I like it here. I always sit at the bar because I'm usually here for lunch. They do a fine job in the kitchen with the food, overall it's pretty good nice touches with every dish. They also do a brick oven pizza to die for, pesto is my favorite. You wanna laugh come sit at the bar Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday that's when Jimmy is bar tending, what a Pip.
Loyal customers here as well. Great place to go in Bayonne.
Bello is my go to in bayonne for really good italian, them and sarellis are my faves in town, the carpaccio mmmm, the shrimp scampi mmmm, the pizza's mmmm, basically everything i have ever had there has been very very good, the waiters are all very good too, and also the bartenders are great
So... when it was my birthday, my favorite boy brought me to Cafe Bello for a romantic dinner! I am telling you, he could not have chose a better place. Immediately this place had a "special occasion" kind of feel, with a kind of intimate, romantic atmosphere. The waiters are all very well dressed and professional, also lending a feeling of class to the restaurant.
We enjoyed their house wine, and a very generous bruschetta appetizer -- yum! Both of our meals were excellent. I had a chicken pasta dish (the one that seems to be "highlighted" in the menu!). It was so good, but I couldn't finish it, so we had it wrapped up and enjoyed it again the next day.
Finally, although we barely had room for dessert, it arrived (with singing waiters and everything!) We had a chocolate raspberry torte-type thing. Ah. So good!
Overall, Cafe Bello was the perfect place for an intimate, special occasion.
tucked away in a tiny corner in bayonne is cafe bello. blink and you'll miss it as you drive down avenue c.
it is admittedly intimidating when you walk in. perhaps its the sudden air of silence that clouds the room when you walk in. maybe i was walking into a mafia meeting. or maybe it's because i'm the only asian in there. who knows.
let's talk food shall we?
calamari: good and plentiful. i am admittedly not a huge fan of the batter/breadcrumbs they used, however they give you a lot and the squid doesn't taste gross and old so that in itself deserves a medal
linguine alla vognole: good. could've used more clams. i'm sauce was yummy, well seasoned and everything, however, the noodles tasted a little over cooked. i prefer mine al dente.
my only thing with this place is the service. don't get me wrong. it's timely. one of our servers was very nice and attentive, despite having some minor trouble speaking english, however, the older gentleman that served our table almost seemed to be bothered to be doing so. i get it, he didn't want to be there, but i'm pretty sure you're not supposed to take it out on your customers. also, when i asked if they had gelato, he (somewhat condescendingly) said they had ice cream, which is the english translation of gelato. now, not to be picky. but i read that gelato is denser than ice cream. and i'm pretty sure if i went to italy and told people over there that gelato and ice cream are the same thing, i'd get some people really mad.
on the other hand, servings are pretty big for the price you pay.
The seafood here is excellent & so the service is very good. This place gets very crowded on the weekend, but with good reason.
The Calamari appetizer (super fresh) is a favorite, but I wish they would stop putting in too many fried peppers. Pasta, chicken & seafood dishes are great- you really can't go wrong
Excellent food & service.
When you are waiting for a table- sometimes the wait time is not so accurate. i.e. - you are being told 15 minutes- when it is more like 1/2 hour. Great food & worth the wait though.
On a side note: They need to get rid of the depressing picture of the two children looking terribly sad in the women's room.
Also a baby changing table in the ladies room would be nice.
My sisters and I celebrated our mother's birthday at her favorite restaurant, Cafe Bello. This was a first visit for two of us and we were taken aback by our snooty waiter. Fortunately for us, the food and wine was excellent and our waiter's nasty attitude diminished as the evening progressed. The mussels were huge and succulent, my lobster ravioli worthy of 5 stars alone and the Pinot Gris we ordered was a perfect complement to our meal.
Great food!! Great excellent wine ruffino the best! I ordered lobster ravioli after seeing Damaris review I made my mind to try the ravioli was delish!! Overall cafe bello is excellent! Thank you Damaris;-)
