I wanted to update my review because I just tried a NEW TYPE OF CAFE BRAVO ORDERING! Catering! Yeah. Um, for $10 a person, you get (for each person) 1 skewer luleh kabob (that's the one w/the ground meat), 1 skewer of half chicken half beef, green salad, choice of two sides (we got yogurt and ikra), pita bread, and barbecued tomatoes and pepper.
ARE YOU EFFIN KIDDING ME?
We ordered from here for my husband's bday, and they even delivered for free. I'm just sayin... that's less than I would have spent on groceries... and it's all going to be delivered. For free.

Review from Rob P.
Great little Mediterranean restaurant serving up tasty food. I had heard a lot of good things about Cafe Bravo... one of them being some pretty long lines during lunch. I headed out there early and I'm glad I did as the food is great and a pretty long line started forming behind me.
I ordered the Chicken Kabob Plate (4 out of 5). It comes with 1 Kabob over rice with your choice of two sides. I chose hummus and yogurt with spinach. The chicken kabob was really really tasty! It was juicy and flavorful and almost didn't need the (optional 50 cent) garlic sauce. It was a step or two under Mini Kabob's....but still really really good. The yogurt with spinach was tasty...people raved about it in other reviews and I liked it as well. The hummus, however, I found a bit of a disappointment. It just wasn't my cup of tea... there was something that was just a little off with it. It wasn't bad, by any means, I just didn't personally like it all that much. Price-wise, the meal was $6.75 + .50 for the garlic sauce. If you're looking for a budget (and smaller portioned) lunch than this is a great option for you. I personally found the portion size (while ok in line with the cost), a little on the small side. Next time, if I were to go back I'd probably want an additional kabob ($2.20) and at least another piece of pita bread (as the meal only comes with 1).
Overall, the food still makes it one of the better Mediterranean joints in the area and I look forward to digging deeper into the menu. -
Review from Khathy H.
I cried when I came to Cafe Bravo for the first time in my life. It was after I ordered, but before I got my huge plate. Are you following? It was because the kitchen was in the process of cutting up a bunch of raw onions. Our conversation about religion wasn't THAT scintillating! Crying took up a good 20 minutes, but at least I got to see my boyfriend cry for the first time???
In terms of the food, we got two plates: chicken and beef shish kabob. You get 2 sides for each plate so we got: Hummus and more Hummus, Tabbouleh, and Pasta Salad. So there are options depending on how comfortable you are with new or familiar tastes. I'd definitely recommend that you get extra garlic sauce (extra $0.50) because it goes amazingly great with the meat and basmati rice. It's too bad I gave away my leftovers because that would have lasted me at least two more meals!
I hear CB now offers catering and their very own food truck. I won't have to drive all the way to Glendale anymore, yay! ..and neither will you to try out this little place recommended by the locals. This is great since CB is so popular that you'd probably have to find street parking to eat here. Let me know how your experience goes! -

Another Brick and Mortar starting a food truck. I came to the brick and mortar since i was in the area and ordered the chicken shawarma wrap.
The wrap was broken up into two pita's, the size of a big taco. It was messy, and i feel it wasn't worth the mess. The taste was just ok. I would prefer the Shawarma wrap to be in laffe, it is thicker and bigger piece of bread
I hope they do something a little different to compete in the food truck world, if not i don't see them lasting -

Glendale, CA
I love this place!!! My fiance and I eat here often. Their beef and chicken lule are awesome!! And it is so cheap!! well, it used to be way cheaper but still pretty cheap enough for us.
Pros: excellent meat! fresh and always perfectly grilled. side dishes are always super yummy! Best middle eastern food in my neighborhood!!
Cons: If it wasn't for the food being so delicious, I would not go here. This place is so crowded during lunch and dinner. It's on a very busy street so very noisy. You have a choice of sitting outside but I suggest you don't unless you wanna eat dust with your food. Food portions are a bit tiny, especially the side dishes. On a lucky day you get a little more but most of the time it's not enough for me. Service sucks here.
Honestly, I am always happy when I eat here. So, the pros of delicious food still prevails over sucky service and small portions! -

Excellent food, good customer service and quick meal preparation. Quality across the board. Only drawbacks are the small location and cramped parking.

