Wow. Try their GNOCCHI DI PATATE CON SUGO D'ANATRA.
Pillowy soft potato dumplings with a rich duck ragout. So amazing.
Wash it down with a glass of cab and you'll be in pure bliss.
They have a cute patio with lots of dining tables. Do it.
Driving by it's easy to miss this place, but you'd be missing out on good food! -

Oh how I love me some Italian food! This place was excellent! From the outside I thought this was going to be a Mexican joint, but the inside said differently.
I came with my boyfriend and another couple so we started with a bottle of wine- the wine list was large and had a variety of selections. The prices weren't too extraordinary either. We were served foccacia bread with an olive spread and it was delicious. The bread was fresh and the spread was flavorful, but not overwhelming.
For dinner I got the pumpkin ravioli and I will probably crave this dish close to every day. The sauce was creamy, but not heavy and the pasta simply melted in my mouth. I think they make their pasta in the restaurant because it is definitely NOT store bought which is nice. The serving size was perfect, not too much, but enough to fill you up. We all finished our plates...
The service was excellent and the waiters friendly. I would definitely recommend this place and will definitely be returning. -

A colleague and I were in the Burbank area for a business trip and wanted to enjoy a nice, comfortable dinner our last night there. Ca Del Sole was recommended to us by our cab driver -- let me tell you, the cabbie must eat well. This place was comfortable, down to earth and the food was quite delicious.
A nice wine selection, homemade pasta and stellar service = great dining experience. Oh and, the duck prosciutto is a must. Would definitely recommend! -

I had the pleasure of attending a family gathering here this past Sunday afternoon and I was impressed with the variety of delicious appetizers that came our way during the gathering. Highlights included the BBQ shrimp, chicken meatballs, bruschetta and a pear and gorgonzola on toast that was wonderfully delicious. What I also found delightful in addition to the food was the lovely back patio where the gathering was held. The event was to pay respect and say good-bye to a very honorable man and I appreciated the restaurant's staff attentiveness and reverence during the gathering. I would definitely go back for either dinner with a client or lunch with my family on a Sunday.

We had a family event at Ca' Del Sole yesterday. We could not be more pleased. The atmosphere, food and service were all top-notch. (escpecially lvoed the bbq shrimp appetizers). The price was very appropriate for what we received. We would definitely have another event there family or otherwise. Thank you for helping make what could have been a sad occasion a celebration.

i recently went back there for dinner, food is consistent but the service can definitely use some help. i am a wino, period. when i reviewed the wine list and the waiter couldn't give me good wine notes or descriptions, i will ask for sample of wine. after all, having a $11-$12 glass of wine is a commitment why should i risk wasting money just because the waiter had no idea what the wine is taste like. when i asked for sample of wine, the waiter came back told me 'they don't do that here" . i was going to decline order any drinks at that point. this is an upscale place i thought, how have the standard fallen. he did gave me small sample after he asked for 'manager approval' . so is that how customers being treated these days? the second thing of fallen standard was when we ordered desserts and they were served, i had to asked twice for my coffee which i ordered along with the dessert when the waiter asked me if i wanted coffee. he brought the coffee after desserts were half-eaten, he said he didn't see the ticket. i fel the service that night was just a missed, or that's typical way people being treated dining here because we are bunch of asian women or what's the story. can't never judge the book by its cover. i typically pretty critical and expect decent standard in both food and service. for i know, this meal i paid $50 per head. i don't believe it's acceptable to have such mishaps like these. destroy restaurant good standard and reputations.

Review from Ron N.
It's that time of the year where vendors I do work with are wining and dining me up the wazoo. Coming here was such a surprise. When I first walked in I asked myself "where the heck am I eating?" The decor looked mad old, I passed by many older customers, and shoot... for a second I thought I was walking thru an old folks home! Slowly but surely I realized that looks CAN be deceiving.
One thing I liked a lot was the stellar service. My table was a bit talkative and needed like 15 min to look thru the menu. Our waiter waited patiently and when it came time to order, he paid very close attention to what we wanted and needed and made sure we were well taken care of.
I ordered the Branzino which is a Mediterranean sea bass filet served with artichoke, diced tomatoes, and garlic white wine lemon sauce. BOMB. It comes w/ a sliced lemon which I mistakenly took a bite of because I thought it was a piece of squash. Very embarrassing to say the least.
Oh, and I liked their red wine selection. Tried a couple glasses of their Cabernet sauv and was very pleased. They also have happy hour... so one day I will most likely chill here to pass time and chill while traffic dies down after work. -

