I feel like a complete moron giving BK a 5-star rating, especially given that I don't eat their food. But, they get top spot in my book because I always come here after a long run (10 or more miles) while in marathon training mode to pick up 40 lbs of ice for my ice bath. *Side note: for all you runners out there who are training with pretty hefty mileage, believe me, ice baths help more than any massage/pill/anything, Go to BK, by ice, put it in your bathttub, sit in it for 12 minutes, and enjoy the lack of any joint pain the next day. Have fuzzy socks ready for when you climb out though*
I love this place because 40lbs of ice is RIDICULOUSLY cheap--less than 5 bucks. In addition, they wheel it right out to my car by their backdoor, which makes my life a lot easier given the state i typically find myself in aka not in the mood to lift 40 lbs of anything. -

It was slow, and they guy behind counter (possibly manager) was not delightful. Barely said two words.
No drive thru -- really?
My meal was fine for the most part, but the sandwich bread was squashed and the burger slid out because too much sauce.

Why come here?
It's open 24 hours and is located en route from downtown Evanston to my apartment. Sometimes I just want an Icee at 1am when everything else is closed.
Besides that, avoid BK. There are plenty of better cheapo restaurants nearby. -

It's 3 AM. You're in Evanston. And you're hungry.
Assuming you're tired of cooking plastic-wrapped packages of ramen and you really don't want to make another "dinner" out of salty snacks from 7 Eleven, your choices pretty much are limited to Steak 'n Shake waaaay over on the west side of town or....this Burger King.
Pluses: it's walking distance from campus or downtown ETown, there's free wifi, you're surrounded by students with their faces pressed into their laptops, there's ALWAYS a security guard ready to settle things down with rambunctious fratters or outside invaders thirsting for your iBook. All the usual yummy unhealthy menu items like burgers of all types, onion rings, fries and soda await your slightest whim.
Minuses: It's Burger King in the middle of the night, people! -

Two stars purely for the fact that they're open 24 hours and have free wi-fi, flat-screen TVs playing CNN, and a Chase ATM.
But the food? I'm not a picky person when it comes to food at ALL, and even I think Burger King is disgusting. And ever since a girl got maced by a homeless woman (yes, you read that correctly) in the ladies' room, I've been afraid to pee here.Listed in: A Wildkitten's Evanston List

Dear Burger King,
For the SECOND time in a month, you have failed to feed me. It takes a lot for me to wander over here. Last time it was jetlag and wanting breakfast at 4am, tonight it was an intense post 5 hour nap hunger. I had planned to order so many things! The orange ICEE float looked so incredibly sugary, and the mushroom swiss burger has A1 on it?!
Now, it isn't the crowds of drunk college kids that bothers me. In fact, they are quite amusing to watch. What I don't understand is how you manage to have flat screen TVs and free WiFi, yet no working credit card machine. Cash only? Are we being serious? You want me to go to your ATM and get charged $3 by Chase and another $2 by my bank so I can get a baby whopper? If tonight had been the only time this happened, then it would have been forgivable. Fix it! Get a back up machine! Get a manual imprint thing! It is beyond silly to be turning away business (that is already in the store!) that only has plastic.

It's a fast food chain nonetheless, but it is in my neighborhood and it is the quickest 24 hour place around Evanston, and they have a Chase ATM inside, as well.
When fast food places started taking credit card, it just became dangerous. I haven't eaten fast food in so long that I can't remember but when I am craving their onion rings, I might be hitting up this Burger King...Listed in: Evanston Cheap Lunch

Pros: open 24 hours, spacious, cheap, free wi-fi (uhh...if you're willing to hang out here...I'm not)

My few experiences here sober have led me to the following conclusion: I would never come here sober. Even for Burger King standards (if you can call them standards), the food here is pitiful. Undercooked, underpackaged, and cold even before it's in your hand. I think the only things you can really enjoy here (and not worry too much about food poisoning) are the pre-packaged pies.
This is one of the most cruel Northwestern partying traditions there is, and I swear if a 24 hour Wendys opened up next door, this would be bankrupt in a month. Oh, and the dining room is always a mess, especially on a party night like Friday or Saturday. Stay farrrrr away from those bathrooms!
PS What kind of BK needs BOUNCERS? Says a lot about the clientele if you ask me. -

Being from Loyola, I hate everything Northwestern. Now that I've given full disclosure, I can tell you how jealous I am that they have a decent 24/7 Fast Food place near campus that isn't full of crackheads or sketchy people.
First of all, this place has freaking flat screen TVs! What kind of burger king is this? There is a ton of seating and there is also free wifi! Granted it IS Burger King so you're not getting quality food, but still! I haven't been here when the bars let out, but if it's anything like the Taco Bell down at Clark and Addison it's a mixed bag. Fun when you're drunk, abysmal when you're not. Then again why would you be at Burger King when the bars let out if you aren't drunk... -