I can best describe this place as serving average quality Middle Eastern food at reasonable prices. Can you find much better kabob restaurants around? Yes, but you will probably end up paying more. Therefore I accept this place for what it is, entry level, fast food kabob joint.
On this trip I ordered the chicken breast, pork, and shawarma plates, as well as a lamb sandwich. I really enjoyed the lamb sandwich as the meat was soft and delicious. The chicken dish was acceptable, however, I would definitely skip the pork since it was clearly undercooked to the point of raw. As far as the shawarma, it was so-so, so definitely go to Zankou a few blocks away for that.
In closing, I will likely return only to order lamb and chicken sandwiches. Overall, This place is a solid 3 star establishment solely for having some good offerings and reasonable prices. -
Review from Alexandra R.
Bay Area
One of the best kabobs I've ever had, large portions with great sides.
The Lule kabob and Beef kabob were legit. Lule is a ground beef kabob with added Middle Eastern flavors, which is a must try. The beef was an amazing slightly pink medium/medium well and tender. This comes with a side of rice, plus 2 more sides and pita.
Side dishes: yogurt, ikra (like a babaganoush?, made with eggplant), hummus, pita, grilled tomatoes and peppers. All were good, but hands down the grilled veggies were the best (yeah I know, veggies???).
If this place wasn't so far, I'd come here all the time for lunch. -

Glendale, CA
Really delicious food at an amazing price. I think I paid $6-$7 for two skewers of kabob, rice, pita, and two sides. Plus the service was very good and professional. Don't let the outside fool you because it can look like a bit of a dingy place. It's right next to a KFC, which is hilarious considering how amazing Cafe Bravo's food is and how gross KFC can be.

Review from Eddie C.
We were going to be in the Glendale area, so of course I wanted to eat at an Armenia Mediterranean place so we settled on Cafe Bravo.
It's a relatively small place, with a few tables in the back and some smaller tables lining up towards wall of the cashier area.
We ordered the Chicken Kabob and it was nicely cooked. The chicken wasn't dry and was actually flavorful.
Garlic sauce costs $.50. Yeah, I know it's a small amount, but I really think that the first one should be free. They can charge more if you want extra garlic sauce.
This place gets pretty busy so I would either come in during the off peak hours or take it to good.
Overall, a recommended place for some Kabobs. -

Great tasting beef kabob plates. Chicken shawarma is also pretty good but take them a long time to make. Call and order in advance. Good portions. Ok price.

Even though I do like this place and have been a customer for several years now, the food is not consistent enough anymore to get any higher marks.
The food -used- to be terrific especially for the price, but these days it's becoming more of a hit and miss.
Best deal is their catering special: it's a lot of food! $9.99 per person
My favorite place is a terrific sit-down place on Ventura in Sherman Oaks / Encino called Shiraz. Amazing and Authentic Persian cuisine -
Review from Maggie A.
Los Angeles, CA
Four solid stars.
You know why? They pay attention to what I ask and follow directions. You'd be surprised at how few restaurants actually do that.
I've had their food twice. Both times I was impressed.
The first time I had their chicken (not too salty and very moist, which I wasn't expecting, truth be told) and I asked them to hold the feta on my salad. They did. Almost every other place forgets and it irritates the heck out of me. It irritates me even more when I ask them to make me a fresh new salad and they don't and simply try picking little bits of it off of the original which they fouled up.
Second time I went and asked for the beef kabob. I wanted it done as rarely as possible without them killing me and, again, they listened. It was moist and flavorful and JUST WHAT I WAS IN THE MOOD FOR. Incidentally, I also ordered the same salad without feta and they got it right then, too.
I've never eaten inside so I can't comment as to service or the bathroom or anything, though that will change soon hopefully. They seem nice so far as I can tell and I'd be surprised if the bathroom was dirty because, from what I saw in general, it looked pretty clean.
Definitely going back. I like it when a restaurant actually pays attention to what I want. -

