West Hartford, CT
I love this place - I think I went like 4 days in a row last month. I'm happy having just this for lunch when it's hot. They have a great selection of fresh fruits, and the small is quite generous. I suppose it is a little pricey as other reviewers have said, but the place is clean, friendly, and the product is good.
On one occasion I even purchased a cup to bring to a friend at work a few miles away and the guy at the counter was very accommodating and packed the cup in a bag with ice and it held up beautifully.
I hear they are moving to Smoketree in Feb. - I will definitely be back. -

THIS PLACE IS GREAT!!! When My husband and I travel to Palm Springs I always come here.. The service is great. It's a little pricy but it's worth it.. I love the tartness of the frozen yogurt.. :) I'm in love with this place

Came here on accident one evening for a quick dessert looking for something new while we were walking to the street fair. (Yes we're locals so we can dabble without researching)
It's clean. I'll give them that.
Only a couple of choices and even the chocolate was tart...not for me. When I order chocolate, I want it to taste like chocolate. Weird right?
2 yogurt cups with toppings came to about $42 or something and I didn't finish mine. So sad. -

The Cactusberry flavor was fruity, yummy, and pretty decent considering that I have many more choices to choose from back home. However, it didn't stop me from trying something that sounded so dang cute... Highly recommended if you're up for trying something "unique"!
This place might not offer a large selection of flavors, but it was enough to make me happy in Palm Springs. It's well worth a try. -

When you go here, get POG.
That's Passion fruit, Orange, Guava - and it's delicious.
Too bad my small POG/Original tart with one topping (strawberries) set me back $5. Oh and they don't even have mochi!

CactusBerry went over in my belly like a lead balloon. Used to the creamy tartness of Delatti in Los Gatos..and having read reviews about CB's creamy tart yogurt...I thought well maybe there's a contender elsewhere I might love.
Not so much. CB's tart plain left the oddest aftertaste in my mouth...for about an hour afterwards. I didn't drink water because I was so curious about the aftertaste. What exactly was it? I never quite figured it out. So I drank the water and got rid of the taste.
A lot of the reviews say this tastes 'just like Pinkberry'. Never having had Pinkberry, and knowing that I love a more creamy tart, non-powdered yogurt taste...I don't think I'd like Pinkberry either. Good thing we have so many other options in N. CA!
Cute little shop in La Plaza area of downtown Palm Springs...and price wasn't bad..9oz with 3 fruits for $4.50..but their yogurt leaves much to be desired. Now that we've tried CB, we can cross this one off our list, never to return.
Bonus star for the fact that they are super green...their cups are made of corn and they had those recycled cardboard spoons that are all the green rage now.
$10 limit for cc usage so unless you plan to buy a trough, bring cash. -

Two friendly, sassy guys working this place around 8:30 p.m. on a Sunday in August. We went here after dinner nearby for some sorely needed cold stuff, and found just the right thing. I really thought their pink guava flavor was refreshing.
Not a great place for a ton of toppings. Really just fresh fruit and some nuts and a small sampling of other stuff like Captain Crunch.
The small with blueberries was $4. -
Review from Kerri T.
I've grown accustomed to a flavor of "original tart" frozen yogurt that doesn't remind me of being forced to drink milk when I was knee-high to a grasshopper. While Cactusberry does some things perfectly: welcoming counterboy; immaculate establishment; and a fresh assortment of fresh fruit, it lags in other areas.
The prices are STEEP, for example. It's not a self-serve place, so there's a flat price for each cup size. I chose a medium-sized cup for $6.50. Ouch.
There's also NO MOCHI. AAAAAAGGGGGGHHHH! I had driven eight miles to this place to try their yogurt, so I went ahead and bought a yogurt anyway, but one of my favorite accoutrements to fro-yo is a generous sprinkling of gummy. Sad.
I tried all three flavors they were offering on the day I visited and I settled on the tangy passionfruit. It was okay, and the mango and kiwi did lighten the flavor somewhat, but I was still tasting milk. Creamy milky yogurt.,..on a hot day...is not the most settling lunch.
That being said, the sweet boy at the counter filled my cup halfway with yogurt, added fruit, and then swirled a heaping, overflowing portion of yogurt on top of that. Holy Christ, that's a generous portion! Yes I ate it all.
Compared to YOT, I like the general ambiance of this establishment better, and the staff is far more attentive and friendly. However, I prefer to be able to serve myself, and I absolutely require mochi on my pile-o-yo, so I'll probably return to YOT before I come back to Cactusberry. -

