Review from Amanda C.
4 stars for the food, 2-3 stars for the atmosphere.
I had the Hawaiian burger to-go and it was pretty darn good. Even though the bun wasn't my favorite (it started tearing apart after the first bite), the rest of the flavors worked really well together. I wasn't as impressed with the Superhero theme like the other reviewers were, since it's just a bunch of dusty plastic boxes encasing random action figures, which are placed all around the cramped interior. The restaurant is more of a local 'hole in the wall' and appeared to be a little messy, but not enough to gross me out or anything.
I was impressed with the burger and definitely plan on going back if I'm in the area.Listed in: Hamburger Love

I just had lunch here with a friend and my two year old son. The Superhero motif on the inside is awesome and I wish they would bring it to the outdoor sign too, because I had no idea it was Superhero themed.
I loved that the staff was super friendly and nice. They encouraged my son to play with the superheros that decorated the window sills and even got out some Toy Story action figures to play with. The music was alright with me, but I don't mind the emo genre. If you do then the music would be a bother.
The food was really tasty. I had the blue burger, with bacon and it was really good. The fries were excellent, crunchy but soft inside. It is pretty tiny inside, but they have ample outdoor seating for when it's not raining out.
Overall I liked this place a lot. We paid less than we do when we go to Red Mill and there was lots of stuff to keep the kiddo occupied while we waited for our food. One of the best experiences dining out with my kiddo. -

So, I'm going to start by saying that I'm a little biased, living next-door and all, but I love the shit out of this place.
The burgers are giganto and deliciously sloppy with the right balance of toppings. The fries are my favorite balance of squishy and crunchy. Also they have peanut butter milk shakes, nom.
Plus the dude that runs the place is super nice and you can mooch off his comix while you're there. -

Normally I'll set up the main point I'm trying to make about a place when I review it, but I have to get this off my chest right now:
Burger Hero just served me the most satisfying hamburger I can remember eating in recent memory.
Okay, phew! Now I can get on with the story.
Even though I only live about four blocks away from Burger Hero, I hadn't been in since it was Ballard Brothers. Yes, that means I missed the entire Lunchbox Laboratory era (but not for lack of trying).
But I'm not here to talk about the last few occupants. I'm here to talk about the burger that nearly left me speechless last night.
We took a family stroll down to Burger Hero last night, and it really hadn't changed significantly from the previous incarnations. Pretty tight space, with a few tables and counter separating the dining area from the kitchen, everything permeated with with those divine burger joint aromas of bacon, grilling meat and melting cheese.
A super hero motif is created by way of action figures in the windows and comic books on the walls, plus a box of comics on the floor that maybe you're allowed to read? Either way, our 2 year old was encouraged to play with the action figures, so I doubt anyone would care if you browsed them.
Okay, the moment you've been reading this far for: The food. After debating a couple of burgers, I settled on the Spidey's Web (Mushroom and Swiss) and an order of onion rings. And it was, as I said, the most satisfying burger I can remember having in a long time. Not necessarily the best, but in terms of bite-for-bite enjoyment, I can't recall a better burger in the last few years. The mushrooms were grilled perfectly: just enough to unlock the magical mushroom flavor with getting all soft and slimy. The swiss was melted sufficiently to permeate both burger and bun, but without making the bread all greasy and soft. The burger itself was cooked through with but the faintest hint of pink - a little overdone for my taste, but I honestly didn't notice or care.
The rings were thick and flavorful, with a breading that didn't crumble and fall off the onion as soon as I bit into it. They weren't quite on the same plane as the burger, but they certainly didn't drag it down. I'd have to say they were merely excellent rings.
"So where's that fifth star?" you must be asking, perhaps even expecting an answer. Well, I'll tell you. My wife's Man of Iron (classic cheeseburger) didn't make quite the impression, and her sweet potato fries fell a little short of expectations as well. I was raving about my food while she was kind of shrugging and saying "Yeah, it's okay." I think her biggest disappointment was that the Man of Iron came with American cheese and she was expecting cheddar, or at least something less processed. As for the sweet potato fries, I dunno. They tasted pretty good to me.
At any rate, we'll definitely be back to see if Burger Hero can maintain the solid four stars or even make the jump to that coveted fifth star. The Blue Superman (bacon, grilled onions and bleu cheese) is next on my list.Listed in: Ballard Food and Drink