Kabob Plates = 3.5 Stars
My family and I had lunch for the first time at Cafe Bravo which is located in a strip mall with KFC. The parking is limited and we had to park on the street. We entered the tiny restaurant which offers counter service and has a limited amount of inside tables and a lil outside patio seating area. It was almost 1:00 pm and there was a line to order and the restaurant was packed. We all ordered kabob plates that included a choice of a meat/chicken/or vege kabob, rice or salad, and any 2 side orders. Our lunch ordered consisted of:
Lule Kabob Plate - $6.75
Hubby and son were going to order chicken, so I wanted to try something different. My two lule kabob skewers were served with my selection of rice, 4 pcs of grape leaves, shirazi salad, and 1 pita bread.
- The ground beef lule was nicely seasoned, tender, and delish! 4 Stars
- The rice and 1 pita bread were fresh and fluffy. 3.5 Stars
- The shirazi salad (sliced cubes of tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, and parsley) was plain and needed some spices and lime juice. 3 Stars
- The cold grape leaves were stuffed with a mixture of rice, ground meat, and spices. I would have preferred the grape leaves if they were served hot. Just "ok" to me. 3 Stars
Chicken Breast Kabob - $6.75
Hubby's chicken breast kabob was served with his choice of rice, hummus, yogurt with spinach, and 1 pita bread. Hubby said his lunch was satisfying. I tried his chicken and it was moist and flavorable. The hummus was aight but the yogurt with spinach was yummy.
Chicken (Thigh Meat) Kabob w/ An Extra Skewer - $8.95
My son's 2 chicken kabob skewers were served with his choice of rice, hummus, shirazi salad, and 1 pita bread. He really liked his chicken and sides.
Chicken (Thigh Meat) Kabob - $6.75
Mom's 1 chicken kabob skewer was served with her choice of rice, shirazi salad, grape leaves, and 1 pita. Mom said it was A LOT of food ....and so cheap.
4 Individual Servings of Garlic Sauce - $.50 Each
We can't eat our pita bread without our garlic sauce. Cafe Bravo's version is "BRAVO". Nice thick texture with a garlicky and buttery taste. OMG, so good. 4 Stars
4 Fountain Refillable Drinks - $1.60 Each
I enjoyed my lunch at Cafe Bravo. I was initially annoyed that the garlic sauce was an extra charge, that our lunch plates were served with only 1 pita bread ($.20 for extra pita), a grilled tomato is an extra charge of $.50. However, it's all worth it because Cafe Bravo offers friendly service, and an abundant, fresh, tasty kabob plate meals with a CHEAP price tag. Cafe Bravo needs to open a location behind the Orange curtain...preferrably in HB. 3.5 StarsListed in: A Sultan's Feast

I always get the white chicken kabob plate. The rice is delicious everytime & when mixed with the grilled tomato there is nothing better!

Arcadia, CA
This place is awesome. I work at a recording studio in Glendale, and we frequently grab lunch from this place. I'm normally pretty adventurous, gut I've only tried two dishes from here actually. I tried the Gyro Plate from here for the first time the other night, and I'd say 3.5/5 probably. The quality of the meat I guess was where it was lacking for me, and the hummus wasn't as amazing as usual, but the rice and salad and Tzatziki were all delicous!
The plate I always get (actually all four of us always get it the same way lol), is the Chicken Kebob Plate with half rice / half salad, bean and corn, and hummus. I like to put a little bit of everything in the pita first off and eat that, then eat the leftovers all together. The chicken is PERFECTLY seasoned and you can really taste the benefits of the method in which the kebabs are cooked. The hummus is the best I've ever had, usually very creamy and well balanced. The rice is always cooked perfect, the salad always fresh, and the bean and corn is great to throw in the mix. I usually polish off the chicken then toss the rice, bean and corn, and salad all together and each bite with a bit of hummus. It's just so great, I can't say enough about it!
*PRO TIP: The Chicken Kebab Plate is a steal at $6.75 and **if you order it to go it comes in a huge takeout box that they fill up quite generously!** Easily enough for two big meals, or one enormous one if you're a really ambitious eater (but you will be very full afterwards).*
The atmosphere is nothing special, the staff is always friendly, and there's always soccer on TV. The best thing about it for me is the food though, of course. No matter how full I get after eating here, I feel like I just ate very healthy and am not bogged down by it.
I know there are quite a few good kebab places to choose from in the immediate area, but don't pass this place up. -

Well I had the chicken plate, and it was pretty good. My husband had the "I really Don't know what kind of meat it was but it looked like pork" meat plate. On my behalf, I ca say that I enjoyed my meal. I had a side of tabuleh and yogurt.
My husband, on the other hand, didn't like the pork/beef meat situation. So just be wary of that. -