Long Beach, CA
The passion fruit frozen yogurt was the best ever. At first I was skeptical but after I tasted it - yuum. My boyfriend was hooked. I think we went there like 3-4 times in one weekend.
He misses the passion fruit and we keep searching for a place that carries it closer to Long Beach but so far, no luck. Even Yogurtland has yet to offer a passion fruit flavor (at least not the times we were there.) -

I really liked this place. I was there twice in 24 hours. It had three sugar free options, and I am diabetic so I was excited for it. The passion fruit flavor was great. I was impressed that the cup and spoon were all made from natural products and 100% biodegradable.
It was 4.50 for 5 oz with 3 toppings. You have the choice of bypassing the toppings for a dollar less.
The yogurt was much more tart than I am used to but I appreciated the change. The raspberries were super fresh and there were many other frsh fruit options. I would very easily go back. -

Palm Springs, CA
I've been here several times. I tend to try something different each time. But, I've had the pomegranate twice. Strange after taste. I guess it's because of the sugar-free issue (not at all a fan of sugar free). However, the other flavors are DE-Licious!
It's a little on the expensive side. But, no more than PearBerry in Orange County.
The staff is nice and fun.
It's worth a try. -
Review from Ursula G.
Maybe I am spoiled by SoCals incredible variety of fro yo places, but this place is so mediocre! I mean it's really small the decor is cute, but whatever. 4 dollars for a small? Really?! A small.. with no toppings.... a dollar for one topping?!?! REALLY? and above all of this, you only offer 4 flavors? For God's sakes, lower your prices or get some more flavors in...
ridiculous. -

K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Sistah's) Super Tangy Fro-Yo. Four Flavors
Some toppings, but limited. I like not having tons of choices, and it makes it much easier on choosing what you want.
Yes, it is a bit pricey - but if you know anything about Palm Springs and the area they have their store - the cost to have a business in that area is pretty high - so that is why a small with one topping is $5.00. I like supporting the little guy, and am willing to pay a bit more to help with their success.
As it was melting, I did notice a bit of separation and it was a bit watery rather than creamy soft. Not sure why.
But, nice place, was there at 2:00 on a Friday and the owner was there and was very friendly. I will definitely go back next time I'm in PS. -

Palm Springs, CA
Absolutely delish. This is Palm Springs, people are "quirky". Having said that, I wouldn't go anywhere else for yogurt in PS, period.
The cups & spoons they use are biodegradeable (potato starch & corn based, respectively).
Not a lot of flavors of yogurt, but the two they do have (vanilla & passion fruit, in either regular or sugar-free/fat free) are great, and the toppings are yummy & fresh (lots of berries & fresh fruits, yummy nuts & granola, etc.). Never been to pinkberry, but I don't really think I'm missing much. -
Review from Melody V.
In walking around the almost empty Downtown Palm Springs, I found myself craving something sweet and cold. Although the more popular ice cream shops are located in this area, I had to wonder if a frozen yogurt shop was anywhere in town. Then, in the corner of my eye, I saw a cute colorful sign and, with my poor vision, I thought I saw a sign that read something like, "cockbury." I raised my eyebrow and as I walked closer to the sign to confirm or reject my reading I sighed in a relief.
"Cactusberry." Appropropriate for something frosty in somewhere as hot as Palm Springs.
Upon entering this little tiny shop located in a small-shop alley, I noticed the simplicity of its decor. I tested the Original Tart flavor which, unfortunately, lacked tart. I also sampled the Guava flavor which I have never seen in any other shop and tasted the subtle flavor of the guava with the original tart. Yummy.
My toppings included huge chunks of mangoes, sliced kiwi, and fresh strawberries ripened to the perfect sweetness. Other toppings are available, and since this place brags about its fruits and nuts, you can choose from such nuts as almonds, peanuts, or walnuts. My friend ordered a touch of almonds with coconut in addition to her rasberries and mango.
This place is quite small, but a smart business move to be located in a small town such as this. No room to waste ingredients and all is fresh as they are recieved.
I sat on the stem of tree, two others are beside me as I place my cup on the counter looking through the glass window and into the street. Paper butterflies dangle in the corner of the window to appeal to the charm of this location. There is outdoor seating in front of this small shop, no smoking area, and you can sit on the circular cement block under a huge orange umbrella. if you so happen to lift this block and find a Hot Wheels car toy under there be sure to return it to me. It belongs to my friend's son *smile*.
All in all, it's not bad of a place that serves something tasty. It is, though, a little pricy. For a 6oz. cup of three toppings, I forked out a good $4.70 - a price I'm willing to pay for such a treat!
Cactusberry is a "green" shop and has been one since it's establishment in 2006 (I have been to Palm Springs at least ONCE every year since 2005 - I JUST discovered this place!). And, if it must mean something to you, it has a sticker on the window displaying its recommendation by the International Heart and Lung Institution.
Go healthy, green, (pricy), goodness!Listed in: Yogurt make me happy!

