Review from Misty L.
St Marys, GA
My family and I were on vacation in New Orleans last month during the French Quarter Festival and stopped by the first restaurant we could find because our children were "starving." They ordered the chocolate chip pancakes and couldn't finish their plate so I took a "little" bite.
OMG!! The chocolate was AMAZING!! The pancakes cooked PERFECT! Those were without a doubt, the BEST pancakes I have ever had!
I was NOT disappointed at all. Quick service, good food. -
Review from Laura W.
Miami, FL
On a recent trip to the French Quarter for a friends wedding my boyfriend and I stopped in here for a quick breakfast before skipping town. We had picked this place after reading all the reviews about their hash browns and pancakes. Since I am gluten free the pancake were out and the hash browns were in.
We LOVE hash browns and living in Miami we don't get them too often because Miami seems to favor home fries (don't know why...). Anywho, They did not live up to the reviews. Not even close. Ours came in pools of butter, which don't get me wrong can be a very good thing but it wasn't working for there hash browns. I ordered a 2 egg breakfast with bacon and hash browns and my eggs came in a similar pool. If I had been hungover or still drunk from the night before I probably would have been in heaven but for a sober meal I would skip this place.
Oh! The coffee....AWFUL. Couldn't drink it. Threw out both of them after the first sip. -
Review from Gloria H.
Glad I bookmarked this place. Just blocks from the hotel, it was a nice easy walk to get some good breakfast.
Go straight toward the register to place your order - DO NOT sit down or ask anyone in your party to grab a table, that's a no-no and you'll be asked to move. Their policy on the table is first come first serve so no table unless you have a order number. The menu is right above the register and to the left. If I am not mistaken, there's one person working on the grill for everyone's meals - kudos for turning the orders around so quickly!
The line may look long because everyone in the parties are standing around but it moves relatively fast so know what to order when it's your turn.
We ordered the Big Easy Breakfast and 2 small coffee and the order was plenty for the two of us. It has everything - pancakes, toasts, eggs, bacon, sausage and your choice of grits or hash brown. We opted for the hash brown. The eggs (over easy) were perfectly cooked. The hash brown was delicious. The stars to us were the sausage patties and the pancakes - YUM!
It was such a good experience that we returned for our last breakfast in NOLA before heading to the airport. -

Sooooo slooooow. Took 45 minutes to get my food. Not how long I want to wait for breakfast (which by the time you get it should be called lunch). Grits were dry. Biscuits were dry.... nothing special.

I've eaten at this little cafe about a dozen times on visits to the Big Easy and I love it. Great eggs bene, ultimate grilled cheese, hash browns and most of all, the pancakes... out of this world! The staff couldn't be friendlier and in true southern fashion, you feel more like a cherished friend when you step up to the counter to place an order than just a customer. This is usually my first breakfast visit on any trip to New Orleans.

Stopped here for breakfast after taking a stroll and glad we stopped in. The staff is friendly and a nice selection for a cheap breakfast. We had a good breakfast sandwich and their topped hash browns for a good deal.

This was perfect hangover brunch. You stand in line and order immediately, then sit down and wait for your food. Even with it packed on Saturday, my group of eight all were served within about fifteen minutes.
The food was greasy and tasty as hell. The Cajun omelet was completely worth the daylong heartburn. Home fries, coffee, and everything else that tends to be throwaways at brunch were good. This is not a relaxed, three-hour brunch, but if you need grease and coffee and love New Orleans style food, this is your place.
Only complaint: it's a bit on the pricy side, especially given that you stand in line to give your order. I can definitely get an omelet and coffee for less than 16 bucks in Boston. -

