Really, do you know of any other league that maintains stats and produces write-ups of EVERY game?  Do you know of a league that maintains a forum where everyone just trash talks each other (out of jest of course)? Is there a league in this city that puts up lines/previews of the games the night before?  Chances are you don't.   These reasons are more than enough for 5 stars.   Every game is reffed (quality is debatable, but still!), and competitive.  It's well-maintained, organized, and generally just a lot of fun.

I've been playing for the past year in multiple leagues and I still get joy in seeing my name in a write-up or when I see my James Posey-esque stat line of 7 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals (ok, I could be exaggerating.......).

It's a decent league for the money, but expect mediocre (at best) referees, old gyms with old rims and backboards, and dusty floors. Also, good teams like to play in lower leagues (B2, C) so they can be one of the best teams and kick other teams' butts. So if you are not one of the better teams in the league, you will probably get frustrated by the lack of competitive balance. (CAC does nothing to proactively match teams of similar skill. Teams voluntarily choose their own division.)

As I said, it's a good deal for the money, but just be aware that you get what you pay for, and nothing more.

This is truly a great basketball league. There are several different competitive levels that can fit any skill level. What makes this league unique from BSSC and the others is the website. The infamous Bfab and Tibbs do a great job posting every players stats, game lines, previews, game summaries, and orchestrate All-Star games at the end of the season. It's those little things that make crappy basketball players like me feel like they still have something and keep coming back.

History

Established in 2000

The league started in 2000 with 6 teams of C.A.C. gym members. The novel concept of tracking statistics for a recreational basketball league was a hit with the players. With humorous recaps of games played, the league differentiated itself from others in the Boston area. As word spread, players outside of C.A.C. wanted to put in their own teams.

In 2004 the League set up it's own dedicated website where players could find their stats and write-ups online. Players received profiles that tracked their stats and were updated each game.  2006 debuted the Women's leagues and in 2007 full court 5v5 leagues were added. As with the 4v4 leagues played at C.A.C., these leagues had to be split based on competition and skilled as they became more popular.

Over 400 teams played in the leagues in the 2010 calendar year as Co-Ed and Corporate leagues were formed. The 2011 year promises even bigger and better things from Boston's best recreational basketball league.

All skill levels are welcome!

Since taking over from the Commish in 2007, Tibbs has continued to nurture the expansion C.A.C. Basketball. Through new leagues and playing levels each season the league has continued its rapid growth, with over 400 teams and over 3000 individuals participating in the 2010 calender year.

Through social media (we are active on Facebook and Twitter) the league's online presence continues to grow and become more influential. Constant updates and online interactions are often overlooked but play a key role in the league's advertising and popularity.  If you need to reach him for any reason, please email CACBasketball@gmail.com
