What a great little spot. The food is always delicious and made to order. The employees are always friendly and courteous. They are quick and efficient and there is rarely a line up or wait time to be served.

The menu is a little pricey for what you get, but the food tastes great, so it evens out.

This is a classic local spot, I treat home town hero restaurants like these kind of like fast food places..I usually don't like to review them unless they have something special going on either good or bad. The reason I do this is because they all kind of follow the same path and The Burger spot is no different with the usual mix of burgers, onions rings, and Chili fries.

Nothing here is bad, though nothing here is really stand out, but I don't think that's really the point it's definitely better than fast food, and way chill they have a internet jukebox and it's a nice place for me and my lady to chill out and have a meal. It's local, it's part of this towns history and it has it's place.

Now I know this may sound like a bad review but really it isn't, the cynic in me often times hates the foodie in me, citing the fact that I like most foodies (or any other critics for that matter) tend to over think everything and expect every restaurant to serve up food on a freshly sprayed and bikini clad Monica Bellucci. So when my inner Cynic punches my inner foodie douche, I arrive at that point where I steer clear of the restaurants who have something to prove and have created a nice amount of buzz for themselves, and I avoid the other establishments that call out for me to take a chance even though it's clear that they could careless if I came and enjoyed my meal or came ate and exploded, and I head straight to the reliability of one of my towns local spots. It's Simple, no fuss, and I can just be, and when I get that feeling places like this is what I need.

    STATS:

Simple, Straight to the point, you know what you're getting.

    In Closing:

It may not be the food place I think about all the time, but it like other local spots like it will draw me in when I want to keep it simple.

Every time I have wanted to go to this place, it has been closed. Finally, we managed a take out order. Why the desire to go to a greasy burger joint?? Well, they serve ostrich burgers! The ostrich comes from Indian Point Ostrich Farm in Cummings Valley! Being a fan of local food and alternative foods, this one was for me.

My ostrich burger was yummy. Done medium, it was the perfect texture, having that lean, beefy taste that you expect.  I would have preferred different burger dressings, since they prepared the burger with the usual lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cheese and thousand island-type dressing. I think something like spinach with goat cheese and onions would have brought out the ostrich flavor more, but alas, I got what they serve.

My friend and I came here due to the promise of a good burger and fries.  However, they were not to be had at the Burger Spot.  I paid $15!! for a regular beef burger (not even their Ostrich specialty), chili fries and a shake.  The burger was edible, not special.  The "chili" on the cheese fries was just ground beef, with American cheese melted on it.  And the shake was just ice cream with a (very) little bit of milk in it, and poorly blended.  My friend ordered the onion rings, which were clearly frozen and contained more onion flavoring powder than actual onion.

Not impressed at all- the employees were more interested in chatting with their (undoubtedly local) friends than making and serving our food, and the prices were pretty outrageous, especially for the quality of food.  I recommend avoiding it.

Meh.  The food was decent but we weren't overly impressed.  Woman at the front must have been having a bad day and walked off in the middle of our order.  Didnt tell us we had to watch for when our food was ready, then let it sit on the counter even though it wasnt a busy time.  At least they put the shake in the fridge.

Husband ordered a chili burger and it came in a paper wrapper like a regular burger.  Not sure how they expected him to eat it but he asked for a knife & fork and took a run at it.  Said the chili was good but it looked kinda funky from where I sat.  Fries and chocolate malt shake were excellent.  Teriyaki chicken bowl wasn't bad, but it looked more like a stir-fry.   I'm from Hawaii and I've never seen a Teri bowl with anything but rice & meat in it.  This one had onions and some lettuce/cabbage in it...don't know what it was, I ate around it.  Teri sauce and quality of chicken were good.  Prices were decent as far as small town burger stands go.  Would go back.

Persuaded to try this place based off other reviews here. Got a guacamole burger expecting either slices of avocado or chunks of guacamole. FALSE. Instead it was the guacamole impersonator- A liquid form of avocado was on my burger. So disappointing. My friend enjoyed his meal, but he just eats burgers with meat and cheese. On a positive note, the place was clean and had comfortable booths.

**Edit 02/2011: While the staff did not mention anything abt the Guac sauce, I commend the owner for replying and updated my review.

If ever you find yourself in Tehachapi -  maybe on a road trip coming back from the desert, or needing a bite to eat after visiting Uncle Lou at CCI Tehachapi, the Burger Spot is the place.  Road trips require fast food and the comforting health department letter "A" in the window tells you this place is a safe bet.  The burgers are made to order, really good and far better than anything at fast food chain.  Plus the genuine retro look of the place is cool too.

Burger Spot has some very tasty burgers! Their ice cream drinks seem overpriced, but everything else appears priced appropriately.  I like the service and enjoy the fries too.

Lived in T-town for six years.  Best burger in town was found at Burger Spot.  Not sure how it earned the "A" rating from the health department, as I remember it always looking a bit unscrubbed, but they produced the freshest tasting burgers and fries.

Traditional American food that tastes good and is reasonably priced. It's probably the best burger, fries, and a Pepsi (I wish it were Coke) you'll find in Tehachapi.
