What do you do when you're picking up someone at the airport and at the last minute, their flight gets delayed?
Well make sure to pack an club or two and drop by the Burlingame Golf Center. It's a lot better than cruising the airport or baking in the cellphone lot. Burlingame golf center is only 5 minutes away from the airport and worth checking out.
Be careful when looking for the place. The turn into the parking lot is right next to the 101 on ramp. I almost made an unnecessary loop the first time I went. On the flip side, it's great, because its insanely easy to get back onto the freeway for your airport pickup!
I dropped by the other day on a lark; I think I'll be going "early" from now on when I have to pick up somebody at the airport!
Yeah, Just OK. So the facility is really nice - feels so fresh n so clean. They do have a nice 70yrd approach/pitching range (though it costs a bit to use it). They do have plenty of stalls and a lot of area and good parking, and friendly staff...
SO why only 3 stars? It ain't their fault but dammit unless ur practicing up for a tournament the Bahamas during hurricane season its pretty tough to work on ur fade when the wind is constantly blowing 100 mph this way and that. OK maybe not 100 but every time I've been there its gusting. It just doesn't represent the environment of any course I play (though granted some bay area courses are pretty windy).
If you're looking for a nicer place to hit balls, with the serene rolling hills and poor clueless dear who are unwittingly everyone's targets while munching the bermuda tift - try Crystal Springs GC up off 280 - they have a range and decent prices - can be crowded - so don't go at peak. But if you are in fact going to BGC - bring a wind beaker, some ear muffs, and a graphing calculator to figure what the true flight of that 4 iron would have been in standard earthly conditions.
Great place to come and whack some balls! Try and get there before 5:30ish otherwise you will have the sun in your eyes and not see where you're hitting em'. Fair pricing for the area, artificial turf and plenty of stalls. They even have a short game area here. When you are done grab a bite to eat or a beer @ Gabriel & Daniel's, just inside. In here you will also find a little pro shop.
Good range rates, parking spaces up the ying yang, great cafe, clean, gorgeous sunset view, and plenty of window watching from the soccer field and airport.
This is a great driving range for the price. Just don't be fooled by the freeway entrance because the center is located right before.
I've been here three times in the last 2 weeks and I haven't hit a single golf ball. A friend recommended this place for the excellent Mexican food. I thought he was joking, but I ordered fajitas and got this:

Tastes as good as it looks! I've had the tacos and burritos and they are equally impressive.
The first time I came out here, I thought I had the wrong place because all I saw was the clubhouse building with no obvious signage for food. I drove by the clubhouse, decided I was at the wrong place and ended up eating at the diner across the street.
Its so odd to find such good food at a driving range that i had to write my first yelp review. woo hoo! As a bonus, the guy at the counter is extraordinarily polite.
Tons of parking space. Right next to 101.
I'll get my clubs out here soon and review the driving range.
Great quiet place for fine tuning your swing. Lots of parking, lots of stalls. Two great putting greens.
Sometimes the sun can get in your eye, so bring sunglasses.
Situated right off the 101 Freeway, the golf center is located in a very nice part of the Bay where you can hear the airplanes land and you're about a 10 minute walk from the actual Bay.
The driving range facilities are top-notch and the matt that I was on barely showed any wear. They have designated spots for lefty swingers as well which was a nice touch. They have driving range stalls with a roor and they have spots that are exposed to the sun if you need to get your tan on. You are driving the ball up a slight incline hill so it will probably be hard for you to gauge exactly how far you are hitting the ball if you're unleashing your driver.
The driving range prices are ridiculous as I purchased their 320 ball $20 monster bucket. Mistake on my part as my arms were dead by the time I was done.
The staff here is extremely friendly and helpful. The machine that I used to purchase the monster bucket was out of balls and they promptly came out and got the other machine to fill my bucket.
New, nice, clean, tons of parking, right off the freeway, located next to a soccer field, in case you're waiting for your kid to finish up their game, you can hit some balls.
Reasonable prices, lots of stalls, never waited for a stall, maybe waited for two stalls that were next to each other. Nice view, fresh air (sort of).
the quesadilla at the caf is good!!! The salsa is good.
this place is nicer than sneath lane golf center. the weather is better in this area, but this place can get kind of windy though since its located at the top of a hill (landfill) in an open area.
Went there last week for the first time and loved it. Easy to find, lots of parking, clean, helpful staff, and plenty of room to drive the balls a whopping 30 feet (I'm a beginner!). Like that there are stalls waaayyy down at the end, so that when I go alone the next time, I can be a hack in private. Hope to take lessons this summer.
Cafe looks nice, too! Heard the food is really good.
Update 5/22/08:
Going back here for my driving range practice and was so happy to have the end to myself. I'm definitely not the hack I was (thanks Ron!) and since I now have my own club/tee I feel like such a 'member' - hahahhaha!
4.8 stars
Great place! Friendly staff, easy to get to, and nice facility. Got my driver re-shafted there and they really knew what they were doing. Most of the little rubber tees were missing from the driving range mattes...but other than that it was 5 stars. The Mexican grille there is amazing! We had a taco salad and a quesadilla...both were top notch. Beers, homemade salsas (bottled for sale too), margaritas...hey...why am slicing so much?
275 balls for $17 bucks!!! You can't beat that price. Excellent practice facilites and short game area. Always ample mats at the range and never a wait. I love this place!
HOLY WIND BATMAN!!
My goodness, this place can get some COLD WIND! I was hitting into 30 mph wind. The facilities are nice and clean. I give this place between a 3 and a 4. But I sided with the 4 because the greens are smooth and lightning quick. You can really work on your putting here, that's for sure. The greens are also downhill from back to front, and it's not for the faint of heart, but makes for excellent practice.
The driving range is nice, but nothing special. The mats are lousy. They look nice from far away, but once you are on them, you better check your loft and lies after finishing, because they are like hitting off concrete. The place is clean though, so I will give it that. There are tons of stalls, so that's also a plus, but the WIND cannot be overly exaggerated. It was painful. Oh, and the staff isn't friendly. They are just there.
My husband and I had never been to a driving range before. We researched online and decided to try this one. The staff was super helpful, they had free clubs we could borrow to see if it was fun, and the cost was super reasonable. The people on both sides of us gave us their extra balls when they got tired, and we had a blast for 1.5 hours on $13. We'll be back again soon!
handsome driving range 'n' short game facilities....abundance of stalls...artificial mats....straight 'n' wide...straight through range layout....test full driver potential....long drive possible...pricing reasonable.....standard $7 small (60)...$11 medium (105)...$13 large (160)....$17 family (285)....and nominal short game facility charges applies...lax during a weekday afternoon...quite peaceful...for lunch break range session...
Great place to hit balls, work on your long game, chip, putt, etc. Very large target area, plenty of targets in the short range. There is a short game area for an added fee where you can chip, putt, etc. Very nice facilities.
