From furniture to guns to archery to fishing to camping to outdoor clothing and shoes, this place has it all.  It even has a large cafeteria style restaurant serving standardamerican fare along with game meat burgers and a salad bar.

And ther are more stuffed animals posed for display than anywhere else along with an aquarium full of all sorts of aquatic life.

I suppose if you are into hunting and fishing this is probably a great place but as a hiker, i found their selection of hiking gear to be limited to non-existent or I needed a map to find it.  I looked around the mens clothes and shoe section and found their prices to be a bit high as well.

The store serves another purpose.  Never have I seen a museum of stuff animals found within a retail store.

IMO, this store is nothing more than a tourist trap. They should at least have a tram in the parking lot.  lol

Customer service was terrible at the gun counter...2 hour wait for them to not have what we wanted in stock, even though we asked after waiting 45 min and they said they had it in stock. Oh, the computer said they had 1 left in stock, but they couldn't find it????? This is a GUN were talking about.
The animals are cool to look at but I will not shop there again!

Make sure you plane on this being  a allday event.  This place is overwhelming. Ton's of this and stuff to do. On weekend they have courses and classes.  After  shopping here just check pricing. For as large as cabelas is you would think there pricing is the best. Not the case.  I have found things at Walmart  k mart and dicks allot cheaper. Love this place still.

This place is crazy.  In a good way.  Fun for everyone.   Well maybe not  everyone...  but most.  It's an experience for sure.  I went in for long underwear and left with a lot more than that.

Huge selection of hunting and outdoor apparel, although not much selection in the smaller size range for ladies.  The clearance room is pretty awesome.  Boots and shoes that have tiny smudges are in there for about half price, so check it out before purchasing something full price.  There were also some beautiful Pendleton cardigans (regularly priced $200 on sale for $40), but again only in huge sizes :(

The stuffed game dioramas and aquarium are something else.  Check out the old trout with the deformed jaw.  Poor guy, give him some good vibes.

The camping section really should be called the camping and cooking section.  Nice selection of industrial dehydrators, and campfire cooking ware.

There were some nice traditional bows and archery accessories in the archery section, which we were looking at for a while.

Most of the staff is very friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately lunch wasn't being served yet, I would have really loved to try the bison bratwurst.

The people watching is pretty awesome here too.

Attention Single Ladies & Boys Who Like Boys: If you would like to be in the immediate physical presence of hundreds of very manly men stocking up on absolutely vital fishing and hunting gear, this is your place.

From fly-tying basics to an entire ghillie suit sure to give your children nightmares for decades (as well as mask your killer's scent from your next deer victim), Cabela's has everything you could possibly need to lure and land, or track and shoot, all the prey creatures of the earth.

My stepdad and brothers can't get enough of this Man Paradise, and build shopping visits into any and all trips to central/western PA.  You can get lost for hours examining the tents, footwear, clothing and even furniture (think of entire bedroom sets fashioned from branches) that crowd this Wal-Mart of outdoor life.

The central mountain-stream-cavern sculpture a-bristle with (real? imaginary?) hunt-able creatures adds a bizarre cherry on top of this country sundae. Real trout live in the indoor pond scene, too. Take a moment to enjoy the view from the parking lot -- this is truly lovely country.

    This place is awesome.

Where else can you get Ostrich cold cuts and a .50 caliber sniper rifle in the same place? Or a Dora the Explorer blowgun?

They also have a special room full of antique/specialty guns. I believe you can buy the rifle that Buffalo Bill killed the last Buffalo in the face with. Or a hand-held cannon with a trumpet on the end that they used to shoot Elephants with in the 1800s. Stuff like that.

They also have a mountain. And a stream. Inside. The mountain is covered with the following taxidermied animals:

Black bears, grizzly bears, Polar bears, goats, beavers, lions, antelopes, lions eating antelopes, elephants, and others, all of which you can order in the restaurant.

Not really, of course. That would be silly. But you can have some of them. Besides Ostrich they have Bison and some others I can't recall at the moment (Kangaroo maybe?) If that doesn't sound good to you, then tough shit, because that's all they have, and if you're not the kind of person that would order the Ostrich sandwich because it sounds kind of cool, even though it doesn't taste particularly good (it doesn't) then Cabela's isn't your kind of place.

