On Saturday, September 5, 2009, around noon time, my tongue was fortunate enough to swap juices with the best quiche in the world. I've written a haiku to express my feelings:

A quiche with spinach:
I'll never taste you again.
Always in my heart.

In spite of our short time spent together, I completely fell in love with this quiche. It felt as if I had met a lover in a foreign country and I had forgotten to demand that he add me on Facebook. But rather than attempting to search for him, I will cherish the fond memories of every sensation we've shared together; and these fond memories will forever be imprinted in my heart.

We had a delightful Sunday brunch here before visiting Pike's Place Market and leaving Seattle. It's a quaint (read: fairly small) restaurant with a nice patio that we were able to enjoy the fall sunshine on while sipping our "big mug" lattes and waiting for our food.

I had the brioche French toast --- so good my mouth is watering at the memory, with a side of chicken sausage. I am a big fan of the French toast, not so much of the sausage. I also sampled the Oeufs en meurette a few others at my table had, which came with a side of frites served with a delicious aioli. I actually think this was better than the French toast, so if you come, definitely order this!

The service was acceptable. My one complaint is that they couldn't seat our party of 8 together, so we sat separately in groups of 4. Normally this wouldn't be anything but a slight inconvenience, but they still charged us like we were a group of 8 when it came to the tip. We weren't even sitting together!

Cafe Campagne is as close to Paris as you will get in Seattle.   Very fun.  Classic dishes but also dishes with a bit of a spin to them -- you can get the classics such as escargots, duck confit, etc. but you don't feel like you're going to some sort of food museum.  Also it's quite lively enough.  The tables are spaced close enough to feel energetic without being too close.  For brunch I had the poached eggs on garlic croutons with red wine and foie gras sauce, which was insanely good.  I have been for dinner many times, often having the duck confit.  Tres tres bien my friends.  Probably my favorite restaurant in Seattle but far from the most expensive.

Cafe C. is affiliated with regular Campagne upstairs which is more formal.  I like the liveliness of the cafe.

Cafe Campagne...oh how I wish you were closer to San Francisco!

We originally had reservations for Campagne but at the last minute we decided to go to Cafe Campagne.  It was Halloween nite but since it was early we were able to get in with no reservations.

I  just love this place! Rustic French as one of my friends called it!  Myself and 2 others started with the wine list ( we had drinks earlier at Cutters down the street) and the server offered to get the sommelier for us which was very helpful.  We decided on a reasonably priced viognier.  For the appetizers, we enjoy the beet salad with roquefort  cheese and the escargots!  I used the freshly baked bread to devour the parsley-garlic sauce that the escargots were bathing in.  For the entrees, one had the mussels and two of us had the cassoulet!  Probably one of the best  cassoulets I've had...very rich and very delicious and very generous- both of us took back leftovers.  We were so full we had to skip the wonderful desserts!

We had a fantastic meal at Cafe Campagne! Every bite was savour-worthy, the service was perfect, wine list was great!  Great location!  We'll be back whenever we are in town!

Absolutely one of my favorite brunch spots downtown.  My wife and I love to sit at the bar, sip on a kir soleil or a bloody mary, and spend a while just hanging out and enjoying the great food.  Cafe Campagne also has hands-down the most friendly, fun, and attentive wait staff in the city.

if you're a francophile, then this is the place for you. if you're not, then this is still the place for you. Great food, looks like a cafe right off a Parisian sidewalk, and there's just something about this place that makes you want to linger. I love going here for brunch or lunch on a Saturday, ordering a pan bagnat or lamb burger, and indulging in possibly the best frites in the city. Bf swears by their croque-madame. Runny eggs aren't my bag, but the way he eats it with unapologetic gusto has made a believer out of me.
Cafe Campagne has a lot of heart and soul. It's casual but romantic, quaint but elegant, and simple but extraordinary. Unlike many wannabes in Seattle, they do French bistro here effortlessly.

Spending 8 days in our favourite city of Seattle allotted us enough time to enjoy Cafe Campagne not once, but twice. Now this wasn't exactly planned, but after our first mind blowing brunch my boyfriend insisted we go back the next day. I very eagerly acquiesced.

