THEY HAVE MOVED!!!!

No longer next to Le Sex Shoppe - it's on 9th street just around the corner from City Hall.

This location is much larger, very well organized, "cleaner" and has a very nice updated decor with windows that let so much more light in.

The entire staff seems so much happier and bubbly now with this great new location and much more room to move around and accommodate all diners.

When my girl Angela K. and I ordered our AYCE selection for round 1 - she came back first with a tempura appetizer first and mentioned she  hoped we didn't mind but she put this in for us so that we could snack first. How nice! Calamari rings, Veggies and Ponzu.

Our girl Jacqueline ordered a bento box and sushi - that smelled delicious!

The dynamite was delicious, with a bottom layer of rice, scallops, shrimp, crab, onions, masago, and Bonito shavings that almost covered the entire plate YUM!

The cuts of sushi, flavor of all the cooked items, were larger and more flavorful than usual. Kudos for moving, remodeling, and reinventing, without sacrificing taste or quality.

Just remember that when you order, all of the rolls or nigiri come out at once on a large tray. So pace yourself ;)
An extra plus is that there is free parking on the opposite side of the building for 60 minutes.

Joe's is better. More fun and lively at Joe's.

The ladies who work at Cabin seem very stingy. Like they don't want you to order more stuff. It's stupid. The sushi is okay, not as good as at Joe's. Just go to Joe's

Why am I NOT impressed? Should I lower my standards? NOT!

- large piece of rice topped with a thin small piece of fish on sushi, like a balding guy's head with a comb over... sad
- fish not fresh
- service is mediocre, tea not refilled
- no variety on the menu, where's my uni and my clam???

The only eatable items on the menu are lettuce wrap, garlic albacore sushi, and tiger roll. $17.95 for lunch and $21.95 for dinner, reasonably priced but not super cheap.

When I say I love AYCE sushi, I'm pretty much referring to Cabin because no other place with AYCE sushi has surpassed it yet. Sure send me to Joe's Sushi (also in riverside) or to You and I Sushi (Laguna Niguel)...but no. None compares.

First off, service is wonderful. The owners are very hospital, and they always come around with a smile on their face asking if you need something.

2nd, sitting at the sushi bar is the BEST. Not only do you get unlimited chances to order (because sitting at the tables I think you can only order twice in one go which sometimes causes over-ordering). Plus the sushi chefs are really funny, affable and they even drink with you if you buy them a beer/shot! :D The sushi chef that always serves me now recognizes my face when I go to Riverside.

3rd, try everything. I've never had anything terrible (except raw octopus...it's like cold rubber on rice) but that's just a texture preference. The fish is very very fresh, and trust me, you can tell when salmon or tuna is not fresh.

4th, all the rolls and sushi are in decent sizing. Meaning, they're not overly stuffed with rice or imitation crab so that you can eat more rolls. You know, less stuffing, more concentrated roll. At some AYCE places, they over-stuff their rolls so that I usually get like 2 rolls and I'm pretty full off their rice and crab. But cabin makes it small so that you have a chance to eat like 4 or 5 different rolls. (I can eat alot haha). Plus the sushi sizes are small and you can also order more rounds of variety. Definitely try their baked rolls, the flavor is really intense and the warm sushi roll kinda has a nice kick to it.

5th, their alcohol selection is quite abundant too. Despite not being an avid drinker at Cabin (I'm usually designated Driver....), my friends quite often get imported beer or sake. They almost always buy a drink for the chefs too! Happy chefs = better food quality.

So if you're in the Riverside area and you're REALLY hungry, check this place out. I guarantee you will not be disappointed!
Heck, I drive out here FROM IRVINE because it's that good. You know, I battle traffic to get this, that says alot.  ;p

I may be one of the only few who have given this place 1 star, but I genuinely think they deserve it.

The food is not good. Though the service is nice and all, it's very fake.
She will tell you to not share with an angry smirk. Then she'll smile when you tell her you didn't order all you can eat buffet. You can see her teeth grinding as she turns away.

The sashmi was HORRIBLE. It smelled days old with that horrid smelly fish smell remaining as an aftertaste.

Nothing was really good.. So 1 star for the prices and the nice chefs.

I don't think I'll go here again .