Come on, who doesn't like Cabela's?  TREE HUGGIN' HIPPIE DIPPIES, THAT'S WHO!!

I'm not a big hunter, but my husband is.  However, I could spend hours wandering around looking at all the stuff they have.  It's also great for people-watching.  Where else can you see a family of 5 wearing matching camouflage and blaze orange outfits?  There really should be a website called http://www.peopleofcab... or something.  It would rock.

I bought my first gun the other day, we ended up getting a Ruger 10/22.  Excited to go to the range and use it.  NO, I didn't get a pink one.  They were too small, otherwise I totally would have got a pink one.  With matching pink earmuffs.  Except the pink earmuffs were $70 and the regular ones were $20.  Jerks.  Not Cabelas, the company that makes the pink earmuffs and thinks I'm a big enough idiot to pay an additional $50 because the earmuffs are pink.

Anyhow, Cabela's is a great way to waste a Sunday morning.  You can even eat lunch in there and order some exotic food off the menu.

Even if you're not into hunting/fishing/etc., you should still go and check it out.  It's worth your time.

    Have fun!

I guess I was expecting to be wowed by this place.  Plus I envisioned myself to be like a kid in a candy store grabbing so many items and filling a shopping cart.  But, alas!  It wasn't meant to be.

Our main objective in coming here (besides my wanting to do so for quite sometime) was to find my husband a good pair of waterproof and insulated winter boots.  After experiencing 2 miserable blizzards this past winter and thus, his inability to find decent boots, we made a decision to go to Cabelas.  Surely, he would find something here!

As for me, in the past I've ordered both summer and winter tops from their Catalogues.  However, I shyed away from ordering shoes and jeans since I didn't know how well they would fit.  Going to a store would give me the opportunity to try things on---or so I thought...!

Well, as far as my husband's shopping list---success!  He found a good pair of boots.  After he kept wandering around the footwear section, I told him that even if he had to find a clerk to help him, I was determined that he would get a pair of boots.

As far as my shopping list---not much success :(!  I had spotted a pair of walking shoes on their website that I wanted to try but they didn't have them in the store.  So...I found a similar pair and hunted down a clerk to get a pair for me to try on.  I figured that I would at least see how their house brand fit before buying from the catalogue.  I also had my eye on a particular fleece jacket but the size selection was limited.  At least I was able to figure out which sizes didn't fit!  In addition, I looked at their jeans but was unimpressed.  I like jeans with good deep pockets which theirs didn't have.  What I did end up with---2 T-shirts for me and 2 for the grandsons.

This store is like a zoo and the layout is very impractical and illogical.  For example, I went into an area  that said it was kid's clothing.  Yes, there was a limited selection but in that same section was some women's clothing (!)  Also, the place looks bigger than it actually is.  There is only one floor and a mezzanine which houses the restaurant.

As for store staff--- in some sections the staff was bored.  In fact, one bored staff member tried to talk us into getting a Cabelas visa card.   No thanks, we said, but she still insisted we take an application "in case we changed our minds".  In other sections, like the footwear section, you really had to hunt down a clerk.  That department was understaffed and the staff was really harried.

Check-out was another fiasco---long lines at every register.  My husband said to the cashier that they needed more lines.  She said that all but two were open and the two closed ones were only opened at Christmas shopping season!  I told her that I learned that the catalogues had much more stuff for sale.  She said that the store doesn't have room for everything.  I really, really think that it wouldn't hurt them to build bigger stores.

Would we go again?  Oh, heck no!   While there were some positives---my husband finding boots and me learning about the sizing of some of their clothing, the negatives far outweigh the positives.

I'm just going to stick to shopping from their catalogues from now on!

Cabelas is Mecca. When you first drive up to it is sits elevated up on a hill, as you progress further you are truly able to take in the awesomeness.

Cabalas has everything you could possible need for anything outdoors, or gun related. If they don't have it you really don't need it. I've never came here and not found what I was looking for. There selection of guns is pretty large. They also have a pretty large selection of used firearms as well. The waiting period is practically nothing. Granted I don't know how long it would be if you were a PA resident but for NJ it's about 30 mins assuming you have all the credentials. As for ammo or other gun needs, they have holsters gun smiting stuff, reloading equipment and bulk ammo. Beware there bulk stuff can be very dirty.