So what brought us back? For myself it was the French toast. Mouth watering brioche fried in their yummy bourbon batter, served with maple syrup. Couple that with a mimosa and serve it to me daily please. The boy enjoyed the French omelette made with chevre served with chicken and pork sausage. I can vouch for this sausage, it's bloody good.

The French music and decor and even the French looking waitress (and waiter the next day!), along with seriously delicious French food created a memorable experience. Twice!

Ohhhh Cafe Campagne.  I always see you when I'm at the market and I always just pass you by.
But not this time, my dear, not this time.

We sat at the bar and were, at first, just going to drink water and/or coffee, but then we realized what we were sitting next to (were you girls on a field trip to the big city from Bellevue or something?), so we decided to order up some bloody marys.  Basically, after hearing "so like, the Abercrombie boy - like, are you guys like, going out?" I needed a drink...STAT.

I'm in love w/ all of the croque dishes - their only downfall being they all come w/ ham.  HOWEVER, they were gracious enough to not include porky pig in my breakfast, for which I am v. grateful.  Their quiche is ridiculously light and yummy.  The bloody marys were good.  I was full & fat when I left.

And the servers - oh thank you thank you for humouring me.  When I heard one of them say "I'm getting dumber through osmosis" after listening to the girls next to me talking, I knew we'd get along juuuuust fine.  :)

I have had nearly everything on their menu (brunch and dinner), and most of it is delicious--the rest is just personal taste.  It pushes the limit on price for quality, but the food is still worth it and comes in good portions.  The wine list is particularly pricey, but it has a lot of stuff imported from France (and I looove French wine).  You can pick one of the cheaper wines and still get something good.

A caveat on the 5-star rating:  you can find better restaurants, but for the price and convenience, this place is still among the top of its class.  Decor reminds me of a charming French bistro without being too cheesy or touristy, and the flowers and prix-fixe change on a monthly basis.

The omelette is a good choice for the hungry brunch-goer as it comes with great bread (from Le Panier) and house-made sausage (if only they sold it in stores...).  I usually get the Croque Madame and steal the sausage from my girlfriend's plate.  Get plain old coffee (Cafe Luna roast from Cafe Vita) or hot chocolate--both the best I've had.  The French toast melts in your mouth.

For dinner, I've had better steak frites elsewhere, but they do a decent job.  The escargot are great, but I still have yet to find a place in the US that serves them in the shells.  When it comes to dessert, try the special.  It's usually seasonal and has never failed me.

The atmosphere here was awesome. Excellent date spot. The service is absolutely great. I love it when wait staff is straighforward when you ask for recommendations. Love it.

The prix fixe menu was definitely worth it. Had the cucumber gazpacho, duck with polenta, and blanced peaches with ice cream for dessert. We also shared some escargot and the beet salad along with 2 glasses of wine.

1. Escargot - buttery richness as expected. Not the best escargot I've ever had, but not too bad either.
2. Beet salad - the Roquefort cheese was the best part of the salad. Just melted in your mouth. Beets were mild and had a great texture. Fresh and light.
3. Gazpacho - fresh and crisp but something was lacking...can't figure out what.
4. Duck - delicious with some orangy glaze on it. The fat was succulent. The polenta was rich and flavorful. Loved the tomato as well.
5. Dessert - very nice. I love blanched fruit. Wow.

Definitely worth a go if you've never been. I'm looking forward to trying some other dishes on the menu next time.

Back again, we were the first customers of the day!

This time I tried the Croque Savoyard, which is a grilled ham sandwich topped with a sinful amount of melted Gruyère and tomato slices. Ooh, I felt so guilty after eating half, so I saved the other half to devour later--in private.

My partner-in-crime had the Burger D'Agneau (lamb burger), which she enjoyed immensely. I had a few bites and it was really flavorful (I gotta get that next time)! The frites and garlic aioli it came with were awesome as well.

Service was awesome, great lunch!

We went here for brunch on Sunday since we were totally out of anything to eat at home... En route to Baccos we saw this place and decided to try it. I ordered the Croque Madame... and I loved it!! It was sinful, cheesy, buttery and rich... i couldn't finish all of it so I packed some of it to take home. Mu husband got the lamb burger with fries which was also great...
the service was outstanding and if I closed my ears I could almost feel like I was in Paris.. was a bit pricier than usual brunch spots but well worth the $40 we paid.

service, great.  food, fine, but will have to go back for a fair share of the cuisine.  escargot a bit underseasoned for my taste.

i did however, meet 'oyster bill' of taylor shellfish farms for their oyster party that night.   i thought i loved oysters but DAMN!  i met the shigoku and it was all over.  the sweetest, most heavenly and savory little gems from the ocean i have ever slurped.

thank you cafe campagne for having that oyster fest - and bringing in oyster bill special that night!

