Me and a co-worker hit up Cafe 47 for lunch...I had won a gift card through twitter. I was pretty psyched about free food.. but trust me.. this doesn't affect my yelp review.

*Cute Place- loved the decor. You would walk right by it if you didn't know it was there but once you enter this little place, it's quite cozy.

*Very Friendly Staff. The owner came out and introduced herself when giving me the gift card. She honestly didn't need to, the waitress could've just given it to me. Beth, the owner, is super sweet.

*Food- I ordered the Buffalo chicken pizza (very spicy)..it was very tasty and not greasy. My co-worker ordered the Prosciutto, Pear, and Gorgonzola pizza.. she also loved her pizza. Unfortunately, her pizza was lacking the Prosciutto...she didn't notice till halfway through eating. She didn't complain to the waitress but if anyone orders this pizza...make sure it has the prosciutto.
We also had a side of the mix fries (Sweet potato & french fries) - one word: Addicting! I could not stop munching on these crunchy/sweet/tasty fries. Delicious!

We tried to order the Flan for dessert. It was mentioned on the menu but the waitress wasn't sure of it then told us they didn't have any. We were kinda bummed about that but quickly turned our frowns upside down with the mini cupcakes. Yummmmyyyyyyy!!! Chocolate, Vanilla, and Red velvet. If I wasn't stuffed I would've eaten all 3.. but we shared.

*Service was good. I do have to say it took a while for our pizzas to come out. We were here for lunch and were hoping they would come out quicker than it had.

I'm glad I won the GC.. I WILL be returning to Cafe 47!

I was so upset to see that Despinas closed. I live in the 500 block of Beacon when I first moved up to Boston. Despinas was between work/school and home so it became my go to place for a slice or veggie lasagna. I was quite hesitant about trying Cafe 47 because I 'knew' it could not be as good. Well, Cafe 47 has kept the great pizza that I loved and has expanded to a great menu! Plus they serve really good drinks now!

I went to Cafe 47 early on last week for Yelp office hours. We were served a few types of great pizza and 3 sangria's. Of the drinks we had my favorite was the Marlborough Mint, a sauvignon blanc with oranges and mint, because the herb and fruit was so fresh.

I told Boyfriend how impressed I was the Cafe 47 keeping the same pizza recipe, that they now serve alcohol, refreshed space, and a bigger menu. Not wanting to miss out on anything he suggested it the next time we had class. So after class we went over for a late dinner. We got there @ 10.10 and they told us they were only serving pizza- they close at 11. I was really disappointed to hear this since I really wanted a simple wedge salad and I just had their pizza 2 days before. Our waitress checked to see if they put the salad stuff away, which I appreciated, but still no salad. We still enjoyed our spinach, bacon, tomato pizza though.

I'll have to come back earlier to try something else so I can revise my review.

Cafe 47 was all right.

The Eggplant Rollatini appetizer has a wonderful pomodoro sauce that will have you licking the plate clean. The Poached Pear Salad was average and the Vegetarian Pizza was pretty good. The atmosphere was cozy with the brick walls and low lighting and I loved the neat peephole into the kitchen. There's a small, intimate bar towards the back and the staff was friendly enough, but it just didn't have that wow factor for me.

If anything, I would tell you to get the sangria! Some of the best I've had in Boston.

I've been to Cafe 47 a few times, had take out several times and we've had 2 work events catered by them.   The work events are usually pizza and salad because that is easiest for a large crowd.  Everyone raved about the pizza, they have many different types to pick from and all are delicious!

My favorite is the bruschetta, the flavors are wonderful and if I do take out lunch that is my first choice!  The eggplant rollatini is delicious and there are many great salads to choose from!

When dining in the restaurant, there are plenty of wines to choose from at good prices!  The bar is cozy to enjoy a glass with an appetizer.

How have I passed right by this place without even noticing it? It's unassuming and sort of blends in with everything around it. Is it a mirage? A mirage of a pizza haven of joy? Perhaps.

I went to a Yelp event (thanks for the good time, Leighann!) here and was really, really pleased with the atmosphere at the service. It started getting busy around 7 or so, but was never over-stuffed or chaotic. Lots and lots of takeout orders were placed. Our group had some pizzas brought over and they looked and smelled delicious. I, unfortunately, can't partake of the cheesy, bready goodness, but everyone seemed to jump on in there and things got a bit quieter as people stuffed their faces with childlike glee.

