Now I am not a country boy. But I was curious about Bushwhacker's for a long time. I went in last spring (09) and I was impressed. First off, there is lot's to look at there; memerabilia, collectables, and pretty girls. I know they didn't look my way because I wore Kachi's but there was a lot of eye candy.
Additionally the Happy Hour was G-R-E-A-T! A $4 burger and fries, a good one too! And $2 pints. I had a great meal and two beers and a tip for $10 even.
I went late one night to see the line dancing and girls (again). What a great crowd. All having fun, no gang bangers, all the smoking is outside now, it was really a fun night.
So I am a regular HH guy and an occasional late night guy, C U there!
So these Portland hipsters walk into a country bar...
It's not the beginning of a joke, it was my Saturday night.
Let me be frank, there's probably not enough alcohol in the world to convince this ex-pat Texan that line dancing is a good idea. There is also not enough alcohol in the world to convince me that it's alright for a bunch of gross old men to TOUCH MY FANNY. Multiple times. MY fanny. Do. not. touch. it.
Aside from that, I recommend this bar to all Portlanders who want a bizarre ass cultural experience... though, unless you're the kind of exhibitionisty person who wouldn't mind an entire bar starting at you while you dance, you might want to avoid that, because that seems to be way Bushwackers rolls. Though, the taxidermy and kitschy signage ("good cowgirls keep their calves together"... what?) are helpful in quelling that whole gawking vibe.
By the way, what the hell is a Bushwacker? No, seriously.

Bushwackers is where my Paw and my Step-Maw met, twas the year 1999. They tied the knot in Reno, Nev soon after and have been going strong ever since.
This is a good place for a beer and burger during happy hour which is from 3:30 to 7pm A burger is $4 and a cheeseburger is $4.50, with fries or onion rings. $5 cover after 7pm.
The interior is sort of like a log cabin inside with exposed logs on the walls and benches and things.
The service is good. I think there are free dance lessons for West Coast Swing and line dancing before the cover goes into effect.
It can be pretty smoky inside, but because of the high ceiling it doesn't seem as bad, but there isn't a non-smoking section, I don't think.

I came here with friends to kill some time before a high school basketball game. The Happy Hour was solid, wings are great, not too saucy but still spicy. The drinks were pretty cheap and I could see how this would be a hot spot for line dancing at night. The service was decent.

I came here with a group of people I work with and until walking up to the place had no idea that it was a country bar. That said, I don't really fit the mold. I don't own wranglers or a ten gallon hat.
The place itself wasn't horrible for what it was. There's a huge dance floor if you're into that sort of thing, pitchers of beer weren't too expensive and they even offer dancing lessons a few hours before the place gets packed so you can learn how to perform those not so complicated country dance steps. When 90% of your crowd is in boots you've got to keep the dances simple. Right?

If you like country music, this is the place for you. You can line dance your little heart out.
The service was great, plenty of places to sit and if your early you may get a crack at one of the pool tables.
Good times were had by all.
Saw Bucky Covington there yesterday and he's the funniest Idol male singer to see live. Coyote Creek opened for him.

Very cool theme throughout this Country & Western Dance Hall & Saloon. The food is good, the drinks are good, the service is decent, and the folks are friendly. They have live bands and a very huge dance floor. Not sure if they still have whatever dance lessons they used to have, but I thought about giving it a try and sort of forgot until now. They are open for lunch as well as dinner. A very cool little place!
