Sherman Oaks, CA
Decent Thai food. Good happy hour specials made this a worthwhile weekday dinner spot.
Menu choices are pretty limited, but all the essentials are there.
Ambience was cozy and low key. Not a lotta sit-down customers, but definitely lots of pick-up and deliveries.
Prices are moderately higher than I expected, although I'm unfamiliar with the prices in the area.
I would definitely prefer this place over the one across the street. -
Review from Jerry T.
I was excited about trying Café Linda's after reading the reviews on Yelp. I love Thai food and am always interested in trying a new twist on one of my favorite cuisines . . . that said, I was not blown away.
My partner and I had lunch at Café Linda's on our recent trip to the LA area. I found the offerings to be nothing particularly new in the world of Thai. If you are going to bill yourself as "a new era in Thai cuisine", I expect more creativity and less pedestrian Thai fare. It just was, well . . . Thai. Nothing new, nothing special - just good, middle-of-the-road Thai.
I wasn't disappointed in anything, I wasn't blown away by anything. My disappointment was only in the expectation of something new and creative - and I didn't feel as if this was at all creative. Maybe I've been spoiled by some of the creative and excellent Thai restaurants in Philly, but for me - this was just average.
The service was efficient, but not very friendly.
If I were in the area and friends wanted to stop here, I'd comply. However, if it were my choice, I'd probably not make it a top selection. -

Pasadena, Los Angeles, CA
We ordered a delivery of super spicy Linda's fried rice, super spicy pad Thai, garlic tofu and Thai iced tea.
Fried rice and pad Thai were not even close to being mildly spiced (and the fried rice was a little sweet . Not sure if that's how their version tastes so I will ignore that). And the chicken was too rubbery.
The one who delivered the order forgot to deliver Thai iced tea and they delivered some kind of chicken dish instead of tofu.
Overall an average tasting food and not so attentive staff. -

Los Angeles, CA
I enjoy Thai food so I was excited about this restaurant based on the reviews. My wife and I rode the gold line to Pasadena after a nice time at National Train Day at Union Station. Since Linda's is right around the corner from the Memorial Park stop we figured we had made a lucky find. We were sadly disappointed with the food at Cafe Linda's.
Pros:
Happy Hour between 5 and 7..
All appetizers for $5 and any drink two for one,
Service was pleasant
Cons:
Appetizer calamari was overcooked and chewy.
Railroad fried rice was okay at best..it was bland...
U.F.O. - supposedly marinated barbequed chicken. Had no flavor to it and it was dry. The sauce tasted like it was straight from a bottle.
The pros make it barely a two, probably would be a 1.5 if I could. Pleasant service and special deals don't help if the food is blah. We would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes flavorful Thai food. We have no desire to return. -

Don't let this restaurant's name fool you. Having lived in Thailand and taken Thai cooking lessons, I can say that Cafe Linda's serves up legitimate Thai food. How can you tell? Instead of using salt, they use "nam plaa." This is how they do it in Thailand. Wondering what that is? Visit Thailand to find out!
I ordered the PANENG, a sweet curry dish, with brown rice. Take a chance and venture away from the standard red curries and definitely try this dish. You won't regret it. The only drawback to this place is the small dining area; it's a bit tight but cozy.
Cleanse your palette with KHAO NIAO MAMUANG (mango+sticky rice), a dessert dish sweetened with coconut milk. -

Tustin, CA
A fairly decent Thai Restaurant.
I went for happy hour, which is the only time I would ever go again because the price is a bit steep.
The 5 dollar appetizers during happy hour let's you try a bit of everything. I got the "Three Musketeers" which was a sample plate of the Thai spring rolls, fried tofu, and curry pouches. Curry pouches = bomb, very good. I also got Satee Chicken which was also excellent.
I ordered one entree to share with the bf, which was the Drunken Noodles. It seemed to be a more popular dish but for me it wasn't anything special. It tasted something similar to what my mom makes at home (which is stir-fry Pho noodles with veggies and oyster sauce). There was a right amount of sauce to noodle ratio though so that was good.
In any case, all the food tasted tasted fresh and a lot more authentic than what I'm normally used to. For that, i would go back during happy hour. -