What I COULD partake of, however, was the sangria. I only tried the red as someone mentioned that the white was a bit sweeter than the red and, being the dry red wine kind of girl that I am, I opted to leave the white for everyone else. It looked citrusy and had mint in it, though, so I would hazard a guess that it was a mojito-like citrus mix, which I bet would be gorgeous on a hot summer day. The red was tasty. I have to admit, it was a bit too fruity and Kool-Aidy for my taste, but I think I was in the minority. I prefer my sangria to have more of a wine taste.

That said, the service was fantastic, they dealt with our loud crowd very well, and the location is perfect. I hope to try it again sometime. Bonus for being right next door to Sweet, the land of the perfect cupcake (or so I hear...)

Really solid neighbourhood eating spot - ideal for lunch or dinner. Tuna burger really solid as is the regular burger. I often go for their penne napolentana (or whatever the basic tomato sauce one with chicken is called) and its really tasty without being over the top huge!

Not a bad wine list and OK beer selection for me. We often go for a quick dinner if we can't be bothered cooking or are on our way back home and can't decide where to do. It's reasonably priced and usually pretty quick. Definitely worth swinging by if you are in the area.

They still have Despina's pizza if you like Greek style pizza ...

This used to be Despina's pizza, a pizza joint that sold beer, subs, and greek pizza. The new owners apparently still do the same pizza, which isn't bad.  The new decor is really nice cool, cosmopolitan, chic, and a big change from Despina'a.

They've plenty of beer choices, and the service is good. However, the food besides the pizza seems fairly pedestrian which is a let-down after all the work done on the place. I'll be back to try this place, just not every week. This place has promise and I hope eventually the kitchen will deliver some real kick-ass food.

Affordable, friendly and delicious!

Went here on a recommendation from a friend and was very happy with what I found. Great selection of food and drinks, great exposed-brick decor and our server was incredibly attentive. When a manager came over to see what we thought of the place, they heard there was a birthday in our group and quickly arranged for candled- cupcakes and singing. Can't beat that service!

This swanky cafe/restaurant with a myriad of color, texture lighting, and animal prints used to be a decent pizza place, in a previous lifetime. They have kept on the guy who makes the pizza dough, but everything else about the place has changed.

Unfortunately, the service wasn't amazing. The ladies who were working the floor weren't easy to get the attention of, they seemed more interested in talking to regulars about upcoming nuptials, than anything else.

I got the caprese panini, my dad got some kind of pesto chicken panini. I don't think that I've ever had a pressed sandwhich with that much grease involved. I was fairly to very unimpressed.

I really enjoyed eating here last night for dinner. Cafe 47 seems to be a place for regulars because the workers all knew their guests by name when people were walking in.

It's a small restaurant with only about 6 tables in total. There were a group of folks hanging out by the bar, which made it challenging to walk to the restroom.

I felt bad for our server because she was one of two working last night and seemed to be running around the entire restaurant the whole night. But she was very friendly and always greeted our requests with a smile.

We ordered their calamari appetizer, which was so good! We also ordered their burger and fries and a large spinach and bacon pizza. It was more than enough food for the three of us and we ended up having half a pizza leftover to take home.

Would definitely love to try their lunch menu next time!

without having won a gift card for the place, i don't know that i'd have ever heard of cafe 47. i'm super glad my boyfriend is an avid WEEI listener because this place is great.

we went on a monday night and were the only ones there, save for a few take-out orderers. cozy and cool, i enjoyed the decor and loved the music that was playing (lots of live/acoustic classic rock. led zeppelin came on a few times).  the service was fast.

the burgers are pretty much amazing. they're very grilly tasting and juicy. as tends to always happen, i was jealous of my bf's burger. the baja shrimp salad was excellent. i was weary about the size/whether or not it'd fill me up so i ordered a side of sweet potato fries. the fries were super delicious but i didn't need them because the salad was very filling. the layers of flavors were highly complementary and everything was fresh. i swapped the shrimp for chicken because i was going to a concert (which involves lots of beer) and i didn't feel like burping up the sea all night. it was a good choice.

they had rapscallion on tap and it went down nice and easy. the narraganset is cheap and i totally wanted to try all the sangrias on the (very long) wine list.

the prices are very reasonable and the portions are great. such a lovely place.