I was going to meet some out-of-state friends in Riverside for dinner and drinks so I quickly hopped on Yelp and found Cabin Sushi. I was a bit skeptical because I'd never seen the place in person, and I couldn't even remember its name: just that the lettering is green and red. So we slowly drove down Market Street and saw the colors, parked, and went in.

At first, I was a bit weary of just how small the restaurant is. But we were promptly seated, given water (thankfully, since it was 103 outside), and handed some menus. We asked for a few minutes, since it was our first time there. After some browsing, we settled on some rolls to share.

I must say, everything was excellent. Each roll was very well presented and just the right size to share with others. And to be honest, I've never liked Spider Rolls, but theirs was so good! Having been ill the day before, I was hesitant to eat sushi, but an hour after leaving this place, I was still doing just fine- testament to their excellence!

My only quarrel was that we told them we were celebrating my birthday, and she brought us a "free" slice of honeydew as a "treat." Considering everyone around us was handed a slice upon finishing, I can't say I felt too special. In fact, I felt a bit insulted, but whatever! The sushi made up for it, and the prices were more than reasonable.

If you're staying in or around downtown, Cabin Sushi should be a must on your list!

I absolutely love CABIN!! I've been going there since I attended UCR and even since I've graduated I try to make the trip back once in awhile. It's a MUST when you're in the area. Although it's a bummer that they've raised the price, but it is still well worth it.

It's not your typical All You Can Eat sushi joint, it is made fresh to order. I highly recommend the salmon nigiri and dynamite. I'm drooling just thinking about it. They don't try to fill you up with rice like at Joe's. So head out and bring your appetite. Don't forget to visit the porn shop next door.

If you are a UCR student, or a UCR alumni, you must know about Cabin sushi.

This is probably the best sushi place in the Inland Empire. I haven't been here since I graduated in 05, but I when I was a student at UCR, I was coming here at least 1-2x a month! Their AYCE is $17.95 for lunch and I believe it is $21 for dinner. Most  lunch AYCE  sushi places have limited sushi rolls and appetizers, but this place has TONS of rolls to choose from AND it tons of appetizers..they range from edemames, shu mai, Udon noodle soup, miso soup, salads, potstickers, etc..I don't think I have seen that many appetizers to choose from.

The sushi chefs normally greet you when you walk in just like any other japanese restaurant..but they are super duper friendly. It is best to sit at the bar, because then you normally don't have to wait for your sushi to be made as long..and you cant to see how its made. I have actually learned my sushi making techniques from the chefs at Cabin Sushi! The chefs seriously are the most friendliest, and make the best rolls, so make sure you tip them when you're done with your meal.

The location of this restaurant isn't in the best area, and the last time I went there, their parking lot totally needed to be repaved. It had potholes all over the place, not to mention it is next to a Le Sex shop! ...Anyways, if you're ever in the IE..I highly recommend coming to this place to eat sushi!

I used to go here all the time when I attended UCR.

I miss all you can eat sushi, I swear SoCal has a bunch of good places that serve you pretty good sushi for all you can eat, up here in norcal, its pretty nasty and crappy! I dont know if the owners changed, but the old man that worked here was super nice! He would always talk to me in Korean and ask about school and what not, the wife is kind of a different story. Shes like the sushi nazi making sure you eat all the food on the plate and what not. Anyways, I'd def go back to this place if I made a trip back to Riverside! Def a thumbs up here!

ALL YOU CAN EAT!!!!! I AM SO THERE, especially when it comes to Sushi!

I am quite surprised that there are so many AYCE sushi restaurants in the Inland Empire. What is more surprising is that they are actually good! Why couldnt some of these restaurants move to Little Tokyo in LA!

I would always frequent Cabin because it was by far the closest location by UCR when I was staying in Riverside. I did not want to drive 20 miles off the 91 just to eat sushi. Who likes a long drive after a AYCE meal anyways? Not me, especially since food coma sets after about the 50th piece of sushi.

Located right by a Sex Shop is Cabin Sushi. What a great location! Parking is located behind Cabin but I would suggest parking on the street or across the street because the parking is horrible. Not only is it narrow but you would like to avoid drivers like this one.....

http://www.youtube.com...

Once you step in to Cabin, you immediately get greeted by a friendly face. This place is small, but I do not ever remember having a problem finding seating for a small party. If you have a large one, I strongly suggest you make reservations. You have the option to order AYCE or order individual rolls. Doesnt take a math major to know which one to pick to get your moneys worth.

