With Chef Sean Thomas at the helm, this diner is promised a consistently delicious experience.
Cafe 150, named of course because of its decision to only serve food they can procure from within a 150 mile radius, is creative and low carbon footprint.
Bravo Team 150!

So... a lot of the time i don't actually care about the food at Cafe 150. I'd still eat there every day just to hang out with the staff. I mean, don't get me wrong, the food's great and fresh and i can always find something good, but i just go for the people. Listing things i'll miss when i leave Google, they're definitely in the top 5.

I used to come to Cafe 150 almost daily and the food here has always been delicious. I love that the chefs here are obsessed with local, sustainable food items and they are passionate about the taste and preparation of the dishes. They also know how to cook both unique/exotic dishes and old time favorites (like fries!).

On another note, I saw my then crush (now boyfriend!) here once and I ran away like a scaredy cat! Later when I mentioned that I had seen him there and was too shy to say hi, he told me he actually saw me scurrying away. Haha!

Cafe 150 is absolutely an experience of fine dining - they take their food seriously here. Case in point: they had some onion/Gruyere tarts (served in puff pastry) and I asked the server if he recommended them and he replied that they were "beautiful."

But despite all the obsession with food, they have a good sense of humor - Cafe 150 is more affectionately called Cafe One Fiddy by the locals...

One of my favorites of the Google cafes.

Eat anything they make that comes in a puff pastry!

Some items I've had, I still think about. Like a light calamari, the time Nate made some Japanese hand rolls himself, and some incredible seared ahi encrusted with black sesame seeds.

Show up early to get the best dishes. When something is good, it's gone before 12:30.

The desserts are also quite remarkable. And except for the cookies, they almost never repeat the desserts!

In all fairness, I should mention: only Google employees and their guests can eat here. Don't drive out to the corner of Charleston and Shoreline with your wallet thinking you can check it out. You have to know someone who works at Google to invite you to lunch here.

If you're lucky enough to know at least one Googler, also try out Nate's other Google restaurant, American Table. Scott Giambastiani's two cafes, Cafe 7 and Cafe Moma, also get five stars from me.

Lasagna in a puff pastry. WYLD!
Taco Bell Bellbeefer, recreated from the depths of fast food heaven. WYLDER!
All food within a 150 mile radius of Google. TOTALLY WYLD!

This is where the tru ballers eat on the Google campus since the food is truly rockstar level. Out of the cafes I have been to at Google, Cafe 150 continues to set the bar and push ahead into new territories using only the finest ingredients: truffle oil, mac n' cheese and heavy use of puff pastries.

I love this place.
As the other reviews state, everything comes within 150 miles.
The combinations are interesting.

One of the top restaurants on the peninsula, Cafe 150, is tucked away in a small office building on the periphery of the Google.com campus.

It's a fairly innovative concept, all the ingredients come from within a 150-mile radius of the restaurant. The food is quite tasty exceeding even the standards of the main Google cafe. The menu varies daily, past dishes included corn-bread stuffed quails, seared ahi tuna, and fried polenta cakes.

Since most food is personally served by Nate Keller's team of chefs, the lines tend to be very very long. Try get there right at 12 or after 130 if possible.

DISCLOSURE: I am employed currently by Google.

Just eating here, you can learn about local agriculture and the seasonality of foods.  Great vegetarian and vegan selections. In house made sauces, ketchup, (tried the grilled onion marmalade?)... craxy delicious entrees with creative flair such as the classic lasagna with braised short rib meat inside... custom tossed salads with the best of local, organic produce... theme days (persian, thai, breakfast for lunch, down south) they even did a whole week where each day was themed by a different region of Mexico. Anfd the staff there is amazing, funny and even accomodate sspecial requests when they can. Finally, what happens to table scraps, dirty paper napkins etc... it gets collected when you return the dishes and used for compost.

If Michelin only knew...

Oh yea, and it's totally free! But, you do have to work at Google or be a guest of a Googler.

The concept (all food is from within 150 miles), the quality (the best cuts of everything), the chefs (best imaginations ever), and the location (within 100 feet from my office) are the reasons Cafe 150 gets five stars. I make my way here every day for lunch and would never think of going anywhere else!

Cafe 150 is one of the further cafes from the core Googleplex, but it's usually worth the walk.  Their creations are always ambitious and very interesting--- I've never been bored by Cafe 150.  I have to ding them a star, though, for two reasons:

#1, all of the Google Cafes are buffet style, and as a result the dishes have been sitting out and are often past their best.  Its not fair to the bay area's many other great restaurants to give sometimes lukewarm, soggy food 5 stars, no matter how well prepared.

#2, Cafe 150 makes something totally new and creative every single day.  I love that, but when every meal is an experiment, they can't all succeed.  Some of the creations don't work, and there are other restaurants in the bay area that are more consistently excellent, albeit less of an adventure.

Then again, it IS free.  :)
