Breakfast here is addictive, especially the scrambles and scones. The servers are always 100% on. It is generally heavy diner food but very well executed.

OK so Port Angeles isn't exactly ritzy, so the level of sketch perceived from the outside wasn't far from the ordinary in this town. Still, I was wary.
So glad we went for it though, because it was really cute inside and super yum! I had the Cafe' Waffle with strawberries, blackberries and toasted almonds. They will top it with ice cream or whipped cream...or both. I wasn't brave enough to venture to the land of ice cream for breakfast so I stuck with the whipped cream. Awesome. The coffee could have a little more kick, but it wasn't a deal breaker.
A great day starter before exploring Olympic National Park. -

Very good food, nice atmosphere. Quiet and pleasant at the end of the day.
The hostess was wonderful. The waitress was not very interested in being polite, but maybe she was just having a bad day. -

"Seems like they should have a pie case" was the comment from my lunch partner - which speaks to the decor: an interesting mix, seems half trying to be 'fancy', but half old lady folksy.
Plenty of options for lunch. The hamburger I had was like the size of my head. It was pretty good. Tasted some of lunch buddy's crab cake and that too was good and also practically the size of the plate.
Service was decent, a little slow to get ordered but food came out fairly fast thereafter. Plus, waitress was there and ready to refill my iced tea before I ran out, which is always a positive for me (and sadly all too rare). -

We stopped here on our way to Hurricane Ridge and it hit the spot. The server was so friendly and pleasant. The biscuit was flaky and delicious and the eggs were cooked perfectly.
My friend ordered Al's plate which was a burly plate of a hash brown hash. Veggies, hash browns, cheese. It was wonderful. -

holla n daise
holla then daze
hollaindaise sauce
whatever you get, remember to ask for a side of their hollandaise sauce because really, that is what makes their meal go from "blerg" to "jigga wah?!!"
i usually don't like hollaindaise sauce because most restaurants make it too yolky and creamy, this place made it perfect.
it was generously spread around the crab egg benedict (which was cooked perfectly) and the hashbrown.
so why three stars?
well... i though it was sad that the sauce is what was needed to make the dish tasty. will i go here again? yes.
but only if i get to holla then daze -

Port Angeles, WA
The best restaurant for breakfasts & lunches. The Saratoga eggs are to die for, but definitely high calorie. Also, they will modify any menu item to your taste. They had a salmon/pasta dish with a sauce that I did not like, so prepared it with the lightest of butter/wine sauces that I have ever had. Having recently moved to PA, I eat breakfast here regularly and have noted that many of the same people are there most mornings. The staff is quite friendly, and the service good.

A lot of items on the menu. a lot of fake plants. I think it is an older house that was converted into a restaurant. The food is ok, kind of divey dinerish. There arent many options in this town.

Review from Emma L.
We came into town for breakfast after camping in Olympic National Park, and stopped at Cafe Garden as it was the first place we saw that looked like they'd have breakfast food and we were starving. It turned out to be a reasonable choice. My boyfriend got a breakfast combo with french toast, eggs and sausage, while I got the Saratoga Eggs (3 eggs scrambled with cream cheese and green onions). I gave my boyfriend the biscuit I got with my meal. The french toast looked like small slices, but they seemed to be good. My eggs were fantastic -- so much cream cheese! Coffee was fine and plentiful.
Decent meal, but nothing exciting! If I come back I'll have to add some crab meat to my eggs. -

The first thing to note is the titular garden. I'm generally not in tune with nature, but sitting at a booth looking out over it did give me a sense of peace watching the insects interact - although this would certainly not be the case for the arachnophobic.
Cafe Garden is an unassuming little refuge that in some ways looks more like an antique store in an Amish village than a restaurant in a small "city" and had the feel of a colonial inn. To reinforce the idea of the clientele and mentality, they had absolutely nothing to do with the tackiness of "Twilight Fest" that we inadvertently ended up driving through on our way to Hurricane Ridge and consciously avoided on our way out.
Add to the serenity pleasant staff, a prime rib sandwich special ($13) on a crisp, textured roll that was not just filler or convenience calories and a side of cajun chowder that reminded me of the East coast and I'll likely be back when weather warrants next.
To put it another way, I almost never eat breakfast and I'd strongly consider trying it here if i was ever around and hungry at the right time, and I was sorry I didn't have room for dessert. Seattle and its extended environs do not really treat comfort "American" food as a non-chain focus, but Cafe Garden is keeping the tradition alive. -