Look to pay around 20+ per person for dinner, a little under 20 if you come in for lunch.

You are handed a piece of paper with a list of different sushi, rolls, along with appetizers. Check off what you want and enjoy!

The sushi here melts in your mouth and keeps you coming back for more. I swear I do not even chew when I eat here. I just swallow the sushi whole!

Here is a tip if you have a HUGE appetite like I do based on experience. ORDER AS MUCH AS YOU CAN OFF THE FIRST ORDER WHEN YOU GET YOUR SUSHI LIST.. HELL ORDER SO MUCH THAT YOU WONT BE ABLE TO ORDER THE 2nd TIME AROUND.....FUCK WHAT THE WAITRESS SAYS IF SHE THINKS THAT YOU CANT FINISH IT, SAY THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT!

Warning: They will charge you for left overs, so be prepared to eat every single thing you mark down.

Why the tip if it is all you can eat? After you do major damage to their business like I do and actually negate their profit, they want you out of there..There is only way to do that, give you not so fresh sushi. At this point though, you should be ready to puke.

Imagine 2 grown men eating more than 100 pieces of sushi between the 2 of them...Yea I would give you the old shit too!

You have been warned, you have been tipped off, now enjoy.

Why a 4 star for all that hassle? Because the sushi is that damn good (keep in mind though I am no sushi guru)  and I can totally understand them wanting to kick my ass out!

Whohoo, as good as it gets in the Inland Empire!

Great sushi for a great price. You really can't ask for more than that. Open and friendly ambiance. The ladies were a bit intrusive, but I attributed this to their wanting to clear all the plates from your area. And, if you do the all-you-can eat, you will collect many plates. I really loved that the all-you-can eat menu included everything else: soup, salad, tempura, muscles, etc. The rolls were all delicious, both hand and cut rolls. I didn't care too much for the nigiri pieces, though. I didn't notice until well into my meal about the 1 hr limit for the all-you-can eat option. Whatever the case, I didn't feel rushed at all. Great pacing allowed us to eat quite a bit.

Do try this place. You will not be disappointed. My fiance and I will definitely return...

Decent food, decent prices. I've had much better sushi, but always for more money. I suppose you get what you pay for here.
The good part about it is the all you can eat sushi. If you ever feel like gorging yourself for under $20 on good fish and rice, this is the place to go. Their albacore nigiri is excellent I must say, perfect size, little bit of garlic and chives with fresh albacore-highly recommended.Once or twice I've gotten to the point where I can't even put any more food in my mouth.
Location is nice because its downtown, but weird because it's right next to a porn shop. Where exactly is that fish smell coming from??

The fact that my friends and I will drive an hour to riverside for sushi at Cabins is a testimony to this place. The service is amazing, the fish is fresh and the slices are thick. The sauces that accompany the rolls enhance the dish and puts it on a whole new level. And to top it off, its all you can eat!!!!!!!!!!!!! Granted you only have 2 rounds to pick what you want...however, you can order as much as you want each round. Even the pre-round appetizers are awesome

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!

I've gone here 3 times.  My first time, once with a friend and my brother, and once with my girlfriend.  Every time everyone went away happy.  It's a pretty friendly atmosphere and the fish is delicious.  I like the chill atmosphere more than the loud and circus-like atmosphere in other sushi places like Joe's Sushi.   The one of the chefs made a spicy all fish item for our dessert (added a picture).
Overall, I would heartily recommend this, and it's easily my favorite 'all you can eat' sushi restaurant in Riverside.

Made to order, all you can eat sushi for $21.95 will be a winner, no matter what.

I've been to Todai before, I know what borderline-mediocre sushi tastes like: subtly fresh, but on the brink of fishy foul. Nothing a little lemon can't cure. The assumption for quality is pretty low, which is exactly why I enjoyed Cabin Sushi so much.

The sushi fared much better than the dismal expectation I had anticipated. Red snapper, yellowtail, tuna, salmon: all were not only edible, but refreshing! The albacore is marinated overtime in ponzu, but I suprisingly enjoyed it.

