Great food with commensurate prices, but you can't get there from here.
BWOM sits on NE 12 Avenue immediately on the east side of the FEC railroad tracks. From Oakland Park Blvd you can only access it directly from the westbound lanes; otherwise you have to go up Dixie Hwy to NE 34 Court and head back south to their front door. As of the middle of September 2008 the street is being revamped as part of the foo-foo-ization of downtown Oakland Park, so BWOM might be closed until that is done. Call first.
Once inside you will receive a personal tour of their display case showing your meal choices for the evening. I'm talking the kind of meal that you might see in an Iron Chef competition, with presentation on the plate to match. This is a catering company with a retail front-end and their food is top notch. Good wine list as well. The atmosphere is classy, understated elegance with an upscale clientele.
I'd eat there more often if I had the bucks. I have never been disappointed the 4 times I have eaten here in the past. Oh, and I learned about this place from a friend, by word of mouth.
This is the top of the food chain for dining. It deserves 6 stars. Do not miss this place. The bakery is the best I've ever experienced. We get all our special occasion cakes from here. Pricey, but definitely worth every penny. Again, do not miss this place.
To my Yelp community...By Word of Mouth has a special summer all inclusive menu! For $35 you get the choice of a great appetizer, salad, entree and desert. This is your chance if you have not been here to try this place out. They are going to carry this price menu through Dine Out Ft. Lauderdale, but don't wait, go now and enjoy it several times before it is over. I recommend calling ahead as the number of tables are limited and they will be going on vacation some time in August. Be prepared for one of the best meals you have ever had! Enjoy.