Absolutely delicious! Big portions of flavorful balsami rice, fresh sides & juicy tender kebobs. The service is nothing short of amazing. They even double checked our order before giving our boxes to us because we had made some special requests.
Beef Steak Kebobs -- tender, juicy and full of flavor. Cooked just right so the meat was not tough.
Chicken Breast Kebobs -- large chicken breast pieces. The meat was not dry and the breasts were very flavorful.
The pita, grilled tomato and pepper that came with our plate added the extra ummph to the flavor packed sensation of our combo.
Seriously one of the best Armenian places I've eaten at. -

I had the shawerma plate last night, and it was almost inedible. The meat had too much fat and sinew--it was stringy, tough to chew, and disgusting. Please do something about this, Cafe Bravo, considering how good the rest of the menu seems to be.

Don't let the looks of the place from the outside fool you, the food here is AMAZING!
FOOD, 5:
Order the:
-LULE KABOB SANDWICH. It's so ridiculously good and GINORMOUS. The bread, the meat...the whole thing is just awesome. The kabob doesn't taste old and dry like it does at other places. Sometimes I have trouble finishing the entire sandwich by myself...but it's so good that I can't bring myself to stop eating!
-Pasta Salad
-Yogurt & cucumber: This is a MUST. It's perfect.
-AND a yogurt drink to tie it all together.
Yum. Cheap, delicious, convenient, and casual. It doesn't get much better than that! Seriously, the food is GREAT. -

Review from Andrew F.
I've been here twice and both times, they were out of key menu items. The 1st time, they were out of everything except for kafta and chicken kabobs. My 2nd time, they were out of lamp chops.
At least they weren't out of lamb kabobs, thank goodness.
I used my $20 Groupon with Jonathan J. He got the gyro plate and I got the lamb kabob plate. With the plates, you also get two side orders, which I got hummus and baba ghanoush. Outside of what we ordered, they also offer vegetarian options, different salads, chicken plates, and other kabobs plates.
The hummus was tasty, but could have used more tahini for more 'kick', while the baba ghanoush was very solid. For an eggplant hater, Jonathan J actually really liked it. There was a good smoky, roasted flavor to it, as baba ghanoush does [or at least all of the ones I've had do]
There were about 7 pieces of lamb, all of which had good texture, were juicy, and plenty flavorful. I didn't care much for the rice, as the pita bread and 2 sides with the lamb more than did the job for me.
Parking here is pretty bad. Cafe Bravo shares the lot with KFC and a few other businesses, so the parking is very limited within the lot. You may have to try your luck with street parking or go hunting in the neighborhoods around.
The service is also inexplicably slow. I may have been spoiled by Mediterranean Cafe in Pasadena that serves you your food in less than 30 seconds, but still, if all of the meats are on the grill, all of the sides are neatly arranged on the line, why does it take 10~15 minutes to give me my to-go order? Both times I've been here, I've had to wait quite a while, with not too many orders before mine.
I'll definitely be back because you get a lot of food for under $10. The food is of good quality and tastes. Just have to put up with the bad parking and slow service. -

This place is really bang for your buck. They load on your plate with a lot of meat, rice, pita bread, and sides. I got a groupon deal and we got plates each and double skewers. It turned out to be way too much food. Had to take it home and fed occupants.
But of their bang for the buck comes with a price. Not that tasty of meat, rice was bland, and I didn't get any grilled tomatoes. :( -

