Neighborhood: South Los AngelesThis ain't no Starbucks! This ain't no Coffee Bean!
This is a homey coffee bar near USC, where your cup of coffee is brewed to order and you are invited to sniff the beans before they are grinded.
Its run by a local character who puts together interesting Sunday afternoon musical performances with local psychedlic acts like Spindrift, The Stevenson Branch Dividians, and Eagle Winged Palace.
This is a great place. I just wanted to say thanks to the owner for letting me take my 8 severely handicapped students there for Italian sodas ( which he gave me a big discount on). Excellent coffee--and it's interesting to try a different type of bean every time--it's a coffee learning experience.
When was the last time you had a cup of coffee freshly ground in front of you, brewed by one of the most high tech machines around, and handed over to you by a guy who knows his coffee? Because for me, it was today. And it was delicious.
Caf Corsa is one of the few places in Los Angeles where you can experience the Clover coffee machine in action. And, it's probably the least pretentious. From what I understand the coffee is brewed the opposite way of using a French press, with some kind of vacuum action.
Tucked away in an odd little strip mall, you won't find many frills. What you will find is the owner behind the coffee bar who will remember you name and how you take your coffee, and offer you suggestions. I think the coffee beans change often, and they're always fair trade.
If you don't like coffee, try some and see. If you still don't like coffee, Caf Corsa also has the complete line of Lindsay's Teas. If you stay to drink your beverage, you'll even get to drink it out of a real ceramic cup.
