El Cajon, CA
Love it. For a chain they are setting a standard. The burgers are very well cooked, the fries and rings are close to perfect, and their salads are excellent. We take out of town visitors here on a regular basis because we enjoy it so much.
A baby burger each and a caesar salad to share is perfect for the two of us. Their use of fried taro instead of croutons on the salad is a nice change and quite tasty.
It is a little pricey but totally worth the money. Service is ok, and the one in Kensington is small so be prepared to wait for a table occasionally. The downtown one is bigger so it is not a problem there. -

My favorite burger of all time. The smart, authentic concept of 100% grass fed burgers is not lost on this happy guest. Everything about Burger Lounge is thoughtfully designed and executed. The menu is refreshingly simple, the space is modern and welcoming and the service is impeccable. In a world of "gimmick" burger places, it is comforting to know that someone has tapped into pure, delicious food with many organic and sustainable ingredients that is just pain perfect.
Thank you Burger Lounge for cutting through the nonsense and delivering on your promise of "pure, simple, delicious" food.
Recommendation: The Lounge Burger (100% grass fed for life), American cheese and 1/2 and 1/2 (fries and onion rings mixed). -

It's not often that I'm wrong...but when I am, I am big time. My first Burger Lounge review for the La Jolla location was abysmal. I just got done with a spamburger and still too full to really enjoy Burger Lounge. But I've recently found my new favorite meal while I'm in my "eat clean train dirty" phase. The half veggie salad with lemon-basil vinaigrette with a side veggie patty. This is a match made in Jillian Michaels heaven well except for the dressing but it's freaking good! The veggie patty is the best I've ever had and my go to "meat" puck from now on. My kids still love the real burgers and fries but with the summer coming up and more medals calling my name I'm going with the salad and veggie patty for a little while.

I seem to only give 5's but I have to! I get the Fresh Vegetable Salad with the Viniagrette and a Quinoa Patty in the salad. Wicked good. I have also had the Baby Burger with 1/2 and 1/2 Onion Rings and Fries w/ their Ranch. Also amazing.

Where do I begin? The decor? As you walk in your greeted by a friendly person. Wow this place is clean, very clean. Okay good, I am not overwhelmed by the menu, I can decide quick and I am hungry.
I got me the Baby Burger with white cheddar, lettuce and tomato and 1000 island dressing with an order of fries and a 14 oz of Orange Wit. (Yum burger and beer). My BF got the regular Lounger Burger, no cheese and tomato with a chocolate shake.
Everything is cooked to order and that seems to be the norm with all the burger places (and I am not talking fast food i.e. Burger King). Within 10 minutes our food arrived.
The first thing I grabbed was the fries.....whoa! This is one of the best fries I ever had. I love belgium style fries. The seasoning was just right and I love it crispy, oh yes I do. My burger was on the petite side and I thought oh no, should I have gotten the bigger burger. I took one bite and I was saying 'nom nom'. The burger was cooked just right, not dripping with oil and it was very lean. The bun was soft but firm to hold that burger in place.
My boyfriend liked everything....he said this is a place we will be making another visit to. -
Review from Joshua M.
So recently in my attempts to not be fat, I've cut fries out of my life. Suddenly the burger lounge has become one of my favorite places ever. The other new revelation is I've tried the turkey burger. I'm not really big on basil, and in the description it says lots of basil. Naturally I was hesitant, but it turns out it's the best turkey burger I think I've come across. I think I've tried all of the burger offerings now, and they are all good, but turkey may be my favorite.

San Diego, CA
I was actually not a fan of Burger Lounger during my first couple visits. And I still think the food is overpriced and the staff at the various locations can be a bit pretentious (come on, you are a burger joint not a Coach store).
But this place has grown on me a bit, especially as I try to eat healthier. It is really weird, but I think I started liking their burgers after I started getting fresh onions on the burgers rather than grilled onions. Well, the grass-fed burgers are tender and tasty. They also have a really good veggie quinoa burger - I had heard good things about it so I decided to sacrifice my love for meat and try it out and I was impressed. I've heard good things about their Turkey burger too but have not tried it yet. Next time I will.
The french fries are a bit dry but healthy than most other places. I do like their onion rings and they have a tasty ranch dressing. Oh, and they also serve beer! -