Amazing. Burger was dripping with cheese. The burger was gooey and horrible for ones health and just all around amazing. It satisfied the junk-food-junky part of me that wants a burger. And then there's the fries.
I went with the sweet potato fries, and they were crispy and sweet and perfect. I demand perfection when it comes to fries,...and these were the best I've had anywhere.
Great service, great food, good prices!!
Love it love it love it. -

This place has some of the most amazing burgers. Went here with my lady and split a burger and fry. Had a wonderful little date. She's a cutie. Then she gave me some quarters to play Donkey Kong on their arcade table. A cute little spot and it hasn't been too busy when I come by.

3 star taste but 1 extra star because they deliver.
We were craving burgers and I found Burger Hero on yelp. After reading the reviews I found out they delivered to my area so I ordered 2 bacon cheeseburgers and an order of onion rings.
The delivery guy had trouble finding my place...I actually had to stay on the phone with him and guide him to my house. Technically I didn't mind because I really wanted the burger and when it arrived it was still hot. Had the burger been cold and sodden this review would have been drastically different.
Yes the prices are a little high but these days any place that serves only burgers that isn't a McDonald charges more than most people want to pay for a meat in a bun. All in all I am going to order from here again. The burgers were tasty and now that they know where I live delivery shouldn't be a problem anymore. =) -

I am a bit of a burger snob, so my review might be a bit critical. Overall, it was a good experience. Friendly owners, good theme, and decent food. The problem is that I can't settle for decent food when I am looking for a juicy burger. I know my burgers, and I know good quality meat once it hits my lips. If you don't believe me, I only have 2 more burger joints to try in the entire core of Seattle.
I would rate the quality of the meat in these burgers at a 1 out of 5. It's the next best thing from rubber on a bun. That's actually not a problem if I am getting a burger for $2 or $3 (i.e. Dicks), but if I am paying $7 and up, then I want it to be good quality. This was a large dressed up burger with everything needed to make it awesome, except good quality meat. Put a nice slab of beef on a homemade toasted bun and you have an awesome burger joint that would deserve 5 stars!
The delivery aspect of the business makes no difference to me, but I understand that appeal for the neighborhood. Unfortunately I won't be coming back, because I just want a quality burger, and a quality burger relies 100% on the meat. If they change the meat to high quality usda organic beef or at least something that tastes like quality meat, this joint could be named Burger "SUPER" Hero, but for now it's just your average every day hero. Unfortunately, since I didn't get that key quality beef component by eating here, I ended up walking out the door looking like Clark Kent without the ability to be Superman! :) -

Yep, five may be inflated, but this is the only burger place that my husband and I can agree on. I really want them to stick around. Did I mention they deliver?! This is a rare thing here in Seattle and amazing for me as a working mom with two young kidets.
The burgers are tasty, juicy, cooked well, made of real meat (although not grass fed or local, I'm pretty sure). The fries AND the onion rings are great. Way better than Red Mill. They also don't require cash.
Did I mention that they deliver!? -

Super yummy cheap burgers that are delivered to your home! What more can I say? I've had their bleu cheese burger, mushroom burger, and crunch burger and they are all really tasty. Also have had their onion rings which are thick and really good. They deliver quickly (usually within 20 min or so).

