Somersworth, NH
So I live around there and it's actually a pretty good place. The mexican food is pretty good, the drinks I found to be really delicious and they have good deals on mimosas and margaritas, and the staff is always really friendly and nice.
I recommend it if you're in the neighborhood and hungry, I wouldn't say its out of the ordinary incredible but definitely a place I'd go to again -

It's Tex-Mex. You better know this going in, or your going to be wondering what the hell mozzarella cheese is doing on your enchilada.
That said, the waitstaff is nice and it's kind of the only game in town for a hipster Mexican restaurant, if that's what you're looking for. -

Eh, the food is very mediocre. My rice in the the burrito wasn't fully cooked and my dessert was bland. The margaritas were very good and the presentation of the food ALMOST made up for the taste but not quite. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive but the staff/bartender--random woman--I don't know who she was-- definitely was rushing us to pay and finish which was a little annoying but understandable. We ended up taking our drinks next door which was cool but I won't go back here--too expensive for the quality.

I don't live far from Enduro, but I only go when I can't get people to go anywhere else. It's the most expensive Mexican for many blocks, and indeed some of the most expensive food.
Yeah, yeah, it's a gentrifier spot on Gentrifier Row, a cafe/bar/Enduro/art installation on Lincoln that caters to a different clientele than virtually any other business for at least half a mile. So why do some of the staff look at working class Black patrons (in a working class Black neighborhood) out of the side of their eyes? If you expect no tip, you treat someone badly, then you earn no tip. I work tip jobs- expecting no tip is a self-fulfilling prophecy.
The food is okay, but I really do prefer to hedge my bets with the taco stands down on Caton. -

I cam here twice, once for brunch and once to hang out.
The brunch was ok. It was unmemorable. I totally forgot what I had.
This review is for the place as a hang out spot. In this area of Brooklyn, it is hard to find a local bar to hang out at night. This place fills in that gap quite nicely. It's not too crowded, the music doesn't over power conversation. The bartender is both knowledgeable and colloquial. The patrons are nice too, if your a neighborhood newbie, you just might make a friend.
The drinks are cheap and food is available to munch. I recommend if you want a casual night out away from home, or if your buddies come to town and you need something to do on a week night. -

This place serves the best Mexican in the neighborhood. It' certainly not the best in the five boroughs or even in Brooklyn but it is tasty.
The service is typically good and the food is good.
The white sangria is really good.
Warning: if you want a quiet dinner, this is likely not the place for you. They have a small crowd of regulars who treat it as much like a bar as a restaurant. -
Review from Cynthia F.
Completely overpriced options in a restaurant that clearly wishes the neighborhood would catch up to its unearned ambitions.
I'm really surprised by the good reviews of the margaritas here. The margarita I ordered (classic lime) was obviously made with a margarita mix. To add insult to injury, it contained so much acid that for the first time in my life, I was faced with an undrinkable margarita. Pointing this out to the bartender was like whistling in the wind: he could not care less.
On another occasion, my eggs in the eggs benedict I ordered for their famed brunch (that so many reviewers seem to laud) were over-done, and the meat used was a really cheap, thin slice of processed ham. I have to say, not being able to get poached eggs right is a real puzzle. All you have to do is watch the timer!
Service, as many pointed out, was completely cheery, and completely incompetent. -

I am giving the restaurant 3 stars an the Bar 4 stars.
The Bar: This is the best on offer in the neighborhood, if you can get a seat. While it is small, they make pretty good margaritas. They offer decent wine (usually) and the bartenders know how to treat their customers, whether you are staying for one or three. The trick is getting there at the right time They also offer a happy hour until 7, I think.
The Restaurant: The food is OK, mexican. Sure the prices are OK for the area and for what they offer. I can't imagine they could charge more. Enchiladas are a very tex/mex-generic-version, as are the tacos, therefore gringos love it-unless they know better. I tend to prefer a bit more authenticity. My friends and i ate there this weekend and the Fish special was quite mediocre, disappointing actually, as were the enchiladas. However, my burger was pretty good. We all agreed most was mediocre and the guac was the highlight of our dinner, but alas it was raining out and they offered a nice alternative than heading to a diff. neighborhood.
Oh, I almost forgot...BRUNCH! I would give that 3.5 starts. They are fine for brunch, not great, but fine. There coffee isn't the best, but their bloodies are, as I recall...again, the bar and their location makes it rise above 3 stars. -

Place is ok. Nothing special. There's always a wait, service is horribly slow in this place no matter how slow or busy they are... The food is ok, a bit expensive for an average mexican place, but its trendy enough to be just that....overrated...