We were lucky to get a last minute reservation for 8 people on a Saturday afternoon.  They originally planned on splitting us into 2 tables of 4 when we called, but we were happily surprised that they were able to accommodate all of us together in the end.

We started with some freshly squeezed juices, sparkling wine, and bloody mary's.  The bloody mary isn't as tomato-ish as a traditional one, and it's not as thick.  There's a pretty nice wine selection available, too.

Everyone at our table ordered the same things.  The quiche of the day was spinach and gruyere - it was perfectly fluffy and light, yet really creamy and flavorful.  The crust wasn't overly buttery and didn't overpower the light egg.

The poached eggs on garlic croutons with red wine and foie gras sauce was pretty amazing.  It's rich but not too heavy, and the sauce was so smooth and flavorful - perfect for dipping the accompanying frites.  The garlic crouton was a bit too buttery for me, but otherwise, it was a great dish.

The croque madame was also perfectly crusty.  The cheese and ham ratio was perfect, and the meat was nice and lean.

The decor inside is simple and cute, and it reminds me a lot of Chez Panisse in Berkeley.  Having just come back from Paris, I didn't expect to enjoy the food as much as I did.  It ended up being the perfect brunch for us, and everything we ordered was executed well.

After we were let out of a show at the Moore, we went to Cafe Campagne for an evening drink/dessert thingie. What wound up happening was that we had a bunch of water (sitting in the hot hot hot Moore made us extremely dehydrated) and shared 2 desserts (fruit tart and chocolate terrine) and 2 appetizers (my favoritest pate and a 2 cheeses).

Our server was pretty cool and patient with our questions about "what does this mean, how do you say this?" and he was also non-rushed which was great, considering we came in after 10pm.

Everything was tasty, but I think the chocolate terrine was the winner of the night. It was incredibly smooth, silky, and just chocolatey-rich enough. My much-adored pate was still very excellent and we received a timely bread refill. The fruit tart with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and was the right amount of fruit and spongey/crisp tart. The cheese which came with apple slices was just okay, we probably could have done without it.

We sat outside near the alley and saw all sorts of interesting people walk through. :) It's definitely a different experience coming here near closing than during their bustling brunch. Thanks again!

My fiance and I had a poor experience the first time we visited Cafe Campagne due to a hostess who was less than welcoming. However, I was very pleased with how the manager handled the situation when I called to share my experience.

Based on the positive reviews the restaurant has received (both on Yelp and from my friends) and the response from the manager, we'll give Cafe Campagne another try. Hostess notwithstanding, the food and service were both excellent. And there's great people-watching from the patio. During our happy hour there, we saw actress Minka Kelly, a tired-looking balloon man and a lady with a crow on her shoulder walk through Post Alley. Entertainment!

Went here for breakfast on a Saturday morning.  At 10:00am it was pretty busy so we had about a 10 min wait for a table. No biggie, we will just salivate over the menu while we wait.
Once seated we ordered coffee and a mimosa for me - good start!
Then we ordered the Oeufs en meurette (poached eggs on garlic toast with a red wine foie gras sauce), super decadent and incredibly good.  As well as Omelette choisy (omelette with herbs, chevre & escarole), perfectly cooked eggs with smooth chevre inside, very good.  This dish was served with a very flavorful chicken & pork sausage.  It was also accompanied with a split piece of french bread with butter & jam.
Wonderful food, good atmosphere, attentive service.   Perfect experience, can't wait to go back!

Went for lunch and had the lamb burger.

Lamb was juicy and full of flavor, but it was largely absorbed by the thick bun.  The bread was fantastic, but there was so much of it that the flavors of the lamb, onions and peppers really had trouble standing out.  By the end of the burger the flavors finally started playing off each other nicely.

The fries are some of the best I've ever had.  Perfection.

Service was adroit and friendly.

I've been looking forward to Cafe Campagne based on all the high reviews. It's convenient and supposed to have great food and decor.

