For my birthday, I planned a nice, relaxing getaway to Cambria for the weekend.  So what's more relaxing then a bed and breakfast???  Wasn't too sure seeing as it was our first bed and breakfast ever...But why the heck not right??

So we made reservations for Suite #17(Highly Recommended)...

The Burton Inn is separated into two buildings:  The main building is where breakfast is served and evening wine is held along with a few of the suites and the second building houses the rest of the suites.  #17 is located in the second building on the top floor.

When we walked into our suite, the first thing we see is our huge, luxurious looking bed!  To the left is the living room where you have a tv, couch, table with chairs, fridge, microwave, and toaster.  I had no idea we would be so equipped!!!

Back to the bedroom area.  You have another bigger tv that has a dvd player/VHS player (What the heck is a VHS player??? =) )  The closet was as big as ours at home, and has a dresser inside.

The bathroom was very nice, clean, and spacious.  The tub was awesome (took advantage of it both nights I was there)!  But no lock on the bathroom door...I have a very nosy husband folks; I need a lock!

Breakfast in the morning was very relaxed and filling.  Wine and Cheese in the evening was fun...I love talking and meeting new people!

Plenty of parking in their lot or on the street.

The Burton Inn is exactly, what I think, a bed and breakfast should be:  A place to re-coop, relax, and let go.

For $99 you get a room that is the size of a luxury apartment with a really nice living room with couch, tv with dvd and cable. It even had VHS.

We were shocked at how spacious the room was! The web site does not do justice for the size of the room. The king size bed we slept on was so comfortable it was like being in a palace. The $99 room  for two could honestly house a family of four comfortably.

The place has Wi Fi so I can yelp to my hearts content even while on vacation.

The Burton Inn is centrally located. There are a large selection of really fine restaurants a stonesthrow from the inn. You can wine taste right next door at Fermentations and then have a great meal at Robins, just across the street. Walk a little further and there are tons of wine tasting bars and fine restaurants.

Teri (spelling) and Jim the owners are really sweet and so attentive. They have a huge dvd collection that you can check out for your room. The breakfast is continental, with bagels, cereal, yogurt, steel cut oatmeal with all the fixings, english muffins, scones, energy bars and a good selection of teas and coffee. They also do eggs if you want as well.

I think we found our new getaway!

This was a comfortable suite in a hotel that is walking distance from everything, hosted by a kind and helpful couple. Our room was very large with three beds, and there were two TVs, a DVD player, and a refridgerator and microwave. We enjoyed the DVD collection, the 5pm wine time, and the breakfast. This would be a good place for a big family to go for a beach-town cabin experience.

With that said, the room wasn't for us, a couple. It was on the first floor, street-side, and the curtain was broken. We had to stand on a chair to close it all the way. Plus, the bathroom door (which faced the toilet) bizarrely was not made of solid wood but see-through plastic panes. The decor was circa 1986 with peeling wallpaper, and a couple of our towels had holes in them.

Since there were bunk beds in the room, I'm thinking that this suite was more for a big family and not so much for a couple. It would be great for groups!

The husband and I stayed here last weekend while in Cambria and visiting Hearst Castle for our anniversary. It was a very pleasant place to stay. Jim and Terry are wonderful hosts; Jim hosts wine in the library in the evenings, and Terry cooked waffles one morning and scrambled eggs the next, in addition to the good spread of hardboiled eggs, fresh oatmeal, fresh bread, and some fresh fruit.

The room was very nice. All the rooms have a bedroom, bathroom, and separate sitting room, which was quite spacious. There was a flat panel TV in the sitting room, and a TV with a VCR and DVD player in the bedroom. The hosts have a DVD library downstairs that you can peruse. The wireless was quite helpful, as my iPhone got no service in this part of Cambria. Their little pooch, Sophia, was quite the princess. The two nights, friday and saturday, came to $300 and change everything included.

The couple who own this hotel are super nice!

They gave me a super huge room with a king size bed and a huge bathroom. Two TVs, a refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot. I even had a bay window! Doesn't get better then that. Not to mention a little patio area and a couch that is also a bed. For only $139 a night! (My mom and I shared the room it was our mini vacation!)

The owners also host a nice little "happy hour" Serving Wine and Cheese. And a complimentary breakfast in the morning. I really didn't want to leave.....=(

My wife and I stayed here on a Friday night for a 3-day weekend getaway.  I was surprised when I realized where the Burton is located, within walking distance of some of the nicest shops and restaurants Cambria has to offer.
Check-in made us feel like First-Class VIPs, and our room was palatial and beautifully appointed.  We missed wine service in favor of a much-needed nap, but our request for suggestions for a late dinner spot yielded several thoughtful suggestions.
We mentioned to our hostess that we were both on a low-carb diet, which led to the most wonderful surprise of all -- our hostess offered to serve scrambled eggs with ham and cheese for breakfast, just so we could stick to our diet!  It was a level of customer service I did not expect at all.
So why just four stars?  If I could give it four and a half, I would.  This may be picky -- but there were a few details that could be improved.  The shower door was off its track and needed to be repaired.  The towel bar was loose and fell to the floor.  The movie we picked out to watch was worn out, and the audio only worked part of the time.  Are any of these a reason not to stay at the Burton?  Absolutely NOT!!!  But when there are places out there that get every single detail perfect, I'll save that last star for them.

We loved our stay at the Burton Inn for our 10 year anniversary. The owners were out of the country so their son Jason and his fianc Shay took care of us. They are the nicest people! Check in was a breeze! Our room [#17] was beautifully decorated with an asian theme. We had a living room with refrigerator and microwave! My husband loved the 2 TVs so he could watch his sports center. The bed was very, very comfy and the sheets were soft.  The bathroom was huge!
The wine and cheese hour was served from 5-7 pm.  Here you mingled with the guests and the inn keepers.  It's held in the library and there isn't a lot of space and the seating face each other so you're "forced" to talk. Thank god talking is not a problem of mine!  They also have movies DVD and VHS [what's that?] and a good selection to choose. Since the town of Cambria is not known for their nightlife - we found ourselves looking for movie rentals every night!
Breakfast the next morning [served from 8-10 am] was deluxe continental style with pastries, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, yogurt, nuts, etc. Also, they serve one extra dish. When we were there it was blueberry waffles [with fresh blueberries] on Sat, and french toast on Sunday.
Overall, a great stay and hospitable hosts!! We would definitely stay here again if our travels take us to Cambria. Thank you Jason and Shay and the Burton Inn!