Came here for Valentines and their 60 dollar per person menu.
Valet parking 3.50 right off the bat but try to find street parking
1st entree was the Lobster Bisque I loved it
2nd entree tortellini also great I believe it was with crab meat I could be wrong
in between they threw in some bread with a olive oil mix which was also great got 2 serving
the main course consisted of a filet mignon i ordered it medium and they gave me a large LOL it was also good I made the mistake of asking for steak sauce cause I'm a caveman. The waiter was a very nice young African American gentleman who was very attentive the funny thing was the food servers spent a lot of time looking at the map probably additional unfamiliar seating for Valentines but overall I loved it and I cant wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. Oh yeah my wife liked it also but I guess i had to take her -

This is a lovely place, much better for an relaxed outdoor brunch or alfresco dining in the evening than for a dinner indoors, in my opinion. Stuffy inside, lovely out. I feel like I'm in Italy when I'm there, dining in a garden at some villa. Sorry, I don't have a favorite dish to recommend to you but I've never not enjoyed anything either.

Went to this lil tucked away restaurant this weekend for a friend's birthday and I must say, after spending my time deliberately avoiding Italian establishment for the sheer monotony thanks to my earlier years, I was pleasantly surprised.
I had their chicken, which was nothing short of spectacular. Upon first glance, it didn't appear that it would fill me despite the well-sized portion, but alas, I was wrong. I also got to try their lobster risotto, which was good, but not "I gotta tell everyone about it" good. I heard their beef dishes were delectable, but that's why there's a next time.
One thing I should add is their inept handling of large groups. After witnessing their snafu on Saturday, come here w/ just a few people to avoid headaches. But, if you're looking for some solid Italian food in Toluca Lake, then this is a good spot. -

This is my favorite restaurant ever! Everything on the menu is amazing and the servers are very attentive. We had our engagement party on the back patio here and everyone was very pleased.
Most recently, I brought my 4 1/2 year old son here for a day-early Valentine's Day date night and he absolutely LOVED the food and atmosphere. This is a place I have enjoyed for years with my family and will continue to dine at. -

PORTER RANCH, CA
The fiancee and I were in the area and were looking for a hearty Italian meal and were delighted with what we found..
Service is top notch...you don't find places these days that actually pay attention to their guests ...at ca del sole, they didn't miss a beat..our waiter heard my fiancee say in passing that it was my birthday, next thing you know a birthday dessert appeared after dinner :)
I had the spaghetti with shrimp, mussels, clams in a spicy tomato sauce...perfect portion, tasty sauce and reasonably priced @ ~$14
The insalate di fungi was also light and refreshing...and with loads of mushrooms...the lemon dressing really is a favorite of mine and really hit the spot....salad was a bit pricey, $11, but worth the taste.
My fiancee had the special, which came in a 3 course deal for $26...included a carpacchio as a starter...the entree was pappardelle with bits of filet mignon in a tomato sauce...followed by a chocolate mousse dessert..
Overall, 5 stars for excellent Italian service, good food with excellent portions ( doesn't leave you in a food carb coma) and reasonably priced.
Bon appetite! -

First, for dinner I love the pumpkin ravioli, it's a must try. Its AMAZING.
Second, I went here for brunch and got the boneless ribs with poached eggs. Also, AMAZING. Meat was tender and soft and it went well with the poached eggs. Add some hotsauce and it's amazing. -

Been going to Ca Del Sole for several years. I think the service is friendly. They have a very cute outside patio.
Have some favorite dishes: the octopus salad, homemade sausage w/polenta, whole roasted chicken with potatoes, gnocchi with duck ragout,
also excited that they started offering Gluten Free Pasta to substitute in some of their dishes.
Overall I enjoy coming to this restaurant for a down to earth meal, comfortable setting, good for family dinners. -

This place is beyond adorable. The restaurant is romantic with its dim lighting and elegant decor. Also the food is really good. My personal favorite was the olive spread that comes with warm bread. Yummers!!!!!
Our server was very attentive and all that staff were great.I had the grilled chicken with vegetables. Drool! I loved how crispy the skin was and how the rosemary permeated the chicken and tender vegetables were a perfect pairing. Amazing.
I will be back someday soon to try the gnocchi with meat sauce since others seemed to enjoy it. Check for the update.