I was really apprehensive for the first time trying Quail Egg Shooters, but once I discovered that the black ooze of bile is actually ponzu (my favorite!) it was game on! So many times would I have liked to slurp down the ponzu bowl at shabu shabu with only the prospect of horrified, repulsed stares to keep me from actually performing the deed. But now, not only can I do it but it's also socially acceptable!

Next time, maybe I'll just ask for the Quail Egg Shooter without the Quail Egg.

I first found this place a few years back when I was working at a law firm across the street. This place is very easy to get to because it's located right in downtown riverside. Now that I'm a frequent, i wouldn't go to have all you can eat anywhere else in riverside.

I think the all you can eat is priced as follows: lunch - $17.95
                                                                                   dinner - $21.95

For those of you who know all you can eat, that's very cheap! Not only do they include every roll in the house, but they also include all the kitchen items as well! All you can eat: udon, miso, teriyaki and rice, egg rolls, calamari and tempura. Basically there isn't a single thing in this place you can't get with the all you can eat!

Now, since they are set up as an all you can eat place, they don't have all the fancy rolls other places might have but they have the basics and they do them well. Which is fine because at the nicer sushi places they don't include the special rolls anyway. The food is always fresh! Its very clean and has a great atmosphere. The sushi bar is always full for dinner any day during the week. It's a family owned place, so the ladies working there are super nice.... and after a few visits they start to recognize what you like which totally helps... since i always need extra hot sauce and lemons for my soy sauce!

If you're in riverside and you eat sushi... you have to make a stop at "Porno Sushi" as the locals call it...you can't miss it cuz its located right next door to the Porn shop :)

OK, ok, the only thing you can say bad about Cabin is the porn store next door.  I agree, but I kind of like what you guys have been calling it "PORN-SUSHI". Too funny.  Anyway, you sushi snobs that think you know everything there is to know about sushi, well you can go to Omakase, or Joe's, or Miagi's, or Shoga's, or Kabuki's, but you cannot beat CABIN. Nope.  More bang for your buck, all you can eat. Big selection, includes muscles, spyder-roll, udon, lots of choices.  The Cabin's treat you great.  I've never been disappointed. Just don't go when there's a car show going on downtown.  The noise is awful!

like everyone says, this place is right next to the porn shop, my cousin and i were craving for sushi tonight, right after a movie. since we've been hearing good raves about this place, we just couldnt find it everytime we're in the area, so we tried again until we saw the sex shop and then the cabin sushi sign.. yay FINALLY!

we came in around 9:10pm, cause we didnt know this place is about to close in 20 minutes! i felt bad and we're just gonna go or order take-out, but nope they insisted us to stay and asked if we could eat the AYCE or from the menu, we didnt care if its just a rush-in 'all you can eat' meal, so we took advantage of ordering almost everything on the list for 1 round and we savoured every bite. it was good! of course they didnt tell us to hurry up, but i just felt like eating so fast so they can finish cleaning up and go.

ok maybe the interiors arent the best thing compared to Miyagi's BUT i dont care any of that, what i like about this place is they dont put too much rice on their sushi, they have more fish, the employees are so nice and friendly, and they welcomed us with open doors even when its almost time to close.

im definitely gonna come back here, i'd like to try some of their other selections, like other people have mention, you have my praise, Cabin Sushi, we'll come again!

Review based on 10-20 visits.

The sushi here is great, but not awesome. Presentation is standard, just neat placement of pieces and some sauce drizzling. They sometimes server on this wooden block thing, which is a bit traditional but I worry about how sanitary it really is(it has lots of cuts and nicks all over it). The quality of the sushi is good, but sometimes not so good. I think it really depends on who is on bar making your sushi. The slices of raw fish are decent proportions, not too thin or small. I love their appetizers, especially calamari. My friends always go for the mussels religiously. The rolls that you can order are pretty standard sushi rolls, nothing special. If you're there, you're there to satisfy a craving for sushi, not to gain an amazing 5-star sushi experience. Parking is easy enough, and almost never a wait. The waitresses are usually very friendly with a very hilarious accent. They just make you smile.

Overview:
AYCE, turns out to be less expensive. Cheaper during the day.
Sushi rolls are a bit generic, but good. Sometimes lack quality.
Presentation depends on who is on bar and how busy they are.
AYCE includes appetizers like calamari, soup, chicken, etc.
Very friendly service MOST of the time. They usually ask if you want more.
Only a few minute's drive(at night) from UCR campus.
Parking is easy, and nearly never a wait for seating.