We were looking for some food on Sunday after running a half marathon, and after driving around for around town for a bit, we very nearly went to Safeway for lunch. Then we passed by Cafe Garden with its parking lot full and knew that to be a good sign.
On Sundays, they only serve their breakfast menu, which included steak and eggs, pancakes, many different types of omelettes, including crab omelette. I got the Florentine Pancetta, which was so good I am going to make it now at home. Out came sauteed spinach, onions, panchetta, and mushrooms topped with 2 poached eggs with Hollandaise sauce. The gooey yolk of the poached eggs oozed onto the spinach mixture, complementing it nicely. It came with toast and a very generous portion of fresh fruit. Because I was so tired and hungry, I also ordered an extra side of hash browns, which were browned perfectly.
Their coffee was a bit watered down, but I did see on that they serve espresso and lattes.
The service was excellent and friendly, and this was the perfect place to load up after a race, or to grab brunch on any day. -

We had dinner here one night, and breakfast a few days later. Both meals were outstanding and service was cheerful, prompt and sincere.
All menu items consisted of sustainably harvested ingredients and our selections were prepared with skill and creativity. The atmosphere was warm and relaxing, a welcome relief from the somewhat gritty neighborhood. -

YUM! We showed up at this place at 11:45. My guy wanted breakfast and I wanted lunch (they changed at 12:00). The waitress was wonderful and took our breakfast and lunch order. We shared the breakfast order and right as we finished, our lunch order was brough out to share as well. Perfect timing!
The Eggs Saratoga with crab for breakfast was amazing! It came with really tasty hash browns as well.
For lunch we had the crab cake which came with deliciously flavored linguini.
Both plates were finished with a mimosa (they brought out the orange juice and mini bottle of champagne separately so I was able to mix my own and it made about 3 glasses!)
Definitely would come back here! -

OH MY GOD. CRABCAKES. SAMMICHES. PASTA.
and the corn chower was fucking amazing.
the crabcakes had a lot of crab, spiced very nicely.
and the service was top notch. i stopped myself many times from trying to wink at the attractive waitstaff.
too bad we didn't make it out of the wilderness in time for breakfast. i heard it's killer. -

We haven't eaten dinner here in over 4 years. It's now under new ownership so we decided to give it a try. We were very pleased. The service was friendly, prompt and 2 servers offered advice (for soup and desert) that turned out to be excellent.
The appetizer cheese biscuit was mouthwatering good.
I had the Chicken Ginger Linguine special and polish sausage with cabbage soup (one of the recommendations). -

Me, my sister, and my mom showed up to this restaurant after a day of disgusting meal after disgusting meal in Forks. We were hungry and looking for something relatively fresh and healthy. We weren't dissapointed with Garden Cafe. The decor is a little old lady-ish, but the service was great and the food was a welcome change from what we had been eating. The pasta salad was a little over-dressed, but the sandwiches we all ordered were filled with fresh veggies and delicious meat. The bread was yummy, too. All in all a good experience.

Driving through the blue-collar streets of logging-centric, tourist-trap Port Angeles, you would not expect to find any restaurants aspiring to culinary excellence. You'd probably expect most menus to consist of items like "burger" and "burrito" and "BLT." You would also be wrong. Among the many food establishments, there are several that offer well-prepared, delicious and reasonably priced selections and among these, Cafe Garden is my favorite place to go for a solid American breakfast or lunch.
The place is somewhat nondescript, due in part to its garden surroundings which partially obscure the front of the building. The garden wraps around to block views of not-so-lovely US Highway 101 which bisects the town. Thus it was somewhat of a surprise to find this restaurant, but a very pleasant one.
Cafe Garden serves breakfast and lunch (Sundays are breakfast only all-day). The variety and quantity of items on the considerable menu is amazing and the restaurant is able to produce high-quality food consistently. Here you will find the best blueberry pancakes around, light and fluffy and jam-packed with succulent fruit. I also love their Eggs Saratoga, a scrambled/omelet with optional ingredients such as fresh local Dungeness Crab. Though it's not on the menu, if you ask nicely they may make the Saratoga for you with delectable smoked salmon (my personal preference). Virtually all breakfasts include crispy hash browns and a plethora of baked good choices from hearty blackberry muffins to scones and croissants.
Lunch time brings more delights with an extensive list of fresh salads, sandwiches and pasta. They recently also added a series of Harris Ranch beef burgers, any one of which should satisfy the hungriest of appetites. The Friday-only seafood chowder in a sourdough bread bowl is the best in town. This New England-style concoction is thick, rich and loaded with the bounty from local waters and is not to be missed.
For those who are still hungry, Cafe Garden also features some awesome desserts. The seven-layer chocolate cake is a diet-buster but will leave you with a big smile on your face. Their rendition of the triple berry cobbler, a standard at many restaurants in town, is also quite good.
Service is small-town friendly and attentive. You'll feel like you have a new friend before you leave the restaurant. Food comes out of the kitchen lickety-split so you won't typically have to wait for food, although service times increase when the restaurant is packed or has a large group in the private dining area in the rear.
Overall, this restaurant is a great find in town. If the restaurant is busy and you don't want to stand in line, other good options include Chestnut Cottage or the Plunkin Shack down by the waterfront. However, I'd encourage you to wait for a seat--this place is well worth the wait. -