YUCK!!! Most unsatisfying food experience. While I like the idea of grass fed beef in the beef burgers, they unfortunately taste fishy. So do the french fries which I would categorize as pencil shaped potato chips. Maybe something about the oil used in the kitchen? Tastes like they recycle the oil from the salmon burgers in everything else they make, which may be why they like to cover up that flavor with the thousand island dressing they love to use. There is no variety of toppings that I was made aware of, the price is very high for what you receive. The order was not filled properly either. The buns are horrid! If you like mushrooms or avocados with you burger or anything else other then onion, lettuce, tomatoe, or cheese, pick another establishment!!!! We will not return to the burger lounge! AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great turkey patties--seriously. And the onion rings were yum too! Also, tasty bread.
Not the best setting--pretty crammed inside. Not crazy overpriced, but could be cheaper. -

I must be crazy. I came here for dinner last night and ordered a SALAD. What's even crazier is that I enjoyed it. Not only does Burger Lounge have delicious burgers, they have tasty salads as well! I love this place! The vegetable salad with lemon vinaigrette dressing is fresh, light and delicious. My boyfriend and I shared the full-size and added a salmon patty on the side. The salmon patties are really good here and it made the salad so much better. We also had the the onion rings and fries. The meal was just the right amount of food for two people and cost under $20.

I used to frequent the Burger Lounge in Little Italy but I found myself in Kensington the other day and decided to try the one there. And thankfully, I had another great experience with Burger Lounge. I got a Lounge Burger medium rare (came out perfectly cooked!) and the half fries, half onion rings. You can really tell the quality of the grass-fed beef they use, it makes a huge difference. Both the fries and onion rings tasted fresh and spot on, but if you are going to choose one or the other, the onion rings are probably the best I have ever had! Lots of places have great food, but the service is what really sets Burger Lounge apart. I ordered at the counter but then was pretty much served like I was at a full-service restaurant from there. Everybody seems so happy to work there! The place is spotless too. I will definitely be back next time I am in the Kensington area!

I am just going to come right out and say it:
Their turkey burger is like a bite full of basil, yuck,.
I mean, you really have to love love basil to eat this thing.
Service was excellent, the regular burger was good.
Feels super over priced for a burger but they pride themselves
by grass fed and organic...I still know i can get a better tasting burger
at in n out so that is why I cannot rate more than three stars. -
Review from Cory S.
San Diego, CA
Burger Lounge has great food. I certainly reinforce all the comments about the quality of their burgers. If it's really the slow-cookery of grass-fed cows, then by all means BL, keep doing it! Both the beef and the turkey burgers are outstanding (their thousand-island special sauce is legit), and their onion rings could be some of the best in San Diego.
I don't agree with all the comments about their prices, though. I feel it's a bit overpriced. BL is a small step up from a fast-food joint, and when you get your 2 burgers, onion rings, and drinks, you're at about $26 bucks. I'd give it 4 stars if they included an order of onion rings or fries with the burger, but until then, they get 3 stars.
Still, definitely worth stopping by if you don't mind shelling out the dough for some burgers...nom nom, kids! -

I've had a much better burger. It is over rated. I could not taste the aged white cheddar cheese. The fries were greasy.

Even if you like meat, you need to try the quinoa burger! It is so full of flavor, and had us in awe of its amazing taste for hours. Such a refreshing take on a burger!
The burger was awesome, as many have reviewed. The chicken, on a stick, is quite great as well. I'd love it as a sandwhich...I'm guessing they would do that for you if you asked.
But seriously...try the quinoa burger...you'll be happy and shocked and happy for quite awhile after consuming this wonderfully tasty vegetarian burger that most people don't know how to pronounce. :) -
Review from Sean B.
It seems that, for whatever reason, the '10s have started off as the decade of the utterly forgettable boutique hamburger shops. Specializing in simple menus of beef hamburgers, turkeyburgers, veggieburgers, fries and onion rings... it seems that these upscale In-N-Outs are cropping up on every street corner like Starbucks in the '90s.
Most are adequate. Few are great. Only one in a hundred are outstanding. This is one of them.
Modern decor, attentive servers, standard prices, excellent flavors.
They almost lost a star for having the 50/50 be more like a 75/25. Extra onion rings won't blow the budget, fellas. You're doing everything else so well, don't blow it on something so minor.
My favorite boutiquey burger joint in SoCal. Bar none. -
Review from John M.
Seattle, WA
Short version: one of many Burger Lounges, serving tasty, fresh burgers, fries, shakes, and salads. I'd go a little out of my way to go here.
I've been to many burger joints, and this is one of the best. The restaurant prides itself on its grass-fed beef. I don't really care if the beef were fed on drywall shavings. It is tender and tasty. The shakes are flavorful and made from scratch. The salads are wonderful. The service is quick.
So why not five stars?
The main reason is that I've had better burgers. Not by a lot, and not in San Diego, but I'm reserving my 5-star burger and fries for Red Mill Burgers in Seattle, and my 5-star over-the-top burger for Seattle's Joule Restaurant and its Short Rib Burger. Of course, those are 1,000 miles away from San Diego, so get your San Diego burger at Burger Lounge. -
Review from Babak L.