Review from Eunice K.
Whenever I'm in Glendale I crave Mediterranean food :) Since I've already tried Zankou's, Raffi's, and Shamshiri.. decided to give Cafe Bravo a try. Was able to convince my brother to come with me :)
Maybe I came on a bad day, but Cafe Bravo they did not have a lot of their menu items. I tried to order the Chicken Shawarma, but they were out... I then asked for the Chicken Salad.. but I was told that it was a NEW menu item and that they had not started to serve it yet. I asked for a Chicken Kebab plate and they informed me that they only had the --WHITE Chicken (Breast) Kabob Plate ($7.30)-- I took what I could get! I got a nice row of Chicken Kabob, charbroiled and marinated.. on top of a bed of rice. Not what I came for, but YUM! The plate also came with pita bread, a choice of rice/salad, and 2 sides. For my sides I ordered hummus and tabbouleh. Everything was good, but didn't amaze me.
My brother ordered the --Gyro Plate ($7.80)-- which came with beef and lamb gyro served with rice, greek salad, hummus, and yogurt cucumber sauce. To me, the meat tasted a bit chewy.. but the yogurt sauce was good at giving everything a little more flavor :)
Compared to other restaurants?
Decor/atmosphere -- very similar to Zankou.. More of a casual dining, take-out place.
Portions -- Decent.. but not as big as the other restaurants
Food -- Good, but nothing special.. BUT you get to choose your sides
Prices -- CHEAP
Cafe Bravo must be doing SOMETHING right since they have 2 locations (Glendale & Silverlake).. and they can maintain business amongst all the other Mediterranean restaurants in Glendale.. but if I had a choice, I'd pay a little more and go to Zankou.. just so I could get my garlic sauce :) -

The food was cold when i got it,i got food poisoning from the chicken because it wasn't cooked properly or it was left overs and it was cold and rubbery, honestly i don't know what all the good reviews are about? im middle eastern and this is nothing compared to authentic middle eastern food,it might be cheap, but you get for what you pay for,if you really wanna try authentic, real, middle eastern food try SHIRAZ RESTAURANT on Glendale, ave in Glendale,ca for authentic Persian food, they have lunch specials before 3pm which will cost you $8-12 per plate but you will get a real taste of middle eastern food, the rice at cafe bravo tastes weird like sticky rice its not good quality basmati rice, trust me you will taste the difference plus its a actual restaurant not a little hole in the wall that's over rated and over crowded that serves media-core food =D

Review from Nancy M.
Wow, lots of food for a small price! With tax I paid only $8.01. LOL That always makes me happy!
Now about the food...It's kinda cool that you can have your meat served on rice or a salad (for you health nuts) and you get a choice of one side, but if you don't wanna eat your tomato and pepper then you can opt for another side. YEAH!
So, I got the chicken kabob with rice, hummus, and yogurt with spinach. I love the chunks of the chicken but compared to the chicken lule (which I tried from my friend) the taste was bland (but still eatable). The lule had much better flavor though. Also, the yogurt with spinach was sooo overwhelming so I tried my friend's yogurt and cucumber just to make sure it wasn't just me. Still overwhelming because they drown it in thick yogurt rather than having the yogurt as a dressing. Aww, poor little guys hardly had a chance. LOL The hummus good though and I wish I had more flat bread, but it's okay I used my chicken to scoop it up. :)
This is a good place to come to after a good hike at Brand Park because I worked up an appetite and ate the whole thing (of course, minus the yogurt and half my rice). LOL So I may be back when I'm back at Brand Park. :) -

The lunch plates here are a great deal and tasty treat! They have a great veggie platter that leaves you healthily satisfied. The chicken kebab lunch dish is delicious too! It's small and cramped in the dining area, especially at lunch time, but it's worth the trouble. The service is good, the servers are very courteous and helpful. I enjoy the hummus, tabouleh, and other delicacies prepared at this place. Give it a try sometime!

Having bounced around their menu and tried pretty much everything they make. I've settled on two recommendations for you:
1 - chicken breast kebab sandwich
Their wrap is good, but the sandwich served in their Armenian baguette is amazing. The sandwich is loaded with marinated, fire-grilled chicken breast (best in town, seriously), tomatoes, and their garlic sauce then pressed and wrapped in paper. It's seriously awesome, very filling and only $5.30!
2- lentil soup
they run out later in the afternoon, but if they have it when you're there, you gotta try it out. I love this soup. They make a batch from scratch every day and once you taste it you'll know why I rave about it. A small cup is only $2Listed in: Best eats under $10 in…, Best Armenian Food

Best kabobs around! Cafe Bravo is a place that is great for lunch, and their portions are generous!
Highly recommended are the beef, lamb, or chicken kabobs. Each plate comes with two sides, definitely get the grilled tomato and pepper (green bell) for one! Their humus is great too, but you'll need to order it as one of your sides because you can never have enough humus!Listed in: Good for Groups, Mom & Pop Shops, Outdoor Seating, MUST TRY!