This is my favorite restaurant in Los Angeles hands down. The perfect mix of amazing food and great wine and beer selections with the best wait staff and very affordable prices. The menu changes often but they have a select number of dishes that always are there. I am always looking to see what they have on their price fix dinner because it is always an amazing deal. The skirt steak is one of my favorite dishes that they make and I always order it when it is on the menu. The deserts are some of the best out there and always top off the meal perfectly not to mention the espresso. I come here as often as possible and am a huge fan!

I love this place and have been back there several times over the past few years. They have somewhat of a rustic look, so don't expect a modern atmosphere, but their food, drinks and service is excellent. They have a great out-door patio for summer dining as well.
I would highly recommend the "fragolino" from the drinks menu, which is not too sweet, but tangy and refreshing. The Osso Buco is always a good pick, as is any of their ravioli, which they make in house. I haven't tried the entire menu (yet), but in general I find that if I like how a dish sounds I will certainly like the dish. Quite literally everything I've ever had there has been excellent! -

Valencia, CA
This place is way overrated for the price. I had heard great things about this place, but it was terrible. The service was amateur at best, the food was medicore. the ambiance, however, was good. I would find some other italian restaurant and spend less money if I were you.
First, the service was truly horrendous. The waiter interrupted at the most inopportune times. But I could live with that, if that was only the problem. In the middle of me eating a dish, he came up to me and took it away from me and said that it was the wrong dish. He then stated that I had ordered something else (I had ordered the 4 course meal), and that this was somebody else's dish. He didn't give me the option to keep the mistaken dish; he looked like he was going to give the other customer the meal that he gave me (now half eaten). Literally, while I had my fork in the food on the plate, he pulled it away from me and stated that he had made a mistake.
I think he had so many options available: (1) make another dish for the client who was missing the food; (2) suggest to me that this dish was given mistakenly to me, but if I was enjoying it, it would be compliments of the house. (3) wait for me to take my fork out of the food. And so many other choices. You get the point.
Second, the first 2 courses of the 4 course meal were hardly what you would call gourmet. The restaurant is a high end restaurant and the food was what I would expect of a 2 star restaurant. Then, the waiter came to me and asked me how my food was. He saw that I only finished a 1/4 of each dish. He then insisted that the food was great. I kept not answering and confirming his opinion, and just said that I was done. The more I didn't agree that the food was great, the more he kept insisting that it was.
I had the salmon for dinner and it was good. But nothing special. Nothing about the place made me feel special. I paid over $85 for the meal and my friends paid close to $200 per couple. For that price, you should have a lot better in all regards. -

I had dinner here recently with some business guests. YELP did not exist the last time I ate here, so it's been a while.
We shared a few appetizers:
1. Fritto Misto Di Mare (fried calamari, shrimp and vegetable tortelli served with tartar sauce): They need to come up with a more creative sauce than tartar...come on guys.
2. Funghi on Grilled Flat Bread (sauteed wild mushrooms, wild baby arugula, extra virgin oil): lacked flavor to me, but not bad
3. Prosciutto San Daniele on Grilled Flat Bread (aged prosciutto, creamy mozzarella, wild baby arugula): If you like fresh mozzarella, you'll like this
For my entree, I ordered the Linguine Alle Vongole with manila clams, garlic, and white wine sauce. I consider myself an expert with this dish. I found the linguine to be a bit dry and hard and they don't use enough garlic. We had a big group and perhaps my linguine got a little dry because they had to wait for my guests' dish to be ready, so I'll let them slide on this.
Overall, the food was just okay. I just don't have a big desire to rush back there and try other dishes. -

OK. I am a foodie, period. I eat it, I cook it, I studied under a french chef briefly before taking a different path. As such, when my wife and I go out for dinner, we many times will find ourselves a bit disappointed, when we could have "done better ourselves" at home. Ca Del Sole, was AMAZING. The food was phenomenal, the service spectacular. We have already planned our next two trips back. Highly recommend the Sea Bass and Sea Urchin carpaccio, and the braised beef ravioli. You want to eat here!

december 23, 2012 a late dinner after long day. What luck to have come to Ca Del Sole1 I can't remember a more relaxing meal all year. We were 5, all with different tastes. I asked the waiter for good sangiovese. He delivered and it was as smooth as chocolate milk. Service was patient but not at all indifferent--we had PLENTY of timely attention. But I'm writing this because NOBODIES ITALIAN GRANDMOTHER MAKES BETTER GNOCCHI. and I really mean it. It was almost unbelievable it was so good. the other end of the planet from the bubblegum style gnocci you get to chew at some Italian joints. Gotta return for more of that. Everything else was really quite nice. This is one of those DON'T-NEED-TO-KNOW ABOUT-ANYPLACE ELSE. Wish this one was closer to home! to them i say THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