I admit a five-star rating is a bit of an inflation on my part - I usually expect a five-star rating to mean "this was the best experience of my life and I could die happy right now." This is really a four-star rating boosted up by my wholehearted desire to see this place succeed. Seriously, they're doing everything right, and it would be really wonderful to see the crowds that used to flock to Lunchbox here give the new place the same support.
I had a chocolate shake which was perfectly thick and delicious. My husband got a Cajun (sorry, can't recall which superhero-name it was on the menu) and loved it. He said it was better than Red Mill, which is saying something. His sweet potato fries were pretty much perfect, my onion rings were crisp and sweet, and the dipping sauces were very nice.
The menu is extensive and the superhero theme is a lot of fun. I'm a huge fan of the non-beef options they offer, which are plentiful. Next time we go I'm going to find out if they'll do the vegetarian burger on any of their burger options, which I'm betting they might. Definitely give this place a shot!
PS Regarding the other Yelper's commentary on the music: when I was in there ordering to-go, they were playing Numa Numa, which is awesome as far as I'm concerned.
PPS I almost forgot to mention: Free delivery on orders over $15. WOW. What high-quality burger joint will deliver to your door? -

Cant believe Im giving a 5, but nostalgia is worth it, and there's a caveat.
In Milwaukee there exists a place called Kopps. Wonderfully delicious frozen custard (Seattle stands have yet to figure this recipe out) and fabulously gooey cheeseburgers. Burger Hero is the closest thing I have to a Kopps burger. I had the blleu cheese burger. The bleu was mild and melty with a healthy amount of grilled onions, a base of garlic mayo, and it was sooooo juicy (much of which was grease for the health conscious).
The waffle fries were also great. The one that that risked Burger Hero's 5 star rating was the music. As a waited for my burger and fries to be made, the WORST emo music I can imagine was playing overhead. From acoustic covers of emo songs to hardcore emo, ugh, this was worthy of a 1/2 star deduction. Burger Hero regained the 1/2 star when I heard the man behind the counter say they offered free delivery for orders over $15.
Overall, great, melty, greasy, Wisconsin style, burger. -

So this place is pretty damn good, I almost never write reviews but I had to for Burger Hero. The deep fried mushrooms were the best I have ever had. I thought about taking a picture but I didn't want to stop eating. They were real mushrooms. Big juicy ones. The Burger was pretty good and I am excited to try more burgers. Best thing besides the mushrooms was that they deliver!

I would say 4 1/2 stars, but am ranking a 5/5 to offset the silly 1 star reviews.
We stopped by here on a whim and were very pleased. The owner was incredibly nice to us and our 4 year old child.. chatting with him while we looked over burger options, giving him toys to play with, and ending our stay with a lollipop. It definitely helps the entire experience. Tons of superhero items and comics around help make our son love the place too.
Burgers were great. Juicy and somewhat sloppy, but that just means more taste! Fries were crunchy with good breading & came with yummy dipping sauce. Having waffle and sweet potato fry options are a great plus. Prices very reasonable.
Not perfect, but solid food, great service, great price, lots of options.
Welcome to the neighborhood. -

A very good burger. Obviously these folks are working hard, and want to do a good business, and it shows. I'd suggest they upgrade the bun to a little larger bun that is fitting of the quality they are going for. Outstanding onion rings! Best of all, they DELIVER!! Not a whole lot except pizza if you're looking for delivery in the ballard area.

This place was just ok... I liked all of the burger combinations and options as well as having different options for fries (sweet potato, regular, garlic)... However the food did not deliver. The sweet potato fries weren't cooked all the way through and my burger was completely soaked in grease... The bun was so saturated that I couldn't even eat it... I think with a little bit of work, this place could step up their game.

This is where the old Lunchbox Laboratory used to be. I was headed there today, to have lunch at LL, and when I arrived, realized it had changed owners and businesses. I decided to try it, anyway, since a burger sounded great to me!
The owner was super friendly, and helpful. Really enjoyed talking with him.
The burgers are named after Superheros (with the names changed a bit to avoid a lawsuit, lol). I had the Captain USA, which looked like the standard burger, with Onion Rings.
The burger was large, and it was good. They toasted the bun, and had special toppings that I believe are created in-house (sauteed onions, a special sauce). The onion rings were good, also. Fried to order.
I *would* like to know where they get their beef, since I prefer to eat at local, grass fed places. If it's not specified where or what the beef is, I assume it's not grass fed, or local.
All in all, a decent burger! Friendly owners and staff, and an okay location. I could see going back if in the area! -