I finally went for Sunday brunch. It was great that we were seated immediately, but it took forever for our server to even acknowledge us. We ordered a baguette with honey and jam to start, lattes, french toast, and quiche.

10:45 - we were seated
11:00 - we place our order
11:15 - our lattes arrived
11:45 - we're wondering where our food is. Can't they at least bring out our baguette?
12:05 - we finally got our food. French toast was mediocre, quiche was good with a very flaky crust, and baguette was cold. Seriously, they could have brought out our baguette earlier, especially if they weren't baking it fresh.

Conclusion: food is overall average and quite expensive for what it is. I think I'll stick with La Panier for my french breakfasts.

Adorable atmosphere and a nice location. Very good service. Server was so helpful, answered all our questions, was friendly without being too chatty. Wine menu was a little pricey, but he helped us pick out a very good Bordeaux that was in our price range; he was very subtle about guiding us to the right price, which I really appreciated.

FABULOUS steak tartare, though I got it without capers because I detest them. I thought the calamari would be too lemony, but it was wonderful, and my bf couldn't stop soaking up the sauce. Bucherondin salad was delicious, definitely order it. Would definitely come back and recommend.

I have said it before but this is probably one of my top three restuarants in Seattle.  I went here for my graduation celebration dinner and I go here for my birthday every year because I love it so much.  The service, ambiance, and food is fantastic.  I brought a family friend here who was in town for the evening.  We started with rose champagne and white wine off of the HH menu.  By the end of the meal we each had ordered 3 - 3 oz. tastes of wine at about $3 a piece!!  What a great deal for drinks.  For a starter  we ordered the pate...fantastic!  I nice slice of pate with olives, cornishons and a couple of choices of mustard.  And when you spread it on their fabulous bread...you get the picture.  I had the lamb burger avec frites which I had yet to try here.  So good.  Lamb was cooked perfectly and the condiments on the burger; aioli, roasted red peppers and some greens were simple and good.  And of course the frites dipped in ketchup or garlic aioli.  They have some of the best fries in the city.  My companion ordered the steak frites which I told her is fantastic and she loved it.

This place just has it down.  They know what they are doing and it shows.  Thanks for another wonderful dinner!

Boredom with a mixture of exasperation over took me. Not wanting to be at home on a Sunday evening, I decided to take a stroll and have a pleasant dinner. Thus finding myself going through the clandestine spots of Pike Marketplace.

Cafe Campagne was utterly appealing. It seemed to echo an invite inside. So I entered to congenial staff. They seemed to gain virtue as I was seated. The decor was wood furniture with glasses and wine. The place was enhanced by lots of lights, lamps and windows. An open, airy and clean bistro with gaiety music.

The wine list was a sinful menu by the glass, half bottles and bottles. I opted for a couple of glasses to match my food choices versus half bottle. This seemed like the only way to unite my soul to accept pure gratification (non-sexual).

And here is the meal that I wandered into;
Table bread with butter
Château de la Roche, Sauvingon Blanc
Puy Lentil simmered in vegetable stock with butter
Bieler Rose Sabine
Steak Frites well-done with garlic sauteed greens, Roquefort & ketchup
Coffee

Cafe Campagne has an excellent dessert selection, however, I was pretty content without the added indulgence. It was a simple and serious meal with explosive flavors.

Every thing adds up, but it's less expensive than the restaurant. And still distinctive. Also keep in mind, once there is no reason for me to comment about acrobatic snails being consumed in close vicinity, Cafe Campagne might actually see me again.

Cheers!

Enjoyed Campagne's little sibling yesterday for my birthday choice (Monday's do not offer great selection but Cafe Campagne is a fabulous offering if one must "settle") and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Service (Alexandra) was prompt, courteous, helpful, patient, and a nice combo of professional/friendly.

The wine list is great but needs to be kept up to date - my selection turned out to be a much newer vintage than on the list. I ended up going with an Andrew Will half-bottle which was really nice to see on a wine list! An expensive wine that was priced as expected on the menu.

The half-chicken is completely worth the 30 minute wait and I didn't notice the time at all - the table was never empty! The restaurant split each dish my wife and I ordered without being asked - an extremely nice touch, and very much appreciated. The salad was divine, the bread and butter were tasty, and the atmosphere just what a closet-Frenchie loves.

