I came here for "afternoon tea" with my visiting mother-in-law.  The seating is at 2pm, with reservations required 24 hours in advance.

We arrived to a table set for us with cucumber sandwiches, crostini, cookies and cupcakes.  It was a Tuesday afternoon, and the cafe was bright and quiet.  A friendly server greeted us and brought us our tea.  It was a nice place for casual conversation, and we got a lot more food than expected.  A highlight was the dessert crepe to share - I wouldn't call it delicate, but it was tasty!

The food was good, not great, but +1 for presentation and service.  And they took down the TV, if you're interested.

After seeing the line at the breakfast spot down the street, we decided to stroll down the street and that's when we encountered this spot.  There wasn't anyone in here and I was a bit confused as to how it worked when we walked in.  It looks like a cafe, with a menu on the wall and a register up front.  We thought we'd order and pay and then someone would bring us our food.  The lady at the counter told us to sit and she would wait on us.  I think we would have been better off if we had done it our way.  Our waitress was flaky and inattentive even though we were the only ones there.  This waitress was like an iPhone - could not multitask.

So I ordered the  Garden Fresh Breakfast which sounded healthy.  Veggies, eggs, toast...not bad right?  There wasn't a lot of mind paid to the flavor combinations with the veggies.  Tomatoes, avocados, spinach, and eggs...it really makes a bitter combination.  Then there was the toast that was burnt to a crisp and covered in butter.  Feel free to check my photo.  It was kinda crazy.  Had I eaten that, I might as well have gone to Top Pot.

So after we were finished, we sat there for almost 10 minutes waiting for our waitress to come back.  I finally just got up and stood at the register until someone acknowledged me.  The whole thing was over-priced and unsatisfying.  How lame.

If you're on Upper Queen Anne and are ready to duck out of the cold dreary muck and warm up with some freshly-made, comforting goodness, this is your stop. There's something about this place that makes me feel as if I've been invited into someone's home. Part of it is, no doubt, the friendly and enthusiastic greeting and attentive service, but there's also something comfortable and unassuming about the atmosphere. There are just a few small tables, surrounded by cushioned wicker chairs. Settling in at one of these tables somehow makes me feel like I'm dining on someone's covered porch.

Your hostess, Susan, is a sweet Hungarian lady who will proudly tell you that all of the café's food is homemade from scratch. If you are really lucky, she might share the recipe for her spicy cream cheese, which is a tasty topper on some of the sandwiches. Being a cheese hound, I am personally partial to the cheese sandwich, which features a thick layer of said spicy cream cheese. There are crepes and salads if you're looking for something lighter than a sandwich, or you can opt for hearty soups that will warm you down to your toes. Simple, low-key, welcoming and delicious. Café Bonjour is a great place to dry off, warm up, and de-stress after braving the elements!

Sandwiches are served in a variety of styles - ciabatta, whole wheat, or wrap.  I had the Ciabatta di Parma done panini style, and it was really good with maybe a little bit too much butter on the outside making my fingers more greasy than expected.  But it was really big, I could only eat half, so very much worth the price.

Make sure and check the specials board - I totally missed the fact they had shrimp salad available on the day I was there until it was too late.

This is a quiet, nice little place with great service staff and a nice selection of menu items that they are happy to "adjust" for you if you want a different combo of something yummy.

As most of us locals know, places on Queen Anne tend to be overpriced, and this place is no different. Its pretty close to reasonable though. The presentation is pleasing and the flavors are perfect.

    We ordered:
Beverages - Coffee (Americano, priced per cup, no drip available/ not bottomless) and an Italian Soda. Both tasted as expected, good quality.
Food - Spinach and Scrambled Egg on a Croissant - damn good, very fresh and flaky and flavorful, fresh spinach and fluffy scrambled eggs. Crepe - Vanilla Gelato filled crepe drizzled with chocolate sauce and tangerine marmalade. (They offer it with powdered sugar and whip cream which we had them remove.) This crepe was yummy, but definitely a desert crepe to share.

It was a nice day and the doors were open, we sat by the window and enjoyed fresh air. They do keep the TV/flat screen on with no sound, which to me takes away from the experience, but most people like. The music in the background was smooth, light jazz type sounds like Norah Jones, Elvis, Sinatra, etc. Good stuff.

If I could block this place from popping up on my mobile Yelp radar, I would. I was HIGHLY disappointed in this place. Not only is it severely overpriced (for what you get),  the selections are terrible and I wasn't enthused with the pure attitude I received upon walking in. The crepe I had barely had any flavor and was dry- essentially a cold salad wrapped in a crepe shell. I could have made one better at home.
Save a trip of disappointment and go to La Creperie in Pike Place Market instead. Needless to say, I won't be back, not even for gelato, which is really too bad considering it would have been so convenient.

