Review from Liz D.
San Angelo, TX
If my boss knew I had enough time to review a Burger King, they'd probably be giving me a less than 3-star review of my own right now...
I probably wouldn't bother with this (as there are plenty of things I could be Google-ing right now) except that if you're driving from Phoenix to Tucson (or vice versa) there's usually nothing in between and this hits exactly at the half way mark. Which, if you're traveling with my sister, or anyone else who likes to wait until you're on the road to say their hungry, have to use the bathroom, etc.. this may come in handy.
It wasn't spectacular, but it was open (it was around 10:30pm) when we visited. There was a man and two kids ordering ahead of us who were taking forever, but my sister (see "annoying passenger") is one who likes to read the entire menu before deciding.. as if ordering the "wrong thing" could mean offending the chef or something. Whatever.
She got a burger and iced coffee drink (are you noticing a trend with my fellow gene pool swimmer?). I got a veggie burger (plus one star for Burger Kings in general since they've added this to some places) and cheese filled tator tots (to balance out the semi-healthyness of a veggie burger) and small chocolate milkshake. The irony here is that I wasn't even hungry, but it all sounded good and was all under $5.
The manager was the one helping us and it seemed that he only had one other employee in the back to help him. He was friendly and made sure we got everything quickly even though the people ahead of us were clearing them out of fries and $1 Whopper Jr.'s.. There were two guys about 12 or 13 who were stranded there (according to their phone conversation when they asked to use my phone and then called long distance to God knows where).
Other than smelling like a dairy farm (as I'm told the area often does by my mom who works as a nurse there), it was cheap, fast, and made my sister shut up. Ordinarily, I'd probably give them 2 stars because who hasn't been to a Burger King that's slightly more awful than the last? But, they had veggie burgers and maybe I'm not frequent enough in the fast food world, but that's pretty freakin' awesome. : )
