3 reviews for Cafe Alfresco
The line for the buffet is usually too long and I'm usually way too hungry to wait... so we eat at Cafe Alfresco, which is unfortunately lofted slightly above Toucan Charlie's, making the buffet desserts clearly visible to us all throughout dinner :(
Cafe Alfresco is not bad, though. The contemporary Italian decor is simple and relaxing after an exciting day on the slopes (oh woe my sore muscles). We ordered a tomato caprese appetizer (meager quantity), sante fe salad which was surprisingly delicious!, a roasted garlic chicken pizza, and a margherita pizza. The quality of their oven-baked brick oven pizzas are inconsistent. I've had AMAZING crispy, toasty, juicy pizzas from here but also had very bready, pre-packaged microwavable like pizzas. I advise against their desserts (they are often frozen inside making me believe they are from Costco) but to order three scoops of homemade gelato instead. Three generous scoops only cost $4.99 and all the flavors are creamy and dreamy. My favorite flavors are the tiramisu and coconut. The gelato is displayed in a see through case so you can oodle over all the colorful flavors. You can order gelato to go as well.
The service is okay. Our waiter took our orders, brought the food, picked up the check, and came back with toothpicks. The mere standard. But it's a Reno hotel and a $60 meal for a group of four is considered pretty darn cheap here... so I guess it's alright.
This is a non sober review, but still it's a review. The hot pastrami sandwich w/ french fries at midnight hit the spot! I can't remember how much it costed. $8-9 maybe? I don't know...I think my eyes were closed for most of the meal. BF ordered 3 scoops of gelato, but it turned out to be more like half a gallon....only for $4.99!
I can only speak for the strawberry Gelato as it was the only item I ordered. It was horrible; flavorless and texturally wrong for a Gelato.