Really just alright.  The location is... fine.  The food is pretty good.  The prices are typical.  The service was very nice.  The sangria was terrific (filled to the brim and very strong).

I wouldn't come back here again unless I was starving and everything else in the area was full.  It's really just a bland sort of place.

If I actually took this Yelp thing to a whole new level and sported a notepad to restaurants to jot down stuff about my experiences, here are what my notes on Cafe 47 would look like:

*Open for three months and founded by a successful restaurateur from Providence

*Wow - order for 28 pizzas placed to a school in Cambridge - this must be good food

*This place is decorated like a Fendi purse turned inside-out

*Plenty of space in the restaurant on a Sunday night

*Rapscallion and Pilsner Urquell on draft - nice

*Decent dinner menu items heavily leaning towards pasta dishes and pizza - price range from $10 - $20.

*Buffalo chicken pizza (special for the night) ranks well above-average: nice soft crust, fresh ingredients, etc.

*Attentive service, good experience, would definitely come back.

*They could probably clean up if they put together a brunch service on the weekends knowing the crowd in this neighborhood.

I just enjoyed a great Sunday night dinner here. The restaurant's decor is simple but on the hipper side of things, without trying too hard.

Best of all is that  this is not super expensive place to dine. You can definitely treat yourself (and a friend or date) here without wearing a hole in your wallet.  For a the meal, my boyfriend and I split an appetizer and got a small pizza each. The meal came to just under $30, which is great when you are under employed at the moment. The appetizer was the real star of the meal since pizza is well, pizza. For the appetizer we had Bruschetta that featured prosciutto and a light salad with an assortment of marinated and grilled veggies. The pizzas were pretty standard, nothing too extravagant but filling and delicious. Since I didn't try any of their fancier entrees, I figured I should give only four stars.  But I would definitely come here again.

Oh, and I didn't have a beer, but they seemed to have a nice selection of interesting/craft-y beers at the bar.

I would highly recommend everyone to try the Eggplant Rollentino app. It made me forget that eggplant and I aren't best buds. The sauce that comes with it pretty much sealed the deal when I took a bite into the crispy grilled wrapped eggplant. Heavenly.

Also, please try their Sangria. It's very fruity. (I'm not a fan of Sangria when it tastes too much like wine) They make it themselves everyday. I prefer red over white, but both tasted awesome. Nice decor with the fruit as well. It's an okay price at 8 dollars a glass, but if you head anywhere else, you'd get 7-10 dollars for a small glass. Cafe 47 does the best by giving you a large glass.

This is my first review on yelp and I always, ALWAYS, try some fries at different places I eat. Cafe 47's fries aren't bad, but just okay on my scale. Their fries have a crisp/light crisp consistency, but lacked the wow-factor I need. It's like if Burger King fries married Wendy's fries and had a kid. I am hoping they'll do something more with their fries, maybe have some cajun/bbq seasoning, or follow the parmesan/rosemary route.

The price is reasonable for the Back Bay and the decor is very down to earth, nice and appealing.  The place could accommodate one large group, however I think this is more of a couple/ group of 4-6 friends kind of place. The waitstaff is pretty cheerful and helpful as well. Very attentive, overall a good first experience.

The staff at Cafe 47 will immediately make you feel very comfortable whether you are wandering in to place a take out order, being seated in the dinning room or at their cozy bar. I honestly can't say enough about the folks that work at Cafe 47 for I don't believe I have ever met a more friendly group of people. This is a place that people will be commenting on later and saying...oh yah I was there before it really became popular! The pizza stayed true to it's origin in that the place was a Greek pizzera named Despina's that was honestly just a dive but the pizza was great! Cafe 47 has brought the dinning experience to an art form in that the food is good to very good and some bordering on mouth-watering but what makes this place truly great and a favorite is the people...both the people that you meet while dining and at the bar but the staff exudes both fun and great service. I can't wait to go back!

Two of my friends and I were traipsing around Newbury St. one sunny late morning, window shopping and generally just enjoying the beautiful weather.  When somebody decided it was time for a meal, and when somebody else decided it was too late for breakfast (oops), we stopped by Cafe 47 on a whim to get some lunch.