Two words: Baja Tacos. Four more words: Green Chili Pork Burrito. Ok just two more words... Tostada Eggs. The food at Cafe Enduro is seriously good. Portions are big, you'll be rolling yourself home.
The only, ONLY gripe I have is brunch. The food, again, GREAT! But more than once I've had poor/slow service during the brunch hour. When you have to go next door to get a cup of coffee bc it's quicker than ordering from your server, there's a problem. But the food still keeps me coming back each time. -

$4 mimosas, and within a walking distance from my home. Can't beat that! We went in eager for a good lunch. Mimosas made with sour orange, as well as the Peach Bellini were good. The guacamole was a perfect combination (not too spicy), large enough to satisfy 4 hungry people. I went with the eggs tostada, which was good overall, except that the rice it was resting in was very dry. Quesadillas were alright.
As many mentioned, service is excruciating slow. Waitress was friendly and instructive but there was obviously a lack of organization. We watched a waitress take an order and another ask the same group for orders. Checks were also late -

The food is horrible, point blank! But, they can get away with it because next to The Blue Roost, it is the only restaurant in the neighborhood. The male waiter that they have right now is very rude. No one greets you at the door and then they get pissed if you sit yourself. You have to pay for tortilla chips and pay separately for some salsa-RIDICULOUS!
Yeah, this spot is pretty horrible! -

This place is not bad, but does not fully satisfy your Mexican food itch if you're from the west coast. It's mostly Tex-Mex, I think? Nothing is spicy, but if you want a big ol burrito or a giant bowl of guacamole and a very easy atmosphere, it's good for that. We eat here fairly regularly.

Brooklyn, NY
The food is good (I had the tacos, my friend had meatless burritos and was underwhelmed). But I'm giving it 2 stars because 1) the service could have been better, it took 30+ minutes for us to get our food! Even the waitress apologized for the long wait, which leads to 2) our waitress was nice enough, but sort of a dingbat. Also 2) the supposed white sangria was hardly a sangria. It was more like grapefruit screwdriver (good, but I was really in the mood for a true sangria). All in all it was alright but I've been to MUCH BETTER Mexican places in the city. But I'm sure that folks in the neighborhood are just happy to have a "nice" and "funky" restaurant to walk to.

First and foremost I would like to thank Lyra K. for the heads up on pitcher prices, I instinctively order that as soon as I sit down but being aware of the damage it would do stuck to a half pitcher (not enough to reach the beautiful giggly effect that tequila in large quantities has, but just enough to peddle home feeling slightly lighter).
Food wise we had a Blue Crab & Corn Chowder and Grilled Corn for appetizers-the soup was phenomenal! I'm usually not a fan of sea creatures in my soups but the crab served as more of an accent than an overpowering addition. Entree wise I went for a Shi-itake Mushroom and Artichoke Quesadilla...I just finished eating the leftovers and will confirm it is just as good cold (and for breakfast no less). My bf is finicky as all hell when it comes to Mexican food so the fact that he was raving about his Beef Quesadilla was somewhat shocking for me and will serve as further testament that the food is damn tasty.
Service was also great, he was knowledgeable (and honest) about the menu, efficient and had a great personality. I think next time we'll come at happy hour to partake in a greater quantity of margaritas....Listed in: Places I Play in the BK

Decent bar place in a nice neighborhood. The Guac is great (I'm a cali girl, so I know good guac!). Lots of yummy pancake and crepe dishes. The chipotle style eggs benedict is a real treat. The staff was not friendly and this is a big issue for me. So a-OK for now.

Astoria, NY
I really liked eating here at first, and then I just got sick of it. Every dish I ordered tasted like the last. No variation in flavors, I don't know what it was. Maybe it was the tortilla (which had a weird sweetness to it, I like my tortilla saltier), or the LACK OF CHIPS, but eventually it was just... boring. It wasn't bad, just... average. And I would just get so enraged at the lack of chips and salsa, seriously, come on. I don't understand it.
Actually, there was one dish i REALLY loved - the nachos appetizer was freakin awesome, but it was so HUGE I never ordered it. I always wanted it as a meal and no one would split with me ): I'm not a big leftovers fan, especially if its a mix of food. If only it were 1/4 the size. I liked the turkey.
Service was very nice though. They got to know us (since basically its the only restaurant in that area, we always went) so were especially friendly. -

