Cafe Four is presently closed (signage is gone, too). I understand that there are new owners. We have not heard when they are re-opening or what the name will be.

The ambiance of Cafe Four was perfect. It is tucked away inside a stone building you are instantly welcomed with exposed brick walls, sky blue ceilings & an eclectic, yet wonderfully curated, selection of sculpture & art. Most of the art appears to be local. It is modern, yet cozy and is really a great dining space.
We arrived for lunch on a Saturday and all of the tables were full so we waited by the bar for about 15 minutes for one to open.
During this time, I observed a lot of impatient customers. I could tell right away they were short-staffed. It appeared that there were 3 servers on the floor and 1 man, who appeared to be the owner. A group of women at the bar were waiting for their check the whole 15 minutes we were sitting there. I overheard them making comments about how they just wanted the check so they could leave but nobody would stop over or look & notice. We observed a few other tables get up and hover by the host stand to pay as nobody was bringing them the check. I knew that we were in for a long lunch experience, and I was right.
After we were seated, we waited another 5-10 minutes and our waitress came by and we ordered beer, soup & a pizza. We received the beers and waited for about 15 minutes. No soup. I told my husband that they must have forgotten. It was a shame because we were hungry, already sitting in the restaurant for 40 minutes now, and soup is generally something that is very quick to serve. Just pour and deliver. That is why we ordered it as opposed to an appetizer, we wanted food right away!
Finally our waitress came over and told us that the printer in the kitchen wasn't working and they never got our order. I'm surprised it took her so long to follow up on this.
The soup was a seasonal butternut squash and was very tasty.
Our pizza arrived maybe another 15 minutes later and it was excellent. Wood-fired with that nice thin rustic shaped crust with minimal, yet quality, toppings. The cheese was a little skimpy, I would have liked them to add just a wee bit more. Not to the point of being like an American pizza place, but it literally had like 5 little dollops on the whole thing. Just a few dollops more, please.
I wanted dessert, but was afraid on how long it would take. We were already in there for close to an hour & a half with all the waiting, and very little actual eating time.
I love the look & feel of the place. I love & appreciate the menu design/illustration. I loved the food. However it just seemed painfully slow and it kind of ruined it. I understand they were busy, but they should have a few more employees on a weekend then, and just be a little more observant of their customers. I saw a lot of customers with their arms crossed, staring and waiting for either drinks, food or the check. We were not the only ones irritated.
Also, our waitress had beautiful hair, however she had it down (not tied back) and there were several loose strands sticking to the front of her shirt. Whenever I cook at home, I always brush out any loose strands, inspect my shirt for any that might be sticking, then I tie my hair back. This is just basic hygiene when you are dealing with food. It is only a matter of time before that hair is going to fall off on top of someone's pizza.
So ladies, tie those gorgeous locks back & pick up the pace so your customers are not waiting & waiting and the you'll have a 5-star review. -

Our group of three had a really nice experience here. The guy waiting on us seemed like he might have been the owner and he was fantastic. The appetizers were excellent. Especially something called oven roses which were little pizza dough pastries with yummy vegtables baked inside. We three split three different pizzas and they were all very good. I thought the prices were reasonable and I'd gop back again.

Wow, what a surprise this place was.
Located in a tiny town in Southwest Wisconsin, the restaurant boasts a pretty simple menu--calzones and wood-fired pizzas and a few extras (as well as a special or two each evening). We opted for the pizzas and some apps.
The restaurant serves local, fresh and organic wherever possible and you can really tell.
We had the local award-winning cheese platter. Exceptional cheeses, each a delicious treat in its own right. The cheddar is particularly delicious. We also had the crostini with three sauces. The olive tapenade was great, as was the very, very fresh basil pesto.
We had one red sauce and one white sauce pizza and both were wonderful. We were far too full for dessert. -