The decor inside is immediately striking; somehow combining a red-brick-Italian-pizza-place atmosphere with a hip-cocktail-sipping-abstract-art-on-the-wall feel in a way that's not completely discordant. We were quickly seated (the place was almost empty at 1pm on a Wednesday), and our waitress was quick and friendly, although I suspect she was relatively new to the place.

The menu is probably best described as modern Italian-American bistro fare, with paninis, sandwiches, salads, and desserts, and was neither overwhelming nor overly sparse.  We all ordered the lunch special, which included a soda, half of a panini, and a salad for the extremely reasonable price of $8.

Our food wound up being quite good, with the best part being the  Poached Pear Salad with candied walnuts, bleu cheese, a vinaigrette, and delicious pieces of poached pear.  The paninis with well-made, though unremarkable.

Overall a great place to get lunch, especially with the $8 lunch special.  I look forward to returning soon.

I chose this place blindly for my after graduation meal, I know that's a little wild, but if yelp! says "jump!" I retort "how high?"

There were 11 of us so I  called to make a reservation, but I don't think they usually take them.  The place is pretty small but sumptuously decorated, I really loved the ambiance and sweet looking bar.  All were satisfied with their meals (everything from burgers and salads to pizza) the only loser was  the tuna sandwich.  It seemed a tad too raw for my uncle's taste, and let's just say that he isn't a picky eater.  On the plus side, I'm sure they would have taken it back if he had asked.

I had a bleu cheese burger that was super yummy and juicy (it was medium) washed down with a Sam Adams Light.  Can I get a hell yeah?  The owner was very nice and accommodating, and while I think that our waitress was a newbie she still did a good job for a large group.  Sometimes it pays to be patient and understand that a girl's just trying to learn!

Dessert was mini cupcakes from Sweet, apparently Cafe 47 knows that we post grad attending people do not want to schlepp next door for our confections.

Of course, that didn't stop the fam and I from stopping in and buying dozens of cupcakes "for later" but that's another story...

This place was adorable.  I also was familiar with the previous pizza shop that was there before, and this place is night and day from Despina's.  It's small, but definitely cozy/intimate.  The menu is also a good size-not overwheleming.  Plus, they have a very reasonable wine menu.

I had the pesto tortellini dish and my friend had the salad and a small pepperoni pizza.  All dishes were delicious-reasonably priced and good size.  Plus, our waitress was super friendly and helpful.

I really liked this place and will definitely go back.  It's in a good location too-just blocks from the Hynes T stop.

I've been to Café 47 quite a few times now, which should give some indication that I enjoy the place.  I think they still have some growing pains to sort out, but overall the restaurant is a great addition to the neighborhood.

The food is excellent; I'd describe the cuisine as Italian-American comfort food.  The lunch menu features items like the Tuna Burger, Cuban Panini and a Sautéed Steak & Cheese.  Dinner menu includes Atlantic Salmon, a Vegetable Risotto and the ever present Chicken Parmigiana.  They also serve some creative salads, burgers and pizzas.  They also serve breakfast before 11:00am, although I can't claim to have tried it.

They also have a great wine selection, compliments (I believe) of Second Glass.

Prices are very fair, which lunch items all in the $7-$8 range and dinners $15-$18.

I am consistently impressed with the food.  The ingredients are always fresh and everything seemed to be cooked to perfection.  I particularly enjoy the Tuna Burger, which has a slab of yellowfin that will just melt in your mouth.  And they don't overcook their burgers, which is a rare find these days.

Unlike their menu, I think the service at Café 47 still needs some work.  If you're lucky enough to be served by the owner, you'll be well taken care of.  However, the rest of the staff can be slow, careless and clueless.  The first time I ate in the restaurant I waited nearly an hour for my food while the waitress flirted at the bar.  Several times I've ordered takeout only to get back to my office and find parts of my (paid for) order missing.  And when I complained the last time I placed an order I didn't receive an apology or a discount or even an acknowledgement that they'd screwed up, just an "uh huh, yeah, whatever" from the waitress.

But I'm confident the service will improve, and so long as the food remains outstanding I'll continue to be a regular customer.

I didn't order anything challenging so I can't really comment on the food too much but I will be back to order something heartier. Say, a burger. Sim loves her meat lolz.

But I was greeted and seated by the owner which is always a nice touch. We talked Yelp for a bit and without sucking up I told her how much I liked the place. Red floors! And to whoever wrote that negative review in the past about this place being dirty... could not be farther from the truth. Everything sparkled...

