This was our first visit tonight recommended by friends. What a great place!
The food was wonderful, the attention from the wait staff was great (especially from our waitress Alba). She was excellent. I fell in love with their House dressing and I bought some to take home. Umm..delicious!
The only small drawback is the place is small, and can be very noisy because of the small area of dining room, but I can deal with that, it's that worth it. Everything else is the best!
Will definitely be back..can't wait!! -

Cafe Assisi, Wrentham Ma.
The only reason this is a four star review is the oh so limited seating.
We were fortunate enough to get a seat at cafe Assisi before the holidays. As you know the seating is limited but you can call ahead for reservations. If you arrive early you'll be tempted by the various dishes in the display case or watching the small kitchen work thier magic.
There were four of us, and there was a lot of sharing. We had the Chicken Mediterranean, it was fantastic, and the portion size was enormous. We ordered the gnocchi, soft and fluffy, most excellent, as well as the Penne, Broccoli, and Chicken with both cream and garlic and oil sauces. Although there were leftovers this should be attributed to the generous portion sizes, not our attempt at cleaning our plates.
We completed the meal with Death by Chocolate Cake and coffee, although the cake was fine,it was not at the same standard as the dinner itself.
We would highly recommend Cafe Assisi, but do call ahead. -

I've heard (though I cannot confirm whether it is true) that the same family who owns Luciano's owns Cafe Assisi. Whatever the case, Cafe Assisi is great for take out and dining in (though it is tiny and unless you go at an off time, you will likely wait forever). If you happen to be shopping at the Wrentham Outlets, it is a fabulous lunch option aside from all of the nasty chain restaurants at the outlets. I would definitely recommend checking out if you are looking for fantastic Italian food in huge portions for a great price.

This was our first time but is definitely NOT our last. The place was small (you should call ahead on a Sat. Night), packed and had a very warm feel to it. Service was great, prices were North End but the portions were very generous (3/4 of us took half our meals home). Caesar salad was fresh and delicious and so was the warm fresh bread. Calzones were regulation football size and cheese raviolis with sausage were delicious.we'll be back!!

THIS IS DEFINITELY A HIDDEN GEM!!!
I have been here on numerous occasions. The food here is excellent.
Tonight we had a stuffed Portabello mushroom that was overcooked. The stuffing itself was not up to par either.
BUT, that is a big BUT the food here is the best italian fare you can get. The portions are huge and everything is made to order. We each order an entree and you have to take half of it home for lunch or dinner the next day. The prices are very reasonable. It only has 3 booths and 6 - 2 spot tables so there is not much room. The place does a tremendous amount of take out. I have not had their pizza's but they sure do look good coming out of the kitchen.
Please don't tell anyone about this place. -

Some of the best italian food i've had outside of italy in a long time. This place may be small, may have a bit of a wait but the food is totally worth it. I think we'll be going back every friday till we can't walk anymore. I had the chicken scarpiello (sp?) and my boyfriend had the chicken parm. We started with some perfectly done squash blossoms as well which we found out were from the local farms in the area (two points here!) I honestly can't wait to go back. The best part is that you get what you paid for. It's not too pricy at all, the portions are good for two meals and its really freakin' tasty.

This is the best Italian food I have had in the Boston-Providence area. Every dish I have had (calzone, pasta, pizza, meatballs, etc) has been outstanding. Drawbacks...they don't take reservations and the place is tiny so wait can be long....

As far as local Italian offerings, I give Cafe Assisi top honors. My parents live right around the corner from this place so I usually get the take out. The menu contains many Italian staples as well as a few appetizing dishes which I'm not sure you could find anywhere else in the suburbs. The cafe is small and every time I've been inside, it is full, cramped and pretty loud with all that was going on. I wouldn't try to dine in during prime time as I'd imagine the wait times can get pretty long. If you are semi-local, definitely give this small Italian cafe a try or two or three. You will find the authentic Italian cuisine a refreshing reprieve from the olive gardens and bertuccis of the world.

Not what it used to be under previous owner but still good for a quick plate of macaroni and a glass of wine. Table service but lots of takeout, too. Nice place to drop in after some shopping at Wrentham outlets.

