One of the only places in Avalon that serves sorbet. They were even so nice as to go back in to the walk-in and get us the lemon flavor that was not out.
We did not try the sandwiches but I noted they looked gourmet and were $9.75-$15 each. That's even on the slightly higher side even for Catalina.
$14 for a sandwich on dry bread. I had olive bread caprese sandwich & asked if she could add a liitle prosciutto & I'd pay extra for it. She kinda stopped & scoffed & said ok reluctantly. Weird since up to this point she was all friendly. Boyfriend ordered club sandwich with no mustard.
We went next door & sat down to wait for ours sandwiches & 1 drink. Seriously sat there for at least 15. Waiting. Waiting. Doesn't take that long to make a sandwich. And there was no one infront of us at all.
So sandwiches finally come. Garnished with a sliver of a pickle. They forget napkins & our drink. Bread was dry & falling apart on my sandwich. The boar's head prosciutto lacked flavor. Mozzerella cheese wasn't of high quality. Had the rough cheaper texture & not smooth & creamy like a good one should be. My boyfriend hated his sandwich. They put lots of mustard & weird sauce on it. Even tho he asked for a dry sandwich. He tried to scrape it off but it was everywhere. Hungry, he ate half & chucked the second half away. When we threw our trays away I notice more unfinished sandwiches in the bin.
I wanted to like this place. It has the looks, the possibilities, but lacked taste & flavor. Save your $$. Over priced sandwiches boo! Why'd you pretend to look delicious?
Boar's Head has always taken their meats and cheeses very seriously...luckily CC Deli does the same with their sandwiches! The wife and I were drawn in by the promise of quality Boar's Head cuts....and I was definitely NOT disappointed. VERY friendly and helpful lady working there by the way.
Very "homely" interior with an interesting assortment of random gourmet jellies, spreads, oils, pastas, chocolate, chips, etc. Great selection of cheeses on display...enough to make Urkel jizz in his jeans....wow, how's that for an outdated and inappropriate reference! you're right to be ashamed and I'm sorry =)
Anywho, the wife gets the Turkey avocado on white (quite delicious in its own right) and I opt for sumn' spicy....Chicken Chipotle samich which has roasted chicken, hot pepper jack and cheddar cheeses, roasted red peppers, chipotle peppers, lettuce and tomato on Rosemary bread. Also got some great quality sliced turkey for my baby to chow down on to go!
We get back to our room and I am VERY pleasantly surprised with my creation...hearty thick cuts of the chicken piled high, delicious quality cheese, the peppers give it a great spicy flavor...pair that with some deli bbq chips and an ale....what more can you ask for? I wasn't even that hungry but I devoured the whole thing and practically had to unhinge my jaw to put the whole thing in my mouth....and, yes, Michael Scott...that's what she said.
Nice sandwich but waaaay too expensive. But, it is a nice place away from the strip mallish type run of mill places that are all over the Avalon.
I had a brie, red pepper, spinach and prociutto ham (sp) sandwich, very nice. On Olive bread.
The owner of the deli was so nice and we talked alot. I was there for 5 days So everytime I saw her, we talked, like an old friend.
I would recommend this place for atmosphere and a great change of the average!
Listed as CC Beau Boars Head Deli on Google. Shares a shop with Bloom Floral Design.
I spoke about this place briefly in my review of the related shop: CC Gallagher. As you might guess by the names, they are related.
This place absolutely rocks. It is a gem too easily lost on this island. Unfortunately for them, they are located next to the worst Mexican food on the island so I tried to avoid that area as much as possible with dire consequences and great personal detriment.
This place is an all-in-one. They have exotic specialty foods from Europe. This includes excellent chocolates, chocolate spreads, jams and other similar items. They also have a gift shop and floral design, which is certainly impressive. The place is also a deli and has THE BEST ice cream on the island. Did I say the best? The others don't even compare. Why oh why did it take me so long to find this place?
They have a great selection of breads, cheeses. There is a deli with plenty of excellent gourmet options. Let's talk about that gelato again. Yum.
Oh and the service was beyond friendly. So cheerful, so upbeat, and helpful. We got to know them almost by accident while ordering ice cream. They were enthusiastic and genuine about describing all the delicacies they had to offer without being in any way pushy.
If you are near Avalon, you have to go here.
Came here due to the previous review. The place has great potential but I just don't think they do enough business to be great and keep every ting super fresh. The menu looked great but the bread on our sandwich was way too dry. We ended up throwing it out. Kind of pricey too...$12 for one sandwich...but that's Avalon for ya!
Slightly hidden all-organic, fresh gourmet deli, produce market & food gift shop. Local favorite for lunch... Nice cheese case too. Open 10-5ish.