ZYX Berry are all pretty much the same I guess. This is pretty good. Go try.
I came during Coachella and was killing time. It wasn't crazy busy so I got to chat to the (Italian?) couple that own this spot. The lady noticed I had an HSBC card and asked if I was from NYC (I'm not). She also lent me a pen to write my postcards with and insisted I keep it. Can't be nicer than that. -
Review from Nique F.
Some people can appreciate QUALITY over quantity, and those people will just adore Cactusberry. It's not a chain like so many fro-yo places are, so you'll dig the local vibe here. The flavors were better than any I've tried at the other "berry" yogurt shop (you know, the Pink one), and I did try all 4 flavors...tart, vanilla, tamarind (WOW! a must try), and POG (Passion fruit, orange, guava). Yeah, this place made my day.
Let me also say that I'm a frozen desert FREAK. I founded a group in college called the "Lactose Tolerance Club" where I petitioned for funding to take students on milkshake dates (and got it!). So believe me, I'm not easily impressed with frozen dairy. But, Cactusberry gets a big fat seal of approval for originality (love those flavors), quality (you don't feel all sugared-up afterwards), health benefits (they've got the live cultures in thier yogurt, the Pink guys supposedly don't), and service (you don't even have to ask for a sample, they'll hand one right to you when you walk in).
So, don't even think of skipping this place when you're in Palm Springs. Even if you're being bikini-conscious, the health benefits are too good to resist;)Listed in: Sugar Mama

Yummmm....The "cactus berry"/prickly pear flavor is sooo good! Slightly different than the original tart "pinkberry" flavor, although I can't quite put my finger on how to describe it. It's amazing!
The guy behind the counter was great. Super friendly. No more expensive than I would expect it to be in Palm Springs. I got mine with cinnamon toast crunch and mango. Loved it! -

My girlfriends and I went to Palm Springs for a weekend of pampering. It was over a 100 degrees in PS!! Walking around downtown, we were in dying need of something refreshing and cool. I was so happy when we walked past Cactusberry. It seems like every city has their Pinkberry knock off.
Cactusberry offers two flavors: Passionfruit and vanilla. I had the passionfruit. It was very tasty and refreshing. The yogurt was not smooth in texture, but more icy. I really enjoyed it. There was a selection of fruit and other toppings, but I decided to just stick with just yogurt. -

Super good! Actually, this is just like Pinkberry. The yogurt is fantastic and the fruit, extra fresh! However, that may just only be because it was my first Pinkberry-ish yogurt, and it was SUPER hot that day...
Anyways, this place is super sweet & cute! Also, the spoons are supposedly made out of yam, and the cups, out of corn...and these are supposedly environment friendly too, but whatever--environment friendly or not, I'm a total sucker for cute things.
The only downside for the loss of a star is that it is all the way in Palm Springs (and I live near HB) and that it is quite pricey, just like Pinkberry. Like Pinkberry, you'll either HATE it or LOVE it.
Other than that, I recommend it for those of you who are looking for a Pinkberry-ish fix while down at Palm Springs for your spa days! -