come on now Enduro! Really? The only Mexican restaurant in the neighborhood and you can't manage to get me in at least once a week... something is really wrong. I mean I try. I really do, but now you've done me really wrong. You changed the only thing you mastered perfectly - the steamed mussels in white wine sauce with chorizo - How Could You Change The Only Thing In The Menu That KICKED ASS.
I ordered the mussels to go, got home, poured a glass of wine and was ready enjoy them until I realized I had taken home somebody's left-over instead.... I thought " why is there white rice... and beans... and rock shrimp in my mussels?... and where is the chorizo... this is definitely one of the kitchen guy's food (I thought)" So like a good yelper I walked back to get what I ordered but was told the menu changed and those are the new mussels... struck with disbelief I looked at the menu and read... "mussles with rice beans and - UGHHHH (i said) that is soooo disgusting!!!" and so there goes a place that is just a waste of space. A place that's only going to remind me how much i want to hop on the train for one stop to get some real Mexican food in Park Slope.
The guacamole was good once, but the other 5x it has been too spicy, soaked in lime juice or not fresh.. and so you get the point.
Maybe i'm being a little hard on Enduro so i'm going to list what I think are the pluses:
+ The crab cakes special on Tuesdays are good. The pecan crusted trout is great but those are two things I don't really care for at a Mexican restaurant unless is upscale.
+The drinks are good, I like the sangria.
+The service is great, really nice and friendly.
+This one of the only sit-down places in this neighborhood where you can bring a friend.1 Previous Review: Show all »

This is the review I posted on Chowhound. The only thoughts I'd like to add is that I wavered between three and four stars -- three based on quality of the food, but four because I'm so damn happy there's a sit down place in my 'hood. Bonus is that they make good margaritas.
* * * *
Went to Enduro last night to meet a friend for dinner. Have to say it was rather nice to go out to a restaurant in my neighborhood instead of hopping on the Q train to Prospect Heights and Park Slope. House margarita okay, but it was $5. Upgraded to the $7 one. Spot on margarita yumminess, though not as blissful as the margaritas at Maria's in the Slope. Watched the bartender make a pitcher of margaritas for another customer and noticed that it was 8/10ths filled with tequila and ice and a splish splash of mix. At $25, maybe I'll be ordering that with friends next! Good deal. Draft beer ranges from $3-5. $3 for the house brew and $4 for Dos Equis.
Atmosphere was genial -- except for a strange low level altercation between two men at the bar that carried out onto the street. Enduro has a fireplace, which was nice as it started snowing a bit.
As for the food, it was okay. Chicken mole poblano tacos were in need of salt and lime big time (or some other acid to wake up the flavor). Dessert of chocolate bread pudding also seemed to be missing something. Perhaps too dry? But what can I say . . . the food wasn't awful. Prices were good, location was a definite plus for me. $7 for tacos. $10-12 for larger platters. $6 for dessert. I'd definitely consider trying to get my Park Slope friends to come my way for a drink instead of vice versa. And I'll give Enduro a few more passes only if to support a local business. Maybe by then they'll work out the kinks in the cooking.
Oh and PS -- it's cash only. Make sure you hit up the ATM first. -

Austin, TX
I would just like to preface this by saying I'm a native Texan, so I KNOW tex-mex. =)
I really liked this place! It wasn't quite REAL tex-mex food, but it was pretty close. I went for brunch once (REALLY GOOD), and then another time for dinner (also great!). Everyone else below has pretty much said everything that I'd say.
My only major problem with this place is that you have to pay for the chips and salsa. Offering free chips and salsa is pretty much the most stereotypical thing that you can do to establish your restaurant as a quality tex-mex place, and this place just gave that notion the finger. I DID pay for chips and salsa, it was ok, which isn't good when you have to buy it. If it was free, then I'd be raving about the AWESOME free salsa, wouldn't I?
I mean, if BURRITOVILLE, a chain that is essentially the bastard child of the tex-mex industry, can offer up free chips and salsa, I think this place can too.
About the service....the time I had brunch there, our waitress was good enough. However, when I had dinner there..... I'd say the amount of time we spend waiting for the check and then paying was equal to the amount of time we did everything else there. Actually, my boyfriend and to get up and go get her from where she was chatting with the other servers by the water pitchers. Having to ASK to pay after waiting for a loooong time is a definite mood-killer for me, no matter how good the enchiladas are.
Oh, and I like the fireplace. I look forward to nicer weather, when the outside seating is available. -