Napa, CA
What a superb meal! Every dish was delicious and, upon mention of a typical Thai glass noodle salad which wasn't on the menu, they offered to make it for us - it was perfect! GO, GO to this restaurant. There is another Thai restaurant across the street (Cha Da Thai) - walk in and smell the old grease and fishy odor, then do as we did and cross the street! We were blessed with a great meal and great service at Cafe Linda's! $9 corkage - a rarity in our area.
Regarding their pricing, I couldn't imagine spending time in my kitchen preparing such a delicious meal for two for less than $50 (including corkage and 25% gratuity)! -
Review from Jackie K.
Cafe Linda's was really good. Came here with 3 other girlfriends and it was portioned perfectly, healthy portion that is. You don't feel stuffed here which is great. We started with chicken on a stick served with peanut sauce. The appetizer comes with 5 skewers. Then for the main dishes we got original pad thai, yellow chicken curry, and fried rice. The food was good. Portions are smaller than expected. It is not take out portions. Do not come here if you want to feel stuffed. I really liked the chicken curry. It was super yummy. It came with naan-like bread.
Ask for hot sauce if you want some spice to your meal. I LOVE hot sauce. The restaurant itself is very very small. I think at most you can fit about 20-30 people at a time and that is PACKING IT. The service was great. The women who work there are very nice and always on top of their serving.
Parking is a bit of a hassle. On busy nights, street parking is hard so just park in the structure. While driving, Cafe Linda's is a bit hard to find since the restaurant itself is really small. -

It was an okay place for Thai food. Very quaint an cozy atmosphere. Nice ambience for a quiet date night (which is why I added the 4th star).

Review from Ami S.
I'm pretty cut throat these days with Thai food. I'm sorry yelpers but I really don't understand what constitutes this place to be 4 stars? Aside from the cuteness of the restaurant and having a NY style feel the food just didn't cut it for me! With all the great places in Pasadena, I'm really surprised this place got so many great reviews. I really found the food to be very $$$ for Thai food. NO FLAVOR. The chicken had a strange after taste. Our noodle dish hardly had any veggies in it. I also didn't like the way the tofu tasted. Sorry we will not be back.

Pasadena, CA
Cafe Linda is a nice, quaint restaurant located next to a Nepalese restaurant and across the street from a large Thai/Sushi bar restaurant. I came here for lunch and this restaurant quickly filled up shortly after opening. They have several tables that can be pieced together to accomodate large groups, but it's ideal for parties of 2, 2.5 or 3. They had a large lunch special selection.
We ordered the Thai boxer based on past reviews, which were legitimate - Thai boxer is a savory green curry, hint of spice, with green beans, tofu and chicken. It was a good selection. The other lunch selections that we made (Chicken and Basil Beef) were good, had nice flavor, but nothing too exciting.
Yet the Thai Boxer made me a fan of this restaurant, hidden away from the other places on Arroyo Parkway and Colorado. I'm planning on coming back and trying more from there both their lunch and dinner menu. -

I came here after a long run when I was craving noodles and super, duper hungry. Thank goodness it did not disappoint! The Pad Thai was nothing short of spectacular, with chicken AND shrimp (usually something you have to choose between) it was the perfect amount of tangy, sweet and a little spicy. The Tom Yom Gai (chicken) was out of this world and of course the Singha hit the spot. The portions, price, taste, and service were all beyond expectations. I would absolutely come here again.

Very cool place with cozy and personal atmosphere. Linda is charming, friendly, and helpful with choices.
Food was delicious and attractively plated.
Chicken Sate, hot mermaid, and Papua salad were perfect.
Cafe Linda's is a must when looking for delicious Thai cuisine in Pasadena. -

South Pasadena, CA
Not the best or most authentic Thai food, but good for the area and it's clean.
A bit expensive for the portion size and rice is an additional charge, but they do have a brown rice option.
I did enjoy my meal (albeit I was starving), but I probably would not come again unless someone wanted to. I probably would head over to president Thai and get my spicy on :) -

Los Angeles, CA
If you go here, get the Hot Mermaid. I wish I had gotten it, I had a bite of someone else's. I don't know anything about authenticity of Thai food, but the food here was solid I thought. I had the Thai Boxer, which was not as spicy as I expected. This place is TINY; a shoebox far back in Old Town on Holly St.