I love this restaurant. Derek, the owner, head chef and great host is back in charge.
Every plate I have ordered there has been excellent. If you don't want to spend a lot of money get their delicious antipasto and a pizza with a couple of glasses of Chianti. You want something a bit more fancy, go for the veal saltimbocca or eggplant parmigiana. The seafood dishes could be straight out of Napoli. There are no bad dishes here.
I brought some friends from Boston and they were blown away by the food, the service and the friendly staff.
The place is small and gets crowded and is always fun. Cafe Assisi will not disappoint. -

Such a cute spot! With great food to boot. And did I mention liquor? It's quite a unique set up in here. It has the feel of a deli/sandwich shop when you walk in, but their menu is full of classic italian dishes, seafood entrees, creative calzones, and desserts. They also have a good selection of bottled beer as well as a full bar! I also noticed they had an actual deli meat windowed rack under the register for patrons who'd like to take some to-go. I recommend their Spinach Ravioli Pomadoro . The sauce was incredibly good, and it was full of spinach, cheese, and prosciutto. The staff seems very friendly and it appears that they have quite a few regulars as there were photos on the wall everywhere you looked. It's nice to see a small business like this doing well!

I love this place. I go just for the Carbonara, it's wonderful.
They are limited for seating, so unless you get there early, expect to stand and wait.
But, you can have a beer or a glass of wine while you do. -

Small but authentic italian place in Wrentham. Great for locals but do not take the trouble to drive there just to try the food!
Chef has changed, but menu is still authentic. Enjoy -

Great intimate atmosphere, although the place is very small so you may need to wait for a table. Food is always excellent, as is the service. Prices are fair and portions are large. Overall, a fantastic place for lunch or dinner if you're in the mood for Italian food. The takeout items (sausage and broccoli rabe, eggplant rollatini, stuffed peppers, etc) are very good as well.

We are major league fans of the food. Let me just compliment that once we are seated, we are provided very attentive service. It is the walking thru the door giving your name and waiting to be called in the order you arrive that - at this point (3rd time) has made me very unhappy. I refer my clients to this fine establishment and I hope they are not treated the same way. Tonight we gave our name, told it was a 30 minute wait - told we could order a glass of wine and wait outside. No problem, in no rush - relax. Following our check-in TWO (2) other families of FOUR (4) arrived. One stood rudely in the doorway watching the people eating the other came outside with us. Some people left - the rude people were seated. The other family of 4 were called in. Next, TWO (2) women walked in and were seated. SO AFTER OUR CHECK-IN THREE LATER PARTIES OF PATRONS WERE SEATED My husband then went in to inquire regarding the wait and we were seated. Not COOL! I have sent a message to the owner via the web site so I hope this problem can be addressed. The food is terrific, sorry I have to be negative - but we all work hard for the money and if I go out - I want to be happy that I did. My husband suggested we stick to the takeout - but I enjoy going out...... My parents had a restaurant for 21 years - PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS.

At the advice of friends my husband andIi ate at Cafe Assisi last night.
We called and had put names put on the wait list for 6:30.
We took 2 beers outside to wait at the charming outdoor sitting.
The wait was only about 10 minutes, as told.
We ordered the calamari, which was excellent. I t was served with cherry pappers, grape tomatoes and arugula and was hugh and delicious. The calamari was not crisp, but incredibly tender!!! Marinara sauce served for dipping was very tasty!!! All in all we loved it, could have used another couple to share.
Husband had penne with broccoli rabe and sausage. He breaks away from vegetarianism occassionlly, for sausage or good hot dogs!!! Again, portion hugh and very tasty.
I had the littleneck clam appetizer , but made the way it is prepared when served with the linguini: in a wine, herb and broth suace. Plenty of the smallest clams i have ever seen and very good. I like my clams small.
All in all very good and very reasonable; we will return. despite how loud and noisy it is.
A must comment is that the service is excellent and acommadating. -

Thank God for Cafe Assisi which is an oasis in what otherwise seems to be a depressing desert of chain food options in this area. Although I don't live in Wrentham I do shop on occasion at the Wrentham Outlets and when hungry there is simply nothing, and I mean nothing worth eating at the outlets. Instead, just drive down the road a little ways and enter Cafe Assisi, where you will find authentic and delicious Italian food at reasonable prices. The place is small, so you might have to wait, but it's worth it. If you can't wait, do take-out.
The head chef and owner, Dereck, is personable and talented. He runs a great place and it's clear he values great food and excellent customer service. Last time we were there, Dereck himself waited on us. Even though the place was busy, he was genuinely concerned with our food happiness and overall experience. We had antipasto, calamari and a pizza. There was actually so much food that the leftovers we brought home were enough for our dinner. I want to add that the place is spotless including the bathroom which was as clean as could be. Bravissimo Cafe Assisi.Listed in: My Mediterranean, My Love, Mi Manca L'Italia