This place took over the lunchbox laboratory spot. they have a super hero theme and serve burgers, chicken and seafood.
i had the basic burger which was decent sized and tasted good. the bun and toppings were great. the burger was a frozen patty, still ok, but could be better if they used fresh meat. i think they did all their shopping at a warehouse store.
as for seating, they had two tables inside and a few more outside, so not a lot of room, but since they were not crowded it doesn't matter.
over all, give it a shot and welcome them to Ballard then make up your own mind. i see them doing well as they decorate more. -

Good super hero theme, friendly staff, generous portions. Stopped here only once, so basing this review on a single visit may be unfair, but here's the thing...I got a burger and fries to go, or would have talked to the staff after a couple bites. The "burger" part was just weird. Not animal, vegetable or mineral....just weird. Took the burger out of the bun to taste it, it was too soft, didn't look like meat, and tasted awful. Not edible. A shame, the place really tries to be friendly and do a good job. I would try it again to be fair, but don't want to go hungry again... Sorry fellas, but turn that "burger" part around and you'll be "heroes".

I want to give this place 4 stars, because the service was great. However, the burgers were just fine. I'd give them another try. They have a great selection. I tried the blackened salmon (spicy!), Hawaiian chicken sandwich (very good), blue burger (ok), and mushroom burger (good but soggy).

Unique specialty burgers with a comic superhero theme.. Although you can get a basic burger, there are burgers you will not find elsewhere. It would've gotten 5 stars, but I had to listen to 80's light rock while there... Air Supply, Phil Collins.... You get the idea. But I will be going back again soon. Highly recommended.

The toppings were the only redeeming quality here. The juices, and flavor, ran out of the burger and onto the plate the minute I picked up my burger and the bun fell apart around the third bite. The fries, while crispy, were under cooked and flavorless except for the occasional patch of garlic salt. :(

I had eyeballed this place since it opened. It took over after Lunchbox Laboratory moved to a new location. I finally made my way there for lunch while working from home.
They've got mid-range prices - not dirt cheap like Dick's or any other fast food place, but not the high prices that you paid for the Lunchbox Laboratory meals.
They dress up and prepare a basic burger patty very well. I had one of their specialty burgers that included bacon, pepper jack, jalapenos, and a special spicy sauce. I'd get it again. The only thing that I'd like to see is a bit more flavor in the patty itself and maybe the ability to order it with a bit of pink in the center - it was pretty basic and I wasn't asked how I'd like it cooked. The waffle fries were great, as was the sauce they served with them. I was hoping to be able to critique a shake too, but I was too full from lunch to get one. So, their portion sizes are good.
I'd call this a pretty good neighborhood burger joint. I'd really like to see them offer some smaller burgers for kids - I only saw full size burgers on the menu. -

We applaud the effort and the idea, and the staff was very nice, but unfortunately the burgers were awful, the fries mediocre, and the shake below average. Hope they improve their food.

Went here today for a quick bite. The place is small and cute. Only a couple tables inside, but outdoor seating as well, which was amazing for a day like today. The menu has quite a few options. It took a minute to look it all over, but my friend and I decided on the Lil Daredevil burger with a side of garlic fries. The food came out amazingly quick and looked as amazing as it taste. Stacked High with bacon, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, jalapenos, nice and melted pepperjack cheese and a deliciously messy amount of the house special fire sauce. The fries were thick and crispy and seasoned perfectly with a garlic salt. Not burnt. Not too greasy and served with a tasty side of ranch sauce on side. OMG! It was AMAZING! Best Burger I have had in a while. WAY better than Five Guys. Even better than Red Mill. This place just opened recently and I really want it to do well because I plan on going often. I strongly recommend checking it out and spreading the word. A good Burger is hard to come by.
