Can't believe I didn't discover this airport earlier.
Things are much more easier and nicer compared to LAX. You get in and out fast, simple, and easy.
The shuttles to the self-parking lots are quick and efficient as well. =)
My new favorite airport for simple domestic travel. -
Review from Henry L.
I much prefer Burbank to LAX! it is much easier in and out than LAX... if this is your first time flying in/out. they load aircraft both from front/rear...so if your're flying southwest. you're in more luck getting a great seat if you enter from the rear...
I wish BURhad more places to eat...but hey it is a small regional airport with only I think 8 gates -

Top 12 reasons why I love this airport:
-Fry's Electronics is nearby in the rare instance you have an hour or two to kill and you want to buy that 58" TV and bring it onto the plane.
-There is valet parking and it takes just a few minutes to hand over the keys and take the ticket before running for the gate.
-The valet parking service has both a telephone number as well as a self service kiosk that makes it easy to pick up the car when you arrive back in town.
-The cost of valet service is less than the cost of short term parking, compared to the lot nearest the airport terminal.
-The flights to Las Vegas, Oakland and Sacramento are all each less than 90 minutes away.
-The security line is usually covered in 10 minutes. Stick to the line on the left.
-Free WiFi.
-The shoeshine service is fast and efficient.
-The gate agents will wait for you and your colleagues until the last possible minute, especially when you check in online.
-It serves the LA car culture as the freeways are nearby and there are plenty of gas stations in the vicinity.
-You can board from the front or back of the plane on Southwest flights.
-It is stress and A-Hole free, mostly, except for the Thursdays or Fridays that the just turned 21 year olds are boarding a plane for the first time to LV. As Tribe said, *Act Like You Know* -

An old school airport that works! I hope BUR never installs jetways. Keep the airstairs! Deplane forward and aft. So convenient. Good enough for the President, good enough for me.
A quick, short walk to rental cars. I love it! And the Lunch Box Cafe provides great comfort food and Asian dishes too! Orange plastic chairs are old, but clean. Free wi-Fi!
Knock on the hardwood bench by baggage claim, hope you never change, Bob Hope! -

Sooo much better than the drama of LAX, this place is way smaller and more intimate.
I don't think I have ever seen it really crowded. Even in the security lines.
There is valet parking, the baggage claim at least for the airline I took was located outside. There isn't a million people honking and causing a traffic jam.
Smooth as butter. Come here if you can, much easier than LAX. -
Review from Edward W.
Use Burbank over LAX whenever possible. Truly that's all that needs to be said.
EASY.
Valet parking is available.
Parking in lot "D" rather than "C" will save you ten minutes on the shuttle bus, but currently "D" is under construction for several months. Plan accordingly.
Baggage claim is a breeze. (Watch for TMZ - Hi, Harvey!)
Food is not-so-great, unfortunately. A bad Tully's. A lousy Lunch Box. But you can show up later, and closer to your departure time, so you don't need a designer coffee or Wolfgang Puck.
Security is an easy, ten minute affair. Does it get any better in the world of airports?
I heart BUR. Sorry, LAX. -

My favorite airport in LA area, so much easier to fly out of than lax! I can arrive 30 minutes or less before my flight and always make it

Little teeny community airport in the Burbank area. I enjoyed flying out of here. No hassles. No questions (although the security screener thought my bars of soap were weapons at first...). No real things to do but who cares if you can just show up around 30-45min before your flight (if you have no carry ons and pre-check in).
They have a coffee shop (Tully's).
Much better than the hassle of LAX. -

LOVE this airport!!
Every time one of my family members or friends want to visit me here I always try to convince them to fly into this airport! Not only is it convenient to get to, but picking up passengers curb side is easier than most airports.
One will never get lost at this airport. Only 2 baggage claim areas... and easy terminal to navigate through! Gotta love small airports! -

Bob Hope Airport reminds me of San Jose Airport before they re-did it.
De-plane on the tar-mac. Both the front and the back of the plane. (haven't done that in years).
Definitely a SHORT landing strip. Touchdown, BRAKES, STOP STOP STOP! Makes for a fun game of opening the overhead bins. :)
Most rental places are not onsite, and therefore you need to take a shuttle there. Fine, but remember to check in first (at the actual airport).
Security sucks. One line and seriously slow. Get here early because it took us 20 minutes.
I love that baggage claim is actually outside. Kinda cool if you ask me.
What else? I love their sign : (Fly Quietly). Ha. Right. Planes. Fly quietly. Nice. -

