Perfect little burger stop. Its a dive, the food is good, the staff is friendly. I had a burger with American cheese and mushrooms. It was wonderful. Everyone else got their burgers on jalapeño bread, I tried it.... I HATE jalapeños, but this was amazing! And to top the meal off, corn nuggets. Pretty much if you offer corn nuggets, you are my favorite restaurant. Mmmm......
I recommend this place after spending the day on the lake. -

Showed up, save for a couple of women having a conversation, the place was empty. Ordered my chow and didn't even wait 5 minutes.
Patty was HUGE, fries were nice and crispy.
This place is good, feeling brave? Try the gator ;)Listed in: Memorable Chow in Texas

Burger lover here and the burgers are good. Especially with the jalapeño sourdough bun they are good. I would recommend going here for a burger if you are in the area.

Pretty good burger. Walk in, order at the counter. Free refills on drinks. Had the cheeseburger on jalepeno bun, it was good. Onion rings are giant and delicious. There are so many burger options, but the regular cheeseburger is good if you're feeling chicken-y as I was that day.

Burger Fresh was ranked #13 in the state of Texas by Texas Monthly magazine, and we'd been meaning to check them out and see how they live up to the hype. So on a recent voyage to Conroe, we stopped in.
Burger Fresh is easy to find. It's located in a strip center a couple of blocks off I-45, right in the heart of town. Immediately you can tell that this isn't part of a big chain; the front of the store has a funky style all its own.
Upon entering the store, we were immediately met by the rich aroma of fried beef - not an unwelcome scent in a hamburger joint. Looking around the medium-sized dining room, we saw a space filled with folks of all ages and from all walks of life devouring burgers. Our kind of place.
Looking at the counter, we were overwhelmed by the huge variety of menu options. Burgers of all kinds, from a half pound all the way up to an insane triple of half-pound patties. Yes, if you're so inclined, you can order a burger with a pound and a half of beef. We weren't so inclined.
They also offer a wide range of exotic meats, including alligator and ostrich. Thanks, Crocodile Hunter, but we're hear for a cheeseburger, and that requires beef.
We decided on a #5 burger: A half pound of certified Angus beef with a single half-pound patty, double American cheese, and bacon. It was offered in a basket with sides, and the friendly counterman recommended the onion rings.
We grabbed a table, and waited for our order to come out. After about five minutes, a soft-spoken waitress brought us our burger.
What appeared was a nicely griddled half-pound patty, which was unfortunately machine formed. The American cheese was moderately melty, and the bacon atop was good quality, but very mild in flavor. The egg bun wasn't griddled in any way. It was a prime example of a pretty good traditional burger.
We enjoyed the burger, but weren't blown away. The hamburger patty was dry and overcooked; all of the ooze present came from the cheese. And the bacon, while considerably higher quality than you'd find at any of the large fast food chains, wasn't as flavorful as we would have liked.
We'd rate the burger in the "Better Burger" category - better than the best offerings at conventional fast food chains, similar to what you'd get at the Five Guys chain. But it doesn't approach the rich flavor found at the best chains, like Beck's Prime or SmashBurger.
What did impress us were the handmade onion rings. Large, sweet onion slices, hand breaded and deep fried in a crispy, flaky batter. Not greasy at all, and very tasty. Some of the best onion rings we can remember trying.
All in all, we can easily recommend Burger Fresh. A good burger (with an amazing variety of options) and outstanding onion rings make for an enjoyable lunch in Conroe. We'll be back. -

A favorite of ours, Burger Fresh recently changed their burger from fresh hamburger to preformed hamburger patties. How sad that what was once a great hamburger is now less than mundane.

MAN, this place is tasty. The burgers are delicious, that's all I've ever gotten.
Burger with onion rings! Bacon and cheese and awesome.
The jalapeno buns are crazy tasty, there is something just magical about the texture of the bread.
The fries are kinda lame, at least compared to the onion rings (accidentally ordered them one day).
The atmosphere is nice and homey, and the service is great!
I definitely will be back, it's my favorite place when I'm in the Conroe area! -

My husband and I snuck in here the other night for a quick bite. Definitely not for the calorie conscious. The menu consists of all things sinful.
Good- They have a wide selection of delicious burgers, milkshakes, and awesome onion rings! We knew we had made a good choice because it was packed with people. The one in Conroe is conveniently located close to I45 on Gladstell. It's perfect for families and casual dinners with friends.
Bad- Only one bathroom for women this could be kind tricky when it's super busy because it wasn't that clean. The dining area is small and if it gets crowded you will have to wait a while for your food, but it so worth it!
Ugly- Nothing to report yet.
We give it 4 thumbs up! Yum! -

This was a preformed burger patty. That was the first disappointment. I ordered a mushroom cheeseburger and the mushrooms came from a can. It wasn't exciting as far a burgers go at all. No lettuce, tomatoes nothing. The french fries were boring and what looked like yummy onion rings ended up just being plain coated onions. Anyway, not worth going out of your way to eat here. No one in my family understands why this place made the Texas Monthly best burgers. It just doesn't seem to fit in any way shape or form!

it was 3pm on a sunday afternoon and 6 hungry warriors (we have medals that say we are warriors) had just finished dashing through obstacles. we looked for food...not any food, but an amazing burger.
we stumbled on an unassuming strip where we saw burger fresh! though they were close to closing, they were gracious enough to feed us (i think we must have looked quite famished) and i'm glad they did.
THIS BURGER WAS AMAZING. well first it's huge and it was definitely freshly made (hence burger fresh). it did take a bit longer to come out than most burger places but it was definitely worth the wait. i think the one thing that really set the burger apart was the bread! i don't even know how to describe it except that it was buttery and toasted and everything wonderful.
i got my burger with TATER TOTS which were hands down probably the best tots i've ever had. they were golden brown and had a really great crispy crunchy goodness on the outside versus some tots which are just soggy and greasy and really not that enjoyable to eat. some of my friends got onion rings, which although you only get a few, are HUGE. and also fantastically delicious.
i might start going to the lake more often just so i have an excuse to drive up 45 to this perfect little burger joint. -

I love burgers! Ive tasted many burgers and I can tell you my rank has been 1) Best Burger (stafford) 2. Stanton Burger( houston along I10) 3. Pappa's Burger( Westhiemer). However, I will have to bump all these burgers down. Texas Monthly ranks it at the #3 in Texas, Ill rank it as #1, since I havent had the pleasure of trying all burgers. It is quite far if you live in Houston as it is located in Conroe. The place is your typical hole in the wall place with styrofoam cups sans establishment labels. This means it is not an expensive place, which is a great thing. I ordered the original 1/2 lb angus burger with the onion rings( $10.98) When I got my order OMG!!!!!! The burger, you guys,,,,,OMG!!!!!! It was delicious!!!! I was with my friend and since he has known me for 6 years, there was no pretending! I went tazmanian devil on that burger bc it was so great that in btw swallowing, i didnt want the taste to go away. Then I tried the onion rings!!!!! The gates of HOG HEaven opened!!!!!!! The best burger with the best onion rings!!! This is exactly what I live for!!!!!!! I live to eat!!! I believe when I finished I even had a smudge of avocado on my forehead and chunks of burger in my hair. I calmly wiped by forehead , shook the chunks out of my hair and apologized to my friend. I was glad this was not a first date or it would have been very awkward. Fortunately, for me, its been 6 years and he understands that I LOVE great burgers!

Nice little place but do be in a hurry if you go @ peak times. the food is very good & the prices are right. I had a 1/2 lb. burger & fries. the only down side for me was that the sour dough bun had Jalapenos in it :) but still it was very good. Milk shacks are a must :)
