Review from Tracy K.
This is the 2nd Buoy One! After the original Buoy One.. being a smash hit in Riverhead - (just before getting to the village and coming off the LIE on Rt 25)... this one is now opened on the south fork in Westhampton.. just on Montauk Highway's north side.
Beautiful place.. a few dining areas... fireplace, bar, nice subdued colors... very nice vibe inside.. the staff were all friendly and cool.
They have the same great food. Enjoyed the baked gnocci with mushrooms and the shrimp appetizer had jumbo shrimp in a panko looking crust.
All delicious here. -

This is the "breath of fresh air" in Westhampton. I like that they're open for lunch (at least on weekends), and that they don't have the usual Hamptons menu. They offer mostly seafood and there is a diverse selection of it. I had the swordfish, which was good, but nothing special. The Old Bay Spice flounder special however, was awesome.
They offer wine by the glass, but have no wine list.
I'm glad someone has entered this arena and has decided to play their game, not someone else's. You won't be disappointed trying this restaurant. -

New York, NY
Open for about 3 months now, Buoy One is on par with some of the better family style restaurants in this part of Long Island (from Moriches to Hampton Bays).
Lorraine manages the place and is lovely. She came by the table several times to chat, see how we were doing and recommend various dishes on and off the menu. (Other managers do this of course, but her approach was more subtle and more genuine. What's more, the place was packed, but she made the time and made it seem effortless). Our server was Austin, and she was fantastic. Smart, funny, pretty and knew her way around the menu like a pro. Ask to sit at her station.
There's something for everyone at Buoy One. They got their fried baskets (clams, scallops, calimari, shrimp, etc.), the classic pasta dishes - linguini/clam sauce, shrimp scampi, mussels marinara (you got the idea) and then their mains : everything from Panko-crusted clams (delish!) and thai glazed cod to crispy pork and "voodoo chicken".
This is a fun restaurant. There's definitely a family feel to the place and there's a nice buzz of activity. They've worked out the hiccups from the first two months (i'm pretty sure they didn't anticipate just how busy it would be) although they need to work on the seating sitch. It's a mess at the front door.
All in all, my friends and I agreed that Buoy One is a place that's working hard for your business. The atmosphere is ebullient and the food is just what you'd expect from one of the better family seafood restaurants on the east end. -

Came here this summer w/a date and overall the food was ok when we went. I had the swordfish and he had the lobster bake. They gave him a female lobster that was mostly eggs (I am not a lobster eater so I don't know if that's normal, but the thing was like over $30 if I remember correctly so that's kind of crappy, but who knows). My swordfish was good and I remember they sat us even though they were pretty much trying to wrap up for the night. The prices are high, but that's the way it is out here.

Westhampton, NY
The best part about this restaurant was its proximity to our home. We waited for years for this restaurant to reopen; wish it had been worth the wait. Not only was the service less then attentive, the food was less then mediocre. Every time I pass it I say I'll give it another chance...then I remember how disappointed I was. Skip it!

My first experience was a disaster. I ordered the soft shell crabs and they were greasy and undercooked. The flounder was small and tasteless. They charge $3.50 for bread.
Never again! -

Skip. Dishes sound good but show up cold and bland. Service is an atrocity. I went there twice and both experiences were pretty much the same.

Wow! Just got a really aggresive and abusive response from Lorriane, the owner. Besides working on improving the restaurant, they should work on handling customer complaints.

Review from Lynn K.
Hartsdale, NY
Had dinner here tonight. The kitchen seemed unable to handle the orders even though the restaurant was not full. The bucket of mussels came quickly along with a loaf of garlic bread. They were perfect in every regard. But the service and the food went straight downhill from there. Our waitress was unable to talk about what drink selections were available. She reached across the person next to me to pour water and almost had a major mishap. She still managed to pour water onto the table, into the bread basket, and all over the floor. She neither apologized nor made any effort to clean it up. The wait between the appetizer and the entree was excessive and when the food finally arrived it was lukewarm, overcooked, and not as ordered in one case. The vanilla whipped sweet potatoes, served on many of the regular entrees, is a hideous concoction that was ill-conceived and needs to be re-thought. The mashed potatoes were lumpy and gluey. The almond encrusted flounder was overcooked and dry, needing more of the lemon butter sauce to save it. The broccoli ends were not trimmed right before steaming showing obvious brown, oxidized flesh. Yet they were perfectly steamed and not overcooked. The scallops entree on the regular menu was bland, the plate a watery, unappealing preparation. Served with cold rice. Other entrees were declared mediocre by our dining mates. A major disappointment on many fronts, we would not be in any rush to come back.