The restaurants on Union and Holly streets off Colorado in old town pasadena has really become one good surprise after another. This one is no different. Nestled on the quiet Union street (vs. the noisy touristy colorado) lies this little thai eatery. When we got here, we just made happy hour, with $5 appetizers and 2 for 1 drinks. We hurriedly started on the grilled eggplant (with an amazingly decadent sauce with herbs/spices in a combo we never expected and way tastier than eggplant usually is) and the calamari (with a sweet and spicy thai dipping sauce), and knew we had chosen a great place for dinner. The main dishes also did not disappoint. From a tofu tom yum soup with just the right amount of spices, to the pad thai that reminds us of some of the best thai places we had in chicago, to the drunken noodles with huge prawns, Linda (whoever she is) is doing thai right.
Once our initial excitement subsided (perfectly coinciding with our stomachs filling to a critical level), we did note that the dishes were slightly salty. This was compounded by our sudden realization that we didn't have any water (sake can only substitute so much). This was quickly fixed, however, by a very busy hostess/waitress. Which brings us to our final point: this was one of the first places in Pasadena to have good service. Requests were fulfilled timely, the check brought quickly, the dishes cleared away at appropriate times. As a customer, you notice every little thing. Keep up the good work! -
Review from Anita C.
Stopped by this cozy little strip planning on eating at Tibet Nepal House until we realized they only offered their lunch buffet at the time, which I wasn't feeling. So, I whipped out my handy dandy Yelp app and came across this place and decided to give it a shot.
The ambiance here is clean and quite modern, but the entire restaurant itself is SO small. I think the maximum capacity could be no more than 20 people. It's definitely not good for big groups..it's geared more towards couples or a hangout session with one or two of your friends.
There are lots of Thai restaurants in my area, so Cafe Linda's menu was a bit on the pricier side. (I would recommend coming during their lunch specials which are offered on the weekdays until 3:30pm -- *NOTE* THEY ARE CLOSED MONDAYS).
I thought their food would be pretty standard, but I was actually very surprised by the overall taste of the dishes. It tasted more authentic, fresh, and better flavored/spiced than any other Thai food places I've been to. I think the price was worth paying for if you want quality Thai food.
I would recommend the Drunken Noodles (reminds me of Pad See Ew, but with a kick of basil/chili) & Cafe Linda's Fried Rice. -

Los Angeles, CA
Love this tiny little place! There are so many Thai places all over LA county, but when I am in Pasadena, I would highly recommend coming here. Perfect for a date; the decor is modern and romantic for dinner because it's all just so quaint.
I love the Papaya Salad, their Pad Thai is nothing less than authentic, and the railroad fried rice has pineapples in it which is pretty fantastic (you just have to order to see.)
Soup: The Tom Kha is a staple at any Thai restaurant and I happen to love theirs :)
Enjoy! -

I came here for a Sunday late lunch with my mom. There was next to nobody in the restaurant, which is everyone else's loss because this was sublime. I had the crusted salmon and it was excellent, spicy, and interesting. I couldn't get enough of it! My mother had similar raves for her salad. I highly recommend it! It was the ideal spot for a low key, flavorful lunch.

Pasadena, CA
I hardly ever order Thai delivery, because 1) most places that serve it try to make their food as Americanized as possible, and therefore too sweet. 2) I feel terrible for all the styrofoam containers that are generated
Cafe Linda's has delicious and authentic Thai food, very flavorful and not too oily -- try the panang tofu curry, the pad kee mow, the papaya salad, or the pud see ew. Heaven in your mouth. Reasonably priced and on time.
Best of all, I don't feel guilty ordering from this place because they send their food over in microwave-and-dishwasher-safe containers that you wash and reuse or put in the recycle bin (they are the right PET). Go Linda's! -

Pasadena, CA
This little place is easy to miss if your not from the area. It's tucked away in a nice quiet corner of Holly and Fair Oaks across from Subway. We always go here for lunch since they have a good lunch menu starting at $7.95.
Quick Tip: Make sure to order your food before you get here if you decide to dine. That way you can also reserve a table and so that your food would be ready. I think the capacity is around 20 people. You could always just order the food to go as well. -

Pasadena, CA
Best hole-in-the-wall Thai restaurant I've been to! This place is small (like, really small) but the food is SO worth any wait you'd have to endure.
All of their dishes are beautiful and tasty! It's also "fusion," with great takes on a lot of traditional dishes. -

