Can't believe I haven't reviewed this place. Been here a couple of times over the last couple of years. But lately, I have decided to get back into making plastic models. Hence been visiting the store more frequently.
Some kits and accessories are cheaper online. However the feeling of driving to a store and holding something in your hand is still very different. It's quite sad that in this day of twittering and facebooking, kids have very short attention span. Hobby stores like this are getting very rare. -

Geez, how I miss customer service and people who know what they're talking about...WHAT A TREAT TO COME INTO THIS STORE!
Everyone is so friendly and they know their stuff! I walked in with a very general idea of what I was looking for and by the time I left I had all the options available and a brand new hobbiest was born. No upselling just good honest service and a great selection. I can't wait to go back! -

Are you a collector of model cars or airplanes? If so, this place is IT! They have zillions of plastic and diecast car models (1/18, 1/43, 1/87 and 1/160 scales), a decent plastic kit selection and have an excellent website (updated DAILY) where you can even get your fix online. Some plastic kits, and an excellent supply of paints and tools from Gunze and Tamiya and Testors - best anywhere in the LA basin perhaps. They also carry some N scale trains, NO 1/87 (HO trains) however.
Service is good most of the time, but sometimes a bit rushed on the phone. Just ask for Glen.. He'll treat ya right.

My husband came home with an entire starter kit plus extra stuff from this store to get us started on our N scale train set and model that we are working on together. Expecting him to have spent well over $500, I was so happy to know that it was a lot less than that. He told me that the guys that worked there went above and beyond to help him pick out the best stuff that they had there, Kato brand. Very sturdy trains, cars and tracks. They told him their honest opinions and their honest way to get this started, they even gave him 30% off of each item that he bought which in returned saved my husband a lot of money and they really did not have to do that. We have now found our store where we know we can get an honest opinion and not just a sales pitch. These guys are awesome and my husband looks forward to frequently visiting this place for future purchases.

This is easily THE BEST brick and mortar model hobby shop in the greater Los Angeles area that I frequent. They have a wide selection of die cast models as well as plastic kits which include genres from aviation, auto, maritime, and sci-fi. They also have an excellent stock of paints, tools, and modelling accessories which is great for scratch building.
But this place shines through even more with their excellent customer service. Their staff (especially Joe and John when he was still working there) is very knowledgeable and friendly and will gladly answer any product or modelling questions
Lastly, the interior decor is quite nostalgic with many finished models on display in cases and hanging from the ceiling. This is what a true modelling hobby shop should look and feel like! -

One of the best internet and brick & mortar hobby shops. Glenn has been helpful on internet purchases and in person.
Not a big hobby shop, but the knowledgeable staff is most helpful. They have given me discounts several times when I showed up in person after driving down from the SF Bay Area.
The selection is actually pretty good considering the size of the shop. There are bigger hobby shops in the Los Angeles area, but not a hobby shop with better customer service.
When parking, do be mindful that there are time restrictions on some of the side streets, but you can usually find street parking in front of the store. -

I am just getting back into building models after a 15+ year break.
The guys working here are very friendly and knowledgeable. However there prices are so so high!! I am all about supporting my local stores, but they are so high I will continue to buy online unless I just need a tin of paint or two and don't want to pay the shipping.
For example there is a model available online I can get for about $9 including shipping. They want $17 plus tax. Also they have Tamiya side cutters for $37, I picked mine up online for $22 shipped. -

i will review this on the basis of my multiple online transactions as i have never been to the actual store before. perhaps the way they handle their online transactions has something to be said of how they run the physical shop
the people who run this are absolutely speedy with their email responses and ship this fast! tons of selections of modeling supplies and models at really great prices (even if you have to pay the shipping). when my local hobby store doesnt stock something, i can count on these guys to have them in stock.
old school website but it is updated. again i have never been in store before but from my experience online and what others have said here, i cant believe there is a better hobby store around in the area if you live in LA area. -

I really enjoy the guys at Burbank House of Hobbies. I mainly visit them for their diecast selection. It is very good. But most of all, I appreciate their friendly attitude and willingness to order and save things for you. Simply tell them what you want and they will call you when it is in. A great help when Burbank is not easily on the way.

My son can spend hours looking at the airplane and spaceships suspended from the ceiling and in the cases at this place. Make sure you ask for the internet price as the sticker/in-store price may be more than what you see online. It never fails that I end up picking up a die cast model here or there when I visit. The people behind the counter are very helpful - they held my son's Christmas gift for my so that I could pick it up with out him around.