Like the mirrors in the corners of the ceiling. I don't generally fancy myself but I could not help but sneak a peek every few minutes or so during dinner. I ordered the poached pear salad which was perfectly fine, nothing to write home about but definitely gave me the idea that the menu items are all worth trying.

I'm only a college student with an insatiable hunger (with a nice wallet but it's more on the skinny side if yaknowwatimean), but I can always try. Like the Little Engine that Could.

The five star review is for Sunday morning staff...

Went to Cafe 47 on a Sunday for an early lunch. Within minutes of our arrival the place held no less than 5 strollers and 7 kids varying in age from 5 months to about 4 years. There were two moms nursing without covers, two kids asking questions about how the kitchen works, one vocal young man protesting that he has to sit in a booth... and the staff, the fabulous patient staff, didn't skip a beat.

So, I think this is a very family/kid friendly place (they offer crayons!) so long as your kid doesn't need to run all over the restaurant to feel happy.

I loved the old Despina's so it cost a little bit of my soul to try this place out finally, but it was worth it.

Cafe 47 serves Americanized italian/pizza in a casual setting with moderate prices (10-18 for an entree). Pretty much across the board (my group tried entrees and pizza), the food was good, but a little pricey overall.

The best deal in Cafe 47 by far is the pizza as its $8 for an individual small pizza, and both the crust and ingredients were absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend any of them.

Finally, just to top it off for the four stars rating, the service was great. Our waitress was extremely friendly and helpful, and the hostess even stopped by a couple times to make sure we were okay. Can't ask for much more than that.

So yeah, if you're hunting for a place in the area that's a little classier than Hsin Hsin, this is your place.

Cafe 47 gets only 4 stars due to the lack of beverage selection....... I am not a wine lover, although I am trying to become one and I don't prefer beer with my meals..... on to what they do have, and that is tasty, easy food and friendly service. When I walked into Cafe 47 on Sunday at 11:01 am, it was completely empty, save the staff. The hostess asked us where we wanted to sit and brought us our menus and water.
Fortunately, we weren't looking for breakfast, or we would have been disappointed. I had a delicious poached pear salad..... the pears were poached in wine ( I am trying with the wine) and the dressing was amazing, I know, it's just salad dressing, but really, it was that good, the candied walnuts were sweet and not coated in a sugary glaze, as they are most places. The coffee was strong and delicious, the service was fast and friendly, the location is convenient to the important things in life...... Sweet and Puma.........
If you are looking to gorge yourself or have a martini, this is not the place for you. If you want delicious salads, pizza, sandwiches and friendly service, stop by Cafe 47.

I must start off by saying that while this place is great, I still miss dirty ol' Despina's the only place in the neighborhood to get your late night fix until 3am on weekends...*sigh*...but I digress.

Cafe 47 is charming, with it's dark wood furniture, open faced brick and red ceiling, mixed with soft lighting and a cute little bar.  I came here for lunch with a friend because I couldn't resist and definitely will be coming back for dinner.

Their prices are superb.  Everything on the lunch menu is around 8 dollars?  It's true!  And the food is delightful.  I had the chicken caesar wrap and it had perfectly grilled chicken and a light caesar dressing that had just the right amount (I hate when there's too much).  My friend ordered the baja shrimp salad and she won.  It was so flavorful and unique.

It's just such a lovely little spot that I can imagine going to for any occasion.

Cafe 47 is a great new addition to Back Bay and a wonderful alternative to sub-par sandwich, sandwich, and pizza places in the area.

The renovations to Cafe47 are gorgeous. I love the red hardwood floor, bar seating, selection of wines and beers, and their ability to change from casual to sit-down dining in the evening. And yes, they're even going to have pizza until 1AM for those of us who crave that sort of thing on a Saturday night :)

I had a very yummy and reasonable Cafe47 salad with grilled chicken. I loved the variety of vegetables (lettuce, onion, tomato, carrot, etc.), and the chicken was perfectly grilled, thinly sliced, and all white meat. I'm very picky about chicken, and this receives my approval!

I look forward to going back and trying their dinner, as well as pizza. Will update my review then!

RIP Despi's you will be missed. However the Cafe 47 is still using the same dough recipe for the pizza, so don't be too concerned.