Cabin Sushi aka... Porno Sushi !! I'm not a huge fan of sushi, but when I found out it was all-u-can-eat, my eyes lid up !!

By far the best all-u-can eat sushi restaurant in the Riverside area. The staff was very, very friendly and the service was superb.

The sushi overall was delicious, and the seafood was pretty fresh. The tempura was excellent.

Being the hungry guy that I was, I ordered shumai and eggrolls as well. You can get shumai at a chinese/vietnamese retaurant, and you can get eggrolls anywhere !! Nonetheless, I was very hungry. I did kinda feel bad for all the sushi chefs that made our food, but for $22+tax+tip, you know damn well, I'm gonna take advantage of all the food that I can get. At the end of 2+hours, I was left satisfied and a food coma, a good after-effect of  eating your hearts out.

I came here about a year ago with a friend and I think it was just okay. Fish not as fresh as can be, but just okay. The feeling I got when I was there for the AYCE is that I needed to order as little as possible or something of that sort. The sushi was fairly small and not much of a selection. I really wouldn't come back here... not unless I was stopping by the adult store right next door ^_~

For a restaurant that is commonly known as "Porno Sushi" this place isn't so bad.  Gets packed during lunch, and I'm amazed that so many people can eat "all you can eat" during their short lunch time.  I had the gyoza and a california hand roll.  My co-worker got the chicken teriyaki lunch box.  Both of us were satisfied and maybe next time we'll do all you can eat.

Reasonable prices for decent food.

"You know, the one next to the porn shop"

In a kind of weird old building and a claustrophobic sushi bar layout, this place doesn't disappoint for the money. The chefs lay it on fast and good and it seems like they employ about 30% more staff than they really need -- meaning ABSURDLY quick service. Try to get your water glass down to empty without anyone refilling it. I think it is an impossibility.

I go here about 3-5 times a year, and I'm never let down. It gets crowded Fri-Sat evenings, though, so beware.

For sushi in the riverside area... I can say this place is decent.  Still not my favorite place to go to but if friends are coming here, I shall go.

They don't have a variety of sushi here but they do the all you can eat which everyone loves.  The quality isn't as fresh as one would like it to be but again, it's also in Riverside.

The staff here is very friendly and attentive though.

Parking here sucks and be careful where you park, it's also in a ghetto area so you might have to walk a bit to get to your car.

There are certain things in life that I believe are totally worth the extra buck because they are the staples. Like Oreos, Smucker, Heinz ketchup. Why would ya get any other brand right? What I'm trying to say is why would you go anywhere else for sushi than Cabin Sushi?!

Cabin Sushi is the kind of place dreams are made of. While the place is small, it makes up for what it lacks in size with their awesome sushi and entrees.

The best is the all-you-can-eat. I will starve myself all day just so I can tackle this beast of a meal. For somewhere between 18-19.50 for lunch and 21-23.95 for dinner, you can basically get whatever the heck you want and as much of it as you want.

I'm talking about getting all the sushi you can handle, but also being able to get chicken teriyaki, dynamite, miso, udon, etc. as much as you want. You literally are just so happy when you're eating because you're asking yourself, "am i dreaming?". You're in one big Japanese sushi dream in technicolor.

The people are very friendly and provide excellent service. They are very attentive and I have never once gotten impatient or annoyed with the service or sevrvers. Maybe I'm just too busy stuffing my damn face.

Oh well. This place is like the Disneyland of sushi. You'll never want to leave. 5 stars, no doubt. Happy eating!

The best sushi anywhere. I rather go here than Little Tokyo in Los Angeles. It's rad. Attentive staff. It's usually packed with people, which is a good sign. All you can eat for about $20. I'm telling you...It's really really good.

What a hole in the wall place.  From the outside, it looks pretty boring.  Looks more like a retail store...

But the sushi was great quality fish, great rolls, and decent prices.

It's a popular place for lunch-goers!  The service was okay...friendly but a bit inattentive.  But I think the food and prices make up for it.

