Great place to stay in San Diego very close to the Gaslight and walkable to Little Italy. It is a small hacienda style hotel with hanging plants and succulents everywhere on the property. They have cool rooftop area with a gazebo and lots of chairs. We had fun drinking wine up there a night. Yes, maybe too much fun at times. There is a market across the street with a decent wines and a small deli. Most rooms have a small table and chairs just outside the door (recommend the second floor).
The room includes a daily breakfast with scrambled eggs, sausage, cereal, juice etc. which is a value when you consider how much you would spend going out everyday. We were there for five days so this was a perfect.
Moderately priced and the rooms were fine with tiled bathrooms. Easy walk to the trolley line. All of the staff from the front desk to housekeeping was friendly and very helpful. Parking is $10.00 per night. This is a tiny place with a small lot so you need to reserve a spot. I would definitely stay here again.
For hotels in this price range and location in San Diego I bestow 5 stars.
We stayed here over President's Day Weekend for two nights and really enjoyed the place. The rooms are beautifully decorated with warm textiles and colors. The walls are hand stenciled. The bathroom had very nice fixtures and pretty tiles. The soaps were spa soaps, not your typical hotel-paper wrapped variety. The bed was big and fluffy.
My complaints are minor. Although quite comfortable, the room was also quite small. The room only had basic cable. And rather than wireless internet, there was cat-5 at the desk in the room. (I like to sit on my laptop in bed.)
Still, this was an above-average, comfortable, and very clean place. The gardens are absolutely stunning, too