Having been a customer of Despina's Place for quite some time I was sad to see it close down and a little apprehensive to see what would be filling the space, but now having eaten at Cafe 47 a few times I am more than happy with the results.

Cafe 47 is a contemporary, relaxing, casual dining space. The menus for lunch and dinner are simple, small, and delicious. I've eaten the turkey panini (I think i did, it was awhile ago) and the angus burger, and picked at friends' salads and dishes. All of items were top notch. Also, the selection of beer is pretty sweet. Most of it is only available in bottle but i'll take it, I don't really mind all that much.

The renovation to the space and the style absolutely blow me away. Mainly I was used to Despi's for so long, but to now see such a contemporary and tasteful interior is just amazing. All the colors were well thought out with dark earth tones (browns and some reds) and with the addition of the bar in the rear was a nice touch. Place has a real comfy atmosphere.

I hope Cafe 47 stays around for quite some time!

Went here for dinner with a friend.

Cute little place, nice casual atmosphere.  Looks like it gets a nice local crowd.

My friend had the pizza, and said it was decent.  It looked good.

I had a pasta dish with shrimp.  It was very good.  I rarely finish a whole plate at a restaurant, so eithe rI was really starving, or this was really good.

I could see myself becoming a regular if I lived in the neighborhood.

What a wonderful addition to the neighborhood! Cafe 47 is a chic little spot, with awesome ambiance, food & drinks to round it out! The staff are all super nice and attentive, and overall it was a wonderful time.

Around the back is a sizable bar, great for grabbing a glass of wine if you need to wait a bit for a table, or talking over some drafts & appetizers.

The food is wonderful and the prices are UBER reasonable. The most expensive dish is only $18, with most entrees around $12-14. Our table tried the burger, chicken parmigana and vegetable risotto, which all got rave reviews. Everything we saw coming out of the kitchen smelled and looked amazing. I can't wait to go back and try out some of the other stuff on the menu! The wine list is expansive, well put together and also very affordable with lots of bottles around the $30 range.

Serving cupcakes from Sweet next door among the dessert lineup, how can you go wrong?? Hit this place as soon as you can-- I think it's going to be a huge hit!

I am leaving the Boston area and went to Cafe 47 for a going away dinner wtih six girlfriends.  Overall, I enjoyed the place and would definitely go back.

There were seven of us and it took a while for everyone to arrive, decide on wine, order appetizers, order dinner, etc.  The waitress was great - very helpful and patient with our large, indecisive party.

We had a couple appetizers and then pizza (can't comment on the entrees).  The eggplant rottini was awesome.  Spinach dip and calamari didn't blow me me away.  The pizzas were very good, but our order got mixed up so the toppings weren't all in the right place - delicious regardless!

There have been some negative comments on the service, but I thought our waitress was good and very friendly.  Also the owner stopped by to say hello, which was nice.

They probably still have a few kinks to work out, but I think Cafe 47 is a great addition to the Back Bay dining scene!

Went on Saturday night around 8pm with a group of 4. I had called ahead and spoke with the host who said she would try and reserve a table for us - i guess they don't do real reservations - but it worked. The place is pretty small with less than 20 tables inside. small bar in the back you can sit at and the kitchen is partly open. The decor is very pretty/classic and it is a very inviting environment. Not overly trendy or dark or loud.

The food was very good. We all had pasta dishes. I especially enjoyed the shrimp dish and the veggie risotto. They don't have a full bar just wine and beer. Overall it was a great experience and a good price. I would def return.

I am coming out Yelp semi-retirement for this one.

Cafe 47 is the neighborhood restaurant/bar redefined. Who said that the neighborhood restaurant has to be a dingy greasy spoon? My partner and I decided to try Cafe 47. Needless to say we were very impressed with the service, quality of the food and the overall look of the place.

Beth I was not impressed with the margarita pizza (it was good just not impressive) However,  the Eggplant Rollatini and the fried cheesecake were outstanding. I still give you five stars because we had one of those evenings when everything goes well and you just get to enjoy yourself.

As far as the look on the place I must say you guys did an excellent job...it is  elegant  and simple...wish you much success and rest assure we will be back. I am already planning to take one of our friends and her mother there next time she is in town. We'll pay you a visit before then though.

More like 3.5 stars, but I liked it enough to round up.