Cafe Four was once by far one of the best restaurants in Southwestern Wisconsin. Unfortunately, the food and level of service have gone downhill.
The menu consists of a variety of gourmet pizza's and a few pasta dishes. The menu also includes a few starters and some excellent salads.
Be advised that when Cafe Four gets busy the staff seems to become overwhelmed very quickly. I experienced this on one of the many Friday's that I dined in the restaurant. The food quality also suffers a great deal on a busy evenings.
Overall, not a bad place to grab dinner when in Mineral Point. I recommend starting with the Caesar and having the Pizza Margarita for your main course. -

This place is excellent. Organic, local, high quality ingredients and delicious dishes. The food is no nonsense and very tasty, and the room and staff are welcoming. They know what they're doing. Its hard to go wrong with a wood-fired oven. For dessert, we had the best berry pie, ever. They call it bumbleberry...it has about four kinds of berries, plus rhubarb. It is #2 on my all-time list of best desserts I've ever eaten.

I just visited Cafe Four for their New Year's Eve prix fixe menu and I had to write a review. My family loved our 5 course meal and I cannot stress how enjoyable and relaxed the entire evening was. I have eaten here before and always had a wonderful experience but last night was over the top successful. My steak entree and crab soup starter were out-of-this-world delicious. The banana flambe (although not on fire when served) was one of the top 10 desserts I have had in my life. I truly felt like I was dining in a Michelin-starred restaurant with a world-famous chef personally cooking for my party of 6. The presentation of each course was like something I would see on a cooking competition on the Food Network. All of this in a 5 course meal plus champagne toast and only $38 on New Years Eve (!!!!!). I was blown away with the quality and value of this meal and I am already planning on next year's New Year's Eve celebration (and several trips in between). Oh, and I almost forgot the mention, Mineral Point is a cute old mining town with friendly people and art boutiques. Cafe Four is in a gorgeous old stone building and the interior makes me want to light up the fireplace and move right in! Thank you Cafe Four staff!

2 stars just to be nice. Please don't get me wrong, I'm all for organic and locally grown food, but man, oh, man. Maybe we caught them on the wrong night or something. Our food took FOREVER (like the Sandlot For- eh-vah) to be brought out to us. Pizza was Wiggety Wiggety Whack! Pasta was pretty bland tasting. I warn everyone not to order the organic soda....my children who love stealing sips of my carbonated drinks...declined a second sip. In the end, I felt like yelling out, "Give me the fake stuff, I want preservatives!"

Four is very relaxed and cool. If you're okay with that, with seasonably changing menus and spur of the moment decisions about hours of operation, you'll be fine. The wood-fired pizzas are great. They have a lovely well-priced wine list, and you'll feel welcomed and cozy. We may all need a little more of this in our crazy busy lives.

For father's day my family had a great lunch at Cafe Four. This place should be held up as a model for everything the Potosi Brewery wants to be, but isn't. Cafe Four markets itself as purveyors of organic, local dining so you can feel good about eating there, but for me it comes down to the food, atmosphere and service. All were outstanding. The lunch menu consists largely of paninis, calzones, and thin-crust pizzas (both tomato and white sauce varieties). I enjoyed my panini, but next time I'm definitely ordering a pizza! Service was prompt, friendly, and helpful. We were seated near the wood-fire oven, and the person working there was very friendly, talking with us and even offering our daughter tips on what he was doing. For dessert we ordered ice cream (there's a small counter in the restaurant) which was delicious - I had a dark chocolate that was a perfect finish to the meal. The decor inside was classy and clean, with local art and some vintage posters placed here and there. There's also patio seating in the back that we didn't take advantage of. Add Cafe Four to the growing list of hidden gems in rural southwest Wisconsin.

I live in town, and there are very few places to eat. So as far as food goes, it ranges from ok (pizza) to really great (Friday fish fry). My issue was the service received (tonight). We had a party of three, and two of us received our entrees, and the other took at least 4-5 minutes to arrive. The waitress (part owner?) was so busy catering to a young group of men who were locals, that she neglected to make sure our order was complete and served together. I didn't get my salad until we flagged down the bartender (part owner?). So, while I will definitely return, I think my expectation of service will have to be low, so I don't disappoint myself!
