Burlington International Airport
13 reviews for Burlington International Airport
I love this airport. Prolly cuz as a kid they would wheel the stairs over so we could de-plane. No longer, it's a full fledged airport.
It's very easy to get to, parking is a non-issue and security is a breeze.
Plus I can buy boxes of yummy maple candy on my way out - so bad and oh so good.

This is such a tiny little airport and the only reason it is considered international is because it goes to Canada! Should that even count? I flew JetBlue roundtrip to JFK and really enjoyed the experience. I bought a Vermont t-shirt and some candy before wandering over to my gate to wait for the plane to board. It boarded from both the front and the back which made it go a lot faster. Also the security check people were nice and smiley and even when reprimanding me for not telling them about some sunscreen I had in my bag (who knew?) they did it with smiles on their faces. I love Vermont and this was just a nice way to end my trip up there from the big bad city.

This airport is pretty fantastic. Small but cute (and free wi-fi, can't beat that). Comfy chairs near baggage claim. I have no complaints.

I have the pleasure of flying out of BTV probably 4 or 5 times a year for work. Compared to other airports, Burlington's is a breath of fresh air. From the rocking chairs in the walkway to the garage, to the free wifi, to the sheer simplicity & friendliness of everyone there, the place is a joy to travel to & from.
The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars? When your flight is at 6am, there is nothing open between security & the gate.

I love this tiny airport!
There's only one terminal. There's never a pile of cars pick/dropping off people. Parking is FREE for the first 20 minutes! There's never a line at the security check point. The interior is crisp, natural, and calm.
Best airport ever!

This airport ROCKS. First of all, if your best friend from growing up shows up to pick you up, only to find out that your flight is delayed for 45 minutes, it still only costs him $1 to park.
Second, if your best friend from growing up is busy sticking needles into people when you need to fly out and then you lose track of time because you're laying around watching movies with your godson and all of a sudden it's 4:00 and you have a flight at 5:15 and you are at least 45 minutes from the airport, you don't really need to freak out. You'll be fine. I was. Nobody even seemed stressed out about how late I was.
Of course that flight ended up getting canceled, but it wasn't the fault of
Burlington Airport - it was my own stupid fault because I should know better than to book a flight that connects through O'Hare during the winter. Or the summer. Or the spring. Or the fall. Fuck O'Hare. But the extremely wonderful guy at the United counter helped me out - he suggested I get on a flight to Dulles and then fly to SFO from there. He was right - and I'm lucky he was so helpful because as other people discovered the idea, the 6:55 Burlington to Dulles flight quickly filled up as it became evident that nobody was getting into O'Hare. It's nice to be a pretty girl with great tits and have people fall all over themselves do things for you. I'm kidding - I'm sure he would have done the same for you. But not for you, you're a creep.
It sucks that the bar is outside of the security area, but it's such a small airport that it's not really that big of a deal to get through security a few times. Plus, you can see the gates from the bar window and watch when the plane pulls up to it and down your drink and leisurely walk through security and onto your plane.
In the hierarchy of domestic airports, you have Burlington on one end of the spectrum and the hell known as O'Hare on the other.

P.S. It's been brought to my attention that no airport deserves 5 stars. BUT this is Vermont - in this airport, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a hot boy. That, my friends, deserves 5 stars.

I have terrible planekarma. For real. I think in the last 100,000 miles of flying I have arrived on time, with my baggage, approximately zero times. Its so bad now that my boss refuses to book flights that I'm already booked on. JeannetteZ gets all depressed when we take vacation together. Its not good. I must have done something really awful in a previous life to get this bad luck.
Thanks to the inclement winter/springs in Vermont I've had the pleasure of spending many hours waiting in the Burlington Airport Departure Lounge on delayed flights. Don't get me wrong. Its not that bad. Parking is easy and convenient. The checkin desks are never that busy. I have bunked at worse airports. The seats in the lounge are not that comfy though. I like the way airport security take their job very seriously (I'm sorry for making the joke about the razor...) Once you're in the departure lounge, there's really not much choice in the way of food. There is only one local vendor serving sandwiches, muffins and coffee/water. The views are pretty good though. You get to see them de-icing your plane (happens alot up here) and occasionally the local marines do a low level flypast in their F16s. The sonic boom is sometimes loud enough to cause the old woman sitting across from you (the one with the knitting needles & 1950s spectacles) to fill up her "Depends".

Unlike Superman, I hate flying. But if and when I have to fly to Vermont's "Queen City", I perk up a bit... Why? It's a more personable
gauntlet than most airports . The more laid back vibe makes the aforementioned gauntlet a little easier on the psyche. It, like Burlington itself, has grown a lot in the 30 years (whew!) since I graduated from college, but I'll still take it over, oh, Dulles
anyday!

This is the only airport where I've been able to show up for a 5:25 flight at 5:00 and make it through security and onto the flight with no problems. It helps that the place only has about 15 gates, and the staff is actually friendly.
If a flight gets delayed, though - especially a JetBlue flight - the terminal gets pretty damn crowded. Also, there's nothing but a vending machine and a coffee cart (which, in flying in and out of BTV at least 12 times, I have NEVER seen open) beyond security, so stock up on food before you go through... oh, wait. You can't. "TSA regulations blah blah blah thanks for making me suffer for three hours in your crappy gate area with a nasty hangover and no fluids to drink."

This airport is small and simple, we flew here on a small United shuttle. The plane was too small to use a jetway, so we walked off the runway and directly into baggage claim. Total time between landing and airport exit, 7 minutes. Leaving is just as simple, quick ticket grab, quick security check point. I have nothing bad to say about this airport, maybe new Airports should be built smaller for better service.

Ah, the BTV. It's little, but I like it. I wish it were cheaper to fly into, but I guess that is a lot to ask. I appreciate the bar and restaurant upstairs. I feel kind of lucky to have them, even if there aren't a variety of places to choose from. The airport is so small, having a restaurant, bar and coffee kiosks is a blessing. And the airport is really clean---all the time. And maybe it is a result of the size, but baggage comes out mere seconds after landing.

Not much more I can add! Been in and out of BTV and the previous reviews get it right, especially early in the morning be ready to go without your coffee beyond security. But its a small sacrifice for the shortest check-in and security times I've seen in the numerous airports I've been in and out of in my life.

Nice, clean airport. Small, but getting bigger with the new expansion. Now with FREE WiFi. Yippee!