This place has good yogurt, but it's too pricey. You could be paying the same price for something much larger at Mango Tango or even Yogurt on Tap.
This isn't worth the price but it sure tastes good after you stroll downtown in the heat! -

Very good frozen yogurt. It is very simple, almost minimalmistic.
I think it is better than Golden Spoon as it is much more natural tasting. -

I'll keep this short and sweet. I kept coming back to Cactusberry time and again because the POMEGRANATE was so PERFECTly good. Something is different about the yogurt here...I didn't care so much for some other flavors because they had more of a Haagen-Dazs high-fat home-made ice-cream feel to them - but that might be what you are looking for - my boys certainly liked it too. I'm sure to be back every time I'm in downtown Palm Springs.

Hate them. I think I also hate this over-hyped yogurt craze. Enough is enough. Anyways, went here to check it out and asked to sample their non-fat/sugar-free before I decided what I wanted to order. They let me know they were out of sample cups so I asked them to put a bit on a spoon. Hey, I wanted to try it. The guy got all sassy on me and said I was inappropriate and asked if I ask for samples when I order a hamburger! I replied, "No, but I do when I'm at Pink Berry, coldstone, or whatever." Anyway, I didn't get any cactus berry and probably won't. I hope I didn't embarrass my friend. Sorry Monica!

Had the pomegranate which is sugar free. They did give me a lot for what I paid but to be honest the taste sucked. Probably because it was sugar free.. but I think I'm really over this tangy yogurt business.Give me Golden Spoon or give me death! Anyway, this is a nice alternative to ice cream off of Palm Canyon Drive.

Yeah, I liked it. Creamier than Pinkberry, but more expensive. They have plans to expand Cathedral City and San Francisco, so this makes this the only other froyo company besides Pinkberry and Red Mango to grow.

i was not impressed at all. I had the POG with blueberries and coconut flakes. I was dying for fro-yo and this place was close. So I was stuck. The POG tasted like a tart yogurt and the blueberries tasted old. I didn't want to complain in front of my bf. So I kept my mouth shut.

The only reason why I came in here was because my friend and I were hot, sweaty, and desperate for a place to cool off. We both love frozen yogurt and found this place by accident. It's a very small shop with like three flavors ran by two nice guys. I just got the plain flavor with no toppings. I didn't care for any since I just needed to cool off. It was nothing special. No different than Pinkberry.

pssst... dont go here... over priced, always empty when i walk by, and NOT self serve. its like $4.00 for a small with no toppings. not to mention its a bad knock off of pinkberry. go to tutti frutti down the st. WAY BETTER!!

Review from Dusty K.
Palm Springs, CA
Cactusberry features the best tart flavors you will ever find, the only drawback is the price. For a relatively small cup of yogurt with toppings, I usually pay $7+ and the equivalent at a self-serve yogurt shop would be around half that. With lower prices, I'd be in there every day.

I have been craving this stuff since I visited and had it three times in three days. Sososososo good.. Not sure what they do to that frozen yogurt (they wouldn't tell me), but I could eat it day and night. And i haven't even mentioned the delicious fresh fruit that compliments it oh-so-well.
Yum. Go there. Now. -

I have never been a fan of the "pay by topping" yogurt places and this place didn't help me change my mind. 5 dollars down the drain for a small one topping yogurt. We tried 2 out of the 3 flavors before defaulting to pomegranate, which was not very good. After a couple of bites we decided to throw it away.
Need a better selection of flavors (plain tart???) and cheaper prices. I don't think I have ever payed this much for a single yogurt ever! One star for having multi-colored mochi. -

Hate it!
It's just a Pinkberry wannbe..Don't like the Pinkberry either, it's overpriced and does not taste good. My prediction is it's all a fad and will be gone in a couple of years.
Also, the guys that own Cactusberry are very weird.
How do they justify charging $5.00 for 5oz of yogurt with frozen fruit toppings????? -

I think the flavor of the frozen yogurt is totally awesome and unlike anything I have ever had before. It has a almost sour cream flavor to it - which I think is AWESOME!
The staff is never friendly, and the prices high - but I dont really care because I love the taste. -

The fat and sugar free pomogranite yogurt started off very good, but didn't taste as good towards the end.