First it was late so I didn't have dessert,no I'am not sick it was just to late. The reason four stars and not five is I didn't try dessert. This place is a warm cozy place and so welcoming and friendly. The bread is fresh and warm homemade. My pizza was one of the best I've had in a long time, fresh, fresh topping's.The staff is bloody great. To the people who reviewed this place thankyou ,we tried here thanks to you.Update I had dessert,an italian that can't produce a decent cannoli? That's just wrong it was horrible ,I've made cannoli it's not that hard or maybe for this place it is.

Cafe Asisi serves up tasty Italian food in a small restaurant not far from the Wrentham Village Outlets. In my recent trip I had their pizza, calamari, and a one-off antipasto plate that the owner put together for our table. The food was all excellent and our service was superb as well. The owner, a young guy named Dereck DiBiase, is also an extremely friendly host. I watched him greet a number of visitors as they came through the door like they were old friends or repeat customers. This type of hospitality not to mention quality italian food are worth the visit.

Good ol' New England warmth and well prepared food. A friend and I who grew up in the area and now live in the SF Bay Area (well known as the gastronomic center of the West) were looking for a good place for dinner while taking a break from visiting family and friends here in Massachusetts. We yelped the area and chose Cafe Assisi and are so glad that we did!
I had the green salad and Chicken Francese: I generally balk at iceberg lettuce, so I'll call that unimpressive. However, the Francese was out-of-this-world great: really, really yummy. She also had the green salad -- and loved the house vinaigrette. She had the Pasta Fra Diavolo and loved it: a good amount of spice, loaded with peppers, onions and mushrooms with a lot of sauce, which was good for dipping the bread. We also each had a glass of wine: not a high-end wine list, but still a good couple of glasses (one pinot noir and one Chianti) -- maybe a ittle warm temperature wise. Portions are huge.
The bread is stunning: Dereck has gone out of his way to make sure this fantastic artisan bread is on the table here. Awesome touch that makes all the difference in the world: baked from a local artisan bakery who really knows what they're doing!
Ambiance of the place is refreshing. Really nice murals painted on the walls, small dining room, great display case full of yummy to-go items (eggplant rolls, baked zucchini slices, prosciuto-and-chesse-stuffed peppers, etc.). The kitchen is sort of open to the dining area, so the dining room is warm, but even in the summer heat, the air conditioners were doing a sufficient job of keeping the place comfortable.
Highly recommend if you're in the area! -

First time here, was a terrific success! The Calamari was probably the best I have ever had. Wonderful very friendly staff. Despite the small spot you feel very comfortable here and it seems everyone around you is having as good of a time as you. Can't wait to go back and try some more of their specials.

We were shopping at the outlet and needed a quick dinner, so we stoped at Cafe Assisi. The place is good for a quick dinner. Their sauces were good but the chicken was pretty bad. If I go there again, I will choose something other than chicken. It's not cheap but decent food for $20/person. It is a whole in the wall so do not expect a great abience however, the sservice was fast and good.

Cafe Assisi has a great selection of Italian food and everything from the bread to the meal tastes absolutely rich and delicious.
If you do not get there in time though, the wait can last a while. Try and get there early or even head over there for lunch and you will, hopefully, not be disappointed.
This place is very small and they have lots of options, beyond sitting down and having gigantic bowls of pasta.
Yes, the servings are huge and great to take home and the pizza is very good. Even though it is really small its not bad to take kids to because outside is 5 seconds away and they do take take out orders at their small deli. -

This is a great little place. Menu is a decent size for such a small place. I had the best meatball sub I've ever had. My wife's turkey sub was also great. Service was good and prompt. If you're in Wrentham and need a bite to eat I highly recommend Cafe Assisi.

Man, do I love the food here. They have those crazy good gourmet pizza's. But if you want an Italian dish, or even sandwich those are awesome too.......love, try it. I recommended this place to a friend of mine who was new in town. It's his favorite place now......this is one of Wrentham's best kept secrets.