Parking was street...but it's the norm here.

parking is a bitch...because its either a dirt lot behind the place, to which you can enter from the back), or another parking lot right around the corner.  While the sushi is definitely something to be had here, i do recommend coming here in groups of 2 or more, for safety reasons...place is somewhat tiny, but sushi..omg the sushi..its huge!  ill ask my friend if he can share his picture of his all you can eat sushi spread..anyways...the lady was really nice...ima utensil girl all the way, but when in rome right?  the lady is so sweet she gave me chop stick trainers...like they hold them in place like a clip...and she let me keep it.  there is that le sex shoppe next door, which can make a grown man blush - no, im not that grown man, im talking about the man i saw going in...

if you dont know how it works..here it is (sorry if someone else already said it..i didnt read all the way through)
1.  say, I want all you can eat sushi please (price is like 21.95 i think)
2. she gives you a sheet - basically you order the sushi in rounds, 3 round total...so its not really all you can eat, but really, i never make it past the first round...hardly ever never...so lets say you want a spider roll, you can get that roll up to three times, as well as any other roll, hand help or raw fish.
3.  they also have other sides, like teriyaki chicken, veggie tempura, miso soup, calamari, etc...all inclusive
4.  most importantly, eat and chew efficiently, so that you dont need to drink as often and waste previous stomach space...

with that said, after coming here often during Lenten season in the years past, i can say that I am no longer a fan of Sushi, i dread ever being this full again

(FYI - i have a review for joe's sushi, which is practically the same as this...but different)

Hands down... MUCH better than Joe's Sushi. My friends and I would frequent Cabin throughout our college years and always had a great experience. The staff was very friendly and remembered us every time.

Try the volcano roll. Great presentation and taste is impeccable!

Round 4 of Remembering Riverside
This once rundown urinal of a underaged drinking spot was transformed into Cabin Sushi in 2001 I think.  My friends and I frequented Cabin at least once a week for a time.  What can I say, we were hooked.  It wasn't the cuts of sushi or anything either cause the cuts were poor, but rather the kind owners of the restaurant and friendly service we received each and every time.  They would often let us take a to go box, each filled with our favorite cuts.  Ah, one of the few fond memories of this city.

I used to come here way back in the day before "all you can eat" sushi.... We were a big group of young folks who came to sing karaoke, and buy lots of pitchers of beer.... I'll stop there!

Went to Casino Morongo with two friends one night and after losing some cash, my friend Janet suggested we try this place out. Cabin Sushi looks pretty damn ghetto, and the parking lot is even worse. But hey what do you expect its in riverside.

For its price and location, the food is surprisingly good. The quality of sushi and appetizers are far better than a nasty buffet like Todai. Anyone who is a student of UC Riverside should probably hit this place up and abuse it. I know I would.

The last time I ate here, it was really good.  Today, it was just okay.  Still a good price and quality for all-you-can-eat sushi.  Coming right in the middle of lunch time meant that I had to wait about 20 minutes for a table.

It might have been because it was packed, but the service was somewhat lacking.  As I was waiting, I noticed that at least two tables had to ask for their sushi because it hadn't arrive.  We had to do the same after we didn't get everything that we ordered.

Paying for parking makes me sad.  Since Cabin is located downtown, you have to pay for parking M-F between some time in the morning and 5pm.  (There is very limited free parking in the back.)

Lunch all-you-can-eat is $17.99 and dinner is about $22.99.

So its like this: they offer an all-you-can-eat lunch/dinner, but they don't really mean it.  We were told that if we marked down 1 for a particular order, we would get two pieces.  This happened the first time around.  The second time around, we were confused because we saw all the things that we ordered but didn't see as many as we expected.  Although, one might point out that they have a 1-hour time limit on the all-you-can-eat time window, most of our time was spent waiting on the order.  It's more like-all you can manage to get served to you.

I'd like to give 4 for the sushi quality, but I have to subtract 2 for the deceptive policy and for the chef having to harangue us at our table with the unwritten limits on particular sushi.  I had a Korean guy with me, so apparently they felt at ease to complain that they weren't making any money by serving only nigiri instead of rolls.

I've read plenty o' review about this place and keep hearing something about being guilty.  I'd have to say that they're guilty of false advertising and that no one should feel guilty for getting what they paid for.

Update 5/08: I thought that I should give them a second chance and with the state of sushi in Riverside, I had little choice.  Sushi's still above average, with the usual Korean flourishes, and luckily, no nasty encounters with the head chef.