Definitely a great choice for a semi-casual birthday dinner of wonderful cuisine!

Came here for dinner a few weeks ago.  We had reservations and didn't have to wait.  The hostess was friendly and promptly seated us.

Our food was on the okay side.  The steak frites cooked medium rare tasted fine- a bit on the tough side but probably from the cut of meat rather than how it was cooked.  The frites were yummy.  We enjoyed the cheese platter.  The duck was very tasty as well.

We had soup and the waitress forgot to give me a spoon.  When my boyfriend called for her (just a simple "excuse me, miss") she got a little snappy and yelled "I heard you, I'm coming!"  We were both a bit shocked.  She finally came over to ask us what we wanted but looked very irritated.

This ruined the mood for us as this was suppose to be a romantic night out.  I felt a bit on tip toes around our waitress who seemed very irritated with us.  There really wasn't anything else we asked for except the spoon.

I definitely wouldn't recommend this restaurant based on the experience.  The food was only so-so for the price.  There are many other restaurants that can provide great service with better food.

Lovely location in Post Alley, near the Pike Place market. Interior is classic and refined. I thoroughly enjoyed the wait staffs' uniforms of well-fitted black pants, white shirts and vests. Very fine!

I had the French French toast, which was delicious and my date had a scrumptious meal as well. Our waitress was pleasant to speak with and quite amiable :). I really enjoyed our late after-Sounders-game brunch! Should like to try their dinner menu some time!

Great atmosphere.
Delicious menu.
Consistent quality.
Good service (generally).

All around delightful.

Pointer to host: The time to seat guests at a shitty two-top in the corner by a wait station, an emergency exit and a couple with an infant is when there are no other tables left in the room, not when the place is empty. I don't care whose station you're trying to fill.

I love the European Bistro atmosphere of Cafe Campagne. I know when I go there I'm going to have a really good meal. This time both my lunch companion and I had the quiche. It was perfection: perfectly seasoned, perfect creamy filling and the best crust ever. Yeah...I'm sure it was a million calories but it was so worth it. Its a good thing its a 20 minute walk from my office or I might be tempted to go there more often.

I have a new appreciation (and craving!) for french food after lunching at Cafe Campagne. I ate up the Croque-monsieur (Parisian ham and Gruyère on pain de mie with a green salad ). It was delectable & super filling. Cheesy goodness that paired so well with a nice glass of wine. My man had the Croque-madame (same as mine but with a fried egg on top).

Next time you're in the Pike Place area definitely check out this place. *An extra bonus on a sunny day is you can sit outside and watch the foot traffic from the alley. Good times.

Went here last night for a late Tuesday dinner in what seems to be early fall in seattle. Service was exceptional; the hostess was with us in moments, and the server was gracious and at the table whenever it seemed we needed her. The food was excellent. I had a smoky pureed yellow tomato soup, which had a richness and depth that was completely unexpected. I also had the boucheron de chevre salad; the goat cheese was perfectly baked, which paired nicely with the greens and fennel, dressed lightly enough to appreciate both the dressing and the greens. I never have to ask the people here for light dressing; to date, they've never been heavy handed with their dressings/sauces. Likewise, boyfriend had the burger, was reticent about the garlic aioli, but loved it when it came out. It was more subtle than he anticipated. I love this restaurant.

We always stop by here for brunch on the weekends whenever we're in Seattle.  It's reminiscent of a typical French café and depending on when you go you'll find a very eclectic mix of clientele.  It gets very, very busy on the weekends so get there early, otherwise, you'll be in for a long wait.

On our last brunch visit, I had the poached eggs which consisted of two poached eggs served on garlic croutons (i.e. thick toast) with pearl onions and bacon bits in a red wine and foie gras sauce served with pommes frites.  The eggs were poached properly, not too firm, not too runny; the sauce had a nice tangy bite to it; and the pommes frites (french fries to us regular folk) were just outstanding.  Ask for the garlic aioli dipping sauce.

The Mrs. had the French toast which looked like it was made from Brioche bread with a light coating with an assortment of fresh fruit (blueberries, strawberries and melon) and a pat of butter.  I tried a couple bites and it wasn't the best French toast ever, but it was very good.