There, you've done it.
Ca' Del Sole, though I'm never sure if I'm pronouncing your damn name right. Is it ca del sole like soul? Or is it Solé with an extra syllable? Irregardless (as my boss likes to say, hee hee) you've entered the upper echelon of our local restaurant choices.
Five stars! [pause for applause]
Everytime we take friends to your establishment they are impressed. A couple of visits ago, we took a friend by for dinner. After the Salumeria appetizer and a couple glasses of good red wine our meal came. After a few tastes of the Cappellacci she ordered (spinach tortelloni with gorgonzola inside) she looked up and said, "This is the best thing I've had in a long time." It was such a genuine moment.
I love your restaurant, and every time we go there is a treat.Listed in: HSH Vol. 3 Burbanxican Pride!, HSH Vol. 5 Life in Slo Mo in…

Lovely atmosphere, staff is very welcoming and friendly, but the food is on the salty side. I had their Venetian-style spaghetti (Bigoli Ca' Del Sole) and it was salty I couldn't finish it. My friend had the Linguine Alle Vongole and she had the same complaint.

This is one of our favorite restaurants! I'm not a ravioli fan, but Ca Del Sole makes some of the best and I find myself always ordering some here.
They also have a tasting menu that's really affordable where you can try all sorts of different and exotic food that you wouldn't normally try otherwise. And it's all so tasty and terrific.
And the desserts are worth saving room for. -

I had been wanting to try this place for SO long! I wish I would have left happier:(
First off, I don't eat full meals, I never have. Either you bring home leftovers, share a plate or deal with the fact you're leaving half your pai8d for items on a plate to be thrown out.
I decided to share a three course meal for $26 with my partner.
The minutes I ordered for us, the waitress was applaud at our request to share. She said it was no problem, although you could tell by her tone that she wasn't happy. The rest of the meal, her service was 'poor.'
We saw a great salad consisting of Goat cheese, caramelized onion, arugula, & grapes. Sounds good right? It came out and looked amazing too, it unfortunately was way too oily and had nearly no taste from the bland vinaigrette dressing.
Second course was the Spada Swordfish. This was a great dish! Light, and fantastic if you like fish (Id recommended no olives, as their taste is too strong for me.)
Our last course was a dish called Fromaggio. It consisted of walnut bread, cheese and fruit. Again very light and good.... not necessarily worth the amount we paid for it.
Probably won't be back here again, disappointing aspects: The service and prices. -
Review from Joel Y.
Encino, CA
We were running late. Our reservation at Katsuya Hollywood was for 7:30, and it was 7:00. We live in Encino. Rats.
We did the right thing and cancelled our Katsuya reservation. (http://Sigalert.com all but laughed when I checked traffic between the Valley and Hollywood -- the travel time exceeded the average human life span.)
With a show at the Key Club to catch at 10:00, our options were slim. We searched OpenTable for an 8:30 reservation in our area, laughing at ourselves for even trying. It was a Friday night, after all.
Miraculously, it seemed, the Gods smiled; An 8:30 reservation was to be had at Ca Del Sole, in Toluca Lake. My (yet-to-be, at the time) wife had taken me to Ca Del Sole just after we'd met, long ago; we both had fond memories of the place. Only in hindsight do I realize that the Gods, while smiling, were also stifling a hearty laugh; Reservations made 90 minutes beforehand on a Friday night do not come without a cost. The 'cost,' in our case, is detailed below:
"I just started," our benign and mostly inert hostess stated as we walked through the doors. "I'm not sure where you should be seated." She pecked at the computer for a few minutes until her trainer arrived. We were then quickly shown to an outside table, which turned out to be situated in the coldest regions of Antarctica.
My wife and I decided to move to a table by a heater, which, though not in the designated outside smoking section, became the designated outside smoking section nonetheless. (It should be known that I am a smoker, but do not smoke in areas -- especially within restaurants -- where smoking is not expected. Honestly, if you have to smoke, take a few steps to the tables with the ash trays. A little walking may do you some good.)
So, as the pungent fumes from Boy George (not necessarily his/her real name, but a fair approximation of his/her exterior) and his companion wafted through virtually every ringlet of our Calamari appetizer, we asked to move again. After this, we finally had a choice location in a semi-enclosed 'tent' at the patio's perimeter. Then a woman, in the tent to our left, started laughing. Or cackling. Or a bizarre, witch-like, and not-of-this Earth combination of the two. Regardless of description, the 'make-the-dogs-cry' sound emanating from this so-called person could have coked an entire meal, sonic-microwave style. Thankfully, she quieted down by the time our main courses arrived. Which took awhile.
You'll notice that none of my complaints so far have anything to do with the food. Unfortunately, this only has to do with the way I've structured my review, and is not an attempt to save the best for last.
The Calamari appetizer, perhaps made better by the infusion of Parliament smoke selflessly bequeathed by Boy George's doppleganger, was listless. Even after being smoked, it had a distinct sogginess only surpassed by an unexpected, fishy flavor. (A squid is not a fish.)
And yes, by the time they arrived, our Rib-Eye's were charred to perfection. However, these purported "dry-aged, prime cuts" were so riddled with gristle that even the mighty T-Rex, had he lived to dine at Cal Del Sole, would have had trouble chewing them.
And the dessert? We didn't even bother.
My comments above should be taken with a grain or two of salt; I still have fond memories of my first visit to Ca Del Sole, when I believe I had one of their pasta dishes (which, at least according to other reviewers, are still excellent).
So, two stars for this recent visit. (The patio setting, when finally free from Boy George and his Parliaments, is truly exquisite.) But four stars given in memory of my first, wonderful visit, years ago.
All together? Three stars.
Just be sure to visit on a Wednesday, and order the pasta. -

