Cafe Adam is pretty hit or miss...all in one visit.  We went for a late lunch on a holiday, calling ahead for a table for 5 just in case they were busy.  They weren't. Who eats lunch at 2PM?

We were quickly seated and then treated to a waitress training to be a space cadet.  She didn't understand what my aunt wanted when she said "pinot grigio" because the menu said pinot gris. my grandma asked for a whiskey sour (grandma!) and received a blank stare.  So the back up bloody mary was ordered and when that arrived it had no alcohol in it and too much pepper. awesome.  she went away for about 20 minutes while we talked, trying to fight off starvation.  Everyone ordered the same thing - Avocado Toast - except me (Tuna Tartine).

A peanut and garbanzo soup came with our meals, but only 4 of us got it at the same time. my cousin had to wait an extra 10 minutes for hers because the waitress 'forgot'.  The soup was really excellent, as was the tempura fried onions in curry sauce.  The avocado toast looked AMAZING i was sad i didn't order it.  A thick slice of grain bread slightly charred with a spiced mayonaise dressing, topped with thick smoked salmon and 1/4 of an avocado. YUM.  My Tuna thing said it was pan seared with roasted red peppers and cheese.  what i got was a tuna melt i could have made at home.  that was super annoying.

the piece de resistance was when we 'tried' to order dessert. Grandma tried to order a cup of coffee ice cream. "we don't have that, just what's on the board" (plus a blank stare) then she asked what was on the board because she couldn't see it.  blank stare. so the rest of us read it to her and she picked something. then the waitress walked away...without taking anyone elses order. 10 minutes later she was nowhere to be found, and then when my mom ordered a molten chocolate cake she frowned and said "but it's going to take ten minutes" to which my mom replied "well you should have taken the request 10 minutes ago." and my mom's the polite one in the family.

in summation: excellent food (though the molten cake turned out not to be molten, it was cooked all the way through), nice atmosphere, terrible service.