For fishing they have a section the size of a medium clothing store.  Again if they don't have it you don't need it. Between lures, line, and poles you can pick up whatever you need. While in there I find their aquarium of native fish to be quit cool.

They also have a good sized camping section upstairs with at and a decent food court. If you love the outdoors, you really owe it to yourself to make a least one trip here, and you might find yourself coming here more often than you think.

Their firearm prices range from "too expensive" to "decent sale prices." They certainly have everything they claim to have in the catalog, though! Sometimes they'll have nice deals on bulk ammunition. I picked up a dry storage box with 2100 rounds of Federal .22LR for $65 a while back.

If nobody else has a gun you want and you don't want to go online through an FFL... Cabela's can take care of you.

General sporting goods prices are average across the board. Their sales can be a good buy, though. I was never clear on their position towards OC in the store, though.

Just be aware that their firearms section works like a deli counter. You take a number and then you wait... and wait... and wait. One time I got there and drew #68 and they were on #5....

This is a store to be experienced. It's almost an attraction, rather than a place to shop.First off, the place can be seen from the highway. You don''t realized how large it is until you start up their driveway.  At the top of the hill is an enormous parking lot, and, as the 1st reviewer mentioned, it gets crowded in the store, so the lot can be full. You know what you've got yourself into when you realize they have places marked off for bus parking.

Before you get into the store, there is a sculpture, about 3x normal size of hunters in a canoe. It's detail is compelling. I'm not a big fan of sculptures, but I had to spend about 10 minutes walking around it just to take the whole thing in.

Cabelas, itself is a huge store. It looks like a lodge made of logs, and the inside is quite spectacular. The ceiling in the center of the store must be 25-30ft high, with a mountain in the rear of the store (more later). The ceiling is lower on the right and left and has numerous big game head mounts on either side. The store is broken up by departments. Clothes in the center, fishing on the right, firearms on the left, boots/archery in the back with the hunting supplies.

The fishing department has a pretty good size walk through aquarium with a lot of species of  game fish from the north east. The tanks must be 8ft tall, and the fish are all of the large variety.  Pictures with descriptions are located at the base of the tanks.

The very back of the store has an out-cove with mounts from Africa, including an elephant and lions. They're displayed in a kind of natural type setting. The mountain, next to it, contains a lot of mounts from the big game found in North America and each side of the mountain depicts a different region in the US (mountain, forest, desert, etc). There's even a pond with live fish swimming around a one of the largest moose mounts I've ever seen.  Somewhere off to the left is a room full of deer trophies, also impressive.

Upstairs in the store is a restaurant, which serves a selection of typical grilled/deli foods, along with some of the more exotic stuff, like bison or emu. Unfortunately, from what I've tired, the food isn't that good, but that doesn't really detract from the store. The upstairs also houses the housewares/furniture department along with some hunting style art and gifts.

The entire left wall downstairs is devoted to firearms. If you like guns, this is the place. At least, to look. I found prices to be pretty much MSRP. I don't know how they are for bargaining but they have a pretty large selection of used rifles. If you're interested in that type of stuff, make sure you visit the firearms specialty room. It's near the front of the store on the left, flanked by the elephant tusks. The showcases house some of the more expensive/antique guns for sale, and you might see some truly rare pieces.

On the way out of the store, make sure you stop in the cabins set up outside the store. They're interesting to look around.

If you're in the Allentown area, make sure you stop in, even if you don't buy anything, the store is worth a visit.

This is my second favorite next to Bass Pro Shops, however if you are coming from far and come down Route 78 like I do then you might as well make a day out of the trip and visit both stores.

This store is massive but for some reason as much as I love it I find it to be a hunter's paradise.  Maybe it's just me though they do have a good selection for fishing equipment as well.  The store is an adventure in itself and of course I'm naturally attracted to the fishing tank they have.  It's pretty neat cause you walk into it like a cavern but not really a cavern.  This store has just about everything for the outdoors.

This place is fantastic.  So much more than just a store and you can easily spend several hours here.  There is a large selection of stuffed animals and live fish to look at. Make sure you have some quarters for the kids to buy some  fish food so they can feed the fish in the pond near the mountain in the back of the store. There is also a shooting gallery on the second floor that the kids can shoot targets.  If you enjoy hunting or fishing you can easily be here several hours.