I have been coming here for the last 2-3 years and they have been consistently good. Great laid back spot to hang in the neighborhood and see familiar faces. I have tried almost everything on their menu but have been sticking to the chicken enchiladas for $8.00. They used to serve these really good mussels but they changed it on their menu and now serve is with rice and beans which is way too filling for an appetizer. That is the reason i am giving them 4 instead of 5 stars. They should really consider bringing the original mussel dish back. It was really good.
Their margaritas are pretty good also. That is a must have when you go there. They also have the option of ordering a pitcher if need more.
What also makes this place good it they have a connecting bar next door with pool tables and bar food. They also allow you to bring your food next door. I haven't actually eaten the bar food yet, only because it's hard not to order the enchiladas.
Great neighborhood spot!! -

Chinatown, NY
Tasty food but very spotty service, which I feel needs to be discussed first. We chose to sit outside and after the cursory seating and order taking, we didn't see our server for half an hour. Another server on a smoke break bussed our table, packed our leftovers, and arranged for the check. Were it not for her, they'd be down to two stars, hands down.
This is faux-artisan yup-Mex, but amusingly good. We had a veggie burrito with wild mushrooms that was plenty large (but still $10.50) and guacamole and curried apple tacos served with jicama slaw. The guac was heaping and quite nice. Both dishes were topped with plantain chips - a nice touch. We started off with chips and salsa, and would refrain from doing so again, as the chips were cold and bore a slight plastic taste, as as the salsa portions were generous, we favor chunky to soupy. We had an extremely sweet green salsa and a sorta spicy, smoky red, but neither were, in my estimation, worth having again.
Like I told my dining companion on our way there, "this is Mexican food for white people." Although the clientle didn't completely reflect that stereotype, I'd rather eat Mexican food for Mexican people. -

This place is in my neighborhood so my BF and I thought we'd try dinner in Brooklyn for once.
We both got the chicken soup and it was good.
If anything the service was lacking. Another table's food got brought to us. Then finally ours came. I made the mistake of getting an elaborate fish dish. Mike got the Fahitas and they were great, my entree made me feel sick.
I asked bartender to make me a drink that was fruity, where I couldn't taste alcohol too much. It must have been flavored well vodka with club soda or something bc it tasted outrageously strong. I even asked them to throw some cran juice in it and I still couldn't drink it. Left with a full drink on the table. -

Cafe Enduro is a cool Mexican-style restaurant just half a block from Prospect Park in the Prospect-Lefferts Gardens neighborhood. If your getting ready to or leaving from taking a stroll through the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and looking for a sit down eatery other then the local Wendy's, here is your best bet.
The Maple Glazed Pork Chop was enticing. Served with two hearty pieces of pineapple gave it a breakfast flair while the rice and spice that came with the pork chop gave it dinner essence. The brunch menu was multifarious, mixed between omelets and burritos. The guava margarita I ordered was mouthwatering, making me a happy customer at the end of meal. -

New York, NY
This new long-awaited Mexican spot on Lincoln road is a few steps from Prospect Park located between the park and the Brooklyn Botanic garden.
It's the second new spot to open on the block (the other being a coffee shop.)
The menu is small but there seems to be plenty to choose from. We tried two of the tacos -- a chicken version and the pork version. Both were yum, although I did need to ask for some salsa to add to the chicken and guac as it was a little too dry for my taste without it.
The Banana fritter dessert (pictured above) was YUMMMY!!! They used 1 and-a-half or 2 whole bananas in it! Big enough to share - and we did!
A nice addition to the neighborhood. -

I've never eaten here besides guac and chips at the bar, which are fantastic. I haven't eaten here because the service in the restaurant area is so bad. There's always confusion about seating and who is helping you and whatever. I'd rather sit at the bar with one of the two friendly and nice bartenders. They treat me like a regular even though I'm a semi-regular.
Also, delicious margaritas. -

Brooklyn, NY
Relaxed, cozy Mexican place near the B/Q stop (Lincoln Rd exit) at Prospect Park. Surprisingly good food, because the place kind of looks like a hopped-up neighborhood bar* -- but they had this fantastic pecan-crusted trout, and mussels in garlic to die for, and the margarita wasn't bad either. I don't know if pecan-crusted trout is traditional Mexican, but it sure was good. Prices are OK too -- the two dishes I mentioned were about $15 each. My only complaint is about the appearance of the place, but that's actually a good thing -- the longer this looks like just some generic neighborhood joint, the longer it'll remain a local secret. (Uh, unless this review "outs" it.)
*It looks better in the summertime, when they put out tables and chairs on the sidewalk. -

Update: We went again, for dinner this time, and had a great meal. Although, that might be the $32 pitcher of margaritas talking. The menu doesn't really list it as $32....so we were surprised when the bill came.
Watch out for that.