Um, 5 stars and here's why:
Customer service: promptly greeted, my party and I were told good morning by the cashier, a cook, and two busboys. Our waters were promptly filled and we were asked if we needed any additional condiments or silverware. Nice.
Speed: Cashier was prompt. Food was brought out within 10 minutes.
Portions: Is it a southern thing to have portions the size of your head?! My mom and I SHARED the Big Easy Entree for breakfast: eggs, bacon, 2 pieces of sausage, two pancakes (omg), hash browns, and two pieces of toast. Where they do that at?!!!!!! N'awlins! Holla.
Food: The pancakes were the best I ever had. How in THE world do they get them so fluffy, light, and the perfect golden brown? Oh, and powdered sugar on top, too! The hash browns were perfectly seasoned, by the way.
Prices: $10 for the Big Easy entree! Can't beat that price.
Tourists, come hungry...leave full and satisfied. -
Review from Todd S.
The highs - prompt service, food delivered fast and hot. GREAT pancakes and large portions. Solid blue-plate breakfast.
The lows - the coffee. Drip generic blah. Nothing fancy - the bacon was limp, thin and generic. Food was probably Sysco, straight out of the truck (except for the pancakes). However, for the portions, the price was right and nothing was below-par by any stretch of the imagination (except for the coffee).
Recommended - go for the pancakes, the bloody marys and bring your cafe-au-lait with you. -

The breakfast here is great. We were in NOLA for 5 nights/4 days & ate here for 3 days bcs we foolishly ate somewhere else our 1st morning. I wouldn't consider this a greasy spoon but more of a diner type breakfast. Their prices are reasonable especially with it being right in the French Quarter where price gouging seems to be the norm.

Great hash browns, delicious chocolate chip pancakes, friendly staff. Coffee could use some work.
Pictures are misleading, as the actual plates received left much to be desired. -

Came to Cafe Fleur De Lis after a night on Bourbon street. So I needed something easy on my stomach. We stood in line to order while my group watched all the tables disappear. But luckily there was one left when we were done ordering.
I ordered the omlete with feta and spinach with hashbrowns. My friends ordered the egg sandwich with grits and the oatmeal. My omlete was delicious and the hashbrowns were awesome. I thought the hasbrowns would be all greasy but they were not and had wonderful seasoning on them. The omlete was a little greasy so I was only able to finish half of it, but I would order it again for sure. My friends really enjoyed their egg sandwiches and the grits. My friends that ordered the oatmeal enjoyed it but were hungry when they finished even though it was a huge bowl of oatmeal with bananas.
Cute little place for breakfast. Would recommend to people living in NOLA and visiting. Was a quick walk from our hotel in the French Quarter.Listed in: NOLA!

I'm not much of a breakfast person but the cheesy hashbrowns called to me. I answered happily. It's a small place and if you are sitting 4 to a table the surrounding environs can get pretty cramped. You order, they give you a plastic number than you rest on the table. There's no sitting and holding a table until everyone arrives or when you're ready to order. Other peeps I was with got the veggie omelet with bacon (of course!) and eggs benedict. They were swooning over their food. All in all, a good deal for a good price.

Review from Steve I.
I am a regular here as it is one of my favorite quick breakfast places in the area. It is almost always busy here and you order at the counter (like Mother's). The service here is very good and quick. If you like omelets they have big omelets that are quite delicious. I have tried every omelet here except the three cheese omelet and enjoy them all esp. the western omelet (ham, sausage, bacon, and the usual other stuff), the cajun country (ham, sausage, hash browns, and stuff), and the fleur de lis omelet (crawfish, pepper jack cheese, and crawfish sauce).
You have to order the hash browns every time too!! Awesome hash browns! They also serve lots of other breakfast items like waffles, pancakes, and breakfast plates. Sandwiches, salads, and burgers for lunch. I really like their Cobb Salad which comes with avocados, eggs, bacon, ham, tomatoes, and bleu cheese.
Located across the street from the W hotel (which I love!). Great French Quarter breakfast spot. Lunch items are decent but their breakfast is the show-stopper. -

my husband and i were recently in NOLA for four days, which included three mornings. which, of course, meant three breakfasts.
we ate breakfast at cafe fleur de lis twice.
in fact, the only reason we didn't eat there all three mornings is because we ate at another restaurant the first morning. had we eaten here first, cafe fleur de lis would've been three for three. we saw a waiter leave a couple of times with trays of covered food and walk across the street to the hotel. it appears as though this place delivers room service to the guests there. we'll be staying there next time :)
the pancakes were in-credible. i have no idea what my husband ate, i can't remember. i was far too involved with my strawberry covered, powdered sugar dusted, impossibly fluffy pancakes to really even notice. i'm pretty sure they brought me a plate of 3 pancakes, but it could just as easily have been 12. there was no way i was finishing them all and i was just a little sad about it...is it weird to miss pancakes?
anyway, super friendly staff, reasonably priced (for b'fast in the quarter) and, of course, ridiculously good pancakes. eat here!!!! -