OMG I overslept!
I've lived about a mile away from the burbank airport for years and have never flown out until this past weekend. I was going to take a flight out to Sacramento and overslept... I ran in, 5 minutes in the security line, and still had 10 minutes to spare!
This airport is smaller, but that makes it great because its never crowded, there is never traffic, and there are hardly any long lines. The airport itself is a bit dated, not too many options in the way of food or things to look at while trying to kill time. You walk directly on the tarmac to board the plane. If flights were cheaper out of Burbank, I'd use this airport more often.Listed in: I'm on a PLANE!

Review from Denver L.
Burbank is a small no frills airport. Easy for pickup, dropoff, flying into or out of. You get to walk on the tarmac which i love, and exit from the front and rear of the airplane. It reminds me of those old movies you see, just a crazy fun time.
My biggest fear is the turbulence, it is the worst when landing here. About every other flight, the winds pick up and things get scary. Since the airport is located in the middle of the city, it makes it even scarier when you land. Being an avid coaster junkie I kinda like it!
I wish it had free wifi here, while my flight has never been delayed leaving here, i do arrive early in case of traffic getting here. The lines at the ticket counter and security are always super fast. If your here more than 30 minutes on that process, then you just didnt pack smart.
There isn't much to do inside of this airport, but that kinda the point. It reminds me of a warehouse you just sit and wait in till your plane is ready. -
Review from Chris M.
God bless this airport, and I'm not even slightly religious! In all seriousness, I prefer this place to LAX any day. It's way more convenient and there's less chaos when I've used it, although I don't usually travel during holidays so I cannot comment on that. It may cost more because there aren't as many flights and it's not a huge hub, but you get what you pay for and often I haven't noticed too much of a difference. I think the extra money is worth the sanity you will save.
When's the last time you asked someone to take you to the airport and they were excited to drop you off at LAX? -
Review from Jojo L.
Highly recommend this airport if you live in ventura or west LA. The airport is smaller and it is much quicker and easier to go through the security here. It is a good airport for business trip.

So much easier to get around than LAX. Worth the extra $ when looking at flights.
Valet parking was very convenient but we won't be using it again. Upon departure, the attendant quoted the cost for the two days we were going to be gone but unfortunately when we returned, we were charged in extra day because we had gone over the time allotted. He had never mentioned the time parameters. We paid an additional day because we were 10 minutes over. :( -
Review from Lucy K.
By far and away my most favorite airport in LA.
It takes you 5 minutes to get through security. There are only 2 terminals and 2 baggage claims (one indoor and one outdoor) so you can't really get lost. You get to walk onto and off your plane from the back or front which makes for quick and fast entry and de-boarding. You just can't go wrong. I fly out of here every chance I get! -

SUPER EASY AIRPORT!
I fly here at least once a month to visit my boyfriend. Smaller airports are so much easier and faster to get through! I'm so glad Southwest flies here :D
At times there are 2 lines to get through security, where one is for "Expert Travelers". I think this is for those who travel a lot that they know the drill very well. I think the other line is for those who have kids traveling with them, etc. I always pick the "expert Travelers" because I usually travel in slip on shoes/flip flops ;]
I love the layout and its probably because the airport is so small. So getting to my departure gate is not far at all!!! I love not having to run to gate 30-something! There's like what...4 gates?
When arriving the passenger loading zone is so close. Such a convenient airport if you don't wanna fly to crazy CRAZY LAX! I'm so glad my boyfriend lives near Burbank and not near LAX :3 There's rarely traffic coming into BUR :D
Oh yeah and the best part is: FREE Wi-Fi!!!! -

This airport is the most convenient airport in the Los Angeles area.
I fly out of Burbank to San Jose or Oakland at least once a month. My first time flying out of here, I walked in with my bags and then looked around trying to locate the Southwest Airlines kiosk. I was immediately greeted by an employee who asked me, "Can I help you find something?" WOW. What airport has the quality of service where they ask you if you need help?! Burbank.
Getting through security is pretty quick here, even if it is busy. I think the most I've waited to get through security was about 20 minutes. Other than that, this airport is pretty standard. Plenty of places to eat and buy amenities, and did I mention the free wifi?
Arriving is just as easy, just walk out of the terminal and you're bags are out in the next five minutes, conveniently next to the pick up line. No need to walk long distances with lots of luggage to get picked up.
If you've never flown from Burbank, give it a try. It will be a stellar experience. -
Review from Alice L.
As a frequent flyer, this is an awesome airport. Don't let the size throw you off. It's actually a good thing that its small. You're able to get in and out easily w/o the hassles of a big airport. They also offer free wi-fi!

