Super service. Excellent sloppy joes! (See Welton B.'s review, 20.May.2008, for definition of sloppy joe - I'm not from New Jersey, so this was new to me.) Family owned deli who probably know each of their clients by name. Not many places to sit, but a comfortable place to sit and visit. Great stuff!!

You will never find a better sandwich than C&J's sloppy joe. It's ham and cheese on three slices of bread, with cole slaw and their special sauce--a secret recipe imparted to them by a long-departed German master, obviously a supertaster with an inhuman number of fungiform papillae. People actually come from other states to order these up. A NOTE FOR NON-New Jersey READERS: "Sloppy Joe" in NJ does not refer to those awful hamburger and sauce "manwich" crap abominations. It is the sandwich to end all sandwiches, and CJ's makes the best in the world. All the other stuff they make is great too. It's a deli, and they serve to please, whatever you want, but the sloppy joe is their standard, their benchmark, their raison d'etre, their ... well, you get the picture. Just eat one, already! And tell Johnny Blair that Welton sent you! Note: they also offer joes with turkey, roast beef, and, on special occasions, egg salad and tuna fish salad. So you've got NO EXCUSE to not indulge in this otherworldly treat, this manna, this Olympian triumph of gustational science...