I stopped in for dinner on Friday night with two friends and was pleasantly surprised that there was no wait for a table even at 7pm on Marathon weekend. The restaurant itself is very cozy, although a bit dark, with a nice bar area in the back. There was a decent selection of very reasonably priced wines by the glass, although my head definitely felt a little weird later as a result of consuming a glass of the cheapest white wine on the menu (note to self, next time go for the the second cheapest).

Dinner was very good - I had the Chicken Pomodoro, which was grilled chicken, feta, tomatoes, and basil over penne; it was light and very tasty. I couldn't finish all of the pasta, but I didn't have that awful food coma feeling either. One of my dining companions had the pesto tortellini, which she pronounced to be very good (and cleaned the plate), and my other friend had the spinach and bacon pizza which earned a "meh" from her mostly due to the fact that the pieces of bacon were miniscule. We elected to go next door to Sweet for dessert, but the desserts and espresso at Cafe 47 were tempting.

I wasn't blown away, but it was a nice atmosphere for a laidback dinner with friends, and it is a great addition to the area. I spend a lot of time in the neighborhood since it is centrally located for my group of friends, so I could see Cafe 47 becoming a more regular dinner stop for us. Now that I think about it - bread would have been a really nice addition to the meal, so that would probably get that 1/2 a star from me.

I really dig this place. Nice little neighborhood pizza-type joint, but with a nice Back Bay flare. It feels very neighborhoody compared to many of the Newbury St. places with far too many tourist types.

Very friendly and laid-back atmosphere, but this is also where the one star comes off. The staff do tend to engage in loud conversations and be too buddy-buddy with some people in there, so that if you're not part of that conversation and are functioning more as a regular customer, it can be hard to get their attention. Professionalism is not their best attribute. Not a huge issue all-around though.

Love their basic three-cheese pizza. Light and air crust, minimal grease level is a breath of fresh air.

Nice wine list.

LOOVE the red floors. Owner is often there and is a very nice lady.

This is a once a week or at least bi-weekly spot for me. Of course, it doesn't hurt that I'm less than a block away.

Nothing much to add other than the other reviews are spot -on!

Great atmosphere, was packed on a weds night.  There is NOTHING in its price range/ value/setting  in the neighborhood so this is a very welcome addition, though I will miss late night cheese steaks from the previous Despina's, Im going to hold on to those take out menus for while :-(

Food wise

The Eggplant appetizer is outstanding and the Chicken Parm. was juicy and not at all dried out, Roasted Beet salad was a winner, the only regret was the Salmon w/ red pepper sauce and Risotto, the salmon was on the fishy side of 'best if used by' and the risotto was just too busy with too many mixed flavors.

Will certainly go back for another round as the pizzas looked amazing

Only been here once--it's actually a really refreshing atmosphere for Mass Ave. It's small and intimate and has a very personable feel. There aren't too many tables and a small bar. The menu is diverse, the food is good, and the staff is really friendly. The prices are excellent as well. It's nothing unbelievable, but it's a pretty nice, quick, inexpensive sit-down dinner.

This review is based on my experience with TAKE OUT ONLY. I was hungry tonight, felt like pizza, read some good reviews on Yelp, ordered a small BBQ Chicken Pizza for myself. Food was ready 20 minutes later. Owner Beth greeted me and was very friendly. The pizza was very tasty. Crispy crust, good BBQ sauce, tasty onions, quality chicken and just the right amount of cheese to make it nice and gooey. I ate the whole thing and am now super stuffed. Probab y hould have a slice or two for tomorrow. For $8.50 I'm sold. Will definitely be checking out their other pies in the future.

My brother and I went in for lunch today, and we were literally the only people dining, which I didn't take as a good omen. I guess it's just that this place isn't found out, because the veggie wrap I had was delicious, filled with a generous portion of hummus and fresh-tasting veggies. The french fries in particular were awesome. Inside is nice enough, though the atmosphere was slightly blah. Check it out.

My friend and I were having a serious burger craving, so we decided to check out Cafe 47.  The decor is chic and the staff is quite friendly and attentive.  While I would definitely come back, I don't think their burgers are anything to write home about.  They were pretty standard, although I did enjoy the option of mashed potatoes.  Their prices were also quite reasonable.  I think this is for sure a good place for a date or a dinner with pals.