Whoa, my first two star rating. It's definitely well-deserved for this poor culinary establishment. I love BK, I really do. Their flame-broiled goodness whoop Mickey D's any day.
Unfortunately, this place seems to produce extra greasy burgers and flavors are weird here. I recommend the BK a few minutes out on Dempster.
As the only late, late-night option for the many drunk (or high) NU college students, word on the street is that this BK is one of the highest grossing in the nation. Maybe it's the high volume that leads to a decline in the quality of the food... -

An NU student staple. I remember being a prospie (Northwestern jargon, prospie = prospective student), and my friend from the school pointed out the BK as she informally took me on a tour around campus. She explained the excitement surrounding the BK renovation a few years back. Supposedly, the Daily newspaper featured it on the front page. It brought the community together, or at least, but perhaps beyond, the drunk students together at 2am.
The reasons why this place remains popular are the obvious, already stated conveniences: 24 hours, free wi-fi, proximity to campus. Not quite obvious, and possibly arguable: the cleanliness, relatively quick service, decent, cheap fast food.
I pass by this place a few times a day, and it has two rush-times: lunch and late night. At lunch, people, who work in the Evanston area stop by to grab lunch. I've seen students sit in the Orrington facing section working on laptops. During the latter rush time, security guards stand in the place, but I appreciate that because typically mostly drunk students populate the place at that time. It's likely helpful for the staff and keeps the line moving.
As advertised, the food is freshly made to order. One friend always orders extra lettuce on his Whopper and he most times gets it. He also enjoys the fish sandwich. The char-broiled burgers tempt me from time to time, and they live up to expectations. I think this place is fine, and, besides 7-11 on Church or Emerson, I don't think I know of other 3am options in E-town. -

I walked into Burger King recently. No one was willing to seat us! We had to find our own table! I finally strolled to the counter and got an Angry Whopper. The crunch of the onions, coupled with the spicy aioli and beef patties on a toasted bun! Culinary heaven! But there were no white tablecloths, and their wine selection was just horrid, two factors that offended me and caused me to drop my monocle in horror.
Kidding. BK is the staple of NU students who venture here at 4am because they can, and because they like reallywantfriesssomgimsodrunk. This place is open 24 hours, and all of the sketchiness that you can think of is attached as a result. The people who work the counters have my undying respect, given their efficiency. But the security guards who literally yell at you when you don't move up a few centimeters in line instantly? Not so much. And despite the fact that there are kids meals, I'm not rating this place as "Good for Kids" because most children, no matter what time of day or night, would be scarred/frightened by what transpires here.
Oh, and I saw Estelle walk in for about thirty seconds during Dillo Day. She then turned around and left. This is as close as we NU kids get to celebrities, famous alumni not withstanding, so...great success. -

Keep in mind 5 stars is relative to the fast food category. But among fast food joints, this is probably the best BK I've ever eaten at. It's right off of the Northwestern campus, and freshman year I probably ate here 3-4 nights a week. It's open 24 hours, so it's one of the only places to get food late at night. The dollar menu is great. Love the chicken sandwiches.

I've been to this Burger King probably 50 times, and not once before 12am. Burger King is my least-favorite fast food establishment. Their fries are gross and the burgers simply aren't on par with McDonald's or Wendy's.
That said, this is one of the better BKs in the chain. It's clean, service is quick, and hey -- where else are you going to go in Evanston at 4am on a Saturday night? -

I can't remember much of the interior. I can't remember much of the exterior. Every time I visited this Burger King was in my early twenties and while I was under the influence of something. From the bits I do remember, it was good and warm and satisfying and (probably) relatively clean or else I would have never gone back. A lot of my fuzzy memories involve happily stuffing my face with a good ole Whopper with extra pickles and crispy french fries. The people that work here are good tolerant folk to put up with all the drunken kids that seem to congregate for late night snacks. Bless those souls for all that they have to put up with.

My friend was Assaulted and Battered by the security guard at night when he tried to tip him (punched in the face, dislocated tooth) - then when we filed a police report, they proceeded to BAN from burger king my friend and all the eye witnesses! The case will be tried in civil court - DO NOT EAT HERE - it is disgusting, the service is terrible and it is DANGEROUS. BOYCOTT THIS BURGER KING UNTIL THE OWNER'S GET NEW SECURITY