Awesome nachos, calamari, yucca fries, guacamole, and my favorite.. the red sangria. I'm a happy camper.
We get the guacamole for take out.. and it's hit or miss.. sometimes its really spicy and others it doesn't taste like it has jalapeno in it at all.. also.. sometimes it's not as fresh as others(the guac is a little brown).
Otherwise, I think it's delicious.. and I'm originally from California..so this is where I would go for Mexican. Plus, I live in the neighborhood so that's a plus too. -

Brooklyn, NY
My bf and I eat here at least once a week - no joke. Granted, it's about the only option we have at PLG, but I would eat here regardless.
The food and drinks are solid - my favs: nachos, guac, **butternut squash tacos** (although it doesn't compare to the one it replaced from the previous menu), the coleslaw that comes with the tacos, cheese enchiladas, and the pomegranate margarita. I would say that I'm not a fan of pulled pork or shredded beef in general so I usually stay away from the meat options.
We've never really had any problems with the service, but usually we get the same waitress every time- the redhead with the glasses- and she's always good.
To top it off, you can't have good tex-mex without the perfect hot sauce to go with it. Try the green hot sauce- if you dare. Seriously, it's probably the best hot sauce I've had (and I've had many) and we can't find it anywhere else! We've actually gone online to try and find it. But be forewarned: one drop goes a long way... ENJOY! -

I was going to give Enduro four stars, and then realized I was doing that because they're now the only good option for a sit-down meal near the Prospect Park B/Q station.
Their food is decent, and I always enjoy it. The nachos are delicious and filling, and I usually get either the enchiladas or quesadillas and both are pretty tasty. Service can be a little slow (probably because it's usually packed, especially now that Fly Fish/Whiskey Sunday/whatever closed for good), but since our server is always friendly, it doesn't bother me too much.
What does irritate me about Enduro, however, is the fact that you have to pay extra - to the tune of about $5 - for chips and salsa, and that you don't get rice with your enchiladas.
I'll keep going back because I like their nachos, though. And their cupcakes! The pecan pie one was a dream come true, and I don't even like cupcakes that much. -
Review from Kate G.
Café Enduro has good vibes and good food. I would not say that the food is exceptional, but it fit's the bill when I am hungry. The staff has always been friendly, at worst the waitresses are inattentive.
I agree with previous yelpers that the lack of chips is lame. -

Happy that there is a bar in the neighborhood, unhappy that it only seats about 12 and closes at 11PM. Last I looked this was NYC and not poughkeepsi.

I do appreciate the carafe of water, and that my margarita is usually delivered quickly.
Before the entrees have come out, sitting there enjoying my margarita, I have on several occasions unconsciously reached for a chip, only to remember that there are no chips.
Only to remember that there are no chips.
Look, give me 7 chips and an ounce of salsa when I first come in, and I'm still going to order the chicken tacos with guacamole. I seem to remember getting 3 the first time I came to Enduro, and now I only get 2. But who cares, they're probably my favorite thing there. Not Mextacular, but not too mal either. Thanks for bringing 4 hot sauces when I say i want hot sauce. I like that commitment to sauce.

This is my go-to spot in the hood.
There portions are very generous and the food is good. I usually order the green-chile pork burrito which is very filling and delicious. The "mariquitas" they place on top of the burrito remind me of home and I just loved the added crunch to every bite. Their guacamole is incredible - a must-order appetizer.
Brunch at Enduro is my favorite! I've had the French Toast, which are very good, but seem to always revert back to ordering the Tostada. Tostada is a full meal, almost good enough to last you the entire day, deliciously combined and plated. I take all of my out-of-town guests there before heading out for a long day of shopping in the city and it's consistently good. The $4 drink specials are an added bonus.
The staff while at times can be slow is always very, very attentive and sweet. I've been there numerous times and have never seen them rush anyone out and I feel they always go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. I absolutely love the setting and decor.
I highly recommend the sangria, both white and red, and of course, the margaritas: reasonably priced and delicious. -

decent. it's not the most amazing mexican i've ever had, but it's certainly one of the only restaurants in the neighborhood and i like going there. portions on things like the nachos are insane and the fajitas are pretty good - i ordered the steak once and was highly unimpressed with what i got for $16 - and the saddest little toothpicks of asparagus i've ever seen. good drinks, and mostly a decent deal for some decent food.

While the food at Enduro is nothing to write home about, this place is just oozing with good feelings! It's nice to have a decent sit-down restaurant in a neighborhood that sorely needs it. The bar is filled with friendly locals pretty much every night of the week.
Decent items on the menu include the skirt steak carne asada and maple glazed pork chop. The food's relatively mild (read: "bland") so be ready to add some additional bottled sauces, of which they have a large variety to choose from.