Alhambra, CA
Came here for dinner with a group of friends and we literally took up half the restaurant. Tiny, but cute and cozy Thai restaurant in Old Town Pasadena. Pricy for Thai food though, and many would perhaps find not worth it.
Parking can be troublesome and expensive in this area. If you're not big on traffic and pedestrians, best to avoid eating here. You can find plenty of excellent Thai restaurants elsewhere. And of course, there is Yelp to thank for that :) -
Review from Toni L.
It's not going to blow your socks off and is a bit on the pricey side for Thai, but overall I had a good time here.
Food: After asking the waitress for some recommendations, we went for the Drunken Noodles (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) and this flaming chicken dish called Phoenix in Flames (http://www.yelp.com/bi..., http://www.yelp.com/bi...). The Drunken Noodles were fantastic. Imagine large pillowy strips of noodles drenched in a spicy, savory sauce. I think we were practically drinking the sauce toward the end. The chicken dish was also pretty cool. They bring the dish out and set it ablaze by pouring what I think is flavored alcohol onto the top. Once the fire burns out you're ready to eat. Each bite of meat was tender, delicious, and reminiscent of BBQ. Plus, you can eat the greens on which the chicken sits if you need some veggies in your diet.
Atmosphere: I am assuming this is why you are paying the extra cash. The Drunken noodles were 10 bucks and the Phoenix was about 13. Anyway, it's nice inside, a good place to take a girl on a date if she likes really low key places. You can tell it's pretty authentic because the majority of customers I saw were actual SE Asian families. I love the chunky, white dishes they use. They really class up a meal.
Service: Great. I loved the recommendations we got and our waitress was super nice.
Synopsis: Pretty good, but somewhat on the average side. I guess I care about ambiance less than I thought. -
Review from Vera L.
Pasadena, CA
Stumbled into this nice little place and left a much happier person, that's the magic of good food.
The Interior is clean and modern, the owner Linda friendly and attentive. The food is authentic Thai (nothing like the Americanized Saladang nearby) the soup base for Tom Yum is real stuff, not just water mixed with funky powder. It's a bit on the sweet side but the tanginess is just right.
The green papaya salad looks plain today (compared to photos uploaded by other Yelpers) - a few slices of lemon would neutralize the spiciness and dabs of carrot threads would enhance the visual appeal.
The Green Curry (called Thai Boxer on the menu) goes perfectly with the white rice, you need to come with empty stomach to enjoy it to the last spoonful - recommend ordering an additional bowl of rice.
The Fried Banana was served with flame burning on top, fancy and tasty! -

This quaint small restaurant off of Holly Street in Old Town Pasadena is absolutely delicious. I went here for the first time last night to find they have been in that location for 3 years. I was quite surprised since I'm very much a foodie and love great Thai food (Saladang just doesn't do it for me).
Not only is the decor very fitting in this place, but the owner Linda is quite attentive. We made a point to try an array of appetizers and dishes on the menu. The grilled eggplant, was by far my favorite. The savory taste of lemongrass, sweet and sour, coconut on top of the eggplant was delightful and refreshing. Curry pouches, fried tofu, fried oysters and springs rolls were all fresh and delish!
I will most definitely be back to this spot very soon! Thanks Linda! -

Los Angeles, CA
This place was so unexpected! It's a nice break from the business of Colorado, and the decor is sleek and modern but distinctively Thai. i shared the satay and grilled pork with my friend, and both were delicious. The dishes are interesting Thai inspirations, and while I don't normally like fusion food, these were good.
I liked the lemon grass tea! -

Pasadena, CA
We've only ordered from Cafe Linda once, so we'll definitely be trying them out more often and uping the stars if deserved.
My first impression was good, because they were willing to deliver up to 3miles. We live north of the freeway, so we understand when restaurants don't want to come up this way. Needless to say, the driver received a big tip.
For appettizer, we ordered curry pockets and they were yummy.
Hubby ordered the bbq chicken and says it was average. He also wants to try more items next time and agrees that we can't make a sound judgement by trying one entree.
I ordered the drunken noodles with tofu and they were tasty. The tofu wasn't really seasoned though.
Till next time... -

