i love going into pharmacies, grocery store, and mini marts. especially when i'm in different towns and countries. i consider them little windows into the culture of where ever i am.
i'd always wondered about Burch (i mean it's been on the corner and franklin and hennepin forever) and I finally peeked inside today.
i had no idea it was as large as it is. 3 rooms, if i remember correctly. they have a little bit of everything...including a large assortment of Gund stuffed animals that could rival any toy store. it was everything and nothing at the same time. need a puzzle last minute? this may be your place. need you prescription filled? come here. need a card? they have an entire room devoted to them, and a nice grey-haired lady that will help you pick something out. oh, wait, cupboards looking bare? they also have some groceries.
glad that this place has survived all this time, and if the wooden signage in each room is testament, it's survived a lot longer than I've been around.
i walked out empty-handed, but if i were in the area and needed a knick knack, smokes, candy, card, pill, or ice cream all at the same time, I would certainly drop in here.
