Always a must for us when we're in the neighborhood. Sitting on the balcony overlooking the Louvre is just fabulous.

Cafe Marly actually isn't a cafe. I have a feeling "Marly" is mediocre in french. It's actually just a place where you pay to sit down and look at one of the most beautiful museums in the world, and food is included.
In all seriousness, I was really disappointed. The food was just really...bad and over priced. I had the croque madame and the caesar salad. The croque madame was just average, like, not worth $15 or whatever it was. The caesar salad had too much of a fish taste to it. Not enough to pique my fish allergy but enough to where it just didn't taste good.
The service was nice, and obviously the setting is amazing. Because normal things like bathrooms and seating are charged for in Europe, I honestly would have paid a couple bucks to just sit here and enjoy coffee and be away from crowds. It's that cool of a setting.
Sorry Cafe Marly, but you're not Louvre worthy at all. -

Paris is priceless! ...and pricey! You only live once, so when in Paris, treat yourself to indulging your senses in the beautiful architecture surrounding you, even if it costs a bit! I go to le Cafe Marly every time I am in Paris (twice a year, from CA, USA), but I don't go to le Louvre every time. Also, I watch my euros, but splurge on petit hotels with charm (think Ile St. Louis!); I don't go to Michelin restaurants, I seek out cafes that ooze with charm and order from the menu du jour, like the French do!
Enjoy the ambiance, and you will love Paris! -

Beautiful place to sit and have a drink (or coffee) with a friend and enjoy the view of the Louvre! My friend and I went here at night and had a great time taking pictures, drinking out beer, and enjoying the view that Paris has to offer. We sat outside to get an even better view.
Not 5 stars because the waiter was a bit rude. But i guess thats normal since its Paris... -

EXPENSIVE! Food is not good.
The only thing good about this place is the hostess, who reminded me of Chanel Iman, who was super friendly and helpful. But it was all downhill from there. -

Picture this: a restaurant-cafe situated within The Louvre with a courtyard view of the gorgeous, glass pyramid designed by master architect Ieoh Ming Pei. There are two tables.
Table A
Here sit patrons basking in the architectural eye candy and thrilled that they're in La Ville-Lumière, sitting at a beautiful cafe in The Louvre. It's true they are American tourists but even they're not stupid enough to expect the food at this cafe to be exceptional cuisine. They dine on their pasta, which is actually decent but not the most magnifique dish they've had. The service is friendly, fun and attentive. They pay the bill, (with content tummies) mindful that the majority of it was for the ambience.
And the fact that they were DINING IN THE LOUVRE.
Table B
Here also sits an American tourist but he's lost touch with the fact that he has a view that majority of people in this world only see in pictures and all he does is (pardon my "French") b*tch about how nothing there is good enough for his oh so refined American palate and that his flight attendant friend should have known better than to recommend such a horribly overpriced place to enjoy his stingy@ss's visit to Paris. And so forgetful is he that it is mother-effing PARIS. Nothing is cheap here - even the privilege of breathtaking views while stuffing your face. I guess if you've been here and you still can't spell "Louvre" correctly, you're a lost cause anyway.
We were at Table A. Which table would YOU rather sit at?

I regret coming here when I visited the Lourve museum. This place is steps away from the pyramid entrance of the Lourve and I think it's the only way this place gets customers. Can I just be stingy and not give any star...?
The price is sooooooo not right... Sure they have nice view with patio seating and cute waiters to look at.. but C'mon.... the menu is pretty trashed with fast-food choices... except the price... most items were priced as if this is 3 Michelin stars place....
Oh well, I learned my lesson listening to flight attendant's recommendation... she's a friend... LOL....
Don't go here unless you're starved to death and can't make it out of the door without foods... -

Prices are almost shockingly high, but you're paying for the location, of course, as well as the food. I scrimped and ordered the Croque Madame, which was just fine. I did feel pretty posh sitting at my table with a view of the courtyard of the Louvre and Eiffel Tower in the distance. I probably would not eat here on a future trip to the Louvre (unless I were being treated)!

Beautiful place to sit and enjoy a coffee while looking at the Louvre. Very touristic crowd but who cares when you are in this beautiful place. Service is bad but average for Paris

used to be very hot when it first opened in the late '90's. then, glam models and Paris' bon ton packed it's tables day and night(5 star scene). beautiful location in the Marly wing of the Louvre fronting the I M Pei-designed pyramides. but as in most of the Costes-brothers-styled food fiefdom in the city, expect expensive but ordinary fusion cuisine. and the snobby service you've all heard about.

the location is beautiful - on the side of the main entrance to the Lourve, one gets to sit there and watch, food - the pasta dish with pesto and tomatoes was perfectly done, with a beer, it was just a perfect day for me but not at a small cost - you clearly pay a lot for the location, s staff are very nice and attentive and really tries to converse in English unlike some other places... which I do appreciate given that my French is extremely basic

I've eaten lunch here on many trips and have always enjoyed my meals. The service is slow by American standards, but it is very French not to hurry through a meal. My favorites here a foie gras as an appetizer and either a salad or the skewers for an entree. And how could you not enjoy the view..after all your eating in the Louvre! If your traveling on a budget you may feel the prices are high, after all the euro is worth more the the dollar right now. But eat here at least once, have some wine, take your time and savour the experience. And please..pick something French from the menu, not a burger! You'll be happy you did!