I made the drive out to Cabela's a week or so ago to pick up a pair of waders for work.  I'm no hunter/fisherman so I felt a little weird and out of place.  This place was pretty neat though.  They have a huge "mountain" set up in the middle with a display of all sorts of animals.  The amount of items Cabela's has is pretty nuts too.  I also asked for help from one of the employees and he was extremely helpful and friendly.   Employees were friendly throughout the store, from the moment I came in, to the moment I left.  On the way out, I couldn't help it and got one of those packs of roasted almonds/cashews.  They were delicious.

I probably won't be returning here unless I need a new pair of waders, but I'm giving it a 4 cause it was a pretty cool experience and there are helpful, friendly employees here.

Cabela's interior dimensions are huge to the point of being almost vertigo-inducing..

You can buy boats and even log cabins here.  You can buy rare guns.  You can buy.. basically anything that will help you kill bambi.

The parking lot is maddening, the other customers are annoying, and there are horrible other businesses nearby.  (mcdonalds, wal-mart coming soon, huge awful boat & RV store)  But, Cabela's keeps Hamburg alive, and that's nice.

The view of the mountain from the Cabela's parking lot is great, though.  Growing up around here, you almost take it for granted.

I am not a fan of this store.  It gives me the creeps to have all of those dead animals looking at me.

I think that the clothes are cheaply made and over-priced.

Also, the bus loads of over weight middle Americans pouring into the store was visually arresting.  Seriously, I didn't know that America was that overweight.

IMHO this store has only one redeeming merit, and no other reviewers have mentioned it:  the Bargain Cave.

If you don't mind picking through things, you can find some GREAT bargains here.  I bought a down vest for $5.  I bought some other things I didn't know I needed until I saw them, too (like down-filled long underwear that were designed for hunters but came in handy waiting outside for the Obama inauguration).

The Bargain Cave is worth a detour off of 78.

Overall we always are pretty OK with our trips to Cabelas when we bring the kids... but we never go without them.  The set up is very cool and the kids really get a kick out of the mountain, the tents that are set up and the aquarium.

But if you are looking to eat... you are better off at the Wendy's across the street.  The food is... well not good.  It's cafeteria style service (which is fine, I'm happy to get my own food) and the food is generally not very fresh and is very over-priced.

I wasn't terribly impressed by this place. The prices are pretty expensive and the selection is not so great. It also was kind of scary seeing all the people showing up with their guns and cross bows slung over their shoulders.
Another thing I didn't like was the dead animals used as display.  The taxidermied african elephant that Mr. Cabela personally killed was seriously a tragedy. I didn't realize that modern men still do this barbaric sport.
I've never been into hunting and fishing and was here for a meeting in one of their conference rooms. I did look for a good led flashlight, hiking pants and a bike mount for my Garmin GPS during breaks. I came up empty on all 3. I needed batteries for my recorder and I paid $12.99 for 4 batteries I could have bought at Target for $6.99. For me this store wasn't so great, but, If you're looking for ammo and camo you'll probably enjoy this store a whole lot more than I did

I visited Cabelas the other day while in the area. it is HUGE! I mean, I'd stop by just to see it, but I wouldnt go shopping there, I did look at their selection of tents, most were in the kind-of-expensive to expensive range. But the cool thing is that they have this huge diorama around the store and also a very large aquarium. Theres a big statue of a canoe outside too. So much growth has sprung up around there it's amazing. The lines were long, and the store was packed, it took about 5 minutes to find a decent parking spot. They did give me an application for a credit card. (apply & you'll get a 10% off coupon & a free hat.) This was neat, but dont go out of your way to see it. Kennels, RV hookups, you name it it's got it.

Cabelas.  Lots of huntin'  fishin' campin' stuff.  Lots of men (and women) in mossy oak cammo.  Lots of rifles, shotguns, and ammo.  Over priced cafeteria food.  My husband and sons love this place.  Me, not so much.  As Ms. Felicia said, hundreds of manly men congregated in one place, so if you are looking for a manly man, this is your place.  I say;  Cabelas, where the odds are good, but the goods are odd.