Burger Lounge has the freshest burgers in town. This location does not disappoint and stacks up favorably with the other ones I've visisted- La Jolla and Coronado. I alternate between the Turkey Burger and the Lounge Burger. The chicken tenders and their salad options aren't bad either.

Review from Tyson G.
Pros:
- Ethically-raised grass-fed organic beef
- Some of the best onion rings ever
- Note, I am an onion ring expert
- Tasty vegan and vegetarian options
- Tried the quinoa burger -- tasty!
- Cheap! Excellent burgers for $8!
- Beer & Wine!
- We tried a half bottle of merlot, and it was some quality stuff!
- Knowledgeable staff:
The manager, Craig, immediately recognized that I was trying to avoid dairy specifically by asking for no cheese - and that I wasn't a vegetarian or vegan - and therefore asked if I wanted to avoid the thousand island dressing, too. Sharper than your average bear, this one.
The burgers are awesome. Real melt in your mouth stuff. And, as mentioned elsewhere, crisp lettuce and tomato are included in the stack. The onion rings include a mix of spices and a light batter that brings out a well-balanced flavor.
Cons:
My only advice would be decor and/or layout... The place feels a little sterile and anti-social. Too much polished metal and glass. Something to warm it up a bit might be nice. It was interesting going to Hamilton's afterward how much more relaxing the place felt. I guess the idea behind a small burger joint, though, is to get people in and out. No sense in coddling the loiterers. Not willing to dock it a star for that, though. After all, they also have outdoor seating for the warmer months, which makes up for it.
This is about the best place I've found in San Diego for burgers.Listed in: Dog-Friendly and/or Outdoor…

Review from Andrew T.
They totally swagger-jacked In-N-Out with the red seat idea (Burger Lounge is orange-themed instead). Monotone decor aside, that's where the comparisons with In-N-Out end. This place is on another level...
The burgers here are really unique. Now, I'm not a beat-your-chest grassfed, slow-food-movement loudmouth... but whatever they are doing to make the beef taste this good is working. I actually am a bigger fan of the turkey and salmon burgers myself, but everything is good here (fries and shakes too). If you wanna argue about the best burger in town (Hodad's Rocky's whatever) I feel like this isn't really comparable, it's got it's own little niche.
My only semi-gripe is that Burger Lounge isn't really that loungey. Okay yes, they tried to have these comfy couch-chairs, but the reality is that you aren't going to stay past your meal to hang out because it's just not that hip of a area. Props to the hiring manger that hired all 20-25 year old college chicks though (hey buddy, at least I KNOW you're trying). They do have a couple beers on tap and a sports-dedicated TV which is always nice.
All-in-all I have had some pretty good experiences here and would recommend it to anyone in the area looking to "try something different". -

Top-notch turkey burgers - great flavor and HUGE portion. Probably the best I've ever had. Lots of basil and garlic added, so it doesn't have that weird "turkey-ness" to it. We like their fries and onion rings too. The service is fast - and it's nice to be able to sit outside.
What I like about the place is this: I tend to get random turkey burger cravings, and I am never disappointed when I get one, although some are jucier than others. Better yet, I don't really eat fast food - in fact, it usually makes me feel crappy. Not so much with Burger Lounge - I feel like their food just isn't as greasy, but packs the same comfort food punch.
One star off because really, it's bit pricey for what it is - fancy fast food - but at least it's more sustainable, good quality meat, etc. Haven't tried their veggie burger but a lot of my friends rave about it. -

Burger Lounge has some of the best burgers in San Diego, for sure. I'd go out of my way to eat here, for sure. The beef is grass-fed and tastes like heaven. They also have amazing fries, onion rings, shakes and salads. Their garden salad is wonderful - it's huge and delicious! I certainly can never finish it.
I haven't tried their veggie burger, but I've heard only good things about it.
The shakes are pretty good, only a few flavors though.
I'm giving 4 stars because nearly every time I've gone I've had to fight for a table. The restaurant is way to small to feel loungy. I'd feel guilty staying here for much longer than simply eating. -
Review from Randy C.
Loved this place. The burger rocked. Simple grass fed beef cooked medium in peanut oil, served with fresh and tasty lettuce, tomato, grilled onions and a small bit of thousand island dressing. Simple and good. Fries were ok. Onion rings were quite good. I liked the drink selection, they have a good root beer.
FYI... it is an order and pay at the counter, then take a number to a table where they bring out your food. The service was excellent, making sure iced tea was filled, asking if I wanted another root beer.
Next time I am going to try the veggie burger and their salad. -