I had trouble looking for breakfast joints in NOLA so I was happy to find this cafe.
Long story short, a good place for breakfast, lunch, or an afternoon snack and coffee fix. Nothing special but also nothing bad about this place. -

New Orleans, LA
I stopped in for a quick lunch today during my break, and there was not one quick thing about this lunch. Although the workers here are super nice, I think it is a bit ridiculous that my burger took an average of 30 minutes to make. And to put the cherry on top, I ordered my burger medium and it came out well-done. Overall, it wasn't a good experience. The burger was not all that. And the utensils were all dirty.
I have heard that the food here is good, and maybe I'll give them another try. If I did, it's because of the staff that I'll come back. They were too kind. I'll just make sure to order something different next time. -
Review from Kate F.

Final breakfast of a weeklong trip. The hash browns were well seasoned, hot, and at the appropriate level of greasy that I want from diner hash browns. I ordered bacon and got sausage, the husband ordered an omelet with peppers and salsa and the salsa got left out and brought separately a few minutes later. The croissant was forgotten and brought late, too, but who cares. It was tasty, inexpensive, and fast, and that was what we were going for.

A neighborhood gem... in the Quarter.
So... the qwerk about this place is that you stand in line and order BEFORE taking a table. By the time you've ordered, there's an open table.
Love the lady who runs the place / takes the orders... she's a no-nonsense gal... quick and efficient.
Great Bloody Marys! Order it... Sip... and Enjoy. :)
They do a nice breakfast and the ambiance is fun.
Some of their dishes are quite large... but the egg breakfast I get is the perfect size. And the toast is perfectly done.
Plus, you can order breakfast sandwiches To Go if you don't want to eat in. -

New Orleans, LA
This is a fantastic place for breakfast and lunch in the French Quarter.
It's just honest, simple, good food for a great price.
I've had nearly everything from this little place.
Pastries. Pancakes. Egg breakfasts. Chicken ceasar salads. Sandwiches. Mimosas... YES! They have mimosas!
Just know that it's a pretty small place, and can get packed pretty quickly. But be patient. The line usually goes pretty fast, though the tables don't always clear fast enough for my liking.
If you want something fast, delicious and of high quality for the price, I would definitely recommend this spot. -

Apparently, I need to get to the French Quarter more often. I had a Friday off and the weather was great, so my friend and I decided to stroll around the French Quarter. We wanted to grab a bite to eat and I was in the mood for a late breakfast and a Bloody Mary.
Cafe Fleur de Lis kept popping up on our online searches, so we decided to try it. I was surprised at how busy this place was on a weekday. I decided on a Cajun Omelet and a Bloody Mary. LOTS of spice, and even the hash browns were full of flavor. My friend got a Big Easy Breakfast. OMG, the pancakes are insane!
I wasn't crazy about the set up where you have to order at the counter, and we were confused when we walked in about the seating.T he staff was really friendly and I felt like I was a regular by the time I left, lol. Everyone was thanking us for coming and it was just really comfortable (for lack of a better word). The portions are huge and neither of us were able to finish, but we really did try.
I gave a 5 because the food was so good, flavorful, I am craving another one. This is one of the most unusual omelettes I have eaten! The staff was also very accomodating. I usually enojy more of a full service restaurant, but this is what we needed on a cool Friday.
I think I have a new addiction. -

This place was good. I had the seafood omelet and I could have used a bit more seafood. As a local I'm used to places piling on the shrimp and crawfish so this felt skimpy but the flavors were great, everything was cooked well and the price was good. The service was great too and everyone was friendly.

