in! Used my Yelp Ap to navigate me to the nearest crepe place. A nice shiny 4 stars... that made you say
D E L I C I O S O.
Cute cafe which served gelato, grilled paninis, salads, burgers, sammiches, breakfast items, north african couscous and of course ding ding ding CREPES!
Can I get an order of Banana Crepe Brule with NUTELLA PLEASE??! and an order of a Strawberry Crepe too. Each crepe contains brown sugar, fresh fruits and creme fraiche with a carmalized top. My first bite was freaking A M A Z I N G!! the crepes had me at hello, lol My only regret was not getting gelato ontop to make it a- la- mode. I discovered Cafe Grillades lives up to its name for being 2010 numero #1 Best of the Baylist of Crepes. -

A hidden gem that leaves me feeling satisfied every time. When someone new in town comes to my house...this is a local must go to for lunch or dinner. Savory Crepes are my favorite, but the gelato finish is a struggle to not start with. I love the fact the chef is at the front of the cafe..so all the wonderful cooking aroma fills the air.

Between 3 and 4 stars. I'll round up because their coffee is actually really good :)
I think this one of the better places to eat in the area. They seem to be a crepe place but I've actually never got around to ordering a crepe. I thought their eggs benedict weren't bad and I actually like their sandwiches. They have meditteranian food too if you're not in the mood for American fare.
I come by when I feel like brunch but not going far. -

muy delicioso!
damn forreal i aint even gonna front - the dessert crepe i had, i think it was the mango crepe was one of the best things i've ever put in my mouth. but before i get to that
this is a tiny restaurant in the middle of a strip mall in san bruno. i would've never found this place had it not been for my cousins telling me about this place and how good the crepes were. in fact, i see darrell and cherry check in to this place at least once a week! and since verna was here from the ATL, we decided to go out for lunch and i finally got to try this place out.
they have an EXTENSIVE list of savory crepes, sweet/dessert crepes, paninis, burgers, and other foodz. i went straight for a new york crepe which was steak, onions, and cheese on buckwheat (the other choice being a flour crepe) and oh man this was definitely a meal by itself. what i really liked is they didnt skimp on the ingredients.
i had to get a sweet crepe too, couldn't resist. and i split with a younger cousin. i really wish i had it all to myself. i had the mango crepe with a side of vanilla gelato. from the first bite to the last it was "all good". i could think of a million things to say about how good this crepe was but even then it could not fully describe my intense love for this melt-in-your-mouth with crispy caramalized topping goodness.
can't wait to come here again!

What the sandwiches I have gotten here lack in deliciousness, the crepes more than make up for. I had to get new tires on my car the other day, so my dad was chauffeuring me around. It was gloomy out, so we decided to get some crepes while we waited. I had a strawberry/banana/nutella and he had a banana brule (sp?) crepe. EXCELLENT!!!!

The hot Nutella drink sounded and tasted good. $3.50. Need to try the crepes and kebobs next time.

You wouldn't expect a cute inviting place to be in the middle of a shopping center, but this place is & I am so glad my friends introduced me to it.
I've been twice now and it is for sure a favorite of mine.
The Paninis & Crepes are outstanding. I am a fan of anything with Pesto, so of course I got the chicken pesto grilled panini. I also tried the chicken des alpes, both very good. I always plan to eat 1/2 but end up eating the whole thing!
Banana Nutella crepe is a favorite as it is for many that have given reviews.
The staff is friendly, I haven't noticed if it was slow because I am usually too busy catching up.
This place is a hidden gem and a must try if you are in the area.
Extra star for the Hot Nutella (heaven in a cup - think hot chocolate w/ nutella) & for being halal so all my halal eating friends can get their grub on!Listed in: Halal spots

You know that feeling when someone takes your breathe away and sweeps you off your feet?
I do, but it wasn't "someone" that captivated me. It was a 6x6 rectangular piece of heaven otherwise known as the Banana Crepe Brule from Café Grillades that made me swoon. *googly eyes*
On Friday, 6.10.11, after having an unsatisfying meal at Sushi Raw and having about 2 hours to kill before our movie night, my friend and I came to Café Grillades for dessert. We arrived at around 8:15 PM and it was packed. We had to wait about 5 minutes for a table.
Café Grillades' menu is extensive with Breakfast Items Served All Day, Salads, Paninis, Grilled Meat and Kebab Platters and North African Platters. All meats are free-range, organic, and halal.
With the overwhelming amount of Yelp reviews about Café Grillades' Crepes, I ordered the Banana Crepe Brule w/ Vanilla Gelato ($7.75 + $2.75 for Gelato). As other reviews have mentioned, service is slow. It took nearly 30 minutes to get our crepe but it was well worth the wait. However, I would have been perturbed about the wait if we didn't have so much time to spare.
BANANA CREPE BRULE w/ Vanilla Gelato- TOTAL AMBROSIA!
http://www.yelp.com/bi...
If Banana Fosters and Crème Brulee had a love child, the Banana Crepe Brulee would be their little bundle of joy. The warm crepe was soft and fluffy and the caramelization of the sugar burnt crust created a sweet crispness throughout the crepe. Inside the crèpe were perfectly ripen banana slices cooked with butter and brown sugar. The bananas were soft, tender with a buttery sweetness to them. The addition of the rich, creamy vanilla gelato was gustatory; exciting my taste buds with that warm and cold temperature contrast. The richly sweet dessert was lightened with the dollops of the tangy cream friache. Each bite was like an explosion of various tastes and textures; sweet, buttery, creamy, tangy, soft and crispy.
The Banana Crepe Brule was truly one of the BEST things I've ever ate. No words and pictures can describe how heavenly it tastes so you'll have to try this Pièce de Résistance for yourself.Listed in: FOODGASMS - It's like SEX in…

I really love the food at this place, however,I don't recommend dining in. The service is so horrible that we only order take out. Good luck to anyone who dares eat there....I know that almost all resturants have roaches, but when they're running across the walls next to your table it can be a little distracting...Yuck! -

Had lunch here today. Nice place with good service. It gets pretty full around lunch time. I had a crepe and decided that I should be adventurous and have the Mexicana crepe. It was ok. Not bad, but nothing amazing. I did enjoy the avocado, but the cheese was nothing special and the whole thing was mostly nutella. Good atmosphere though as well as nice and prompt service. I'd go back.

Have been coming here for years--even before hey changed the name 5 or so years ago. The food here is good, but the crepes are outstanding--I love sweet crepes and the strawberry brûlée crepe is amazing, it's a crepe with a caramel iced sugar crust that is pure decadence. The service is hit or miss and sometimes terrible slow, but the only place I know of for this crepe so sometimes I just call ahead or sit impatiently for my crepe. :)

Well, hurry up and wait, because service here is confused and slow. Don't bring more than 4 people.
The food is pretty delicious, though due to bad service sometimes the food comes out cold.

Cute little decor.
I got the 'Strawberry Crepe Brulee' with a scoop of creme brulee gelato. The total was like $11
O_O
Anywho, as for taste.. It was pretty good, though. Good thing I split the crepe or else it would've been too rich after awhile. The gelato was also a nice compliment to the crepe.
Would've put 4 stars, but the price cut it down to 3 stars.
Ciao.