A bright jewel in an otherwise dank city. We discovered Cafe Garden by accident and we are so happy we did. Port Angeles does not have many nice, clean, "sophisticated" places to eat but Cafe Garden is just beautifully charming. It seems like it would be much more at home in the Napa Valley than Port Angeles.
The decor is very pleasing somewhere between French or Italian or possibly upscale California. It was clear that every little thing was planned out and the superior effort in design is very evident. Just gorgeous!
I also really liked the front garden which even in winter was very beautiful and welcoming. Had a feel of the gardens I am used to back home in the UK,
The food was superb. I had a Ruben and salad lunch plate. My partner had the daily special a garlic chicken linguine which was really yummy. I also want to mention the salad was by far the freshest salad I've ever had up in this area of Washington. With out a doubt it was the freshest food Ive had in the Port Angeleles, Forks, Aberdeen corridor.
The host and waiter were also very attentive and helpful, though I would like to have seem them smile a little more. They both seemed a little tense but like I said were very attentive.
Just one warning. This place is designed for the more sophisticated "wine" crowd especially women. Its sort of a little hide away for us gals to get a little refinement. If you are a big burly biker or lumberjack reading this, it is probably not the place for you! -

We tried their breakfast a few months back and were delighted at the selection. The berry waffles with ice cream and whip cream were superb and their bacon was not over-done or too greasy. So great!! We recently had lunch there the other day and, again, were impressed with their offerings. Great food, great service, and great locale with a picturesque garden views from all angles. Highly recommend!

I wondered in for lunch yesterday with my only requirement being that I refuse to have fast food anymore.
Amazing food! Beautiful decor and awesome service. I will definitely be going back. -

I love the entryway and garden atmosphere. The food is ok but nothing spectacular, although I did enjoy their Gyro sandwich more than anything else I've eaten there. The service is always good though and the people are very friendly and for that reason I continue to eat there. I think I prefer their lunches over their breakfast items.

Went to Cafe Garden for dinner. The food was very good and portions were generous. We had New York strips. The were prepared very well and tasted wonderfully. Everything was all that one could expect except the service and that was beyond superb. Our waitress was very attentive and made sure we were well cared for from the time we walked in until we left. She was great and made the dining experience exceptional.

Lovely garden and ravine. They have nice staff. My in laws been going there two decades. Me? I an vegan and look for veggies with Als special, hold the eggs and cheese, receive mostly potatoes, few tomatoes and three mushrooms. Paid the full price. I was going to just have the oatmeal with soy milk, and they dont carry soy, instead offered warm water. They are nice and if you eat meat probably have no problem.

I was given the impression of local and organic. Just to clarify, it is not. They do have some local eggs and milk. That is about it for the breakfast we had. The food was ok. It did not stand out. We had breakfast with a wide variety of dishes. They were unable to offer a natural maple syrup. They only had carmel colored artificial flavored high fructose corn syrup - syrup. The garden view was lovely, but I was looking for a healthy meal.

We stopped here for dinner one week night and found it packed - about a 30 minute wait. Clearly this is a place where the locals go for good food. It's a small restaurant, perhaps 20-25 tables - including a smaller second dining room. Once seated the waitress was very friendly and competent. The food was the best that we best we found in Port Angeles. We'd recommend trying it.

We were passing through Port Angeles and my wife had done some research regarding the best breakfast places along the route. This had been highly reviewed so we thought we would give it a shot. I was halfway skeptical when I parked near the quality green/white motel next door, but this place was brilliant! Nice staff, great breakfast, great Eggs Benedict. If you don't get Eggs Benedict here, you're either a communist or .. something else that's like a communist.. I should learn history and facts and stuff of the sort, eh?

The nicest people. The best food! Eggs Saratoga was a unique specialty dish that we tried. It consisted of eggs, cream cheese, cheese and onions. It was great! The real winner was the omelet with crab and shrimp. It was declared to be one of the best things some folks in my party had ever eaten. Looking around Port Angeles, this may be the only good place to eat besides the DQ! The service was also excellent. The surroundings are quaint and the view to their restaurant side greenery is a wonderful addition to the good food and service. Don't waste your time eating anywhere else in Port Angeles. Just come here.