I friend and I went on our way to Blue Highway Games.  The sandwiches were fine; not bad, but not extraordinary.  But the soup (I had the Goulash) was really terrific.  If you are a soup lover, I think this is a great place to try!

The Hungarian woman that runs the place is really friendly and sweet, which definitely adds to the experience.

Warning: I had a "cup" of soup and it was HUGE.  I can't imagine what a bowl of soup would look like here . . .

I went to Cafe Bonjour today for brunch after church and very much enjoyed the experience. The service was a tiny bit slow, but very attentive. My drip coffee was very good. I ordered the 'Meat Lovers Breakfast' with sausage, bacon, ham, and a spinach & egg crepe with sausage gravy. Pretty much a heart attack on a plate, but oh was it good! Especially for the price, I paid $13 after tax and tip for a pretty big plate of food and coffee. They do have a wine list but I didn't really look closely at it since I was eating breakfast.

The overall feel of the cafe is very European, which is part of why I came in. Smallish tables seating three or four people, tile floors and double doors open to the street. There's a big screen on the wall that was playing soccer coverage while I was there.

I would recommend Cafe Bonjour to anyone looking for a small, quiet place for a good quick meal. 4 stars!

Best goulash in the Seattle Area. What better way to combat the apocalyptic Swine Flu than a giant hot bowl of Hungarian goulash and focaccia for dipping. Sandwiches and soups are all very good, great if you're walking distance, but I'm not sure if it's worth driving far for (e.g. Paseo). A must try if you're in the Queen Anne area.

It was a dark and stormy night; the rain fell in torrents, except at occasional intervals, when it was checked by a violent gust of wind which swept up the streets of Queen Anne Avenue, for it is in Seattle that our scene lies...

A lowly coupon and a mighty hunger had enticed me to venture out into the blustery Seattle evening to try a new, neighborhood restaurant.  When I entered Cafe Bonjour, I discovered wicker chairs, college students sipping espresso, heads down, lap tops abuzz and CNN aglow on the wall mounted TV, sound muted, but displaying Closed Captioning for those who wished to follow along.  Sultry Sinatra music filled the air to complete the eclectic atmosphere.

I was greeted cheerfully by the owner and I asked a few questions about the menu.  The item that caught my eye, the Spicy Tofu signature sandwich was not available that day as they had run out of tofu.  However, the owner offered to make a different vegetarian sandwich instead, so I decided to take her up on the offer.  The result was a wonderful, spicy avocado, vegetarian delight.    It is difficult to find reasonably priced, unique and tasty vegetarian sandwiches in Seattle, so I was very pleased with my new discovery.  So much so, I decided to make another visit about a week later.  This time, I brought a friend and we arrived during Happy Hour.  I knew I would get the Spicy Tofu sandwich and was not disappointed.  The sandwich was perfect and is now my new favorite.  A word of caution, if you are not a fan of spicy foods, this may be a bit much for you, but the seasoning is what makes this dish so good.

My friend decided to order several of the Small Plate Happy Hours specials.  The Pesto Tuna was a hit.  Often, tuna will be drowning in mayo, but this dish had just the right amount, and the pesto gave it a little extra zip.  The tuna was piled on crispy, warm flat bread, a dish that would make Charlie the Tuna beam.  My friend also tried the Cesar Salad and the Chicken with Avocado Crostini.  The chicken was deemed the best of the Happy Hour menu for my friend, who, by the way, was unable to finish all 3 dishes.  They may be Small Plates, but they are very filling and delicious!

So, I say, "Merci!", to Cafe BonJour, for providing a good, casual dining experience and for coming up with a unique, delicious sandwich for vegetarians.

This is a great little place to run in and get some soup, salad or a sandwich. I love their Florentine Breakfast Sandwich, and it's enough for two meals. And Susan, the Hungarian owner, can cook some mean soup - today I had the Spinach soup with Camembert with homemade cheese sticks. Cafe Bonjour also has some great looking take home food, I haven't yet tried, like dumplings with stew. The "cups" of soup are actually bowls and affordable at 5 bucks for a homemade soup? The bowls are "for ze men" (or maybe people that want to eat more!)  Awesome. I'll be back!

We went in to have a salad while exploring Queen Anne and it was excellent, hit the spot.  Great place for a light lunch, although their main dishes looked really good as well.  Very friendly.  It seemed like the service was a little slow, but in a world where everything is instant it was a nice location to chit chat and relax while we waited.

If you care about the quality of the food you ingest, do not eat here. How awesome it would be if there was a quaint little place on top of the hill that served crepes and panini! Unfortunately, Cafe Bonjour is a sad excuse for a restaurant, its kitchen comprised of a microwave and a cutting board next to the cash register. Crepes from a package, popped in the microwave, the savory ones topped with powdered Parmesan cheese - it's really unappetizing. Somehow I felt sympathetic to our server, though she was unbelievably slow and scattered given the postage-stamp size of the place. Sorry, but it's really a sad place all around.
