10 reviews for Cafe Camellia
I went here a REALLY long time ago, but just now, I was thinking about food (what else is new), and this place -- for some odd reason, popped into my head. I didn't even remember the name of the place. All I knew was that it was a French place in Bellflower. So, I decided to Yelp it and found it.
I wanted to Yelp it because when I ate there a long time ago, it was really good. I remember liking it - but seriously though, that was like 10+ years ago =X haha. So, I'd like to try it again. If I eat there again, I'll be sure to update my review. :)

Arguably The Best Restaurant in Bellflower
This is truly a hidden gem.
Cafe Camelia serves french/euro fusion cuisine. Its tucked in downtown Bellflower right off the 91 freeway. Elmer dill on ABC 7 news said he enjoys this restaurant in an article I read and an old co worker recommended it.
I was interested so I decided to come by and I am so glad I did. They have french dishes for only 18-25 dollars yet most places charge like 40-50 bucks for the same dish.
You MUST order the Chilean Sea Bass with Spicy Chili Cream sauce, it comes with a potato souffle and grilled vegetables.
It is one of the best fish dishes I have ever tasted! Their spicy prawns in chili sauce appetizer is great, too!!
But the best part of Cafe Camelia are the desserts.
Have you ever been to Zov's Bistro in Tustin? They are known for having rich, decadent and sweet pastries and Cafe Camelias desserts remind me a LOT of Zov's
You must order their creme brulee and flourless chocolate cake, but the BEST dish for dessert here is the Raspberry Chocolate Cake.
Its a chocolate coated roasted almond layer with chocolate cake, rasperry sauce, chocolate mouse, fresh berries and whipped cream! ITS SOO GOOD!!
I have tried other dishes from here and some have been soso but out of all the dishes I have listed in this review are the best of the best. I am giving this place 5 stars or "woohoo as good as it gets!" because seriously, there are places in LA that charge 3 times the amount for a dinner thats not nearly as good as this place.
Now I know why Elmer Dill loves this place.

Definitely a hidden treasure in Bellflower, CA.
Great food, service, and ambiance.
Perfect for special occasions or a special date!!
Delicious food!!!
If you're ever in the area, be sure to stop by this place!!
I guess Bellflower ain't so bad.
I would have never consider dining in Bellflower on my time, but on lunch break with my boss...why not?
Boss lady wanted to take me and another co-worker to lunch. Only problem is we work in Downey, and good restaurants are lacking in Downey (do you her that, Downey Chamber of Commerce?). So after racking our brains, someone came up with Cafe Camellia's. I've always heard about people going there, and about how good it is.
So this Cafe is not too small, but its not too large. They have a FULL bar, but no, no, no, must refrain from the libations, work-folk in the building.
I ordered the Curry chicken breast with basil and tomatoes. Mmmmm. It was great. The scalloped potatoes, eh. They may have been made the day previous, then re-heated. I would have rather had a baked potato (so I could have laced it with hella butter!).
Service was attentive and prompt.
Nice little gem in Bellflower of all places.
Will be returning to make sure the bar is fully functioning *wink*

Okay seriously, who would have thunk that BELLFLOWER of all places had cute little restaurants? I live here and it's ghetto to the max, so I have to flee the city to get good food.
Cafe Camellia was recommended by a friend, so boytoy and I went over for a nice, intimate meal. The restaurant is small, and you definitely may miss it during the evenings since the sign isn't lit or anything. But on this Thursday night, only two other couples were there and it was nice and quiet. The bread they served beforehand was just plain french bread, but man was it good.
Boy got the New York steak and I got the stuffed chicken breast. The steak was amazing and I kind of wish I could have tried that or the filet mignon. My chicken breast had prawns (I know, weird right?), feta cheese, and spinach, which in writing looked pretty good to me, but once I had the thing in my mouth, I felt betrayed. Plus they only gave me like four measly pieces, so I wouldn't recommend that dish for anyone.
I plan to go back and try something different, and aside from my disappointing dish, everything else was pretty dang nice. Service was excellent (why wouldn't it be in a nearly-empty restaurant anyway?), bread was fluffy and warm (I am a BIG bread person), and environment was just cozy. I wish they had some music playing, because it got awkwardly silent at times and I felt embarrassed because I have a loud voice and I felt like everyone was listening to me. :*(
But yay to finding a new restaurant in the ghettos of B-flower!

This Cafe is located right in the middle of a not so great neighboorhood. In fact their parking lot faces a not so great apartment building. Makes me actually afraid to leave my car for too long.
The service staff is attentive. the wine list is okay - I'm usually happy with the house Chardonnay or Cabernet.
Food portions are not huge but come very well prepared. It's a small place, so great for intimate dining. And of course the creame brulee was really good.
I would return again. I believe they also have a tasting menu or a prix fixe one.

It was a pleasure to finally try Cafe Camellia, the older sister of Arte Cafe (http://www.yelp.com/bi...). I learned about Camellia from being a somewhat frequent diner at Arte during my tenure in Cerritos. Camellia is chef Richard's original endeavor and has been around about 10 years. The menus are similar; to me Camellia has more of a French twist than Arte, but a few pastas and Asian fusion dishes such as those found at Arte can also be found on Camellia's menu. Camellia is considerably smaller and cozier than Arte and doesn't have Arte's sushi bar or ourdoor seating; despite the similarities, it is clearly a different restaurant with a different feel.
Arte used to feel like a hidden gem, until I started working in Cerritos and ended up there all the time; besides, the Cerritos Towne Center is hardly hidden. Camellia, though, definitely has that feel of a secret discovery, especially since it's a little hard to find. If you're driving north on Bellflower Blvd. north of the 91, it's on the right hand side next to an auto sound place, but the sign is obscured by a tree; it's easier to see while driving southbound on Bellflower. It's between Walnut and Maple on the east side of the street.
It's cozy and elegant on the inside, and we enjoyed how nice and quiet it was on a Monday night. We got exemplary service throughout the evening.
The wine list was quite nice, though we brought our own and paid a reasonable corkage.
Since when we go to Arte we usually get more of the Asian fusion dishes, we decided to try some of the more French dishes at Camellia. We started out with some escargot in a philo pastry cup, which was great, because the pastry soaked up some of that yummy garlic butter sauce. We followed this with a combo plate of duck liver pate and smoked salmon. The presentation was lovely, and the pate was smooth and creamy, served with two kinds of mustard, and the smoked salmon was pretty decent, served with capers and cream cheese. When we ran out of toast tips, our server noticed and brought us some more.
Soup and salad came with our entrees, so I got the soup du jour, a cream of roasted red bell pepper, and Vince got the house salad. The entrees were very reasonably priced, especially considering they weren't a la carte. I got a lamb loin with fig, honey, cinnamon, and mint, and Vince got a filet mignon with lobster. The food was quite good, but by the entree I was so full I couldn't really appreciate it. I did enjoy the leftovers, though.
Overall a very pleasant dinner and very reasonably priced. We had a very good experience, so I'm sure we'll be back. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes Arte Cafe or who is looking for fine dining options in or near Bellflower.

They have great soups! I love soup... The decor is dated and the area is a little run down. Their food is consistently good. The desserts are really enjoyable too.
I've been here once and I can say that the for the price, it's really damn fancy. It's definitely easy to miss but if you do see it it's really worth going.
small place. really really good for a nice and quiet date.
the servers are very nice and fast.
the food is very very good as well
i asked wats good on the menu and the waiter said everything was good.
i didnt exactly believe him but after trying many different things, i havnt been let down yet
great place to go