Let me start by saying the Hash browns in the place is the BEST I've ever had. Hands down! We would've missed this place, if Earl from the Marriott hadn't mentioned it. And thank God he did.
It's a small cafe, and its always packed, and some how there's always a table available. You have to order first before you sit. By the time you finish ordering, there's a table waiting for you and your party. The staff is tremendously friendly and efficient. The kitchen is super fast. And the food is good. We only went for breakfast, and I have to say the best thing on their breakfast menu is the hash browns.
It was a group of 5 ppl, and we had a range from omelets, to pancakes and waffles to pastries, and breakfast sandwiches.
Pancakes and waffles=3.5
Bacon, Egg, and cheese sandwich on a biscuit = 4
Hash Browns = 5
Chocolate Croissant= 5
Greek Omelet = 5
Ham and Cheese Omelet = 3.5(ham was salty) -

The fleur-de-lis is one of the many well-known symbols of New Orleans, probably most famous as the emblem of the New Orleans Saints team. So what other name would be better fitting for a country/cajun breakfast/lunch place located in the heart of the French Quarter than Cafe Fleur-de-Lis? This was our final food destination in New Orleans, as we brought our trip to a close.Like a few of the other restaurants we'd been to the previous day, there was nothing really fancy about this place. Really it's all about the food here. There are your simple breakfast items like bagels, pastries, and cereal on display at the order counter, But they also have an extensive, made-to-order breakfast/lunch menu, all classically hand-written on blackboards with that cool chalk-marker stuff. So, we had looked up Cafe Fleur-de-Lis earlier and heard that the omelets were pretty big, and as a result--we agreed on another split: The Cajun Country Omelet (which came with toast, hash browns, and orange slices) and a side order of pancakes. And boy, are we glad we did! The omelet was HUGE and topped with gravy and fresh chopped parsley, the pancakes were big, fluffy, and dusted with powdered sugar...It was more than enough for both of us.
After the first mouthful of that omelet, I swear I heard a choir of Seraphim belting "Hallelujah"! ...Yes, it was THAT good. And the pancakes? They literally melted in my mouth with slightly sweet, buttery deliciousness. And I'm pretty much convinced that all New Orleans coffee is good. Best. Breakfast. Ever. I guarantee you I will be returning here in the future.
Bottom line: Cafe Fleur-de-Lis is another example of awesome food, reasonable prices, and simple, basic surroundings. The breakfast isn't just good...it's EPIC!

For about 2 years this was my go-to breakfast place.
When you go in, you've gotta grab an open table when you see it then send someone else to order. This isn't a place that does seating - you've gotta fight for those tables! After you order, the cashier gives you a number then you collect your silverware and butter and jellies and wait for the food.
I'd always order a two-cheese omelette with whole wheat toast, hash browns, and a side of grits. I do NOT recommend following this diet for more than 3 days, but hell - for about $7 for all that food, you just can't help it! -

The breakfast was really nothing different than a waffle house smothered, covered and so on. Will not be returning. I give them 3 stars because they serve a good Bloody Mary. Other dishes looked better than the house special hash browns.

Only had breakfast here, but it was to die for! Sausage is great, but it's the hashbrowns that seal the deal. Garlicy, buttery...perfection! Prices are good for how much you get. Can't finish a whole breakfast, even when really hungry!

If you like butter, this is your place. If you like coffee, head elsewhere.
Food was pretty average, but functional. Pancakes were thick with butter inside the mix. Coffee was watery, so if Starbucks or Peets is your pleasure then you'll be left wanting. Hashbrowns are actively stirred, so keep that in mind as hashbrown preferences vary widely.
Service was great, and the woman directing traffic (people to tables) was fabulous. She turned what could be chaos into something that worked like a finely oiled machine. -