Service during brunch was attentive without being overbearing, and my coffee was always refilled without having to ask.

We also stopped by one day in the late afternoon, for happy hour cocktails and the service was disappointing.  They gave our order to another table who arrived after we did, so it took about 15-20 minutes before we actually got our appetizers.  Additionally, they cleared our empty wine glasses, but never actually asked if we wanted another glass.  That's why I yanked a star off the rating.

This place is really cool. We came here Saturday for lunch and I was already impressed with the space. Reminded me of a fancy French cafe, though I have never been in a real French cafe, I would imagine this is what it would be like. I ordered the lamb burger and it was damn good. It came with an aioli sauce and some marinated onion that really gave the burger flavor. The fries were fantastic too. Reminded me of the fries my grandma used to make. Lunch is a little pricey, but you really get what you pay for here. Great food, great company, great time.

Hehehehehe hehehehehe ~ I don't even remember what we talked about. Oh wait. We've debated who was at fault for a certain woman's demise. But that's not funny, is it?

The brunch reservation was set up online. It was easy and there were no problems. The cafe is visible on Pine, but its entrance and outdoor seating is on Post Alley where cute little Vespas faithfully await their owners' return. It was cool out, so outdoor seating would mean cold food and latte. Everyone dined inside.

The Cassoulet (a southwest French white bean stew with lamb, pork, duck confit, and garlic sausage) looked really tempting. I was settled on ordering it, but at a second glance, I realized it was *ahem* $21. Ummm, I'll have the quiche du jour with green salad s'il vous plait. The onions are already baked in, so I planned on picking them out, but I didn't have to do that. There wasn't any acidity, so the onion flavor was not intrusive. My latte was as big as a bowl of soup. hehe. Apparently, I've ordered more than I can gulp.

This is a nice, lively location. The experience and meal was pleasant. I would do it again.

Psss... A little too expensive for what it is.

The atmosphere is ok, the food is ok but not memorable, (good but expensive), and the place is in what looks like an alley.

I will save my money.

Menu looked nice and the concierge told us it was the best place for brunch in the area.  We listed our name for a table last sunday, gave cell phone, and are still waiting to be called....

Lunch / Brunch

I expected a lot out of the food...maybe it was too fancy for me.

Excellent place for brunch!  We came here on a Sunday afternoon and it was packed so we ended up waiting about 25 minutes for a table.  They take reservations so definitely make them in advance if you know you're coming here.

We split the "oeufs en meurette" (poached eggs on garlic croutons with bacon bits and onions in a red wine sauce) and the daily quiche (cheese, roasted red pepper, and onion).  It was very busy and we had to wait a little for service and then for our food to come, but it was well worth it.  The eggs came in a very savory red wine sauce - and the "crouton" was very much like thick fried bread.  It also came with a giant basket of fries.  What's not to love?  I thought the quiche was even better with a flaky, buttery crust and a savory, rich, yet delicate filling.

Prices are a little expensive for brunch, but definitely worth it.  Especially compared to its sister restaurant next door!

Authentic and fresh French bread as hard as a rock? Check.
An exquisite wine list with the best whites I've had in awhile? Check.
Tarte tatin avec creme fraiche so delicious that I spilled caramel sauce on my shirt while devouring it? Check.

This is certainly not the restaurant for big groups, but it is the quintessential romantic spot for two. We first split a starter of Calamar a la Provencal -- a delightful dish of tiny, sauteed, wiggly creatures doused in a butter and garlic sauce (perfect for dipping with bread).

A salad for two? Don't mind if we do! Bucherondin de chevre was our  next choice, and arguably, my favorite dish of the night. Fresh, crisp greens tossed with a zesty scallion vinaigrette, but best of all was the delicious warm goat cheese on toast.

And finally, our split entree was Tartare du boeuf. This raw dish may not be for everyone -- it was referenced to as "beef sashimi" at one point in the evening -- but it was the perfect, light entree to complement the somewhat heavy sauce from the appetizer.

This restaurant makes me miss France. A Yelper in a review down below noted that Cafe Campagne apparently throws a raging Bastille Day party. I will be here come July 14. And according to the restaurant's website, as of 12/09 at 11:33pm PST, we only have 215 days, 14 hours, 49 minutes, and 04 seconds to go. Mark your calenders, mes amis!