I love Old Town Pasadena. They always have some awesome hidden treasure tucked away in the corners of this city.
I wouldn't say this place is super authentic Thai food... it is somewhat of a Thai fusion place, but everything is delicious.
Lunch specials are the thing to get. The prices are reasonable and reasonably portioned. I got the chicken coconut curry and my friend got the shrimp spinach. God, the curry pockets were delicious. It is what it is - little heavenly deep fried triangles filled with curry - it's even more delicious dipped in the chicken coconut curry.. The curry had hunks of chicken, potatoes and carrots, all beautifully swimming in the sweet and savory coconut concoction.
I'm drooling now as I write this.
Cafe Linda's is a small, small place with very little seating, so come early and hungry! -
Review from Taylor M.
Bellevue, WA
This is my favorite Thai place in Pasadena, simply because it's a little off the beaten path, the food is yummy, and the interior is adorable. It's a great spot for dates as well as meals with a couple of friends.
The decoration inside the restaurant is very attractive and calming, I love the green colors in combination with the wood. The wait staff is friendly and attentive.
I usually get the Curry Pouches as an appetizer and they are always very tasty. The Drunken Noodles are my usual entree staple, but everything else I've had has also been very tasty, especially Linda's Fried Rice and the Spicy Beef Salad. The last time I went, my boyfriend got the Phoenix in Flames, which comes out on fire and is very showy, but delicious!
Be wary when the menu gives two smiley faces for spiciness, they really mean it! The papaya salad is one excellent example of this extreme spiciness, but it is still delicious if you enjoy spicy food.
All in all, a delicious and relatively inexpensive option for Thai food in Pasadena. Check this place out if you want a break from the usual restaurants in Old Pas, it's only a couple blocks away! -
Review from Andrew F.
Los Angeles, CA
Both the Thai Boxer (green curry with somen noodles on the side) and the U.F.O. (bbq chicken with sticky rice) are delicious. They are pricy at around $13 each, but I was not disappointed by either of these dishes. This would be a good place to bring a date, but maybe a little too intimate for just friends.
Don't get the fried oysters. -
Review from Cat B.
I will admit, I am a novice to the world of Thai cuisine (I'm Italian so yknow, my experience with Thai food is little-to-none).. but Cafe Linda's is the only place I'll go for all my Thai food cravings.
Pad Thai used to scare me... originally I thought it was some super-spicy noodle dish, infested with peanuts. Yikes.. I was so wrong. At Cafe Linda's, Pad Thai is a beautiful blend of noodles, egg, perfectly tender shrimp, chicken, covered in a sweet and tangy sauce, with just enough heat that slowly builds in the back of your throat as you continue to eat. As for the peanuts, they're finely chopped, just enough to to give you a crunch every once in awhile.. I barely noticed they were there (Which is a good thing btw..)
The customer service there is fantastic. They're always welcoming, attentive, and friendly. I don't think our drinks ever reached even half-empty.
On Tuesdays they have $5 appetizers and happy hour at night. Woo!
For the three of us: 2 appetizers, 3 entrées, and 1 beer: $50. We left more than full, and had leftovers to take home! -
Review from Lawrence L.
Covina, CA
Cozy, intimate spot tucked away on Holly St. away from the main hustle and bustle of Colorado Blvd. in Old Town Pasadena. From the bubbling overflowing water vase display to the subdued lighting, this place is perfect for the quiet dinner for two, dating couples would like this place I think.
The menu has the usual Thai staples like Pad Thai and Tom Yum and Panang curry but also adds a more urban flare to the dishes, much more bistro like than family (hole-in-the-wall) style. Along with some catchy names for some of the dishes (e.g. Hot Mermaid, Thai Boxer, Phoenix in Flames...), the menu was actually pretty well rounded. It was my first time here so I let my fellow Yelpers help me decide what to try.
I've heard so much about the Hot Mermaid that I just had to try it. Now I will be the first to admit that I'm a flyweight when it comes to spicy food, especially when it comes to (spicy) Thai food, so I was a bit apprehensive when it had two "smiley" faces next to the description on the menu. The very congenial waitress who served us this evening reassured us that it wasn't too spicy and that the kitchen could tone it down a bit for us if we liked. I really enjoyed the moist flakiness of the white fish fillet that sat on a bed of crisp haricot vert green beans, the sweetness of the sauce is reminiscent of a tomato, pineapple type sauce but with an extra kick to it (and YES, it was SPICY so don't let it go down the wrong pipe!).
I also tried the Tom Kha soup because I haven't had the coconut lemongrass flavored soup in a long time, this one had mushroom in it too and I liked it.
Because we happened to try Cafe Linda's on a Tuesday evening, we were also able to take advantage of their happy hour promotions between 5 and 7pm where it's 2-for-1 drinks and $5 appetizers. She had a glass of the house Merlot and I had an Arnold Palmer (hey, I'm the driver (-; ). A couple of reviews like the Curry Pouches and they were ok but the fried wonton skin was a tad bit on the soggy side. I also liked the Steamed Thai Dumplings, they remind me of siu mai when you go for dim sum. The dipping sauce was sweet and added a subtle flavor to the dumpling.
Also because it was our first time at Cafe Linda's, Yelpers get a surprise dessert: Creme Brulee!! Nice touch.
The waitress and hostess were both very friendly and attentive, terrific.
Parking around Pasadena can be a pain but there is a parking structure on the west side of Raymond Ave 1 block north of the restaurant where the first 90 minutes are free.
I would go back to Thai Linda's if I were nearby. -