Great food! Line moves quickly. Have a someone in your group grab a table while others order. Otherwise, you may have trouble finding an open one.
We went here twice during our NOLA stay. First time I had the omlette and the second time I had pancakes. Both were amazing. The hash browns were really great. A woman who worked there (could have been the owner?) told us they used garlic powder and oregano in the hash browns to give them a great flavor (along with other, secret spices). Pancakes were fluffy and surprisingly not overfilling.
This was a bit more expensive than I would have liked ($20-30 for two) but I didn't leave feeling ripped off! Definitely recommend for those staying in the French Quarter! -
Review from Phil C.
Went here a couple times and each time was good. Big menu to choose from. There's a lunch side and breakfast side. Served all day long. Haven't had issues with grabbing a table even when it got a little busy.
Got the Fleur de lis Club, a turkey, ham, cheese melt with bacon. Was buttery good, only issue that i had was that the meat was a bit skimpy, wish it had a few more slices of ham and turkey. but it was still oozy good and the bacon.. mmmm bacon.
Second time, I got the Cajun burger, comes with two thin spicy patties, lettuce, tomato, and onion on the side. Had good flavor, no major complaints, wasn't too spicy for me. Hash browns were good to, love the crispy parts. an instant fav.
My friends ordered from the breakfast menu and they liked what they ordered. Custom omelettes and big fluffy pancakes are tasty.Listed in: NOLA!!

Not the best breakfast I had but not the worst by far either. Very generous portions make up for a lack of outstanding quality. This is a great place to come post hangover in need of some greasy fuel.
It is very very crowded though so make sure you grab an open table as soon as you see it. It can also be a bit slow on the service side so don't come here in any rush.
Good menu, ok food, very crowded, but still enjoyable. -

I had the seafood omlett and was skeptical that it would be worth 12 dollars.
It was. The crawfish sauce is etouffe sauce and is heavenly with the omlett. -

Cafe Fleur De Lis you cured my hangover, good job. Think of a diner that serves crawfish in its omelets.
I had a bacon / egg / cheese sandwich on wheat toast with a side of hash browns. It was solid enough for what I paid ($6.50). They forgot my order so I had to grab the manager and ask for it again, no big deal, I could tell they made it fresh on the spot.
Friendly staff, willing to help. This was surprising given the huge Mardi Gras crowd that quickly gathered past 11am.
I would definitely come here for cheap, post boozing, diner food. -

....and I am being generous with that 1 star!
Second day in NOLA, we wanted to try another breakfast place beside MENA's Palace (4 stars). We were staying at the W Hotel and one of the workers there suggested this place.
You go up to the counter to order your food. Hubby and I decided we will share the Crawfish etouffee omelette. While waiting at least 15mins for our food we watched delivery guys going in and out of this place hauling stuff in. The highly raved omelette finally arrived. I took the first bite and it was COLD in the middle! What? Really? The hubby took it back to let them know that our food was cold. Not to make a big deal about it he even asked to just have it nuked in the microwave (I would've asked for a new one). 5mins past, then 15min, then 20mins!!! We patiently waited thinking that they felt bad and was going to make us a new one. Some lovely guy (NOT!) dropped our plate on our table. My husband and i stared at each other in disbelief! They gave us the same dish back sans our toast that we left on the plate. Horrible, horrible, experience!
If you wanna have a nice breakfast walk a little further down the road to Mena's Palace. You won't be disappointed. -

Totally decent joint for a quick, fresh breakfast. My wife, the ultimate breakfast snob, declared that her omelette was "way better than Mother's.". Wasn't crazy about the blaring hip hop over the speakers but food was solid and they are open on Thanksgiving.

We tried Cafe Fleur De Lis on our recent trip to New Orleans. Using the factors of atmosphere, taste, and pricing I was quite underwhelmed by this restaurant.
I ordered the Cobb salad for lunch. It was $13. Not a crazy price, but high for a salad.
The base of the salad was your basic bag lettuce you could pick up at any grocery store. I literally felt like they had cut open a plastic bag of lettuce, and dropped it into my bowl. Then they topped it with standard items. There was absolutely nothing special about it.
I always want to have something at a restaurant that I can't easily make on my own at home. There was not one thing about the preparation of this meal that made it unique in any way. -
Review from M G.

Very busy on a Sunday morning, pre-Saints game. Note: do not take a table if you haven't ordered and rec'd the red number. Even if your friend is in line ordering, they will ask you to order before sitting.
I had the waffle which took a while to cook. They said the first one didn't come out right so they were re-making it. When it did arrive, it was cooked perfectly so no harm, no foul.
Unfortunately I did not get to try the hash browns, but I think my waist line is thanking me.
If you're a part of a group of +2 or are hungry walking in, I'm not sure this place will satisfy you.