I don't think a burger joing can get any better! The service is super friendly and helpful, the prices are fair, and the food is great!
I always have the turkey burger, which is the most flavorful one I've ever had. The onion rings are delicious. And my new love is the fresh vegetable salad with lemon-basil dressing....soooo fresh and delicious!
Yep, I'm a fan. -

The purpose of participating in an event like Taste of Adams is to show off your food to people who will, if they like it, become customers.
The purpose of participating in an event like Taste of Adams and running out of samples a little more than halfway through, however, escapes me. Especially if the samples are, as they appeared to be, burgers. What kind of message am I to receive? That a place called Burger Lounge can't handle the supply of ground beef necessary to meet a finite and known number of participants (remember, we have tickets, and there was a maximum number of tickets that could be sold)? This does not inspire a return trip.
Neither does being kicked out of line without ever hearing the word "sorry," come to think of it.
If you can't handle it, don't get involved. -

You know what I love about having Burger Lounge in my neighborhood? Consistency ... the quinoa burgers are always tasty, the staff members are always friendly, and Zasha, the manager, is always focused on customer happiness. One of my favorite things is that their closing time is somewhat flexible ... they're not jerks about "rolling up the sidewalks" early like you see so much of the time around here. Zasha's attitude is like "Come on in, it's no problem!".
Now that my friends is true customer service.

San Diego, CA
As far as burgers in San Diego go, Burger Lounge has some of the best. I like the fact that they have a variety of options- beef, turkey, veggie. They also offer a small size, so you aren't stuck feeling like you are wasting food by throwing half away. I am a bit on the cheap side, and tend to try to get my money's worth by eating most of my burger, so now I just order the small and eat the whole thing. The burgers are definitely more upscale than fast food, including In-N-Out.
Their fry and onion combo is our favorite way to order the sides, and it is large enough for 2 of us to share. The shakes are quite good, and I like the fact that they give you the whole container, which ends up being 1 1/2 shakes in quantity- great to share.
I only wish that this place was a bit more "upscale" in atmosphere. It really is (as others have mentioned) a little nicer environment than In-N-Out, and there really are not enough tables available from 6:30 to 8:00 at night.
Street parking only, which is difficult on Adams, but not as bad on the side streets. -

BEWARE THEIR VEGGIE BURGER IS NOT VEGAN! It has cheese mixed right in it, for god knows what reason. I really don't get it - why bother to make a burger with no meat and then add unnecessary animal products? At least the cashier told me it was not vegan rather than let me order anyway.
Really too bad! I wanted this to be my fast-food place that is closer than Evolution. It's not to be. -

Amazing burgers, and an even more amazing veggie salad! Patio seating allows us to bring our dog who loves cleaning up food spills from that patio! Good beers on tap, though I'm holding back the last star because I think they are a bit over priced.

Working near here I go for lunch quite often. Some of the juiciest burgers anywhere, especially with grilled onions and always cooked medium, which i love. Onion rings are dynamite. Not heavily breaded like most others and a full order is huge. Fries are not impressive next these rings. You actually get green lettuce on the burger and ripe tomatoes! Turkey burgers are good as well if you choose.
Was not impressed with the salmon burger. Only 4 stars because it is pricey...especially when you go two or three times a week.
Oh. Did I mention they do doubles!!!!! I'm sold. -

dear burger lounge, you serve burgers, self-serve. IF you had servers, and if you had the citys best burgers I wouldnt feel robbed paying $33 for two burgers one order of frings a coke and a beer. and Id want to tip. I get it, you serve grass fed, and use the best.....but its just an effing burger.
from now on Ill go to rockies.
also, If you have surveillance in your establishment you're required to post such at the door. ITS A LAW. -

Went for dinner on Friday evening.
+ great burger and fries.
+ good prices
+ simple and to the point menu - doing simple things well
- cramped little space
- needs to turn the air on because it was so hot inside.
A couple of other locations are popping up here and there. A lot of other boutique burger places to compete with. -

I can't speak for the burgers as I didn't try one, but I can say that this place has the best chicken tenders I've ever had the pleasure of sticking in my face. They come on a stick, which is weird at first and then sort of fun. I enjoyed taking one bite from the stick, then pulling them off and using my fingers. But hey! You do it however you want. They are your chicken strips and you can eat them on the stick through your nose if that's the sort of chicken eating you're into. I won't judge you.
Maybe a little. I mean, that's gross, man. Through your NOSE?! Weiiiiird.