498. Ca Del Sole's Yelp review.
...
**********
To finish a review I started in about 1954:
Man was it a lovely day and to top it off with a meeting in the lovely Ca Del Sole was a dream within a dream within a dream, sorta like Inception but less cool and with a less attractive lead character.
Stepping in after valeting my 1982 Honda Civic hatchback I am greeted by what I think is a giant at first but after focusing my eyes I realize it's a normal man.
"Table, or standing room only?" He asks. I smile and show him my badge. He grins and walks me through the kitchen to my dinner party.
"Please announce me." I request. I gesture to my date, who blushes. The host obliges.
"Sirs and madams, the royal family has arrived." He winks at me, and I hand him a Lunchable.
"Grand to be here..." I start with my speech. Halfway through I realize that speeches are better when smoking, so I ask the host before he leaves to open up a window so the kids won't cough. I light up a Parliament.
"A normal man" I continue "would be scared in the face of such elements."
One member of our dinner party gestures for me to sit down and another tells me the window wasn't opened and a small child coughed. I feel bad and I'm ready to go. My date, though, is across the room catching up with an ex that's better looking and makes more money than me. I shout across the table and ask her if she had it better with him and she shrugs and continues to talk to him. I finally sit down, defeated.
"The pasta is great here." I'm advised.
"The drinks are strong" I'm told.
"It's a great date spot." Somebody whispers.
"The outside area you can smoke in and not have children cough."
"A little pricey but you will be able to afford it every now and again."
I order mojitos and smoke cigarettes until my asthma is triggered. -

I have been to Ca Del Sole 3 times in about 11 years living in the area. The first time, in 2002, I sat at the bar with my boss, and I do not remember much. I returned last year for a Bridal Shower Brunch and thought is was lovely. Last week, we went for a Valentine's day lunch, it was good!
Pretty ambiance outside. You feel like you are in another country behind the walls of Ca Del Sole.
The brunch I had last year was outstanding!
Food - 5 stars
Ambience - 5 stars
Service - 5 stars
Lunch on Valentine's Day
Antipasto - Frito Misto and Burrata
Pasta - Pasticchio and Rigatoni
The bread, especially the foccacia is delish, as well as the tapenade.
Food - 3 stars (entree was a little on the over salted side)
Ambience - 5 stars
Service - 3 stars (not busy yet service was inconsistent)
Parking is Valet. Which always makes me chuckle when I can see my car in front of me. $3.50 to park in the lot.
I think Ca Del Sole is a nice place and I will go back, most definitely for brunch! -
Review from Dave M.
I only ate at this place one time. I was working across the street for the week. We went in there for lunch one day.
I had the rigatoni. I thought it was fantastic. In fact, when I got back home I told Precious that we need to find some Italian restaurants or some Italian recipes because we don't eat that much Italian. Since then we've tried a few recipes and found a couple of good restaurants near home.
One thing that I also liked about Ca Del Sole is the service. We went there for lunch. We were in town to work and didn't have a lot of time to enjoy a long sit down lunch. The service was quick, and we were in and out of there in less than an hour.
I'd go back there again if I'm ever in the area.