Bob Hope Airport, or simply Burbank Airport always feels like my childhood airport when we used to fly Southwest way back in the 80's to Lubbock.
This smaller regional airport is a breeze compared to LAX. Just the fact that you don't have to get on the 405 means I will typically prefer BUR over LAX. The terminals here are older and smaller and lack jetways. You get to board your flight the old fashioned way via tarmac stairs. ( I actually think this is pretty cool, unless it's pouring rain of course). There's free WiFi in the terminals and the gate turnaround is fairly quick overall. It seems that their business here has declined with United and American pulling out of this airport so a large portion of the terminal feels empty.
The main negatives of this airport is the terrible security service and the minuscule boarding areas. First off, the security lines were unusually long for such an empty airport. The security agents were augmentative with some of the passengers and really just gave everyone a hard time about everything from how you hold your ticket to how you lay your iPad on the conveyor belt. Second, the boarding areas at each gate are tiny, especially considering that the majority of the terminal is empty space. It's hard to navigate to your line, especially on Southwest.
Overall, I really enjoy the stress I miss out on when picking Burbank Airport vs. LAX. BUR could certainly use a face lift but in the end, it's a generally painless experience. -

Super easy in and out of this airport. So convenient and the best alternate to flying out of LAX. Board through the back door of SWA planes and easily get to your favorite seat faster than those high maintenance people who worship the front section. Love not having to walk a mile from the curb to Monkey's gate. Look around and you will recognize celebrities, strippers and bodyguards flying to and from Vegas. If you are new to the area, you will see the ultimate in self-centered behavior here. Please, for the love of humanity, do not try to fit in by following this trend.
Airport great. People suck. -
Review from Eddie L.
For anyone flying betwen San Francisco/East Bay and LA, Burbank Airport is the best!!! Especially if you fly Southwest!!!
OAK to BUR is so super easy. Lines at both airports are rarely long and delays are fewer than LAX! -

Los Angeles, CA
Convenient and easy. I love this airport for short trips around the country. Southwest is the main carrier and it was a breeze to get to, park, and check in. You'll never encounter hundreds of travelers or family members waiting for people. Also, it doesn't smell bad like LAX.
I did find the screening line to be rather long. They can beef up the number of TSA screeners to make it a little faster. -

WOODLAND HLS, CA
Convenient for sure but I feel like I stepped back about 30-40 years at this old school airport. I don't feel unsafe but they could use a major remodel & update. Baggage claim is a total joke & everyone knows it. Overall though, it's better than the craziness of LAX.

This airport is awesome!
Generally, it's more expensive for flights here than LAX, but sometimes you'll catch a good deal that's the same price or cheaper, depending on the airline. It's so efficient, even when it's busy.
Security is pretty quick for a small airport and you don't have to run a marathon to get to your designated terminal.
Rentals, cabs, and shuttles are so much quicker and convenient.
Save some time, gas, and money, and fly to and from here rather than LAX. -
Review from Sean B.
You know... it's better than LAX. That's a no-brainer. It's generally fast and easy and cheap enough. Four stars rather than five because they don't know how to handle it on the rare occasions when they ARE busy and they don't quickly open up another line in security, which can be nerve-wracking when you're in a hurry.
Still, the best LA Metropolitan Area option. -
Review from Yum E.
Burbank Airport is one of my favorite airports in the LA area! Getting in and out is always a breeze!
Boarding and deplaning is very convenient as both the front and rear exits are available to use.
Lines are usually minimal and there is FREE wifi! :D -
Review from Annie N.
I adore this airport. Talk about a breezy transaction! I got here 30 minutes before my flight and had some time to spare. I hit lines NEVER, and the airport is small enough that you zip around in no time. Pain free, on time, clean, and as good as it gets! I always check for flights out of Burbank before anywhere else. Hoorah!

There's a limited number of places to recharge your phone while waiting for your flight. You can exit from the rear of the plane, nice when there's decent weather. It seems like the airport "amenities" shut down before the airport closes. Why can't I get a cheap burrito before my late flight? Not my favored LA airport.

One of my favorite airports to fly in and out of, small, easy to access..Security here is as tight as other airports don't kid yourself thinking it is a small airport and its not safe it is.
Free wi-fi in the terminal is nice.they have one large bar and one smaller bar further down the terminal, I like it when the small bar is open it is a cool place to have a beer before you take off.. -
Review from Nicole B.
Being at the Burbank airport is like stepping back in time. The exterior of the airport looks pretty dated, and the flight boards aren't digital yet. As I sat waiting for a flight, I watched an attendant swap out the number tiles on the Delta flight board for the next flight. There aren't a lot of dining options, but you can get basic food and drinks. The entry off of Hollywood Way to the terminals usually gets really congested, especially at peak flight times, but security is quick. You board your plane on the tarmac, just like most regional airports. Once you're off the plane and inside the airport, you're just a few steps away from being picked up on the curb.

No more LAX for me!!!!! :D
Prettiest? not really Most up to date? def not (but walking on the tarmac is kinda cool and i think it's faster for them to get us on and off too!) Convenient? YUPPPP!
Took my first trip out from here over the wkd and was ridiculously faster n less stressful --- def a happy flier.
Not sure why so few people fly out from here, only had ~70 on the way there and ~30 on the way back! EXTRA BONUS: the ppl even seemed to be more laid back, no pushy/angry passengers either! hehee -

The best little airport in the world. But please dont tell anyone, seriously. Because if it gets too popular it wont be the same. Still honesty compels me to share just what a great treasure this place is.
First of all the valet parking, $30 a day for diamond service which is a snip! Easy, peasy drop off - and fast and OH get this for $20 more they'll wash your car. When you land just put the parking voucher thru a machine and pay and when you get to the exit the car is waiting. I LOVE THIS!!!
The staff are all happy there, the place has a friendly vibe. Even the TSA usually recruited from the dregs of society based only on their commitment to be miserable and spread misery are, at Burbank at least one degree above taciturn.
The food court leaves a little to be desired but hey its fast, the food is cooked on site and its right next to the planes for a quick in and dine-n-dash.
All that plus free wifi, clean toilets, regular flights and as an extra bonus this is THE airport for Hollywood stars and porn stars so its good people watching too.
Sssssh just dont tell anyone, - send them to LAX!
cheers
Roy -
Review from Don W.
This place is 5283x better than LAX. Baggage is easy. TSA is decent. The parking scene is a little strange (the valet is good, but off-site parking is not due to an inconsistent bus).
The best part--walking up steps to get on the plane. I feel like a dignitary every time! -

I love this airport! Fly in and out of it almost every other week. It's small. Parking is a breeze. Outside lot is $20/day. Covered $30/day. Offsite is $9 or $10, I think. Only did that once...
Even when the lines are long, I get through relatively quickly. Friendly TSA people.
If you fly Southwest, there's a side entrance. Use it! -
Review from Ara A.
Seriously my favorite airport. I absolutely despise going to LAX so if I can ever fly out of Burbank I sure as hell will.
I don't think it has ever taken longer than 20min to get through security and most of the time its way less than that. It's definitely a little old school and it's not the flashiest airport but its simple, convenient, and pretty much the only airport in the area I'm actually excited to go to. -
Review from Jamie C.
I think I'm biased against BUR just because of its appearance. It's super tiny and kind of ghetto (though not as bad as Long Beach airport, I hear). There's only one driveway that gets pretty busy, but still manageable. I usually fly Southwest, and when you land, you climb down stairs and onto the pavement, instead of walking through the tunnel thing straight into the terminal. I actually like that because that means you can exit in the front and the back of the plane, but it just adds to the unglamorousness of this airport. When I arrive here, I don't feel excited to be home - I'm just like, okay let's get this over with and ptfo.

Ummmm hello!!! L.O.V.E BUR!!! This airport is small and hassle free. I prefer to fly out of here versus LAX - I save that one for our "passport needed trips". This airport is easy breezy, I usually fly Southwest or JetBlue - they have a great red eye or early AM into JFK and why drive to Vegas (um, no thanks!) when you can hop a 30 min flight from here. Security lines are always super quick. Baggage claim is outdoor for most airlines - American I believe is on the other side, have only been on that side a few times. There are a couple little places to grab snacks or a book but this is not the cluster or long lines of LAX. Have your driver pick you up on the curb and you are ready.
